    Cheese and PEPPERONI PIZZA
    Robin U.

Went to eat there before a Red Sox game in Fenway with a group of about 8 of us. It's lovely, they have indoor and outdoor dining available. Food and service were fantastic. It's more of a casual/upscale vibe. Prices were decent.

Came here with a group of 10 and had such a great experience! The food was very good and everything came out smoothly. The service was attentive and friendly the whole time. Not pictured, but we also ordered the cheese pizza which was very good. I definitely recommend trying and would come back!

Rounding up from 3.5* I was looking forward to trying out Mida after hearing great things about their other locations and since I live in the area, but the experience wasn't anything special. We got the mushroom pappardelle, Icelandic cod piccata, roasted chicken, and meatball appetizer. Everything was pretty salty (especially the farro and risotto), but the chicken and cod were cooked well. I don't think I would return on my own but wouldn't complain if I came back for a party or by invite, and I would try the bolognese or pizzas. Friendliness and speed of service, ambiance, and cleanliness are good though! No complaints on that front.

So yes I did go to 2 seperate locations today. Service leve at both was the same - excellent! We love to see consistency, the bread great at both warm with olive oil. This time went with the meatballs as an app(delicious) but the pizza! An ode to New Haven style for sure! Thin, but no flop great crisp! Was not greasy at all even with all the meat and yes again the short rib was fantastic! Loved this location as pictured below, modern, clean with pops of color. If you come to mida you are going to get a consistently great meal with great staff behind it

BAY OF FUNDY SALMON. Oily. Underseasoned. Beans were flavorless.

First time here and very very disappointed. Cute vibes but the service is so understaffed. Food comes out so slowly and not all the entrees came up at once. The starter bread also didn't come until after entree. For a party of 5, we were frankly thoroughly disappointed about the food. My friends all ordered some sort of pasta that is beyond average. I had the bag of funds salmon which was oily, underseasoned, though I do appreciate the crisp of the salmon skin. It was otherwise not worth a second visit. Will not come back for the food but the patio is definitely cute for seatings.

GNOCCHI CACIO E PEPE and SMOKED SHORT RIB LASAGNA

The restaurant looked nice and the staff was very friendly. The focaccia bread was delicious. However the arancini were cold. The lasagna and cacio e pepe were fine just nothing that wowed us. The food overall was very average. The amalfi coast drink felt overpowered by the grapefruit and very watery. The espresso martini felt overly sweet and also very average. Overall it was an expensive meal for average tasting food. Maybe we should've had the pizza because the people sitting next to us had it and it looked good, but I don't think I'd risk going back.

    Carbonara & Braised pork tagliatelle

Beautiful new location in Fenway! I've been to the South End location a few times and always enjoyed my meal. Highly recommend booking a reservation in advance! Loved the Amalfi Coast cocktail. Very sweet and fruity. Ordered the carbonara, braised pork tagliatelle, and carne supremo pizza. The carbonara was my personal favorite. The noodles were perfectly al dente. It was my first time trying pizza at Mida, and it didn't disappoint! The tagliatelle was pretty good, but I felt like there was too much going on and the noodles were not as thick and substantial as I would have liked. However, if you like braised pork, it's still a good option. Will be coming back to try all the other dishes one day!

Lovely meal at this newly opened location in Fenway! First time at Mida! We walked in on Friday night and were expecting a wait given they seemed quite packed and also some groups of people were waiting for their table. But surprise surprise they had a table for 2 and we were seated immediately! The hubs ordered the Amalfi coast drink - he liked it. We ordered the charred cauliflower with romesco sauce as an appetizer and it was really good. The dill and mint were unexpected and added great flavor. They also brought bread and olive oil - 2 pieces of bread. I ordered the Bay of Fundy salmon which came with smashed cannellini beans with spinach in a light broth sauce and a parsley gremolata which was very lemony and added good flavor. The salmon was well cooked crispy outside and tender inside. I only wish they would add some carb to this dish, perhaps some rice or potatoes to make it a bit more filling. Although I was ok because we had had bread and appetizer so it was ok. The hubs ordered the sausage tagliatelle which he liked. It was a good portion so he had leftovers to take home! Our server was very friendly! And the waters were refilled adequately. Overall nice meal!

We had such an incredible experience here and our waitress Grace went above and beyond to ensure experience was memorable! The food was unbelievable and the atmosphere was so relaxing and welcoming - We will 100% be returning!

The Amalfi Coast - a wonderfully tasty citrusy combination with Vodka. Does it get any better?

Exceptional service from start to finish. Every dish fresh, delicious, cleanly plated, appropriate serving sizes for a change. The freshly made pasta is delicious!

Pasta Baby! Aboard the ship to a pasta party at Mida. I never could find my way to their South end location but once I saw the fenway location open, I took a leap of faith. I think they just opened a few months ago and the outside is really cute with their photogenic photo wall with their big logo right in the middle. Step inside to a dimly lit restaurant with lots of different patterns and building materials showcased from the ceilings to floor. So much to look at along with some cute plants hanging off the wall. You have to wait to be seated until the whole party is there so I took a seat at the bar until my friend walked in. It was busy on a Wednesday night with a majority of tables taken. I've been waiting for this honestly after hearing my mom rave about it years ago and was underwhelmed with the experience. They start you out with some plain bread not toasted or anything different from what you'd get at trader joes. The server was nice and very attentive and the food came out really fast. I ordered the paccheri bolognese and ....don't think I've ever said this but it felt overseasoned and the pasta texture felt somewhere between undercooked and chewy. For $26, I was kind of expecting more than about 8 noodles in a large bed of meat and sauce. We got a pizza and that was just okay for me as well. I did, however, really enjoy the drinks. They were visually appealing and tasted yummy, loved the sangria. Seeing a Shirley temple on the menu made me so happy and it looked refreshing! Also, nice to know that they can make all their pastas gluten free. I might need to test out the south end location and see how I feel but not sure i'll be back if im being honest. $$$ Food 5 Atmosphere 9 Service 7 What we got Umbria Sangria Paccheri Bolognese Shirley Temple Carne Supremo

    Gnocchi and cheese pizza
    Amy L.

We got the gnocchi and cheese pizza. First let's start with the olive oil and the bread, not going to lie they were kinda skimpy with the bread (only 1 slice of bread cut in half for two people with like a whole plate of oil). Oil and bread were nothing special. Gnocchi was mid I don't know if this was just me but it was a little mushy. Overall, flavor was solid. Portion was good. For the pizza, it was a simple thin crust cheese pizza. I thought this was good and the sauce was nice. Not too much cheese either. Gnocchi - 2.5/5 Pizza - 4/5 Bread - 3/5 Ambience and service - 5/5

The menu refers to these as "Greek cheese bread" but somehow that doesn't do it justice - these were immensely pillowy and cheesy, with an amazing crust, with homemade honey butter on the side. I could have had just these for dinner and been satisfied. They really nailed the bread. My other favorites: 1. Hipiti: spicy whipped feta with crispy potatoes on the side. I don't do well with spice but I absolutely loved this. 2. Marouli: winter lettuce with the most amazing vinaigrette dressing. My only knock to this is, presentation-wise, they serve it with half of the plate empty and the other half with salad. I don't understand why restaurants do this because - one, it only highlights the smaller portion and two, we're just going to mix the salad all around in the bowl anyway. 3. Boudeto: daily catch in a beautiful tomato broth. For a seafood dish at a restaurant in Back Bay, this was priced at a fairly reasonable $28. The only dish that fell a little flat for me was the tzatziki - needed a bit more seasoning. As it was, I was eating mostly just plain yogurt. The table-side preparation was cool, though. The space is its own visual dinner, there's simply a lot to look at (including a drawing of Poseidon riding a surf board). We got the big table in the back, which was a beautiful glass structure with a whole terrarium underneath. We couldn't stop marveling at it throughout the meal. Our waiter was wonderful - very helpful recommendations, came by to check on us often even though we were pretty far in the back, super patient with our questions. Hard to get reservations but worth it! Don't bother driving / trying to find parking unless you're willing to eat a hefty garage fee, it's Back Bay.

People recently wondered why Boston got nearly entirely shut out by the Michelin people (only 1…read moreone-star was given); among the places that were said to be in the running was Amar, located in a lovely space in the Raffles Hotel. We have been there twice, and I now will put my brief review. The take-home: if Boston, Raffles, and Amar think they deserve a star, they really need to up their game. I will get one thing out of the way very quickly: the food is spectacular and the wine service was excellent; these are not the reason for my comment. The simple truth folks is that a dining experience is not JUST about the food. It's about ambiance--which includes service and atmosphere, and that is where Amar just falls apart. It would be wrong to not recognize that the individual servers were quite nice and attentive. We had an 830 pm seating--hardly late in most cities, though one might suggest that in Boston that is on the later side (it really isn't folks). Regardless, by 1030-11 pm, the dining room was nearly empty on a Saturday night. At that moment, a server came over to us to alert us the kitchen was closing--which was obviously them saying "get out"--but soon thereafter the smell of cleaning fluid filled the air, and we realized there was a person cleaning the tables--with a cleaning cart, complete with mops, brooms, and cleaning fluid in the middle of the dining room. While people were seated and eating. This is a restaurant with a pricey menu and wine list, and I cannot remember a time when dining in a fine restaurant when something like this EVER happened. We found it funny at first, but while trying to eat our dessert and drink our final cocktails the smell of ammonia really ruined the final experience. In the end, once served with the bill, it was not funny. The bill was around $1000 for 4 people including a nice bottle of wine. So: expensive, nice individual service, good food. But the lack of awareness about how diners paying for an expensive meal feel being rushed, and then the utterly ludicrous presence of a cleaning cart in the middle of the dining room while people were still eating (I posted a photo) makes Amar a laughable memory but nowhere I'd go back to.

No, you only gain a clear picture of what a culture is all about when things go sideways, so you can see how everyone comes together to turn things around...or not. Several months ago, I had a less-than satisfactory evening at Grill 23 that was significantly disappointing, both for myself and for several associates who I had invited to celebrate a win. There's no need to dwell on the details, as the goal here is to look through the big piece of glass (the windshield) rather than through the small one (the rearview mirror). Suffice to say that I had no intention of returning and made that clear in written communication. What happened next belongs in a Harvard Business School case study titled "Turning it Around with Excellence." Within relatively short order, I was contacted by Johan Mola, Grill 23's Assistant General Manager. What an impressive young man, one who has clearly benefited from a top-notch upbringing, high-quality professional development and wisdom that he has accumulated through his own intelligence. Johan's communication exuded sincerity and empathy. He was a great listener who never once cut me off. He singlehandedly transformed my frame of mind from one that was slammed shut, to one that was open to giving Grill 23 another chance. It happened that when he reached out, I was in Asia for a month. Over that month, Johan periodically checked in via WhatsApp, just to reassure me that he had no intention of letting the matter go. He was masterful, but it was his authenticity above all that made him so. Fast forward to last night, when I returned to Grill 23 with my wife, hopeful but still apprehensive; I needn't have been. Johan greeted us at the door, effortlessly made us feel at ease, and escorted us to our table. During the meal, he checked in several times, always in an easy, unobtrusive way that just said "I'm here for you guys, whatever it is that you may need." The waiter assigned to us (Garrett) was fantastic, we couldn't have asked for a better person to take care of us. His service was seamless without ever feeling excessive, more like a hospitable friend serving us an incredible dinner at his home. We were also visited by the Director of Operations, Gary Tummings. He made us feel valued and special, it was appreciated. All in all, this was one of the more enjoyable restaurant experiences we've ever had. Of course, the food must be mentioned, because it was flawless! We started with a dozen Cape Cod oysters, the Foie Gras and the Beet Salad, all impeccably presented and delicious. We then welcomed the restaurants two signature steaks, the Porterhouse and the Tomahawk. Both were cooked to perfection (medium rare) and the flavor of each cut was nothing short of world class. The sides (carrots, asparagus and French fries) were all excellent as well, both in preparation and presentation. For dessert we had the coconut cake, which was mouthwatering, and a portion so generous that we had enough for seconds the next day. In short, the fare that we experienced last night was on another level...we absolutely will be back soon. I want to once again thank Assistant General Manager Johan Mola for everything he did to "right the ship" and to provide us with a truly memorable evening. All's well that ends well. Finally, I want to give a shoutout to Philip, the parking valet for the restaurant. We had talked prior and following the first experience and he immediately recognized me over two months later. What sets him apart is that he obviously cares deeply about the restaurant that he works for and the patrons who dine there. A really great, genuine human...I'm grateful for his concern, and my wife appreciated him keeping her dry under an umbrella on a raw and nasty night, all the way to our vehicle! Thank you to all, DC
