They are dishonest. They don't honor their warranty. So never waste your money by adding warranty because they don't tell you the problem until your warranty expires. I brought my computer 3 times, they always say nothing wrong, but after warranty expires, from exactly same problem they said gpu failed. It was the problem already but they didn't address it in order not to honor warranty. read more

Upon walking in your greeted and everything. There is sanitizer at the door so that's a plus. They had the heat on since it was cold outside so it was nice & warm inside the store. Also very good ventilation. The store is fully stocked and highly organized. Also the employees are very friendly and professional. Also very social and relaxed. The overall store is very clean. Also there's usually always shopping carts available. The general crowd is mainly middle class really. Mainly adults and some teenagers. The noise level was normal for a retail store. There were two Fairfax County police cars out front so they must have a shoplifting problem here now. Fairfax County is not what it used to be. I'm usually only down this way when visiting friends. Fairfax used to be so much better back in the day. Overall C++++. There is one major downfall here though. There is issues with price matching now which usually I've never had a problem before but recently I stopped in here with friends to buy a last minute gift for someone and there was a issue with price matching Amazon over a literally $10 price difference. The item was even shipped and sold by Amazon but still issues. I hate to say this but after this experience. I'll strongly think twice before coming in this store again when I can just order on Amazon and have the gift shipped to my friends house totally free & without any issues what so ever. Great spot for tech hobbyists with excellent customer service. They carry hard-to-find items including high-end graphics cards, and yet cheaper than Amazon. Purchases of graphics cards are different from other items due to their limited supply. They are limited to one graphics card per household once every 30 days, however the process is very smooth. There's a line outside the store and in order to purchase a graphics card, you have to camp outside and check in with the person in charge of the line, who is separate from MicroCenter. At 8am, a rep from MicroCenter will come out to put your name and phone number into their virtual queue system, and they will message you after the store opens at 10am with the model of graphics card available that day, which on some days might be none. read more

This review is mostly about a customer service representative there and not about the products. Products are great and they normally have a good inventory. My problem lies with one of their employees named, Mina (I believe). Her attitude was very inappropriate and unprofessional. I sent an employee on an errand because I was trying to buy 3 dell computers, I guess she was giving him a hard time, so he called me to have her explain the situation. She said she couldn't sell them to us because it's 1 computer per household but she can "help us out" and allow the 3 computers IF we buy either their warranty package or antivirus package for all 3 computers. Her reasoning was because (verbatim) "we're actually losing money on these machines and in order for us to make money as a business, you have to buy either one of those packages." To which I responded, "you losing money as a business is not really my problem, maybe you should price them higher or equivalent to dell." She then responded and said, "well sorry man I can't help you out, I was trying to do you a FAVOR by getting you these 3 machines." I asked to speak to a manager because I thought her tone and attitude were unprofessional but she hung up the phone as I was speaking mid sentence. I get it, a business needs to make money, especially if it's not a non profit business, but as a customer service representative, if you don't know to to speak to customers and get aggressive from the get go, maybe you shouldn't be in customer service. I ended up buying the computers anyway with the warranty but she could've of been more pleasant. read more

I don't normally recommend "sales people" but I know a lot of you may be buying computers/laptops for the holidays... hubby normally research's... and we just grab and go but this time there were questions... so locally I like Micro Center (Fairfax)... just had a amazing experience with Jessica... she really knows her stuff and the stores inventory. My husband is a retired computer scientist and I used to be in computer sales back in the 386 days... that said I know folks who know the technology versus just trying to sell us... she was able to answer our questions and when she wasn't sure she said so... plus when we said we had to talk and wasn't sure if we were buying today she backed off to let us consider options... once we were ready other floor staff found her for us as I wanted her to get the credit for the sale... overall positive experience! Like everything the store experience sometimes hinges on who you talk to with some of the "sales personnel" not as helpful if they don't think your buying... this interaction was stellar... hope she is around when we next need something!!!! read more

Stay Away ! No one there told me that I was at risk to lose all my information on my computer if I left it at Micro Center..... lost everything! I went in to Micro Center on July 2nd to fix my connection to the internet. Went to pick it up on July 5th. From past experience I asked them to show me that it was fixed. It would not get past the word Dell. If I had left Micro Center without checking they would have accused me that I did something to it. Since my computer never left their store this was on them. So I had to leave it there. They could not recover my information so they sent it to Wisconsin somewhere. Today is July 20th and I still do not have my computer back. Communication with them was a text saying " In Recovery ". Nothing more or reassuring. I had to call their Corporate Office to get any information. When Corporate sent my case back to Micro Center to deal with them I knew I was getting nowhere..... I think it's called " Passing the Buck" . So, I called directly to the company in Wisconsin to find out information. They were so nice. Not the run around I was getting at Micro Center. You really need to think twice about leaving your computer with them. I'm still without my computer and waiting to see what they actually recovered. read more

We were looking at the new steering wheels for sale & 2 were on display. We were actually interested in the $1300 Formula 1 steering wheel set up. My son tried it out, it was going to be gift for him for his birthday. There was a salesperson behind us didn't say a word, glaring at us and comes around turns off the PC. I tell him it's for his birthday and why would just stand there & watch us without talking with us about the setup. It was too weird. Not a lot of Apple products or cases. read more

We recently went to Micro Center to buy a computer and had a great experience. When you walk in there are masks on the table with hand sanitizers if needed. The floor guys are extremely professional and assisted us very quickly. When we got to the cash register there was an item that we brought which had a price that was on sale but it didn't ring up properly. They went ahead and matched the price. The manager that came in Tooba Khan to correct the price was also very polite. It really very refreshing to see great customer service especially during times like these when people are too paranoid or nervous to make conversation. I've been shopping on and off here for years since I moved from California and I'm glad I did. Probably the best place to shop for computer related parts, both online and in-store. They have 2 things going for them which is why they have such a huge cult following: Low prices and customer service. As long as any company has those 2 down, they are set for success and this place has had both for quite some time. I've dabbled with purchasing/returning a variety of things such as computer components, laptops, CPU's, motherboards, tablets, CD/DVD's. Their prices are extremely competitive and many times, beating the likes of Amazon and Newegg. And if it isn't, they will price match it as long as the item in question is still in stock at the requested retailer. I've used their extended warranty's a couple times and haven't had an issue. Returned a tablet under an 1 year accidental warranty and it was no questions asked. They had none in stock and issued me store credit right away. Another instance was getting a laptop repaired. They mentioned that they couldn't fix it and asked if issuing store credit was an option. Overall, this will always be the place I will buy anything computer related as long as I'm here in Virginia. read more

Have been a long time customer and usually am very happy with the experience - but not today. They have a "Price Match" policy with large retailers such as B&H and Amazon. Today they did not honor the price match with B&H on some hard drives. The manager in BYO only was going to do the price match on some of the hard drives I wanted to purchase, but not all of them. Have never had that issue at the Fairfax store until today. Disappointed that they change their policies. I went ahead and just ordered what I wanted from B&H - Microcenter lost some business today (and future business also). read more

I spent almost $2000 here to build my computer. I did not have to buy it here. People say it's cheaper than most places. But it's a lie. It's around the same price as other places. They try to get you to build a re built computer but when that department can't sell it to you, they just tell you to go to another department and brush you off. They don't care about customer service here at all. If Juan wasn't so nice, I would've given this place 1 star. I do not recommend any of my friends or to go to this for computer parts. They build it for you but it's a total rip off. $150 but they don't install windows for you. $200 but they will install windows for you. They say they price match but they get very angry with you, when you mention it, and then they will get you on technicalities in order to not price match. I do not see this place lasting for another 10 years. Horrible customer service!!!! Don't come here! The checkout people, the nastiest and rudest people I have ever met! They do not know what customer service is and completely hate their job! My hard drive failed on my 2009 MacBook so I took it here for repair. I dropped it off on Saturday around 2p and they told me they would call by Tuesday. They called Sunday afternoon with the diagnostics and told me they could have it repaired by Sunday at 5p. Quick turnaround and great customer service. read more

Rude cashier. I was at the Microcenter in Fairfax today 08/27/2023 around 1:15 PM EST, and there was a limited deal for a free usb flash drive. I was acquiring it for a family member. When I obtained it, he told me that he wanted the free 128 gb micro sd card instead, and asked for me to switch it out. When I asked for an exchange from the cashier, he kindly switched it out. After the transaction was complete, I asked "Is that it?" because I was curious about whether or not I was going to get a paper receipt or an email receipt, and he rudely yelled at me "Yeah, skedaddle!" I left without saying a word, however that was an incident where I felt I was being spoken to in a rude way. I would like an apology. read more

Microcenter is probably ok for buying parts. But not for service and repair. There is no way to communicate with them directly and when you use their central phone service to ask for a call back from a store, you are promised a call back within 24 hours. I have a service problem and have called several times waiting on hold for many minutes. Finally a rep takes my message and says that it will be relayed to the store and I would soon get an answer. But I never got a call back, just promises. So if you need them for service, you will not be able to get any information, it is just a black box with promises that go unfulfilled. read more

Came here to figure out why my MacBook couldn't boot. Liked that I to get in a virtual queue to get in the store. One of the more creative ways to limit the number of people in the store. They were super friendly and organized with the lines. Due to the amount of people bringing their computers in, they couldn't do an immediate diagnostic but they would take about 5 days for them to diagnose. They texted me and let me know that it died and gave me prices on how much parts and installation was. I opted to do it myself but Noah was super helpful to let me know what I needed. Prices were pretty comparable to online so it worked out pretty well for me. Definitely glad I was able to get my computer fixed here especially when there aren't many other places that could help me out in these times. I'll definitely be coming back soon. read more

I bought a laptop here about 2 years ago, under immense pressure from a salesman. I got it home and realized very quickly that this computer would not fit my needs, despite the salesman's insistence that it would. I went back to exchange it, and I was able to, after a very long wait. I got the new laptop home, and about 5 months later, that new laptop refused to charge. I took this one back, and after intense scrutiny from the staff, I was told they were unable to repair the laptop! They simply do not carry that brand's parts on site. I would either need to find another computer repair shop (for which they gave no recommendations) for the necessary repairs, or wait two weeks for it to be sent out, which in this day and age, it's almost impossible to go without a computer for that long. The manager then told me that the airplane carrying a shipment of laptops had de-pressurized in flight, and it had affected the computers they were selling. They are KNOWINGLY selling faulty products! So, I received my 3rd new laptop from them in the span of two years. I got the new laptop home, and after about 3 months, this one is having issues charging as well! The port is loose, and my laptop constantly beeps because the plug falls in and out of the port on its own. It's infuriating, not only for me, but also for the people around me. Now, the frame around the screen is cracking and coming loose as well. I have to believe this laptop was on the same airplane that had de-pressurized. Last time I went in, I was given no helpful assistance for the loose port issue. I CANNOT recommend this business at all. Do not give them your business! You'll save yourself many headaches by going elsewhere. read more

I ent back read the responses and actually just delays in their response and getting back to me. they explained their policies and helped me to understand and I appreciate that. hat I as looking for. They took this to another level and orked with mt to exchange the monitor. I did not expect them to do that. Also I am a disabled vet going through multiple surgeries and with that they also helped me with the logististics of the exchange. I definitely did not expect that. Sometimes things happen and we need to try to understand instead of villanize a company. I made a mistake doing just that. Customer service & technical support are AWFUL. After years of dissatisfaction with big-box computer stores I thought I'd give Micro Center a try. I could not have been more disappointed. To give a full accounting of my experience with Micro Center in Fairfax would take forever, so I'll summarize. My Dell desktop died after well being well less than 1 year-old. Despite multiple round-trips to their store lugging my computer back and forth, they failed at nearly everything: they didn't complete diagnostics or call with updates by when they promised; did not diagnose and fix my computer problems properly even after more than one attempt; and, to my own layman's understanding - and I am NOT a tech guy, so this is just my opinion - made at least one substantial error in judgment in trying to remedy my situation. I finally returned the computer and insisted on a full refund. This was the single worst customer service I have had in my life. I'll never again darken their doorways. read more

To prefix this I used to love Microcenter fairfax, legit the friendliest most passionate/knowledgeable people I've dealt with when it came to tech things. However it looks like lots has changed since covid 19 hit, including the staff. I brought in my PC which was built by Microcenter a couple years ago because it was running super hot and crashed for a checkup. Decided to pack the power cable along with it since... well they need to power it right? Was greeted by literally the most unenthusiastic tech at the service counter in the middle of a conversation with his colleague complaining about how understaffed they were. Think the bag people at giant during thanksgiving attitude, overworked, super done with life, would like to be literally anyone but there dealing with ur computer issues. Like, I get it you have every right to hate ur job but maybe don't make it so obvious? I don't wanna deal with my computer issues either, but that's why I didn't choose that as my profession. You did, so be professional. It's like handing ur child over to a surgeon who looks hung over for a his heart surgery, who wants to do that? But hey it's Microcenter so fuck it, they always give great results. The tech found the issue, fixed it, and I made some time in a busy schedule to drive over and pick it up (for reference I've migrated to the other side of the greenway so yay tolls out the ass :)) Once I got home, I unpacked the PC from its box only to find, no power cable. Seriously? Ok fine I'll give them a call for some assurance they have it. 45 mins with no elevator music or anything playing can't even tell if it's connected and no one answering. Looked at the time and decided I'd rather wreck my evening instead of wrecking my entire day tomorrow, so made the hr + drive back to Microcenter. Got there and there was literally NO ONE at services it was empty including where the phone is, and Microcenter was NOT closed yet. What they were doing and where they went not a clue but as soon as I asked for a manager (yes I was being a Karen, but if u don't want Karen then do your job properly?) they all magically started appearing out of the woodworks from the back? Lovely. Manager asked my my receipt, I didn't have one bc why the hell would I keep it after I picked up my fixed computer? Instead of asking for my last name so she can look it up she decided to go into the back and grab any random cable laying around and told me "we don't hold cables". It took me a solid 5 mins to digest that, turned around and ask if this was MY cable that I brought it with my rig. She said she has no way of knowing. According to her "shit happens" and it just is what it is unless I labeled my cable with my name. Excuse me? Why do I need to label my cable with my name do I need to put a name tag on each piece of my build so u don't accidentally stick it in someone else's build too? What is this kindergarten? Your techs should be organized enough to discern one customers PC parts apart from another customers and also apart from the spare parts. Your "shit happens" cost me 20$ in tolls and 2 hours of my life, maybe do an introspective on why your staff can't complete the most fundamental parts of their job instead of me being a Karen (which i 100% was, but u know? Maybe if the tech did their job properly there wouldn't need to be a karen. But hey shit happens right? :)) Tldr; bring shit in for service here at ur own risk and make sure you have plenty of gas and patience to make multiple trips in case "shit happens" (one star for the fact they gave me some sort of diagnostic, and another for a tossing some random spare cables at me) read more

System Sales associate Tanjim Labib listened very well, asked great questions about my past experience and current needs, and located the exact model of laptop that I was looking for! I've been going to Micro Center for 10 years now because not only do they have everything you need under one roof ... but the sales staff there are always helpful, unobtrusive and have never tried to "oversell" items. And I'm an Apple user. Today my keyboard crapped out and I ran to MicroCenter. The gentleman in the Apple section did not let me down. I was struck by his genuine knowledge and kindness. I'm sorry I didn't get his name. Because of experiences like this ... and their always affordable insurance/maintenace plans ... I make my senior parents use Micro Center and I take the 30 minute drive there and back. Because we all know the Apple store, while super sleek and sexy, isn't stocking affordable options. read more
