I cracked my phone. I have insurance. I filed a claim. Asurion summoned me to their store called 'ubreakifix' in Springfield Virginia. I left my phone with a gentleman named Tim who worked there. When I picked up my repaired phone, several hours later I noticed it was still damaged. When I asked about why my new screen replacement had two big cracks in it the representative Grant told me that "THEY WERE JUST DUST MITES" I asked Tim to wipe them off he was unable to do so. He told me to file a new warranty with Asurion, I told him that is not how this is supposed to work. Tim walked away mid conversation, leaving me with a cracked screen. It took a lot of time and I was let down. I refuse to start this process all over again.... And no one is taking responsibiltiy.... I escaleted this to asurion to no avail. read more

Scam riddled policies and awful practices. Had a claim through Asurion for a front screen repair on a phone with completely fine internals, motherboard, but due to cracking on the back a $29 dollar screen replacement "could not be done", and instead a $250 replacement sham for an iPhone 15 pro. All of this despite the fact that I relayed the cracked back when I went to fill out my claim, and specifically stated I only wanted the front fixed, to which they obliged. I was ready to wait two hours to have the screen fixed, but the staff woman behind the counter (Gail) discovered that it was only my screen protector that was cracked. Really very unprofessional. The manager arrived to open the store 15-20 minutes late with multiple customers waiting in the rain. The emails I received stated that the fix would be an hour , instead I was quoted 1 full day. I suggested that they advise people of this prior to making the appointment or through one of the many reminder emails and texts they send out prior the appointment. There is no reason this cannot be done since they ask for all of the information when you make the appointment. -- they cannot say they didn't know. AVOID! This location will con you!! Brought my phone in because ocean water got inside it. They charged me $50 to try and fix it but said they couldn't. I then went to 4 other locations (including other ubreakifix) locations and every one of them immediately said there is no way to fix it and every fix-it store knows internal ocean water damage can't be fixed once the phone short circuits. This shop knew my phone was ruined and unrepairable when I entered but still charged me money to "try" and fix it. This particular shop took me for a $50 ride and likely didn't even do anything because there is nothing that can be done short of sending my phone to a specialty lab where they charge thousands to extract the info. You should avoid this location! Even other ubreakifix locations are more legit, it is simply the people working at this location that are con artists. read more

We brought a PS4 console here with a broken eject button. Should have been a pretty simple fix. The diagnostic fee was $60, to be credited toward any repairs. We were told that they would need to order a part, but when we came to pick it up, not only had they not fixed the issue, they hadn't ordered the part or done any repair at all. They only told us what would need to be repaired (costing more money) and how to manually eject a disk through the console settings. Zero work done. We won't be back. read more

Not only was he able to locate a replacement battery for my three year-old Samsung phone, but a new screen as well. The following week I had him install new RAM and a new SSD in my four year-old Acer laptop. He was so patient and helpful. No need to even think about going elsewhere in the future. They collect your phone number to text you and email to email you but clearly that's just so they can sell their list, not so they can contact you to tell you they can't fulfill the promise of their reservation system. Also, speaking of bad website design, there's no way to cancel an appointment just reschedule into the future. I'm sure there's no problem there. I rescheduled to a day they were open on their sign. I went to the store located near the Springfield Mall in Virginia today. I had previously made a 12 noon appointment describing the problem online, but then when I went for the appointment regarding my laptop LED screen light not working, I was told that I would be job number 51 in queue which man that I would have to either leave the laptop with them for several weeks or come back in a couple weeks to have the problem worked on. I was told that the only way the process could be speed it up is if I paid around $380 for some kind of service plan and then they would start working on it quickly and within the next two or three business days. In other words, this business totally wasted my time. There was no indication when I made the online appointment that I would be number 51 in terms of getting service unless I paid a couple hundred dollars to move to the front of the line so to speak. Kind of feels like bait and switch. So obviously now I'm using someone else to take care of my laptop problem. read more

Always was skeptical of these break it, we fix it places. Heard some horror stores about people going through your phone, looking/taking personal/private things on your devices you turn in for repairs. When my Samsung Galaxy S8 decided it wanted to go flying out from the car then proceeded to get run over on a Saturday evening. I did some research, these newer phones, its a pain in the butt without the proper tools. uBreakiFix came up as repair place with same day service. I did some research & read reviews. This one location had the best reviews. I can see why now. They are open everyday including Sundays! They also have different options to bring your devices (laptop, phones from Andriod Apple, Google, tablets, ipods, computers, gaming consoles) in, walk in, curbside, they come to you or mail it in. Inside the store, it was clean, sign/posters on the wall saying Certified Authorized Samsung Repair along with Google & Apple Certified. Authorized repair shop for different phone carriers for insurance tickets/claims. They use genuine not aftermarket parts (they also do have generic part for those who don't want to try and save) Walked in, Sandy greeted me, said "Hi, ill be right with you", there was a few other people inside. When speaking to Sandy, she was polite, professional & friendly. She told me upfront how much it would be (roughly $307, $219 for front screen with digitizer & $70 for the back glass w/frame & battery) & why, how with my phone the front glass would be replaced with the digitizer, also the back/battery would have to be replaced also the frame and run a full diagnostic on the phone and will tell me if there was anything else wrong with it. She said it would be about 2 1/2 to 3hrs and they will call when its all set to be picked up. They called a few hours later and said it was all set to go. Sandy handed my phone back, asked me to check it out make sure everything was working. The phone looked brand new right out of the box. Got a new phone (new front/back glass digitizer & battery) for more than half of the cost of new phone & getting it set up! We brought our PC here that had a power button issue and decided to have the data backed up to an external drive since the power button couldn't be fixed. Once we got home, we discovered some other customer's tax returns had been saved to our drive, NONE OF OUR DATA had been backed up, YEARS of family's ancestry research and photos plus tons of continuing education coursework had been lost! The original PC had been wiped at our request, since we were assured our data had been backed up. No compensation or solution was offered... Very disappointing and heartbreaking. I would NOT recommend using this service or location if you value your data. We still don't know if the other customer got our data since we got hers... The people who work here are doing their best but there is no reason people like me having something that takes 1 min should be sitting behind ppl needing diagnostics. Have a pay over the phone system or something. I have never spent any shorter than 30 mins to achieve anything in this place. I waited there for 45 mins to pick up my electronics in an unmoving queue before giving up and walking out. They have very limited hours, few employees, and the few they have move at a snails pace. Do that over a phone call, the storefront should only be for dropping off and picking up not consultations. I am sympathetic to covid complications but there's no excuse for not coming up with some solutions that might lead to some measure of efficiency. If you have all the time in the world this might be the place for you. If you are a normal person I recommend going literally anywhere else. read more

I was giving a quote of $369 to repair a cracked screen of an iPad Pro. I called a second time to confirm the price because it was lower than any other repair shop. The quote was the same on the second call and I even got the name of the employee that gave me the quote. When I drove to the store (45 mins from my house) they told me that it would cost $500 to fix the iPad Pro. I told the clerk the quote was $369 and that price was given to me twice over the phone. After going back and forth they agreed to the quoted price. The next day they called me and claimed they couldn't repair it because the "frame was bent". I never dropped the iPad on the frame, a battery was dropped on the top of the glass and cracked the screen, the iPad had always been in a hard case and never been dropped.. So the "frame was bent'' was just an excuse to not repair and honor the previous quoted price of $369. I then took the iPad Pro to two repair shops and both confirmed that the frame wasn't damaged and Ubreakifix just didn't want to honor the original quoted price. If the frame was really bent they would have told me that on the initial inspection, but it wasn't bent. They wasted my valuable time and I ended up having to repair the iPad Pro at Apple which was double the repair cost of Ubreakifixit, just so I wouldn't have to go through the hassle again of a shady local repair shop. Very bad business practices at Ubreakifix, have your employees give the correct quote over the phone, and if they make a mistake, honor the quote and don't lie about the condition of the iPad to weasel out of an agreement. Or simply just don't LIE to customers. read more

Update: My camera is still having frequent issues. My phone is significantly slower on apps that require high performance compared to before I had my repair here. My wifi is completely awful, it could be my ISP network throttling or just my wifi, but I believe they've tempered with the insides of my phone without my permission. Again, please avoid going here. I wanted to give zero stars but I don't think that's an option. I rarely leave reviews but I was compelled to do so this time to warn other customers. Please stay away from this place. There are better options in the area that can fix your electronics in a timely matter and for the same if not better prices. My experience at this place consists of the technicians giving me a time of repairs to be done. Just to find out there would be an extra 2-3 more days for repairs due to there being to much work. 1st don't give an estimate if you can't complete the repairs in that time frame, 2nd this show poor time management from their technicians and lack of work structure. Then when I complain they somehow promise me it would be done by the end of the day I called for a status update. I show up and they had me waiting for 45 min. They finally come out to give me my electronic just to find out they repaired the wrong item and where ready to give me another person's electric. How careless can you be? How disorganized can you be to work on the wrong item and just hand it to the wrong customer? Never again. Please be warned. Your electronics are not safe at this place and the repairs done of the item he handed me where wayyyyyyy below standards. The screen was not flush and there was visible gaps. Took my phone to this location for a battery replacement about 10 days ago. Spent about 10 minutes discussing the replacement with one of store employees. Employee took my phone to show to another employee in the back. Returned and said they could do it but would need to order the battery. Took down my contact info and opened a ticket. Even gave me a little sticker to place on my phone for when I'd come back when battery arrived. Employee said they would call by 4pm that day with a price and estimate on when battery might arrive. It's been 10+ days and no contact from store. Called today only to find out they had the ticket opened but didn't fill in the information about my phone that we discussed so they had no idea what battery to order. I was very impressed by Mac, the tech person manning the front store. I brought in my cellphone 5/2/2021 because Iit wasn't charging at all. While Mac confirmed the charging problem and repairing the phone, he checked for other problems and noted various other problems. He suggested that instead of UBreakIFix addressing all the problems and charging me for parts and repair, it would be cheaper for me to buy a new phone. The first was at 10 AM, but apparently the location decided it won't open till noon and cannot do computer repairs! So headquarters called another store and got me a noon appointment. I told them I needed to have the computer back by Monday, even if not repaired by then and they said that was fine.
