Went in today to get a few computer components - checkout time was around 10 minutes to get to an actual cashier. While waiting in line I decided to search the web on my cell for price comparisons...one item was cheaper here the rest were significantly cheaper at Amazon. Fast forward, I get to the cashier and ask if they price match (the cashier was visibly unhappy I asked ) and the answer I got was "sorta sometimes there's a lot involved with that request and you should speak to a sales associate on the floor and come back" Wasn't about to wait in that mess again so I ask for the Manager and step out of line with my items so the other customers could check out. About 5 mins later she arrives and I ask the same question - she said it depends. She took the 6 items and began to search on Amazon. She found the items but said she'd only Match 1 of the duplicate items I had and not both. The difference here was $28.00 each of the two items. I walked away and left the cart and items. Price matching shouldn't be this difficult but I imagine it's that way on purpose. About a half hour arriving to register, waiting in line, waiting for manager and waiting for a matching decision. Not worth it. 2 stars since it's better than Frys in other regards but I'll be buying online for a Majority of my stuff going forward. read more

I am totally not an electronic nerd, but I can definitely compare prices for good quality stuff. My boyfriend's birthday is coming up and I needed to get him a whole new set of computer, a desktop. Good thing that I have a good friend that, indeed, is an electronic nerd, especially for computers. I had to take him along to show me what to get and what not to get. He pointed out a lot of good stuff that would certainly be great for my boyfriend for very, very good prices! That's what I love about this place. I mean, wireless Logitec keyboard AND mouse for 30 bucks! It wasn't an ugly one either. So I ended up with a whole new set for just under $700. Not bad. I would usually always expect for sales representatives to be running all around us, trying to get commissions. It was weird, though, for that day when my friend and I stopped in. We were totally in our own little world. Nobody, I mean, NO ONE, came up to us and ask if we needed any help! What I hate is when they try to help and WILL NOT leave when I already know what I'm looking for and doing. So this time, it was good. What I also really hate is when I am about to check out, the sales representative guy rushes over to try and help us with the bulky boxes, and while he's at it, stick stickers with his name on them... to get credit for something he did not do. And that is exactly what one guy did to us. I hated him for doing that, so I pealed his stickers off. There went is his commissions. He totally did not deserve it one bit. This may be an odd ball place but every once in a while you'll find those rare deals that make your jaw drop and you just have to buy it. Like the generic 1 GB thumb drive for less than 10 bucks. Thats less than 10 with out a rebate or any other nonsense sale. If you get their e-mails you get more discounts and even better they're starting to get cheaper than fry's with better quality. This microcenter isn't quite up to the quality I'm used to. The ones in Ohio were much better with service. The service center at this location could stand for a new manager truly. While I am somewhat tech savvy, I'm still not the most comfortable with pc parts so I prefer to have someone else who is more qualified deal with it. However, after experiences with the service center here, fairly certain their requirements for employment are a pulse and having owned a computer once before. Have had two computers built by them now, first one had to be taken back as they didnt connect the hard drive appropriately so it wasnt booting. Second computer they didnt install any drivers, parts of the case weren't attached appropriately, here i am now 5 months later, video card seems to be having faulty fans, literally just need them to listen to the pc for bout a minute, and then decide if I should use the warranty on the video card or not, but apparently that requires me leaving the computer for 4 days? Logic i was given is they have 11 custom builds to assemble. Yes this might sound daunting if you know literally nothing about building computers, but when I see 6-8 employees back there... Unless they are completely incompetent those builds can be done in a day and a half with just half the employees dedicated to them and the others working on actual repairs... The store itself is alright. Some employees are helpful. Others seem like lifesize bobbleheads. Best thing for the store is the selection. The service center though is quite slow and relatively terrible. read more

Even if it's paid for! 12/17/2018 I bought my son a used Dell laptop for Christmas 2018, and purchased the 1 year warranty. November 2019 (Still under one year additionally purchased Warranty until mid-December) It worked well until Mid November 2019 when the WLAN(Internal WIFI) started to fail. At first I thought it was just a software issue, but was wrong and ended up taking the computer in to have it looked at. They came to the conclusion that the internal part was bad and instead of fixing it tried to sell me an external USB Wifi adapter. I did bring this up to their support. John B. got back to me and tried to make it right. 12/2/2019 Brandon, the Manager from my local store contacted me. We ended up speaking on the phone. He made up a bunch of excuses why they did not replace the defective part and apologized for it and went ahead to order a new part to internally fix the issue. He said he would contact me back in an hour or so with an ETA on it's arrival so I could take the computer back in and have it repaired correctly. I never heard back from him! I ended up replacing the part myself and it worked up until here recently when it started doing the exact same thing again. Failing in the exact same manner. I have reinstalled the OS with no affect, I also performed a fresh install of Windows 10 without any success. It works for a few moments and starts an endless cycle of starting and restarting according to the event viewer. 1/2/2020 So I emailed their support line back, and they agreed that the way I have been treated it unacceptable and it would be sent to a higher authority. This has been a week or so ago now and I have yet to hear anything back from that Either So here I am with what I assume a bad mother board that keeps taking the life of the WIFI card in a laptop that was under warranty when the issue first appeared, no help to be found, no one that seems to really care enough to even honor their own warranty. I feel cheated, taken advantage of, and treated like an idiot. What makes it all worse, is that they are not just doing this to me, but to my Child as well! I'm not ging to say don't buy here at all because they pretty much own this game in my town and that would be hard to do. But don't give them a dime more than you have to, and definitely do not expect them to hold up to their end of the bargain! Good Luck! read more

I rarely venture out to Micro Center--time between my visits measure in years, not weeks. One reason is that Micro Center is something of a drive for me when Fry's Electronics is merely a few minutes away. However, I tend to like the smaller store footprint (focused primarily on computer and office products), the friendly sales staff (who don't stalk you everywhere in the store trying to upsell you on products), and the crazy deals they sometimes offer (most often beating out Fry's and online shopping deals). It took an awesome, can't-miss-this deal on a motherboard/cpu combo to drag my butt over to Richardson and buy one. Luckily, they were restocking the parts in time for my visit. Score! My workplace has a business account with Micro Center and regularly purchase their electronic and computer supplies here. I rarely hear of or experience any problems with their ordering system. I also like the convenience of online ordering/store pickups for that near-instant shopping gratification. It's worth watching their sales circulars regularly, and I'll definitely be back again if a fabulous deal catches my attention. read more

The place has a feel of blah Lighting in this place not so bright People in here are so gloomy The decor just speaks do not be in a happy mood The reason here is returning a printer for girlfriend mother and that has become a TWO hour ordeal!! Yikes!! And the person helping seems like has no life no energy. At least he keeps trying. This is reference to try to make sure a printer works before leaving with a different one. This place really needs to be revamped. My beef really is with the warranty work on my IPad. Needed to have the screen replaced because it got broke. No issue here, I bought a warranty on that. Go in, go to the computer to enter my data for repairs. It obvious what is wrong, repair persons comes up looks at us, how can I help you? We need this repaired. Did you fill out the information on the computer? Uh, yes. What's your name, now he looks it up. Not Good Morning, can I have your name to look you up? Oh, ok I see you here, ok it will be back in 4-5 days--- walks away. No Thank you, you have any more questions or concerns? Get an email for a link to watch progress. Click it and it tells me in approval stage. Approval? Two days later a nice gentleman calls to let me know it was approved. 2 days, wow I thought this was a electronics-computer business. They send approval by snail mail? What is this telling me? They don't trust computers? Click on link 3 days after that - in repair. I call to see if I can get better info, oh we have to send that off to California? WHAT.!?! I could have got a Groupon and got it fixed the same day. Clicked everyday for a week and it kept saying in repair. Sent emails no response or change. O. K. Enough, Called to talk to Service Manager. We both were not happy when I got off the phone. But did get, "I will call you back". 2 days later... I called store manager, but had to leave message. Did get a call back from Service Manage. I guess Store Manage was still in meeting. Finally got the call it was ready after 15 days, repeat 15 DAYS! Went to pick IPad up, uhm, I don't see it here. Good grief. I was called and told it was ready. Told her the Service Manage had called me. She goes to Service Manage-he's on phone. Not calling me for sure. She tells me he will be right with me. 10 minutes later I am still without my IPad. I ask her again, after she and another guy waited on about 5 other people. Manage gives her my IPad. I ask why he just could not have done that in the first place. Ask to talk to store manage. He/she never showed up either. Maybe store manage and Service Manage was LOL on the phone with each other. Now my IPad barley picks up Internet and runs slows. The time before that was another year prior where my friend's battery had died and I went to help him push start his car. Today, I arrived because I had gotten information that they had electronic components (resistors, capacitors, etc) and that the selection here was better than Fry's. I didn't think it possible, but the selection here at Micro Center is *worse* than Fry's. It's actually worse than Radio Shack if you can imagine that. Seriously, I would never have thought I would say that. At this point, my own personal collection is better than what you can get here. It's terrible. Utterly terrible. If you read Popular Mechanics or Popular Science, you'll read some of the DIY stuff that uses Arduino electronic hobby kits. Micro Center has a ton of them. I used to love Microcenter way back in the day but not now... Last year I placed an order for a laptop online. Order was cancelled without explanation four days later. When I called to inquire about the order, they informed me they were out of stock. It took you four days to realize that? Sorry, I'm not buying that excuse. The service in stores is lacking, but the service in this location is exceptionally lacking. I guess if you don't fit the demographic (nerdy gamer guys) then they don't feel inclined to talk to you. I came in to have a monitor fixed because of pixel tearing but the worker there said there was physical damage before plugging it in. I told him there was no and I had warranty. His colleage told him just to plug it in. He then comes back to me and he still think it's physical damage and told me to leave. I went back to get a second one and didn't want to argue or anything. I had good experience in the past so I wasn't going to let this one guy ruin it. As I come back to get my "broken" monitor, his supervisor comes to me and she says "what is your problem" I explained and then the first service guy tells him it's physical damage and I told her they just need to turn it on to see pixel tearing. She takes his word and asks me to leave, but then her manager comes and asks me the same thing. At this point i gave up on even trying to get the second monitor and told them they could have just left me alone and they would have still gotten my business. You should come here if you are building a PC. Furthermore, service is better than a box store. I greatly appreciate this fact. Make sure you know exactly what you need before coming in as the reps can just sell you crap you don't need. For example, the seller can forget about small parts you don't know about and so would not suggest you get it or help you. You cannot rely on them for help. We had a rep help us build a PC, since we had an itemized list of what we needed, but he forgot an adapter case for our SSD and added a cable we did not need. We do not live in Dallas and we drove a few cities over to get to this store, to forget one part was fustrating for us. We later had to drive 30 minutes to Frye's to get this adapter case. Additionally, I asked our seller for help over the internet and he suggested a switchboard, however, after consulting some friends, what we really needed was a router. I give Micro Center 5 stars in their service/repair department. I have been without a job due to Covid. My laptop is my only tool I have to seeking employment. The worse timing my hard drive crashed. I called around to multiple IT/Computer places near my home in far North Dallas. Left multiple messages and emails and not one computer place called me back. My next attempt Best Buy (Geek Squad). Never could get a live person and appointments were made via on line and were booked out 3 - 4 weeks at many locations and once Geek Squad analysis problem another 2 - 4 weeks for laptop to be sent out and repaired . There was a great review on a computer repair shop's website about Micro Center so I called got in within 2 days and my laptop was up and running in 2 days. Thank you Steve for being so polite and understanding the need for my laptop to be analyzed quickly and fixed ASAP due to no job! You were awesome at talking me through the procedures, costs, and what was best for me due to my job and financial situation. Always calling me and updating me on how things were going. Steve you rock! It is great customer service provided people like you that I will share with others. I had to walk thru a mob of people at the front of the store to scan a piece of paper to get a place in line, walk back to my car and then go back thru the mob again to get into the store. Once I picked up my item, I then had to walk past all the registers where the people were not 6 feet apart. Micro Center is the place to for in the Dallas area if you know what you're looking for, and if you don't well, then it's still the place to go. They have well trained and knowledgeable staff who are able to help you find the part that's right for you. The rest is somewhat technical until you get to the "Return" section. Back in January I purchased a motherboard, CPU and Micro Center brand 4GB of memory. This week I decided to upgrade to 8GB using 4GB more with the same SKU. When I got the new memory home and put it in the computer, it wouldn't boot. Diagnosed a bad dimm so went back and exchanged it. Put the new dimm in the system and started getting random crashes. Since I had the packing for the original dimms and the new ones, I brought the whole lot back and went to the returns department. This is the "Returns" section I mentioned earlier! The guy at the returns desk suggested I go the hardware section since they can assist me. He did recommend not using the Micro Center brand memory though! I was assisted by a knowledgeable sales person who talked about voltages (I didn't even think about the voltage on the memory!). He recommended a package of different memory which turned out to be cheaper than the ones I originally purchased. Back to the returns desk. I explained that the original memory was from January and wanted to swap all 4 bits for the 2 new ones. A quick call to his manager to authorize the transaction and I was set. When I got home, the memory worked perfectly and I now have a very fast PC. The other reason I have to give Micro Center 5 stars is their 18 minute pickup. Just order online, then pay online or at the store when you pick the goods up, which I recommend in case you have someone collect them for you. You receive an email when your products are ready, this is usually on my drive down to the store from Plano. I remember back in 1996 I paid $1500 for my first PC from Micro Center and now CompUSA in Plano is closed, there may be closer places, but they're my first choice. read more

This is a computer supply chain store that has a more established brand name in the North East. But I'm glad they have a location in Dallas. For a selection of technical manuals, it's really hard to beat their selection. Plus they have slightly outdated manuals for a few bucks each (still some good information in a two year old programming guide). On the software side, they have an aisle dedicated to shareware and discount software... nobody else in Dallas has a selection like this. You can load up your cart with impulse software for next to nothing. It might not be the greatest apps ever, but sometimes you can find something useful. They are an authorized Apple reseller, and you'll likely get someone more experienced helping you than at Best Buy. They have a great selection (a whole room actually) dedicated to Apple products, peripherals, and software. On the PC side, they have OK pricing on component parts, and a good selection similar to Fry's without the display space; Every nook is jammed with product, from lower cost to fully-loaded components. They also have an excellent selection of varying degrees of computers, laptops, and monitors. Some decent sale items too. Definitely this place competes with Fry's and Best Buy, and blows the carcass off the business that is called CompUSA today. read more

I purchased a new laptop last week from Micro Center in Dallas. I'll admit that I'm picky and critical in buying stuff. I was helped by Rendon McWilliams who spent nearly an hour with me answering questions and giving data on the two Lenovo laptops I was considering - even though I told him I couldn't buy one for a couple of weeks. He was outstanding . Finally I did get back to town and dropped by and Rendon helped me get my purchase down and the right additions. Again, outstanding. As I was waiting for him to get the product to the front the manager of the section came by to thank me for the purchase and make sure everything was good. Then checking out the store manager saw my purchase order and pulled me up front and took me to a cashier. Great service all around on a busy day. Great laptop and I'd recommend them anytime. They have a ton of random e-crap but seriously how do you talk to me for an hour about a MacBook Pro retina display and how it's a better choice for school than a MacBook Air -- which I already have at home -- then keep asking me if I want the $1099 version or $1199 (the latter is the lowest entry point for the new Pro), then in the end, put a MacBook Air on the ticket and let me walk out of there with an Air when you know I already have one??? That's not even all of the confusion and me wandering around from the sales guy directing me to various parts of the store for no reason. I would very much recommend this store. I was looking for a specific controller for a game and looked up fry's on line and they said they had it. I drove to one location that did not have it and they looked it up and told me another location across the city had it. I drove across town and was told they did not have it either. Seeing my frustration the fry's employee looked around and then leaned in to me and said, that the employee's there knew to go to Micro Center when looking for anything PC related. I had never heard of Micro Center and the Fry's employee gave me directions to the store. Turns out it was just a few minutes down the highway. So I drove over there, explained to an associate what I was looking for and he found it in just a couple of minutes. Since then I have been back several time and they have always had what I am looking for, and the prices are reasonable. My latest purchase was a video card that was on sale and they had limited supply of. I looked it up on line and was told how many they had left and what isle they were on. Got there a few minutes after opening the next day and got my new video card. I love this store and the only negative so far is that they are clear across town from where I am at. It is a very long drive for me across horrible highway construction. If they would just open a location in my area it would be perfect. read more

Horrible experience with this store today 10-5-2019. I called micro center to see if they could replace my Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Laptop because the screen in bulging and coming off the adhesive. I purchased a 2-year replacement warranty on this tablet and it's still under warranty. The customer service person on the phone told me to bring my defective device into their store in Dallas for a replacement. After driving almost 2 hours to the store, I went to the service department and the service manager told me that they would try to fix the screen and send the laptop out to the microsoft store. I told him that I did not believe this laptop could be fixed and would rather have a replacement since it's under replacement warranty. He said that he would not replace it, so I decided to talk to the store manager. The store manager was even more rude and told me that if I wanted to purchase another tablet while they repaired the defective unit, that was his solution. I told him that I had already spent almost $200 for the warranty on a $800 tablet and that it should be replaced. He told me that he would not replace it period. So I walked out of the store without a solution or a functional laptop. I use this laptop as a pilot device in a system I'm designing. And I had decided to use the microsoft surface Pro tablet as a solution to my system, but after having this awful experience at this micro center store, forget it, I will not buy anything from this store or from microsoft again. What I did not tell the micro center Dallas store was that if they had been more forthcoming and would have given me a replacement for my unit in warranty, I would have considered purchasing from 200 to 1000 more tablets from them for my business systems. They lost business, and microsoft too for not monitoring their distributors customer service. read more

I really dislike going into this place. I usually ask if I can just stay in the car when my husband wants to pick up something. The place feels old, it's full of weirdos, and the staff is not usually helpful. This is going to be my most positive review about the store because I just wanted to purchase 2 Micro Center USB Flash Drives. I've never had a problem with them, and they are cheap! I got straight in line, waited less than 5 mins to go to a cashier, purchased the flash drives at the counter, and wasn't given a hard time about not giving out my phone number!
