Microcenter knowingly sells computer components that do not work. I won't spoil which component that is because finding out is half the fun... at least that's what I take their response to my situation to mean. They were aware of the issue with the component before it ever arose in my build, so I don't anticipate them not selling this component to future builders. It's prominently displayed as of today. Buy at your own risk and be prepared to be funneled into their $150 rebuild program if you tire of troubleshooting to identify the broken component they sold you. To be clear, the broken component wasn't a defect as I was instructed to choose a different model entirely during the rebuild process because of a known issue. hmm... So what's the component that will cost you hours of troubleshooting or $150 if you don't have the time to isolate variables and identify and half a dozen trips to MC in any situation? Cost me AT LEAST $100. Placed a order Friday afternoon and waited for the order to be processed for FOUR days. Just got a notification saying the order could no longer be processed. Funny considering i purchased the last one and had a pending payment for that time period. Best Buy can deliver a order in a hour or less. Are you really telling me that Micro center is at least 48 times more inefficient? I understand Covid is wreaking havoc on supply systems, but if your going to render a option impotent you might as well remove it. The simple phrase "Where sorry but do to the incredible influx of traffic we cannot meet online orders at this time" is ALL you need to do. Instead you leave people hanging for parts that are likely going to be gone before they'll fill the order, and credit card charges that may or may not be charged for nearly a week. read more

I have never been so terrified in my life. This place needs to revert to only letting 5-7 customers in the store at a time. Sure they try and take social distancing seriously but only when it comes to the.cAsh register and waiting in line. The isles are a complete nightmare. There is no way possible to actually keep your distance long as there hundreds of people in this store at one time. This location in Dallas is not built for keeping your distance it's impossible. If I were you I'd order online or just not go Neil this whole pandemic is over.I read the review here stating that they clean your hands before you come in it that's not going to work period. I really loved coming here. Usually I go to Fry's but I got tired of how they treated me like I didn't know anything. Micro Center treats you like you know what you're doing there and only answers questions when you directly answer them. It doesn't feel stuck up or like they think they know better. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. Only complaint is that everything is kind of lost in a maze of everything else. Not a huge deal as staff is pretty knowledgeable as to where everything is, but sometimes I'd prefer to have no interaction with someone at the store and have a quick in and out. read more

So on this site they advertise a "18 Minute Pickup". Well I tried to use that today, and when I arrived at the store, I was informed I had to stand in the line for the In-Store Checkout in order to pick up my order which they had already pulled. The line was so long that it would have taken 1 Hour or more just to get up the counter where my items were waiting. Nothing was said about this change online. I made it very clear this had to be a mistake, and the associate multiple times told me no, I had to go to the back of the line which was zig-zagged through their store. I left, gave my business to Amazon, and will not be back. If you can argue with me, you can check me out, or you can loose the sale. read more

Microcenter has always been good to me, but... I bought a 3 monitor mount that was store brand (Inland) that advertised 45 degrees of swivel for monitors up to 30 inches. Seems reasonable for a $100 monitor stand. Upon putting it together and mounting my monitors (27in monitors, very slim bezels), it became clear that the stand can't live up to what was advertised on the box, in fact there was no swivel at all due to the size of the monitors. I took my monitors off, left it assembled, and threw it in the trunk, because I'm not about to spend 2 hours disassembling a store brand item that was falsely advertised as having features it didn't have. If it were another companies product, fine. Not on a store brand item though, it is on Microcenter's end to take care of their own error. When I brought the complete package in, with all hardware in convenient ziploc bags so parts didn't missing and the original box, a female woman in returns rudely said "that is NOT how you do returns" and then called someone as loudly as possible to disassemble it as to cause a scene. It is 100% on microcenter for misrepresenting a product they contracted, so it is on microcenter to tear down the product, not mine. As a customer who has spent well over $2000 this year at this store, this is not how I expect to be treated. They did not respect my time when they misrepresented their product, they did not respect me when I returned it, and they did not respect my loyalty to their store. In the past, the 2 times I've returned things (one monitor arrived doa, which was a known issue with that shipment, and one time where I decided to go for a ryzen 7 over a ryzen 5), it's always been a pleasant experience. 2/3 is a 67% and that is a failing grade. To the sales team's credit, they said they would mention this issue to anyone who asks about the item, but that's not enough. The item should be pulled and labeled appropriately. Ironically, online it only advertises 15 degrees, but at 27 in there is no tilt at all, period. My experience here has been a mixed bag. It's certainly a fantasy land come true to the geekster putting a new system together, but there are some shortfalls that would be worth addressing if they want to beat competition: - Oftentimes you'll find stock without tags, and you find yourself asking customer service to get simple details like the price (or heck, even the model of the unit) - Customer service is hit or miss. The tech sections where you buy the computer guts tend to have the better end of the spectrum of service. People are more knowledgeable and will have ready answers to most of your IT questions. On the other hand, you can also get snark and attitude at the front desk when ordering stock or picking something up. - Their prices are sometimes competitive with online retailers, but sometimes not. They occasionally reel myself and my fellow IT colleagues in with free thumb drive vouchers, but outside of that it's best to double check online listings when you want higher dollar items. The only thing I don't like is that they gave department zone leaders who either haggle you for commissioned sales or the other extreme get completely ignored. I receive both -- sadly when I need help no one seems approachable or likable. That said can't beat their prices on a lot of items especially their SD cards they sale at the registers. read more

I love this store and would have given five stars except the sales staff is not all that friendly and one time when I bought my new Mac the guy working the internet orders desk was rude as hell and acted like I was bothering him. Overall I still shop here and will continue to shop here, they have the best prices on Apple products of anywhere beating out Amazon and Apple Computers themselves. So the acer laptop we bought didn't work so great it was slow we bought it for an early Christmas gift for my wife. I used my debit/credit card. Roughly $570.00. I went back only 2 days after the purchase for the return. Swiped my card for the return it is now been 9 days we still haven't seen a refund. There's always a deal to be had here. Much smaller than Fry's, but generally everything is cheaper than it is there. The selection can be sparse, and if it's on sale they're probably out of it..but they'll usually do rain checks. I bought a TV here and couldn't be happier with it. They were closing the model out and I bought the last one..the floor model. They gave me can additional 15% off, which made the 40' Samsung only a hair over $200. I stole it basically!! I like that I can buy it online and pick it up too..if it's a deep discounted item I can ensure I get one before the hordes descend on the place. Always happy here:) read more

This place seems decent at first, but it really is not. Almost every time I come in, they make me fill out a tax free application for business related purchses. They list prices in their little handouts, but when you actually bring something listed in it to the register it always rings up more; they conveniently leave out the fact that you will need to fill out a mail-in rebate in order to get the lower price. The cashier I had once told me they don't even have knowledge about it being a rebate until customers complain about the price. Very uptight people run this place, I'm sure. The whole suit and tie thing is weird, and you can tell most of the people who work here don't enjoy themselves very much. Furthermore, they are quite often useless (moreso in the Mac department) and like to stick their commission sticker on your stuff after they ask if you need help. No, you didn't help me, so I'm going to take your sticker off, thanks. Oh, and the best part. They always ask your name, address, and email. I'm guessing they have to meet a certain quota or else they get on probation or something, because after we tell them that we're not interested, they keep pressuring us for our info. Oh, and no, I don't want your extended warranty for my $10 keyboard, thanks. If you need Mac stuff, stick with the Apple Store. Anything else, you should probably go somewhere like Fry's. Oh, and they have the most ANNOYING sign right next to 75. I drove by it at about midnight once, and all the sudden it turned bright blue and I nearly wrecked my car. After our last encounter, I'm ready to make a full commitment to you, MC. The kiddo scored a new video card without a power supply, so not only did we need to match the correct power supply, we needed a teeny bit of guidance on how to perform the surgery. The employee who helped us not only steered us toward a very affordable combination of power supply and adapters, he opened our CPU and showed my son exactly what to do. For free. Awesome, right? Seriously, Micro Center is the perfect combination of efficient, trained and willing to help with competitive pricing thrown in as a bonus. I always find what I need - sometimes more than I need - and it is always accompanied by an employee who actually knows what they're talking about and wants to help. This has become my default for computer related items. Used to be Fry's but this place is cheaper on many things and the staff seems more knowledgeable. The store is also much smaller so there isn't as big a crowd. I recently purchased a laptop and they went to get the store manager. Apparently he wanted to meet anyone that was buying a computer and give them his business card-nice touch. He even walked me up to the front of the store to pick up my purchase. I would have to say my visits here are much quicker and less stressful than visits to Fry's. I would highly recommend you check them out first. read more

In my personal experience in visiting this store two times in two days, I felt employees were more invested in putting their sticker on items I was purchasing than actually assisting me in purchasing the correct item. I brought my laptop in as a show and tell as I needed a dock that works with my work laptop and my MacBook Pro. I explained the situation to a sales person and he took me to the Apple branded section and handed me off to someone else. The employee working in the Apple branded section took me to a section on the other side of the store to show me a USB docking station. I showed him the laptop and explained I needed a VGA input. He claimed there is no way that is right and said my IT Department was wrong. He took me all the way back to the Apple section so he could affix his sticker on the package. Then he walked away. I wandered around the store searching high and low for the cables and peripherals I needed in order to have a functioning dock. Getting noticed in the store when I needed assistance was pretty impossible. As much as I tried to look like I needed help, I failed. Flagging down a manager was just as bad, I felt like a nuisance for asking for help. The forth employee I interacted with at the store was nice. I showed him my laptop and he explained that the docking station definitely was compatible with my laptop. He found some cables for me and I headed home to hook up the dock. By the way, not compatible with my laptop. I returned the dock the next day and asked where I could find a thunderbolt to VGA cable. Apparently in this realm of the universe, this cable is a unicorn and doesn't exist. Thanks to Google and Amazon I have no need to visit this store again. Micro Center is my new favorite tech store! I am in school for Computer Programming and bought my new laptop here. It was an open box (returned and checked by their tech team, passed all required tests to sell, plus it was almost half of it's regular price. I qualified for other discounts for computer related items for purchasing a computer over a certain amount. I love the fact that they regularly send out flyers which contain pretty awesome coupons most of the time. Their prices are competitive, and their store is always well stocked and clean. They are not a huge time suck like Fry's because they are not as large, and they do not sell all the toys and non-related tech stuff. They are a true electronics store. They have a computer kiosk that generates repair slips if you have to use their technical support team. I have bought items to upgrade and build computers from both Fry's and Micro Center, and Micro Center has made suggestions on how to do things cheaper, than up selling. I told the manager how important that was to me, being a student, and he said he knows I'll come back because not only did they help me find what I needed, but made sure it fit my financial needs, as well. I believe that Micro Center has a top rate staff with high-quality products. Their prices are beyond competitive, and their store is always organized. read more

Lousy online order / in-store pick up experience: I did an on-line order for a monitor and wireless card for a system build. I received the email stating my items were ready for pick up. I get there and they "couldn't locate" the card I ordered (which they had previously said was ready for pick up) and tried to substitute some low-end piece of crap for it... I caught this before I paid and then they tried to convince me it was a better product. I had done my research and knew they were trying to slime a crappy card onto me. They could have called or emailed and let me know they didn't have the card. I would have researched and selected another one. I was on a tight schedule and didn't have time to screw with this. I left without the wireless card and now have a bad taste for Micro Center. They service their customers the way a bull "services" a cow. With all the alternatives available, I will not spend another dime with Micro Center. read more
