We all know Staples is an office supply chain, but my latest venture into this place tells me that they are looking to diversify their offerings, and the focus on office supplies is getting murky. Upon pulling up to this location, you see a large banner on the side of the building touting a collaboration between Staples and the defunct Party City. This is a partnership that brings in balloons, helium and other event items. This could be a smart move by Staples to integrate special event items. "Oh, Debbie from Accounting is celebrating her 10 year anniversary with the company?" You can pick up a balloon bouquet and streamers while you're picking up some toner. It's not a bad pivot, it's just that first and foremost, I think the selection in their office supplies is narrowed to make room for stuff like this and some ginormous bargain bins I'll go into momentarily. Problem is I think Staples prices are steep, and it's not like you are getting exceptional service or an immaculate atmosphere to make up for it. I only find myself at Staples as a last resort. On this occasion, I had come for some packing supplies. I begrudgingly paid the ridiculously high prices because I needed the supplies, but time and time again, I find Staples is not synonymous with value, or the breadth of selection I would expect in 2026. While I was making my way from the furthest reaches of the store (which is where they keep the shipping supplies) to checkout, I was temporarily distracted by some curiously large bins that held some of the most random things. Things you would not expect to find at a Staples. Things like nose strips, multipacks of paprika (yes, the spice), romance novels...basically junk. This stuff gets put out once a week and each successive day, the price of the items in the bins gets reduced. It's like troughs of crud. I'd much rather them focus on bringing in the best assortment of office supplies instead of diverting to bargain basement tactics. Instead, I'd like to see more selection of office supplies at better prices. It's really that simple. read more

Staples Store # 1251 16817 Coit Road Dallas, Texas 75248 Subject: Incorrect TSA Procedures and Horribly Rude Employee, "Laura" Date: March 18, 2026 Time: 10:40 AM Staples Employee: Laura · Arrived at store in time for our 10:40 appointment to complete TSA PreCheck process for my wife, Carol Alman. · The bulk of the TSA PreCheck information had already been submitted online utilizing CLEAR Application ID M4BW-45CP and she already has a passport. · Laura was already helping someone else, who we found out had a 10:50 appointment, so the had in fact jumped ahead of us. · Laura rudely told us to, "Sit over there!", apparently away for the CLEAR kiosk, which we did. · When she was finished with previous client, Laura told us that we had missed our appointment, even though we had arrived on time, no one else was waiting and not even bothering to look at appointment schedule. · Website clearly states" Walkins Welcome". · Once she did look at the appointment list and without even bothering to pull up our partially completed online application, she stated that my wife had to have her birth certificate, her previous marriage license (husband died ~28 years ago), and her current marriage license, even though we have been married for nearly 26 years and have resided in the same house since 2003. · THE ABOVE IS A CLEAR AND INCORRECT REGULATIONS ERROR, AS THIS INFO IS GATHERED WHEN APPLYING FOR A US PASSPORT, WHICH SHE ALREADY HAS! · I, admittedly, was getting upset with Laura, as we had driven 0ver 40 miles, had arrived at the correct appointment time, and she was CLEARLY mistaken in her statements to us as to the required documents needed. · I asked Laura to please pull up my wife's application on CLEAR and, if more paperwork is required, we will correct and come back. · All correct paperwork was brought to Staples and previously submitted online via CLEAR. See below: * After Laura stalked off and made us wait an additional five minutes, "In case her next scheduled applicant arrives", which they didn't, she grudgingly escorted my wife to the CLEAR kiosk. * Upon walking to the kiosk I was met with a disturbing attitude from Laura. She was very dismissive and rude. While wearing a mask and speaking in a low voice I had to ask her to repeat herself several times. I mentioned I was hard of hearing, and after recently having cataract surgery the fine print was hard to read. This obviously annoyed her and I was made to feel stupid for my requests . She was adamant that I needed to show proof of a prior marriage name change, as well as a birth certificate to show my name at birth. The website did not say these documents were required so I came prepared to show my passport and ID as required. She was very defiant and rude throughout the whole process. I worked in retail management for over 40 years, I understand how hard it is to work with the public. Which is why I try to conduct myself in a calm and respectful manner. This employee, Laura, needs a refresher course on such. When the process was finished, I apologized for the above confusion. Her response was terse, and hateful replying that there was no confusion, implying that we were the problem. I hope this complaint does not go on deaf ears. This was seriously the worst customer service experience I've ever had. Now, I don't anticipate any corrective action will be administered to this said employee, as Laura has complaints online going back well over a year on Google and YELP. My concern and main complaint is twofold: * How many people has she sent packing with incorrect info that came to Staples in good faith needing a passport and/or TSA PreCheck? * How many people has she sent packing never to give Staples another thought and taking their business elsewhere, i.e., Amazon, Walmart, or Best Buy? I have not been happy with a printer I bought a few months ago and came in to Staples looking to upgrade my printer situation without also over killing it with my upgrade. While I liked the way they displayed their printers and features, I was a bit disappointed that no one ever asked if I needed assistance, throughout the 10 minutes or so I spent in the printer aisles. Formal Complaint: Discriminatory Treatment and Procedural Mishandling of TSA PreCheck Appointment I am writing to formally report a highly unprofessional experience at your Coit Rd. branch regarding my TSA PreCheck appointment on 4/15/2026. The service I received was characterized by poor communication, procedural irregularities, and what appeared to be discriminatory treatment. Key Issues: * Lack of Communication: My initial appointment was canceled due to a system outage without any prior notification, despite TSA confirming that Staples is responsible for client alerts. * Unprofessional Conduct: Upon arrival for my rescheduled appointment, I was ignored by staff at the service desk for several minutes. Once acknowledged, I was directed to an unstaffed station. * Mishandling of Sensitive Documents: The employee processing my application took my passport, driver's license, and debit card and walked away to a different part of the store. Today Mario was so patient and kind even though I could not figure out how to do a return on Amazon on my iphone. I would like to congratulate staples on pushing me towards just doing business with Amazon, which I am trying to do less of. Came here for TSA Precheck There is no signs , i asked the customer service representative for assistance, she made me wait in line like if i was purchasing an item to just tell me to walk all the way to the back. I print documents often with self service. All of these printers at this location are printing very low quality (like they are running out of ink). The employee in the printing department did not care when I showed the faded quality of my $50 print job. I would pass this location and head to the next Staples (or Office Max / Office Depot) location to get a print that does not look faded. read more

Laura was so helpful in walking me through downloading the new Staples Rewards app. She saved me $10 which was awesome. The two guys working in the printing area were cordial and helpful when I needed help, i asked a question about how to program the machine for two-sided copies and also needed more paper loaded into the copier machine. It was very easy to use their copier and the paper has a nice weight and feel to it. When you start your copy job you have to swipe in with a credit card. I almost never stop by anywhere to use a computer and now I remember why. OMG. Lessons in frustration. For a "tech" support company, their internet is slower than Christmas, the computer spit out four unintelligible copies of 4 different documents and it kept getting hung up, all the while charging my credit card. The print manager did his best to help facilitate a refund, but since I didn't receive a receipt from the computer, they had to hack the system. Then transaction didn't show. So, a 5-10 minute stop to print out 3 documents for a meeting cost me 30 minutes and still nothing for the meeting. Only gave 2 stars because print Mgr was so nice. Printers were down, Understandable. I was only wanting to ask a question. The older woman there ignored us didn't offer to help, so I went to the older man at the counter. I get that he was busy and stated I just wanted to ask a question about my job I sent online. He was unreasonably rude, said he had no time to help me and if I needed my question answered I'd have to wait like 30 minutes til he was done with whatever he was doing (which was basically until they closed). For the area this location is in I was very surprised by the look of the store inside. Everything just seemed super cluttered with no real welcome feeling. I was looking for a couple different items and each one's section was scantily stocked with alot of empty slots as well. I have been to numerous Staples around the Metro-Plex and this one was SUPER SAD looking. No advertisements for anything, nothing catching your eyes at all. Just a plain boring void of nothingness. Reminded me of walking into an Office Depot. I don't live in the area so doubt i'll ever be back to this location. Hope this place steps it up for it's customers. I have never been helped in under 20 minutes and I have never received anything that is the right size and right color saturation. Just awful. The staff at this Staples is amazing! I called 2 minutes before their closing time - the moment my daughter alerted me that we needed printer ink that night for her to complete her homework... I live 10 minutes away. The gentleman who answered my call was very courteous and understanding of my desperate situation, he checked with his manager to see if they could keep the doors open for me, double checked on the specific ink cartridge(s) that I needed and said they would have it waiting for me. When I arrived he had the ink at the register so I did not need to go through the store to find it, I checked out quickly. I've been to this Staples more times than I can count. Getting school supplies here is not as chaotic as other stores, where everything is picked over by the time school starts. I've gotten tons of supplies here since my son was in preschool to make teaching aids for my son's teachers - he is a special needs kid now in high school. He is much more independent but needs help keeping track of assignments so I have him organized with a heavy duty plastic pocket file. We've bought office furniture here also. We get all our printer paper here - ink, bubble wrap, packing tape, calendars - everything for our home office. I got beautiful paper here for my resume and a really nice pen for a gift. I got some gigantic plastic colored paper clips here - I always find something I have to have but didn't know I needed. Knowledgeable employees with headset mikes to ask different departments where the things you need are - great service. I don't know if every Staples is this good but I highly recommend this location. read more
