They are normally very busy, and the checkout lines can be long. But their staff is super helpful, especially for customers who are inexperienced with tech. I never feel like I'm being pressured by an aggressive salesman. But if I have a question, I know they can answer it. DO NOT BUY! I bought a 2000 dollar cimputer with several defects that forced me to redeem my insurance almost right away. Nothing I have bought works from defective drivers to failing graphics cards. Sad. read more

So after researching laptops on their website, I landed on one that seem to fit the bill. Not being entirely familiar with the store (I was there once years ago), I was pleased to see the inventory available. When I went to the computer section, I started looking for the laptop I had picked out and soon discovered that it was not on display. About this time, a sales associate approached me and ask if he could help. I told him that I was looking for this specific laptop and the website said that they had over ten in stock. Here's where it gets good. He informed me that Micro Center did not recommend that computer because "it was a dual-core processor (i3) and 4 Gig of RAM was not enough". Being an IT guy, I was at first insulted and then realized that this was his attempt to "up-sell" me to another one that was $150 more. Hell, if the memory's the only issue, I could upgrade that for less than $150! Being a bit irritated, I explained to him that I knew what I was buying and I just needed him to go a fetch it like a good sales boy. Got the computer home and it works exactly like I expected, no issues. The moral of this story is, "beware of the up-sell". read more

I recently purchased a refurbished laptop from Microcenter. I've purchased several refurb items before with great results but it's been always from the manufacturer of the item (Canon, Apple, etc.). Given the great reputation of Microcenter and the seemingly good deal, I decided to take a chance. I got the laptop home, powered it up and went through the usual, new computer purchase setup. Then the laptop checked for system updates, installed them and tried to restart. After an hour waiting for the system to shut down (prior to the restart), the laptop and adapter were super hot so I did a hard restart only to have the laptop shut down at the login screen. The system never booted up again. I had a total of 20 minutes of usage before it crapped out. I decided to cut my losses, boxed everything up and return it to the store. I will say they accepted my return without issue. However, it wasn't a satisfactory customer experience either. After I explained what had happened, I was asked "So, what do you want to do?" No offer of replacing it with a different one or having a tech take a look. Even a response of "That sucks. I'm sorry that happened" would have been appreciated. I would think a same day purchase and return of defective equipment would have garnered SOME kind of response especially since this laptop was "certified refurbished" by Microcenter. Given the severity of the issue and how quickly it was uncovered, I'm curious as to the thoroughness of the "refurbishing" Microcenter put this laptop through. I wonder if they do it themselves or contract it out. Regardless, I believe it needs some review. While this hasn't put me off of buying refurbished items in the future, I won't be doing it at Microcenter. read more

Good deals? not really, many of the items are cheaper at Fry's . Helpful staff, YES if you like being helped by pinky instead of the brain, the staff tries hard to help & usually knows a lot less than you do. Sadly this is because at what they pay their staff, you are not gonna get rocket scientists working there . The main thing the place has going for it is location, if you live in the area, its within a few dollars of cents of the Fr's price & a shorter drive. Also SOMETIMES a sale will undercut fry's on 1 or 2 items. From the time I walked in this place to the time I left ( and came back multiple times for help), I was treated with respect and as a priority . The sales associate Chris W, the manager Brian (I believe was his name) and the service gentlemen (older with a little bit of white hair) all pitched in to ensure my experience with micro center was top notch. I built my first gaming pc with high quality parts all from this store. I even brought it in to pay the 40$ service fee when I figured I had messed up only to be told that I hadn't messed up and what was wrong was a simple fix(which they even gladly took the time to show me on the spot Even during an extremely busy time).... they didn't even charge me for the help. After a faulty hinge caused case damage to my refurbished laptop, Richardson's service department accused me of dropping the unit and refused to honor the warranty. Very unhappy with this store and with how I was treated at the service counter. I would also concur with another reviewer who reported that Micro Center's reburbs don't seem to be of very high quality, as my laptop also has multiple other issues, i.e. worn out battery, inoperative WAN switch, a CD tray which ejects at random for no apparent reason and a power supply plug that frequently falls out of the unit when moved or jostled. I expected better of a store like Micro Center. I thought the warranty protected me against the risk of purchasing a refurb, but a warranty is only as good as the integrity of the company backing it. read more

We used to love going to this store. They do occasionally have some awesome deals, and they have things you could never dream of. Location is convenient. They are well staffed. Easy to find someone to help you. I needed a new phone since my android crapped out, but not eager to spend a thousand dollars on one. Went there to buy a new android that was listed in their ad. All of the reasonably priced phones in the ad were sold out. This was before Christmas. Late November 2017. Decided to buy a refurbished iPhone for under $350. Checked out the phone with the salesman. It was definitely used, scratched, dinged, but this was to be my first iPhone and I was not eager to spend 1k on new phone, and it came with a 30 day warranty. Can't remember the model, maybe 8 Plus. When you buy something like that, you trust that they know what they are doing, and it has been triple checked for quality control. It was the last one they had, and I wondered why everyone else had passed on this deal, surely though it was ok. Big mistake. Wrote a check for the phone and went to the AT&T store to activate and get help transferring what data we could get from the barely alive old android. Waited in line for about an hour at phone store, even though we had made appointment, Christmas was coming and it was packed. Immediately upon taking the refurbished phone out of the box, the agent noticed that the camera lens was shattered. She started to say "you can probably get that fixed for about $20" and then her jaw dropped and she said "oh look, the glass has been replaced and they didn't even do it right, I can't believe they sold this phone like this! Wow this is crazy" etc. So we drive back over to freakin micro center in the 5 o'clock traffic, this location suddenly isn't so convenient is it? Not from downtown Dallas. Get there and stand in another long line to return the phone. I told the clerk what had happened, and she called a manager and told him 'this lady is claiming she just bought this phone here today and it's broken'. Really witch? If you think I look like a stupid criminal, at least be discreet before you assume I'm trying to pull something here. Instead of your loud voice and eye rolling. So manager comes over and gives me the old up and down look, asks me what happened, rudely takes the phone to the back, telling me to step aside, then brings it back and tells clerk, his words, it checked out. Again assuming I'm trying to pull a fast one here. Clerk starts processing the return and she tells me I should have a check in the mail from them in 10 business days. Really? I just wrote you a check 3 hours ago, for a defective product, and you want to keep my money for 10 days? Hahaha. Just give me my check back, how bout that? No nope we can't do that, then I really began to get loud. WTF? Queue another manager, begin from the beginning, will it ever stop? I'm getting angry all over again, and instead of writing a book, they did finally give me my check back with a half assed apology. Your business has gone downhill fast, as evidenced by other reviews. Hope you can recover. For old times sake. read more

I went to buy a motherboard and a processor here and since I bought a Ryzen 5 3600 with a Msi Tomahawk. I asked one of the people there and asked how much it would cost to flash the bios. He said $20. I went and asked them to flash the bios and they told me it would cost $32 instead of the $20 the other worker said. I reluctantly paid because I wasn't able to flash it myself. We waited 20 minutes for them to flash it and when we came back they told us he wasn't finished. I waited another 20 minutes before I decide to go and ask them where my items where. Turns out that the guy finished 10 minutes ago but never contacted us to tell us the order was done. Not a very good experience. read more

Came in to find a fan to replace the old one in a Mac labtop. We looked around the store and thought everything they had was so cool. Extremely rude and horrible communication about their COVID-19 process to enter the store. We will never shop here again!

I think they go out of their way to look industrial figuring that by not having a retail feel to it the store will attract "serious" electronics shoppers. In reality, it just makes it look cluttered and dirty. Associates are hit and miss in terms of customer service. Prices are good on certain things (like non-retail packaging hardware) but are the same if not higher on plenty of other stuff. Props for having an accurate online inventory checking system which I recommend using before coming in and hunting around for stuff. i have had one hardware repair done here (a power supply replacement that was rather difficult because of the placement), and I would use them again. I felt much more comfortable using them compared to BB. read more

All the higher end products are usually at the lowest prices here. The reason why I'm giving such low rating is because of the customer service here, general service it's been great but... 1) sales reps - clearly have no idea what they're talking about in regards to technology and continuous just bothers me trying to pitch things by throwing around buzzwords. Felt really bad for an elderly couple there. 2) Doris - some manager who was really rude and sassy. If you avoid those two factors great place to shop. My experience with microcenter has been "alright" i guess. I mean prices are great and all, but a majority of employees that work there need to stop having such a superiority complex. Yes they work at a place that is focused on tech, but that doesn't mean they automatically know everything about computers. I have had multiple employees giving me a very bad attitude just because i try to talk about what i'm buying, just being friendly so it isn't too awkward. then they get all defensive all of a sudden. they think that just because i'm younger, that i know nothing and they keep on interrupting and denying everything that i am saying. then they try and correct me with wrong info. not opinion based wrong info. actual wrong information. not to mention the amount of times that sadly, i have heard employees giving out misinformation. i was waiting in line 2 days ago at the customer help place i just couldn't take it anymore and had a small chat with the guy standing in front of me, and i ended up having experience with everything he needed help on. My main point is still how ignorant and rude a majority of the employees are. and not just to customers. i literally heard an employee yell across 3 isles at another employee saying "it's your fault!" ,and the other guy sounded hurt when he said, "i said i'm sorry!". it made me sad. also, not really too big a deal, but you've got to REALLY need something to wait in the lines. not often are they short. so in general, the employees that i have spoken with in the BYOPC section have been awful. they definitely need some meeting or something to be more nice and appropriate to customers. they need to have a more understanding and nicer approach to customers. there was a really cool guy at the register and in the monitors section though! read more

This place is awesome! Some things here are cheaper than Fry's! They have a really good selection of laptop messenger bags.

I used to love Micro Center. They always used to have the best tech at the best prices. But with this latest issue of GPU shortages, Micro Center has legitimately stabbed regular DIY system builders directly in the back. With a BIG knife. Repeatedly. And laughed while doing it. When the RX 4870/580 cards became all the rage mid year 2017, what did Micro Center do? Raised prices during a time when there was NO shortage of cards. An Aorus RX 580, which normally held an MSRP of around $275-$280 was sold for $400-$500. GTX 1070's which were around $350 were sold for $500-$600. Price gouge much? Less than 6 months later, you can't even find an RX 580 in stock. Almost all Nvidia cards are missing too. But what Micro Center has now done is to rape the average joe system builder by stooping to price gouging as a PRIMARY SELLER!! It is not unheard of to see cards like a GTX 1080 Ti selling for over $1300 on Amazon or Newegg because of third party sellers, but for a PRIMARY retailer to do so is a slap in the face with a brick in a sock! They tried limiting quantities to cryptocurrency miners initially by saying after the second GPU was purchased, all others at that point would be $10,000. I LOVED THAT SIGN!! It made my day! I posted it all over every PC group I was in on all my social media feeds. Then a few weeks ago their stance changed to where they gouged prices openly, but said "ig you come in and talk to a manager, you will get discounts, especially if you buy multiple components", which was their way of giving themselves an out by saying "if we even think you are a miner, forget the discount." So I went in last week, picked up and ASUS Z370 Maximus X Formula, selected an i5-8600K CPU, and some G.Skill DDR4 memory and went to go find a manager to ask about pairing it all with 2 GTX 1060 GPU's from ASUS to run an SLI rig (already knew they had 1 in stock based on their website....which is frequently wrong.) Manager immediately told me there would be no discounts because 1) the prices they have are in line with Newegg and Amazon (despite them being sold by third parties in both cases), 2) the discounts only apply to someone buying multiple components (what did he think I had a cart full of at that point, I don't know), and 3) I was obviously a miner seeing as I asked for 2 GPU's. Never mind the fact that he obviously didn't know that you can't run SLI with anything less than a 1070, but to just assume someone is a miner because they want two cards?! That's essentially calling a customer a liar right to their face! So thank you very much Micro Center. Because of your shenanigans, you have DIRECTLY pushed sales from your coffers into that of your competitors. Never again will a single dollar of mine find its way into your tills. read more
