I love this store. They have everything you could possibly need/want, plus a superb service dept. Their only major flaw is their lack of another location farther west in Mass.; because since they are the best, I have to drive 45-60 minutes one way to get there. Prices: great. Selection: great. Service: not so great. In the end, I got a working PC, but getting there took more effort than it should have. I tried to arrange an appointment for what Micro Center calls a "rebuild," with the goal of waiting while the work was done. I wanted to do this because it's a three-hour round trip from my home. My plan was to drive up, drop off the PC, spend some time visiting old haunts in Boston, and return home the same day. I called ahead and was told by a consultant, "No problem, come up Saturday." I specifically asked whether the influx of college students returning to school might affect the service schedule. "No way," I was told. Unfortunately, no appointment was actually made for me, and when I arrived Saturday, they couldn't do the work that day. Needless to say, I wasn't happy. I later learned from the service manager that the store was experiencing a 43% increase in service volume because of college students returning to school. That would have been useful information to know when I called. They ultimately built the PC on Sunday. The technician initially communicated well, and even sent me an unsolicited photo of the build in progress. When I later asked for a photo of the rear panel, however, I got no response. I didn't think that was an unreasonable request, especially since he had already sent a progress photo. It turned out that my concern was justified. When I went to pick up the PC on Sunday, a video card I had specifically asked to have transferred from the old system had not been installed. I then had to wait while that was taken care of. The sales experience had its own issue. I needed to connect three monitors. Had the salesman pointed out that the motherboard supported DisplayPort, and that I could use DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapters to connect two or possibly all three monitors, I would have bought an adapter and avoided some unnecessary hassle. That option was never mentioned. Your mileage may vary, but my advice is to go to Micro Center after doing extensive research yourself about exactly what you need, and if you are paying them to install or rebuild something, make absolutely sure you have a firm understanding of when the work will actually be done. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant and friendly. The problem was not attitude--it was that, too often, I had to identify and solve the problems myself rather than having the service or sales staff anticipate them and help me avoid them. Great prices and selection. The service experience, in my case, didn't live up to them. read more

Today was my first time visiting Micro Center in Cambridge! This is the place to go for all things technology related; printers, PC parts, flash drives, etc. I came here just looking for a 32GB flash drive that was relatively cheap ($3) and had a little bit of an issue finding it by myself. The first sales associate that helped me look in the flash drive section and we were not able to locate it there. Then I was directed to the checkout line, since I guess if they aren't in the flash drive section, they're likely to be right at the cash registers. Lol, at first I thought maybe there was no more as it was an in store only item but at last, I was able to get one at the cash register! I'd probably come back again sometime in the future! Definitely a good place to go if you're interesting in building a PC and looking for parts. read more

I came in for a simple, refurb iPad. I need it for a very specific use -- it doesn't need to be a recent model, I explained the scenario to the sales person. It was clear the $160 8th gen they had in stock would meet my need and then some. The associate I spoke with tried to first sell me a 2025 iPad ($450). When I pressed it wasn't needed, the 8th gen would work fine, he pushed back that I really needed a 9th gen for $250. I insisted again that the 8th gen was more than I need, he was frustrated but generated the ticket. I ended up walking out without buying the device. I bought an 8th gen, $50 cheaper, elsewhere. If I didn't know what I needed, if I didn't feel comfortable pushing back on an aggresive salesperson, I would have walked out $300 poorer and with more device than I needed. While browsing, I witnessed someone buying a laptop but before they would give them the slip they "had to introduce them" to their sales manager who came over to try and push a different, more expensive system. I used to love the place but now it feels like a sleezy car dealership. I most likely won't be back unless there's a very specific, undeniable need to go there. read more

Drive a couple of my kids down to Mass. to pick up computer parts for my sons business and grab some filament for another son. Oh, and if you check Google maps, you can shave some time off, if you go in the back way, Google wants you to go through the heart of Boston...ahh, go try. Anyways, the place is huge and has a lot of electronics for your needs and other gadgets of course. Parking is plentiful and the road trip was nice. The customer support was great as well, as my sone had a lot to pick up. Wish they were closer, but this mom doesn't mind road trips! I have been a shopper at the Micro Center store in Cambridge, MA. The customer service is friendly. The sales people are knowledgeable about the various products. I got my computer repaired at Micro Center. They fixed the computer without losing data on my hard drive and did a backup on another external drive. Everything went smoothly. Recently, I purchased memory and then had the repair people at the store install the memory. One stop shopping! They did a great job for a reasonable price. I'm not a computer person at all. I'm just glad we have a micro center within driving distance for my boyfriend who was building his new computer. This was a serious purchase for him, and the items he reserved online were ready for him by checkout. He also spent a decent amount of time asking the guys at the build your own computer section about the parts that would be most suitable for his computer, and they seemed very knowledgeable and patient. I spent my time wandering the store and they have a lot of cool random stuff like board games, video game controllers, 3D printers, etc. I was delighted to see Rocktopus in the 3D printing section. read more

I will never purchase another item from them again. They sold us gear that didn't work straight out of the box and because its past their return window their only solution was to upset me another "discounted" item. I needed tech help and Micro Center answered my all questions and I left satisfied. The service and products I received were great. My laptop has been giving me issues and didn't know what to do. Staff recommended to purchase a new adapter. I ended up purchasing a Wireless Nano Wi-Fi 6 Usb Adapter and my laptop instantly started working again. I was so relieved! I should have read previous reviews before coming here, but to reiterate: DO NOT COME HERE FOR APPLE REPAIRS. I had an issue with a device that was very new and still under warranty, and Micro Center said it needed to be sent to Apple to to be fixed for $1300 (more than I paid for the device in the first place). When I took it back and brought it to an Apple Store the next day, they shipped it out and got it fixed for me for free (since it was still under warranty). Save your time and just go to an Apple Store in the first place. read more

We Went to this micro center on 11/08/2024. We had a valid receipt, we were within 15 days of the return policy, however the manager PETER O decided because my husband was suspicious to him, to flag him for excessive returns. Mind you, my husband mostly buys open box, so those parts aren't always up to par. In this situation, the part was working, but not able to do the work that he needed it to do. Mind you, the part that it was being exchanged for was going to cost us an additional 400 dollars which we were more than willing to pay. This would have been a NET bonus of income for the store. However, unlike any manager in any micro center in the north east, Peter O claimed that a note had been made about my husband in the system. When asked who wrote the note, he said " the management team at the store" when asked to provide contact information for the store manager he claimed he did not have it. When asked to provide cooperate contact information, he told us to go look it up online. When asked if this was a cooperate policy he said "no". He said he could decide whatever he chooses to return or not and he was choosing not to return it, because I took a picture of his badge, he then threw me out the store and threatened to call the cops on my husband because he did not like the fact that we were challenging him to provide us with evidence to support his claim, that a note had been made regarding our purchases. We will never support, encourage or recommend anyone of color to go to that store and deal with the disrespect and poor customer service they exemplify. While this should not be applied to any of the other wonderful stores and amazing management teams of the other micro center stores in New York, New Jersey, and across the country, this is a black eye on micro center as this is the second time my husband has been racially profiled as a customer in this particular store. It might not be a coincidence that of all the stores in our region the management team in Cambridge is the least diverse, Boston should not be represented in this way and it deserves better. I am elderly and have had two strokes. I went to my neighboring Micro Center to get a charger while I examined what phone I should get next because I'm disabled and live in a tower, the phone is a lifeline to me. When I didn't need it after I got my new phone I went back there and they claimed I had been told there was a very short limit on returns. The charger package had not even been opened. I was very disappointed and disgusted, and I live in the neighborhood so it was like neighbors are being mean to me in my condition. Did not like it. They said they were absolutely no exceptions to their rule and the packaging on the charger had not even been disturbed! read more

I have been here to purchase computers and return if I ever have a problem. The prices are competitive. This time I went in looking for webcam. A salesman came right over to help me. He seemed to be familiar with the inventory. He asked me what I was looking for and took me right over to many webcams. We narrowed it down to two from which I made my selection. Review Update: I will say--to their credit-- that Micro Center remains more sales and customer service oriented than those big box chain stores offering some of the same merchandise. However that customer service is undermined by a couple factors. One is the aforementioned lack of merchandise knowledge of some of their associates, such as the guy who recommended and sold me a memory card incompatible with the camera I simultaneously bought from them; cards several of which Kodak subsequently sent to me free of charge because vendors like MC disallow Kodak's memory cards in the camera boxes as the price for stocking their cameras-- so the vendor can sell more of its own memory cards. The other factor I have pinpointed after 2 trips to MC this past week to purchase a new laptop: untrustworthy MC inventory status information. On Monday, a laptop advertized as "low stock" on the display model was, after the associate assisted me in coming to a purchase decision, was in reality out-of-stock. He told me the model would be back in stock by Thursday or Friday. I visited the store on Friday, and knowing the new stock delivery might be delayed, had a second choice in mind which the display model claimed was "one left in stock". Again, only after arriving at a purchase decision with the asslociate's help, did the associate check the stock room and discover--once again--that this laptop was in reality out-of-stock. I had to then consider my 3rd and 4th choices. I recommend to other customers that if the item is advertised as "low stock" or less than 5 in stock, that they ask the associate to FIRST check the back room to preclude wasting the time of both the customer and the associate. And I suggest to MC that their inventory stock claims be more accurately updated. As for my being prevented from setting up an online MC account, I suppose my decision not to own a cell phone is the price i pay for that. And I'm now clued in to MC's current policy to avoid inventory loss by only providing merchandise of any value to the customer via the cashier at the point-of-sale. Fair enough. However, when there are display models (as with the laptops) that help a customer to come to a purchase decision, this is not an issue. When a customer cannot even SEE a smaller electronic like the camera I purchased, one is forced to a semi-blind purchase. read more

The store greeter introduced us to Jeremy Krauss, a sales associate who has been with Microcenter three years but seemed to have the breadth of knowledge of someone far more senior. It was clear we were in excellent hands. The store was bustling, yet Jeremy remained calm, attentive, and fully engaged. He listened closely, asked insightful questions, and guided us through the options with clarity and confidence. He shared his knowledge generously, affirmed my needs, and never once rushed us. Despite the pace of the day, he made us feel like we were his only customers. What followed was one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. Jeremy was thoughtful, well-informed, and clearly knew the inventory inside and out. He explained the pros and cons of each option with ease and precision. In addition to these qualities, what impressed me was his quiet dedication. I learned he had started early that morning and stayed with us well past his scheduled shift. That detail only came out because I asked. His focus and care never wavered. He never rushed and never made us feel like we were taking too much time. His professionalism, warmth, and expertise made me feel confident in my choices. He genuinely cared about helping me find the right fit. Microcenter is very fortunate to have someone of Jeremy's caliber on their team. He represents everything that great service should be. I hope this review reaches him and makes him feel proud. I was looking for a charger for my laptop. Vinnie was exceptional. Before making the selection, he strongly suggested I have either the model number of the old charger or the laptop, which I didn't have with me. My friend texted it to me from home, and I was able to show it to Vinnie. He did research on the computer to determine the proper wattage. He even found the charger I needed in the Clearance section. My brother bought all the parts for his first-ever PC, but when he got home, we discovered the GPU was completely bent. We returned to the store three hours later, only to be told that the GPU had a different serial number, and it seemed to me that the manager implied we had swapped it out. I asked for an explanation, since I hadn't been present for the earlier conversation, but the manager refused to explain and repeatedly dismissed me. It felt like he was talking down to me as if I were a child. The next day, we obtained proof from the GPU manufacturer that the GPU we purchased was indeed the same one that came in the box. However, when we returned to the store with this evidence, they changed their story now claiming that we must have dropped the GPU and refusing to help. This particular part of the GPU is made of steel and would require significant force to bend, while the rest of the GPU is plastic and showed no signs of damage or scrapes.I even offered to pay for repairs, but the store still refused, despite having a repair section. The entire experience left me frustrated with their management and customer service, especially since most other stores would have replaced the damaged part without issue. read more

They advertised it as a full laser combo which means the laser should come with it. You guys should have made it right or offered a discounted price now have to return it so I guess someone gonna get a deal on a used printer with several hrs on it. read more

Tried to buy an external HD to back up a MacBook Pro. First try they sold me one that was for Windows. Returned it, was sold another one assured to be formatted for Apple. It wasn't either. I am never, EVER, getting my computer serviced here again. If I could give negative stars, I would! It took 3 visits and $700 for Micro Center to "repair" my laptop, only for it to fail less than 3 weeks after all of the compinents were finally installed. And now they won't give me a refund for the part that failed. Highway fricking robbery. In September 2024, my computer started to turn off if it wasn't plugged in. Internal diagnostics said my battery had failed, so I came in with a Dell battery I had purchased and I asked MC to install it--no problem. Only, after the install I was told that my battery was actually working fine and it was a problem with the motherboard. To replace it, I was quoted about $600 in parts and labor. Not great, but.... fine. If it will fix my computer. I returned the battery to Dell because I was told I didn't need it and saved up for the motherboard replacement. Finally, in February 2025 I was able to come in and have the motherboard replaced. At NO TIME during or after service was I told that MC only stands by its work for 30 DAYS. And also? Oops, after the motherboard was replaced I was told that actually my battery WAS faulty and it needed to be replaced. I called customer service and they told me it would be cheaper for me to buy the battery on my own (again) and have MC install it again rather than having MC order the battery for me. Why? Isn't MC a giant chain store who should be able to get better deals on parts from manufacturers? But whatever, fine. Frustrated but still willing to play ball, I ordered the battery from Dell (again). My battery, ordered at the beginning of March, took a month to be delivered because of supply issues. Fine. During that month I never turned on my computer or plugged it in, because I don't know anything about computers and I didn't want to risk frying anything with a faulty battery still installed. If I had known MC wouldn't do anything for me after 30 days, I would absolutely have tested the motherboard install, but I thought I had time! Once the battery arrived, I took it to MC to be installed. Hooray! My computer is working again, right? For 3 WEEKS, and then guess what? THE BRAND NEW MOTHERBOARD FAILED. I couldn't fricking believe it. $600 for a repair that failed in 3 WEEKS. So finally I cave and I mail the computer in to Dell for diagnostics. Yes, I have to replace the motherboard AGAIN, confirmed. So I go in the MC to see if there is any way that I can get a refund for the faulty motherboard they gave me. Just the part! Not even the labor costs! But no, of course they can't do anything for me because I'm "past the 30 day window!" Which I am hearing about for the FIRST TIME RIGHT THERE. It's crazy, and it's DISHONEST and UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES. But the tech said he'd ask the manager to contact me about it. So I waited. And waited. Four days, no contact, so I have to come back in again only to be told by the manager that he can't do anything past that magical 30 day window. Sorry~~ Never mind that I had to send it to Dell for repairs again within 30 days of being able to turn the laptop on again. Oh, and also? If I HAD brought my computer in to them when the motherboard started acting up, I bet they would have charged me another $600 to fix their own faulty part because it was "after the 30 days"! Ridiculous. RIDICULOUS. The motherboard repair from Dell is $250, why is it SO much more expensive here? So, in short, DO NOT EVER GO TO MICROCENTER FOR REPAIRS, JUST SEND IT IN TO YOUR MANUFACTURER. I am never, EVER, coming here again. And I'll be sure to tell everyone I know not to either! read more

He was extremely comforting, confident, knowledgeable and professional. Totally calmed me down. He diagnosed the problem right away and knew the perfect solution - the charging port no longer worked and he got me the barrel charger - looks like only one left and he spotted it among all the chargers, calmly with determination. He made my day!!! I have to fly out first thing tomorrow morning and the laptop sudden failure was so stressful. I really appreciate his expertise and calming and supportive demeanor. Micro Center has great gear, and generally great employees. However, I discovered an interesting tactic used by one of their employees today. While shopping today, I interacted with a number of employees, but mostly did my own research on my phone or a computer at the store. toward the end of the time, one of the employees who I had not interacted with approached me and then spent a while talking to me, asking me about various things that I was thinking about purchasing, talking a bit about traveling, etc. Initially, I thought perhaps he thought I was going to steal something or that he has a thing for boring looking, middle-age suburban women. I was in a hurry, so I told him he could follow me around if he wanted to but that I could not talk. He continued trying to engage me in conversation. In the midst of this, he held out two small stickers and asked if he could put them on the sides of protective cases around two things that I was considering purchasing. I said sure. I assumed they had to do with inventory control; I note that the two items he put the stickers on were the two most expensive items in my carriage (which were not actually that expensive in relation to the things that the store sells), and also two items that I did not interact with him about at all. while waiting in the checkout line, I took a look at the stickers. They had a phrase: "your satisfaction is my #1 priority." They also included an associate ID (his name), a URL for a survey, and a barcode. I thought for a moment, and then removed the stickers and proceeded through checkout with no hassle. Upon thinking about it, I wonder if perhaps this is a way that employees earn commissions. If they "assist" a customer, then they are allowed to attach one of these barcodes to an item that the customer purchases, and when the customer makes a purchase, the employee gets a small percentage in return. I'm totally fine with that! But I'm not fine with an employee doing it quietly, and without asking or explaining what he's doing.... especially in a situation where the employee has not helped me related to the items in question. In fact, he slowed down my afternoon on a day that was too busy for it -- and too busy to write this review, although this feels worth the time expenditure. My advice: honesty should be your number one priority. Honor that, and I will be much more satisfied. read more
