Both the fans in my computer broke two days before classes started. Best Buy Geek Squad told me to get a new computer because repairs would cost the same and take two weeks. Had an issue with my computer overrheating and likely fried the motherboard. I am pretty saavy with computers but was at my wits' end with my arsenal of troubleshooting tricks. I had never used a computer repair service and was very reluctant to give my laptop away for repair. I was almost certain that this would not get solved and was worried about my data being lost. My computer just came back from this service for second time for same issue, but problem did not get solved unfortunately. The man charged me $180 for replacing fan and install software, explained me what is going on, suggested me not to use my MacBook Pro for video job anymore ! I was so tired from random shut down, when repair was done on first time I just took few days off from computer. Then I had to use it for my job and, man, problem is still going on.... as the man told me twice "let me know if something wrong." when I picked up on first time, I felt funny but I was assuming he fixed my lap top. Today was the first time I have used Yelp. It's important to note, firstly, that I am a disabled senior in my seventies and struggle immensely with neurological issues that make it extremely difficult to maneuver the internet, amongst other technologies. Now, having informed the public of this problem of mine, it should be prevalent that should I seek a service that would help me, such as getting my old computer cleaned so I can use it instead of having to use a cellphone, then, sure, contact a computer place. Cell phones are very difficult, yes indeed. So, here's the dilemma; I used Yelp for the very first time recently and tried to find a computer repair place and to simply receive a quote for this keypad cleaning I needed. I was contacted by place called, Wang PC Computer Service who quickly reached out to me and quoted me a fixed price, and then there was an odd written sentence just above his response, some vague statement, at least I thought it was odd. Something like this: you have sent your computer to such and such a place. So, of course I thought it was a mistake made by him or his company - because it simply was right above his own writing of an estimate - and tried to tell him about it. Of course he wrote back that he did not write that statement, but said it as if it wasn'teven there. But it was there and I even tried to send it to him, but failed: my age, inexperience and dementia I suppose. So far not bad. But here's something: I mentioned right from the beginning that I was new to all of this stuff... emailing, signing up on Yelp, so on. I wanted also to let him feel comfortable with my inexperience and told him I was using humorous language, like when I wanted to know his location, because I didn't see it anywhere in his email. So I asked: where are you located? Because if you're in Alaska and I'm here in Randolph MA. Then it not going to work out for me. This is when I tried to place a laughing face after my sentence, hoping he recognized my humor but his response was uncalled for. He that is ridiculous. Look for somebody else. There was more than that but my point was simply that I just wanted an address and a town or city. I am in Randolph MA, and told him this earlier. All he had to do is give me an address. I woke up this morning to a computer that wouldn't power on. No booting or anything. I called up Wang PC and he scheduled me a time to come drop off my PC so he could take a look and diagnose a problem. Before I could even pick up my coffee order he called me with a diagnosis (dead power supply) and didn't even charge me for the diagnostics! On a Sunday! This service was excellent. Martin was prompt to answer phone calls and return text messages. He was clear about the services he could provide, and talked me through the issues that could arise from my computer accident. He both picked up and dropped off my computer because I was unable to visit the location of his store during the workday. His price was very reasonable. Overall, WangPC provides a wonderful service. If I ever have another computer issue, I know who to go to. I've typed out the specific details surrounding my experience below. I spilled a small amount of coffee on my laptop, immediately unplugged it, and tried to dry it out for a bit. When I turned the computer back on, (much earlier than I should have, you should wait at least 24 hours), one by one, the keyboard letters stopped working, and generally weird things were happening on my screen - the start-up screen would shake until I pressed a key. I called Martin at around 7:30 pm the Sunday evening that it happened, and he talked me through a plan. Because I was working on Monday and unable to go to the store, he agreed to come pick up my laptop from me at work. We spoke briefly about the issues, and he told me what he planned to do - clean the coffee residue off the motherboard, let the computer dry completely, and check the keyboard. Tuesday night around 7:30 pm, he told me that I will actually need a new keyboard, which he could order and install himself - the only delay would be caused by the shipping of the new keyboard. I needed a hard drive replaced on a slightly older macbook, but the apple store and "apple certified" micro center in cambridge could only replace with the same crappy hard drive the computer came with even though wayyy better ones are now available - after running around all day Saturday I got the hard drive from micro center and then called and dropped off my laptop here Sunday and picked up a day or so later. They checked with me that everything was backed up beforehand and my computer now works soooo much better! They are a little disorganized, once the door was locked without a sign while an employee moved their car (just call) and theres a lot of devices piled on top of each other - but worth the friendly, honest, reasonably priced and good service in a convenient location! read more

A serious lifesaver. I was super desperate on a Sunday night with everything being closed after I broke my computer screen. I knew my computer screen was going to be hard and expensive to fix due to it being a retina. I called Martin up and he said he would drive over to pick it up. To put it in perspective, he is ALL the way in Brookline and I am ALL the way in Somerville. Martin communicated with me over the next course of the week, answering my annoying questions and being completely professional the entire time. I can't say enough wonderful things about Martin and his dependable and excellent PC service. I first met my Martin when I dropped my external 1T drive on a hard floor, dropped it hard, and it fried. My bad. I thought there was the possibility that the data could be recovered, and Martin tried to do that, and spent some time with the drive but could not recover anything. He did not charge me a thing for his time, and I told him I would be back. And I was -- back -- when an odd desktop display issue developed on my Dell laptop, and I took it to Martin for service. My laptop stopped working and I needed to get it fixed asap for my work with clients. I tried three other places in Cambridge first but they either did not accept walk-ins or only worked on Apple products. I called WangPC in desperation and they told me to stop by. Erickson was very friendly and fixed the issue an hour before closing time. Unfortunately, another virus affected laptop the very next day and caused the same issue to re-occur. I went back to Martin and Erickson in desperation and they were puzzled as to what was going on with the software and why it got reinfected so quickly. They spent 5 hours uninstalling and reinstalling hard drive/software to remove all the viruses and get my laptop functioning like new. They did not charge for this second repair and said they would refund me if the issue was still not resolved. Luckily, my laptop is working perfectly now! Great service! I HIGHLY recommend them. I broke my HP laptop screen while I was on vacation in California. I did some shopping around there as well as Boston and the average charge was around $250-$300 on top of that, I was told they would have to ship it to another site for repair. I saw how well WangPC was reviewed and gave it a shot. I was immediately responded to and My laptop was picked up from my home the same day I called. Martin Wang is so talented that I'm truly dumbstruck, I'm just a hobbyist, but I built and run my own computer driven digital recording studio. We're talking a gazillion cables and internet connections and destination paths and so on and so forth. I visited Martin twice regarding an issue with my laptop and I got a true professional service from him. It's always a challenge to find a reliable, honest service person when it comes to automobile and computers and I believe I've found one for all my computer/laptop related issues.
