I powered off my 2012 macbook pro that I use everyday, 6 hours a day and when I went back to power it back up absolutely nothing. I read reviews on several repair shops, after I took it back to the Apple Genius bar, they didn't want to touch it. I was prepared to drive anywhere to fix this, I love my old computer, it is a workhorse. I found out that these guys were just 3 miles away. I visited them, at closing time and explained my issue with Mo and he told me what the likely outcome may be and said I'll call you in the morning. I'd searched long and hard for PC repair and found Mac & PC with some high ratings. They're close by and after having been very suspicious of the last repairman I tried, decided to take my business to them. I was SO glad I did. They were courteous, engaging and clearly very competent in their craft. They provided the initial diagnostic (very reasonably priced) and said they'd get back to me. Upon initial review, looked like I might need a hard drive replacement, which almost was as much as buying computer of equal value. I wasn't thrilled with that result, but proceeded to discuss options and that I wanted to weigh decisions. About 20 minutes later received a phone call from them that they'd identified the issue and that no further week would be necessary than the steps they'd taken to rectify - as well as no further costs! When I came to pick up the laptop, took time to show me the problem and how to avoid it in thru future. So, what at one point looked like a more expensive replacement or outright new purchase wound up instead only costing me the diagnostic fee pair upfront. Was happy to have had their follow through and not take advantage of the fact that I'd begun to consider more costly options. I was desperate to find a way to speed up my 2019 iMac and just when my google searches were leaving me with little hope, I remembered the great work Mohammed had done on my other apple products over the years and decided to give him a call to see if there was anything he could do... and there was! I had my MACs serviced by a well known company and they completely screwed them up. All of my data was messed up and in multiple cases unaccessible. I was so frustrated. In searching for someone who I felt comfortable with, I found Mac & guys with a 5 star rating. I spoke with Mohammed and was exceedingly impressed with his responses and felt that he would at least be honest with me and hopefully resolve all of my issues. My only hesitation was that he was a one plus hour drive away. Needless to say I did not let this get in my way. Sitting under my desk, I had a 20 year old Mac PowerPC that wouldn't power up. It sat there because I had a series of newer machines, but I didn't want to dispose of the machine because I didn't know what turn-of-the-century joys were sitting on the hard drive. I decided to mouse around the Internet to find someone who could extract the data off the hard drive, and the plethora of five-star reviews for Mac & PC Guys caught my attention. I phoned them, they sounded nice and helpful and quoted a reasonable price. That said, I circumnavigated Boston to bring my machine to Dedham, and I am glad I did. A few hours after I dropped off the machine, I got a call reporting their success at extracting the data. They moved my data onto an external hard drive, and will recycle the old machine. Had a mishap and spilled hot chocolate on my laptop -__- Luckily I acted quick and wiped off the liquid from my keyboard and tried to google what to do because it said my wifi hardware was uninstalled. After trying to troubleshoot on my own, I decided I needed to bring it in to a shop, so I hopped on google and saw they were pretty high ranking for this area. I called them up, and they were pretty certain they could fix it, but would need me to bring it in to confirm, so I arrived and they were very courteous and professional. Luckily for me there was minor water damage and they offered me a reduced rate in the case something comes up later on (hopefully not, though). Our PC computer crashed on a Saturday morning and could not repair itself. OH NO! I started calling everyone I know to see what I could do, but no one could help.... Finally I called my "IT" nephew - who said "Your computer can't repair itself? Oh - that's not good......Go on Yelp and find a good repair company." He said someone needed to open the hard drive to look at it and see what was wrong - and that I needed a professional. NOT the "Geek Squad" or any other repair people in big stores. They are not necessarily PC or Mac experts. I found Mac & PC guys on Yelp and called to explain my situation. Mohammed could not have been nicer. He told me to bring it in- he thought it was either the hard drive (it may have crashed) or Windows was corrupted. He would have to test it and diagnose it to know what was going on. I drove it there and dropped it off. He told me he would start testing it, and by the time they closed at 5 pm he would call and update me, or call sooner if he knew. He called me right before 5 pm. He said that the hard drive was good, but Windows was corrupted. They are closed on Sunday, but that Monday morning he would come in, transfer everything he could back to the hard drive and then reinstall everything. However, some files would be lost if they were Windows files- since that was what was corrupted. But if the hard drive had crashed we would have lost everything, so this was actually good news. I also had thousands of pictures which is why it took a bit longer. We also had to find the receipt showing we purchased Windows/Microsoft Outlook etc., and email it to him so it could be all reinstalled. He called me Monday afternoon and said it was done! I was so excited. I went to get it, and all in all, the diagnostic fee , the back up fee and reinstall and to transfer all our things back on the computer was less than $200. He also gave me $10.00 off as I mentioned I found him on Yelp. I brought it home and he was right- we had lost the "C" drive. Full of important things...... We tried to get it back and got some, but were very upset. I called Mohammed to see if he could help and he had me bring in the computer and tried recovery for 2 days. But we couldn't get any more files. However, he went WAY over and beyond what he had too - and did not charge us for doing that. So I am happy to let everyone know that this is a great local business with guys that know what they are doing and have good reasonable prices and really go the extra mile. Thank you!!!! read more

I am a new resident to the Boston area. I just purchased a new Nvidia graphics card hoping to be able to install it myself into an aging PC. Unfortunately, this task proved to be too daunting for me. I checked Yelp hoping to find a computer repair shop near me. I called one in my neighborhood that was minutes away that had good reviews but their phone number was no longer in service. I then called Mac & PC Guys, spoke to Mohammed and he said he could see me later in the morning, he was a half hour away. He said if if he could install the card and the necessary drivers I could pick up the computer later that afternoon. His price was very reasonable. Ten minutes later while I was driving home Mohammed called me to say that graphics card was incompatible with my 15 year old desktop which I had suspected. I made a U-turn and headed back to the shop. I had been putting off buying a new PC dreading the setup and data transfer. My computer was running with two separate hard drives that were partitioned each running different versions of Windows. I also had some expensive software that I was concerned about being able to reinstall. I asked Mohammed if he could build a custom PC to my specs utilizing the graphics card that I had purchased. He said yes. He said he would call me within a couple of hours with the cost. His price was quite reasonable including the cost to do the data transfer. This was on Monday. He said that I could have the new computer no later than Friday that week. I came back to the shop the next day Tuesday and Mohammed discussed how the data would be transferred and the drives and data consolidated. Furthermore, he suggested cloning the drive so that I would not have to reinstall any software or change any passwords. Mohammed called me again later in the day to say that all the components he has ordered came in and that if all goes well I could possibly pick up the new computer tomorrow. Well, today is Wednesday, Mohammed called me just before 10:00 am to say the computer was ready. We checked it out first in the shop. He demonstrated some of the new features. Everything was perfect. About noon time I was home. I plugged the monitor, keyboard mouse and other peripherals in and fired it up. It was awesome. All the software was working like before but with lightning speed as was my internet connection. Amazing that just two days from the time I first met Mohammed I now have a brand new computer custom built to my specs with all the data and programs transferred from my old machine now working perfectly and utilizing the latest Windows 11 operating system. I'm not big on writing reviews. But, the service and reasonable price that Mohammed provided deserves the highest accolades. 5 stars -- I was helping a family member with a computer issue remotely (I live in California) and managed to get her windows 10 laptop into a no-boot situation. Brought in a Seagate external 5tb drive for repair or data recovery. After checking it out, drive could not be repaired, data recovery very expensive. The manager told me to try Seagate and see if they would recover the data. I had an extended warranty that had run out 4 years ago (never got a warning from Seagate it was up). Called Seagate, they said they wouldn't recover the data, take it to a 3rd party, probably $1500. He then asked how his performance was on scale of 1-10. I said 0 since it was no help to me. He asked me to wait 2 minutes, got back on and offered to recover the data free of charge, and they will pay shipping to and from. I then rated his performance a 10. Picked up my drive from Mac & PC guys, offered to pay for some bubble wrap, static free bag and shipping box - they gave it to me free. So - honest, helpful folks here. Appreciate it! read more

I highly recommend bringing your Apple products here for repair. Mohammed is personable and saved me $550.00 to repair my MacBook Air. My MacBook shutdown one day a few months ago and had that dreadful flashing folder sign in the screen. I googled a bunch of stuff and tried everything they suggested to run my last update but it wouldn't work. I looked on yelp to find a good and affordable place to try and fix the issue. I called Mac & PC Guys and they told me it would be a $34.99 diagnostic fee. That was affordable enough. Turns out my hard drive was no good and the data couldn't be recovered. They called be back and gave me my options. I decided to replaced the hard drive. The total cost was approx $185. This was so affordable and they did it in one day. They also installed the latest IOS so I basically had a brand new computer when all was said and done.
