A quick update to my previous review: the short-term fix that Jim did for me 17 months ago (!!!!) was estimated to last a couple of months, so I bought a new laptop at that time and waited for things to slow down again before having him transfer the data to the new one for me. My old laptop just kept on going and I just left the new laptop in its box, tucked away in a closet. My Windows laptop would no longer boot after doing a Windows update, leading me to believe there was a software problem. However, the laptop wouldn't respond to any of the usual S/W recovery processes. I gave up after many hours and brought it to Jim at Geek Handyman. He agreed to look at it right away and quickly came back with a correct diagnosis (bad SSD). This was something I was comfortable fixing myself, so I picked up the laptop and paid a very reasonable diagnosis fee. I ordered a new SSD from Amazon and the laptop came right up and loaded Windows on the first attempt. I'm sure Jim would have successfully replaced the SSD and reloaded Windows if I wasn't comfortable doing it myself. Jim came to my home after I returned from vacation to find my old Mac was dead. He retrieved my hard drive, transferred to my new computer and ensured that all transferred data was retrievable before leaving. All in my home at a very reasonable price. We had Jim come to our house and work on 2 laptops. Within a short amount of time he had one diagnosed and repaired. The second one needed more TLC so it took a little longer. Did a great job repairing this laptop and made some suggestions that my husband was very pleased with. Bought my computer from best buy and also purchased the geek squad coverage. In general it took forever to get my computer serviced by the geek squad. The last time I got my computer fixed back it was still messed up. There was so much bureaucracy trying to get things resolved that when my policy expired I decided not to back there again.
