I bought a pc from them on Dec 30, 2020. It was a Cyberpower PC, which, in case people want to know, has its own issues with customer service and I would not recommend to anyone. The person who took care of me seemed very knowledgeable, was nice, and considering it was during the holidays, I considered them pretty good. When I got it home, I noticed Windows was not activating. This was annoying and should have been a red flag, as this was something I had never experienced before. In a rush to game, I figured it was probably not that big of a deal. Emailing the salesperson, they explained this is something which sometimes happens and to contact the manufacturer (which I did and whom did not get back to me for over 2 weeks). However, during this period, I was having some hard crashes. Blue screens. This should have been the second red flag. I've used computers since the late 80s, I know what Blue Screens are and also know they are very rare with new PCs. I went to call Microcenter, of course, their phone number is not listed. So I brought my PC in. Mind you, I don't have a car, so this ends up being a 50 dollar Uber round trip. Bring it in and the tech goes through it, I describe the issue. They are unable to find a problem. The PC seems to be working fine. I should have left it there and had them thoroughly test it. I realize now that was a bad move on my part. Few weeks later (mind you this is roughly TWO months after buying the PC), I have some serious crashes. To the point where the system can not find the hard drive and therefore can not boot. I bring it in again (another 50 dollars), and this time leave it there. They call me a day later to tell me the hard drive DIED. I have used PCs like I said before since the late 80s. I am 42 for reference. Never in my life can I recall a hard drive dying. While I am no computer whiz, I consider myself competent when it comes to computers, ie replacing parts, cleaning it properly, etc. When they called, they said that the pc is out of warranty and that they were not a Cyberpower repair place. So my options were to either pay for a hard drive (around 180 dollars) or ship the dead hard drive to Cyberpower and have them replace it. (Which, as I reference before, likely would have taken months). I decided to opt to pay, which is my choice, of course, but this whole experience has left a very bad taste in my mouth. I know that nowadays, getting extended warranties is big money for places like this, however, I personally would be EMBARASSED, if I sold a product that failed as much as this has. When I picked up my PC (which works fine so I know at least they are competent in fixing PCs), the manager had the audacity to ask that I leave a good review. The audacity! I didn't say anything at the time because the whole experience was so unnerving. The most proper response to me, would be an apology that the part failed and to replace it free of charge. This is called good business. I grew up in the retail world, my mother ran a local pharmacy. She went out of her way to address any issues customers had. Obviously, pharmacy is more important than computers, but the point is that, whether or not it is part of a warranty, a hard drive should not fail 2 months after purchase. Now, I will say in the past Microcenter has provided good customer service, when it comes to buying PARTS that is. I think it is probably a good place to go to if you are looking to build your own pc. But I will never buy another PC from them ever again, and if I do decide to build my own, I may go there for some information, but not to buy. I understand that there are store policies and what not, but there is something to be said for addressing an issue when it arises. I am lucky that I have a stable income that I could afford the replacement hard drive. read more

I never leave reviews for anything. But I feel like I am left with no recourse to do anything else. My laptop servicing with Micro Center was nothing short of disastrous, creating a huge new problem that left me without a laptop for almost two months and thousands in unplanned fees. I brought in an old laptop and left with a corrupted one, in far worse condition than when I brought it in, and which I could no longer use or retrieve data from. All I was given in compensation was a new quote that Micro Center could fix the laptop for $1300+ extra. No effort to understand my situation, no effort to make amends or right the wrong, even blaming me for the problem--I had to and did provide them with evidence that the laptop was working before bringing it in store. All this is unacceptable and borders on tortious. Throughout, I got nothing but negligent service from workers in store and management--both times visiting I needed to wait 30 minutes longer than what I was scheduled for. Before the second appointment I specifically requested that I would be in a rush and needed things to be on time. I was told this would not be an issue but it ended up being one. Then, when I finally learned how to reach out to management about the situation (no one in store or on the website makes this easy) I got ghosted after my first email by the manager himself! Save your troubles and run, don't walk to virtually any other computer service center. after my 2012 mac book had hard drive issues. I took it to the apple store, because it was so old, they sent me to best-buy, best-buy couldn't replace the hard drive so i went back to the mac store after paying geek squad $200 to do a hardware check. I went to another Apple store and lo and be-hold the computer came on and was working fine, which was strange. The associate at the Apple store told me to go to Micro center because he knew others with the same issues that got their Mac fixed at Micro center, He did tell me the price for it to be fixed at Apple but suggested Micro center would be cheaper. I dropped my Mac off at Micro center paid about $45 service fee to check on the issue. 3-4 days later they confirmed it was a hard drive issue, and that i would need a new hard drive. Everything was about $200. which was a whole lot cheaper than buyer a new laptop. I am currently writing this review on my laptop thanks to Micro Center. Would i go back here? Yes!. It is time for Revenge of the Nerds! J/K! But in a world where shopping for computer items have been relegated mostly to the Internet, it is nice to know that the box-store is still alive and kicking! In fact Micro Center has been expanding, this location just opened Monday with another store expected to open soon in Queens. After brunching with friends, one mentioned difficulty researching parts for a desktop he is building. I told him of the new store's opening and that I frequently went to the one in Westbury. The only drawback is that it is located in the hinterland under the BQE, but I could see why - they were able to utilize warehouse space to create an enormous center! My friend was drooling as we entered, like a kid in a candy store! Friendly staff greeted us as we entered and showed us the sections we needed to go. I had been sent a special coupon for a free 16GB flash drive to celebrate their opening, but it had to be printed, I explained to the staff member who let me use one of their computers to print it - way to go! My friend talked a long time with a patient associate regarding the components he needed for his computer build; the associate did not pressure him into purchasing a specific component, or even purchasing now (my friend mentioned he still is researching). However my friend obtained a list of components and will return and seek out that specific associate when he returns next week! Meanwhile my other friend and I wandered around the store and looked at all the amazing stuff - including a 3D printer they had, and showed us some models they had created. I picked up a few peripherals and was even given a free mug. I am a hands on person when it comes to purchases, I like to see and peruse the box, be able to speak to a knowledgeable person, and have the instant gratification of having my item immediately. Plus customer service at site is always a bonus. Yes, you may probably find items cheaper online, but what I mentioned above often trumps online purchasing (plus I have no one at my home to accept packages). The huge parking lot is the cherry on the top. It is a bit of a trek for those taking mass transit, but the hike is worth it. I have been a fan of Micro Center, and I am glad they are finally in the city. Hey, when shopping at Costco you can drop the shopping phobic spouse and the kids at Micro Center while facing the hordes at Costco -LOL. read more

Pretty empty at this time so my advice is to come around 6:30pm if you're coming on a Friday. The atmosphere inside is pretty laid back. Loads of available CSRs on the floor to assist. Cashing is not too slow even though there's only two open registers. Too many computer/gadgets, I'm tired, it's been a long day. You guys come on down when you're ready. P.S at this time the carpark is pretty lonely so ladies don't come alone! I was just accosted by a dude demanding I buy him a tablet and he appeared very belligerent. Great service. I brought my Alienware PC in after it was experiencing some power issues. The extremely helpful staff took a look and let me know that to check the device in it would be a 7-day wait because of current backup times with the technicians, which I understand and is totally reasonable. I wasn't in a position to be without my computer that long, so Sheldon and Yordis helped me find the right power supply unit for my computer and gave me a walk-through on how to install it myself. I was having a very stressful morning over this and these cats really turned it around for me. Thanks guys! read more

Blown away! This entire huge warehouse is up and running, right under my nose, and I just noticed it for the first time. They have a ginormous parking lot overlooking the Greenwood Heights/Sunset Park waterfront. I like that they kept the original, old-style factory look of this warehouse. It's very well- kept, clean, airy, spacious and well stocked. The staff here is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and super efficient! They were so great and attentive. I was just there for the second time and met the General Manager Joe. What a lovely, lovely person who had the nicest things to say about the company and the people who he works with. This place just has such a great vibe, I think they will do very well in Greenwood. I also love the fact that the staff members represent Brooklyn by wearing a little Brooklyn pin on their lapels! As per their request for additional information, this is what I provided: Here are the details.  A bit of seltzer water, not much landed on the key board..  I did all the regular sort of steps to dry it out...  after a few days I gave it a try - lots of keys work, some are dead.  I attempted a bunch of fixes but none worked. I did buy a logitech external keyboard which works fine.  I see no other problems with this computer except the keyboard.  I could continue using the external keyboard, but I would prefer to have this computer fixed with a new keyboard.  I was trying to get a price from you without having to come into your place.  Let me know. Much appreciated  - let me know if that would be a new HP keyboard or a refurbed HP keyboard or a non HP keyboard. Martin, Bklyn, NY AGAIN, NO ONE has gotten back to me on this. And that is AFTER they reached out to me - which I thought was a great sign and I was feeling like OK, we're going to get this problem resolved. NO ONE has gotten back to me. I've called HP in Cali. There was something wrong with my computer and I couldn't figure it out, except that I could smell burning during my session with one of the texts we discovered that the motherboard was burned out because it is a dell computer. The customer service for this place is unbelievable. I needed a new computer rig and I'm not very knowledgeable about the kind of tech I was looking for. I spoke to Kevin about what I wanted and he advised me about several options, older models when I wasn't sure about the prices, and explained what all the specs meant when I didn't understand them. I spoke to Antonio about printers and he was very clear about the pros and cons of different types and why one may be better for my needs than another. He also gave me a second opinion about the computer stats as I still wasn't sure and explained caring for it. The manager, whose name I didn't get, was very nice and checked in on us about how we were doing and came to find us when we had a problem with the receipt. On our way out we misplaced our car keys and thought we lost them and someone heard us and they called me afterwards to check we had found them and were ok. These guys are great. read more

This electronics store is huge and well organized. The building is shared with other stores, but it's totally separate entrances and space. There's plenty of parking so as long as you have a car, it's pretty easy to get to. They prices are very competitive and they were having a big flash memory sale and sent me mailing for a few freebies and shop around. read more

Absolute TRASHY repair serivce. My PC needed to be repaired. I thought let me take it to microcenter and try out the repair service. Big mistake! 40 dollars just to let them take it in (i dont mind paying more if I feel like the end product justifies the means) They took it in and 2 days later instead of a phone call i received a text message from them telling me the SSD failed. I would need a new one. I had a lot of questions i wanted to ask. the service tech was slow to answer and didnt seem to care. I didn't think much of it tho I was bit annoyed we couldn't talk on the phone as texting was PAINFULLY slow due top their slow response and and nonchalant responses to my computer. I told them i want a new SSD and download a new Windows 10 operating system. BOOM 99 dollars for new OS.... 99 dollars for installing a m2 SSD... and 27 dollars for a new SSD. I'm in over 250 dollars. seems like a huge premium but i wanted to see their work so i OK'ed the job and got the PC later that night. When i first got the PC I was surprised they did a decent job removing the dust and dirt out my PC (is that worth the initial 40 dollars...sure, maybe) took the PC back home and in 2 weeks my new windows OS says I need product key to activate the full windows experience. I thought maybe they forgot to give the product key lemme just call them and sort this out. called twice both times tried to connect to this brooklyn 3rd ave store. NOTHING... its like this store is allergic to talking on the phone. both instances it went to a microcenter in ohio and each time they tried to connect me to this brooklyn store. nothing both times theyt told me they would call back....NOTHING. for a big store like microcenter its literally impossible to get someone in touch if you need anything... so much for paying a nice premium to microcenter. You wont see the premium in their customer services. So had to drive back to the store where i got some lazy response saying that its MY fault the product key failed. Another great experience at Brooklyn Microcenter. I purchased a refurbished LG OLED TV about 8 months ago for my PC build. It sat there at home in the box for 8 months because I was waiting to complete my build before unboxing the monitor. I open the box today and before unwrapping anything I realized the screen was lightly damaged. Not too surprising since I believe the TVs are refurbished by a third party company, not by Microcenter. Anyways, I contacted Microcenter online via chat and they recommended I go into Microcenter and speak to the manager. I spoke to Rob, the general manager, and he was very helpful. They didn't have the same tv in stock but I was able to get the newest model, brand new (not refurbished) for a small difference in price. Rob even rolled over the 3 year protection plan I had on the old tv. Picked up some extra RAM for my pc while I was there at a great price. Thanks Rob and team! 2019.08.30 So i needed a new workstation for school, additionally I am a Mac guy. Not because I'm part of the "cult of Mac". Mainly because I have had my MacBook Pro for 10 years. The reason is I purchased this device before the 5 year mark and added the warranty. It sound crazy but since Micro Center knows that they cannot replace it. I get the total amount I paid in store credit. So the $1K I used to purchase this system will be available like a credit that I can use to replace with a "new" device. So I got to give a lot of props to brother who made it possible for me to get the system I needed, not compromise on the esthetic of the machine, save some money and get peace of mind. I bought a monitor from the Brooklyn store last year. I wasn't sure about the monitor and talked about it at great length with the rep. He assured me that if I purchased protection I would be able to swap the monitor out at any time within the two year period for another model closer to what I was looking for. I would just need to pay the difference if it was more expensive. Recently I found a more suitable monitor for my needs on the Microcenter website so I called the store to ask what the process is to trade it in. The phone rep (who was excellent) tells me there is no such arrangement with the protection plan. So I'm stuck with an $800 monitor I never would have bought and $80 of coverage I don't need. The rep in store blatantly lied to my face to get the sale... Good times... read more

I thought this micro center was like the one in Patterson, Sadly I had a very bad customer service experience with some of the staff. The layout of the store felt very condensed. There was stuff all over the place and was not kept. Items were not specifically place and felt cluttered. I came to this place because I was in New York and wanted to find an 8 pin extension cable for my power supply. All they had was a 24 pin extender. I went to an employee and he told me that they were not a specialty store and recommended me to Amazon to buy the product ( which is weird for a very specific store that is not trying to be Best Buy and for PC HARDWARE). He then recommended me replacement cables ( which I did not need at all ) and told me that extenders will only work with the company that made my psu. Was very apathetic and felt like this person did not care about the consumer. Bought 2 8 pin connectors on amazon for a cheap price and had no problems with them whatsoever. Waste of a sale opportunity. Store needs to retrain / get more knowledgeable/caring employees. Will not come back. read more

Imagine me leaving a 5-star review after finding out my laptop is dead forever with no chance of retrieving the data on it... but the technician I worked with, Craig D., helped make the best of a devastating situation. When I showed up with a MacBook that wouldn't turn on, Craig talked me through his examination while he took the computer apart in front of me. Once determined my computer was a goner, he discussed with me all considerations that would help me in choosing a replacement device. Although there was no hope for my laptop, I left feeling informed and much calmer. He was incredibly patient, personable, thorough, and helpful. It's clear he's passionate about his work, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience given the circumstances. I will definitely be back for future tech needs. read more

Poor customer service even at the most quite times. Buying a simple charger for my laptop took over 45 minutes of just standing around to grab the attention of a customer service person. All seemed busy helping only certain kind of a customer walking through the door (you all know who this is). Very rude and not helpful. Thank goodness place like these are going extinct and replaced by the giant internet stores. If you don't like your job and helping people you shouldn't be employed in the customer service industry in the first place. Tip: If needing an Apple product, don't waste your time here. This is a follow-up review of the one I posted several days ago. On Saturday morning I spoke with Robert Mucaria, the General Manager at the Brooklyn location. Robert insisted that my 3 yr warranty was actually only valid for one occurrence. When I outlined the representations made on the date of purchase in front of 2 adults (me and my wife) he protested that was not correct. He said he couldn't verify a conversation that took place 3 months ago because of memory lapses. He was reminded the 3 yr warranty was for precisely a 3 yrs period. There was no limit on the frequency or number of occurrences. As he pressed his position, I asked him to provide me with the specific language supporting his claim. His response was, "We don't provide the details of the warranties because there are pages and pages of fine print. There is just too much information." Of course he didn't provide the language I requested. Instead he directed to me to the links provided on my receipt. So what did I do next? I contacted Micro Center's Customer Service Department. I discussed the situation in detail. THE RESPONSE WAS THAT I WAS COVERED FOR 3 YRS REGARDLESS OF THE NUMBER OF INCIDENTS UNDER NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. The commentary is in writing. It is documented. Robert Mucaria has a copy of the Customer Service emails. I was also provided with the company's Service Agreement for in store custom built systems. There is no language supporting Robert Mucaria's claims. He intentionally misrepresented. The next step will be to contact corporate headquarters and begin of process of arbitration (a referenced right and ready option outlined in the Service Agreement) concurrently with a filing in Small Claims Court. Stay away from this store. The General Manager, Robert Mucaria, is unprofessional and more than willing to falsify the facts. Shot here at your peril. Will keep everyone updated. read more

Micro Center is unreliable in these times, they should not be open during a pandemic and when there is a curfew. I just lost time and money for a roundtrip with a Lyft to Micro Center (BK Location) to pick up my orders. This was the last day that I could pick them up. I checked today with their text messaging service, who advised to check online, it stated 5PM. I arrive at 4:23PM and the store closes in my face as I arrived. The time spent there talking to the security and manager could have been spent to bring my order and be done with it, but that was not feasible. The manager would only extend my order to tomorrow. Once I arrive home, I receive an email stating that my order was cancelled because it was is suddenly of stock. I am really disappointed in Micro Center in their handling of my order and the situation. These are unstable times and Micro Center is unreliable, if they are truly concerned with the employees safety why do they keep their store open? They say they're open but when the customer shows up they are not available to serve their customer. I don't understand. There's dozens of employees standing around, chitchatting, doing a whole bunch of nothing, and when you need help they tell you it's not their department. They will send you wandering around the store until you finally figure out what you need, that is if you don't give up and leave. Twice this week I tried to buy headphones. I went, selected headphones, got on line, watched about half a dozen to eight people stand around doing anything but checking out all of the people standing in line. Only one or two people actually working the register is. The rest of them are empty. But there are other employees standing around chitchatting. Twice I put down the merchandise and left. read more

This store is ginormous! Large spacious layout with aisle after aisle of gadgets. This is a geeksters strip club! Come here and you will "make it rain" with your money. There are so many things to pick up even when it's not what you were looking for. There are sales people walking around that are willing to assist and the Palestinian cashier was very courteous. The parking lot could accommodate Costco shoppers, more than enough space. If your reading this you already know all the tech parts that await you at Microcenter. Enjoy! read more

I'll give this place 2 stars only because Devon was awesome and attentive and helped me pick a laptop from their inventory that matched the specs I was looking for. It was refurbished, something I've never done before, but it was a Dell XPS for $400 so it seemed like a sweet deal. Things went smoothly during setup, however, when I went to log into Windows the next day it wouldn't let me. It said my username/password was incorrect. I never forget passwords. I live-chatted with one of "the best minds in the computer industry" according to their site and my troubleshooting went as such: "Did you leave caps lock/num lock on?" "No, how would I tell if num lock is on?" "Well the key would be lit up." "Well it's a backlit keyboard, but no, nothing is obviously lit other than that." "Oh, you're gonna have to go into the store for that. Sorry about that." Went into the store to their (un)Help(ful) Desk where a woman told me I would need to pay $30 for a password reset. On a computer I just bought from their store. Two days ago. With a 2-year warranty. Luckily my wonderful tech buddy offered to meet me this same night to solve the problem himself. I believe there is a glitch in the system because I've been playing around with it and it doesn't correctly register password changes. If I find I cant deal with it, or another issue pops up within the 15-day return period, Micro Center will be losing $400 over a $30 reset. Give me a reason to. They're not getting my business anymore. read more

This location is 850 third avenue and over near the highway. I have been here about twice so far, it is a computer geek's favorite place. I got the Azpen Tablet A727 as part of a promotion. It was a nice model and once I got to the location found the product I was looking for right away. There was a sensor on the whole stack of the tablets and someone was there to ask you if you wanted a warranty. I got the two year for $1.99 additional charge. I like the tablet but need to add memory to it. I still have over a year on the warranty and it still works. Will come back here soon. read more

I went during the Covid/19 crisis to fix my phones cracked screen. I understand this situation has put people on edge, but the employees outside the building were aggressive and condescending to me and other people. Nevertheless, I gave my phone to them to be repaired. They offered up no receipt, no tracking ID, no estimated cost and no estimate of time! (I understand they are middle men who ship to Apple, but at least a timeframe helps...) I got a call 3 days later saying the cost would be $320... so for a repair that costs $129 direct from Apple. Now I have to drive back, wait in line to get my phone. For the privilege of having Microcenter sending out your phone to Apple to get fixed, you pay $200 dollars. A scam and a ripoff. Why not be transparent and there would be one less customer in your store and one less time your agro employees have to deal with a customer. read more
