Well, I just ended one of the absolute worst shopping experiences of my life. I left this review on their other site too. I specifically came here after ordering a Web order of one of the two things they had - and then the following sequence of events happened. 1. My web order was not on the shelf, even though I had a confirmation email, they saw the confirmation email in their system, and then weren't able to find it after 10 minutes of searching. They then told me to go to the floor (no help, no direction on where to go) to go find what they lost 2. I am told to go to a sales representative on the floor. I tell him what I need, knowing that there is still one left in their inventory since I didn't buy them out with my Web order. He searches the generic name of the brother labels i'm looking for (literally "brother's label cartridge"), the results are very long, he doesn't go past the first page, and he tells me that they don't carry that here at all 3. I then show him the page on the website with the right name. He finally looks it up. he tells me it's an aisle seven and tells me to go there. 4. I go to aisle seven I search for another 10 minutes, no help from any staff at this point, and no cartridge to be found - neither the one I ordered online nor the one they had left in inventory. Look, I know mistakes happen, but there was a point of friction on every single step in this process. There was no accountability, no support when things went wrong, and no accommodation once the experience is wrapped up. I've had two negative and two neutral experiences. I've tried. I'm sorry. This store is very conveniently located, the staff is generally friendly and knowledgeable. Prices range from reasonable to good with some expected exceptions. Variety of merchandise is pretty wide with DIY sections being rather useful and interesting. Aisles are clean and wide, well-lit. It's easy to reserve pieces of merchandise online in order to later pick them up at store. Mail-in freebies offers are nice, too. The Brooklyn location amenities include large parking space and restrooms. There is no loud, crappy music blasted into your ears. Thank you for that! I tend to escape some establishments where music is loud and annoying. Too bad that the store has no seating spaces, since the location is quite spacious, and if you have time to spend there, you get tired. Definitely do your homework before visiting Micro Center, as that place is certainly intriguing, but your experience there is much better, if you know why you are there. If you decide to misbehave at that store somehow badly, then keep in mind that a New York City Department of Correction building is right next door :) . read more

Over the years, we have bought computer components at good prices from Micro Center and they have a great selection. They run special deals on combos of motherboards bundled with CPUs & RAM all the time, which I used to build mine and my son's last computers. Their prices are competitive with online stores. I also like that they occasionally send out coupons for free stuff, like memory cards, flash drives and Bluetooth headphones just to lure you back into the store. Plus they have clearance items that are always good to check, never knowing what you might find. Not as well known as for their computer components is that they also sell many hobby items similar to what Radio Shack used to stock. They have breadboards, soldering irons, wire strippers and other tools. They also sell techie toys like drones, 3D printers and even LEGO sets. But for a while they were also stocking model rockets and accessories, although at MSRP prices. This time, they look to be liquidating the model rocket stocks because they have not restocked in years. All rocket accessories and supplies were 50%-70% off list prices, as listed on their website and I cleaned them out of just about all the rocket engines. The checkout guy asked if I was planning to launch to the moon. What would have been $400 as originally tagged, scanned for $120. Whenever I see a crazy deal like this, I am all over it! read more

This is our 3rd shopping at the Micro Center. Usually order online for a PC or monitor for the kids and pick up at the store. Purchased an "open box" PC. Don't ask, my son says it's ok, should be fine. It was missing some screws, the power cord, and fan won't spin. Ok, we were able to get those missing pieces. What's worse? The windows OS was locked and it was missing some access key. We had no choice but to go back to the store and hope they can figure it out. The Knowledge Center - support desk guy was nice but no dice. Couldn't make it work. This could have been a horrible experience. However, the floor manager took the return and exchanged it for a new one. Turned it to a great customer experience and very appreciative, especially when these are not low price items. read more

Phone calls and live human chats led to very nice people who said they would have the manager call us. 21 hours later we still haven't received their call. The printer we bought had a missing print cartridge that is required for it to function so we are unable to use it. read more

He was very patient and also helped me pick out the best parts that someone would need. Micro Center - Brooklyn Win 11 does it again! My internet speed was halved after a driver update and all the comments posted online had no resolution. There were only questions and frustrations - with no resolution. After contacting Windows, Dell, and Verizon multiple times over the course of two months the writing was on the wall, especially when the Dell techs. I spoke with at least six Win agents, four Dell agents, and four Asus agents over a two-week period, also had a number of disconnects (this wasn't the first rodeo with their lackluster hardware/software. Dell's first go-to solution was we need to do a Windows reinstall! When I spoke with MS Win support it led to me doing two windows reinstalls - which did not work other create further chaos with apps, router and time. After lots of frustration and finally anger with Dell for other issues I had a paid warranty plan for and post paid support on an issue that may have to do with their software/hardware working with Win updates - well, no more. No more Dells (and if I could dump Windows I would) - tech support sucks when it comes to international online and phone support from India (the worst), then the Philippines. Spain, Latin America and the Middle East seem much more intelligent, diligent and trained. I finally brought the pc into Micro Center and Abdul looked over and tested the PC. It gave it a clean bill of health as far as the settings and that none of the hardware was damaged. He did verify there was something wrong, and it was most likely a software issue affecting either the software operation or the hardware - which they can't work on. All in all it gave me the knowledge I needed to proceed with what I need to do next. As far as Micro Center's free consultation - it's the real deal! Not a cent. You can trust them to hold to their promise - free of any catches or gimmicks. By the way I was able to walk in without an appointment. Everyone is cordial and helpful when they are not busy with another customer. They are typically busy in the Custom Build area. The only issue is the lack of staff to take care of the volume of customers at the help desk and custom builds. It's not perfect although you'll ultimately get served - just don't plan something too close in time when you think you'll be finished. *Ps - if you have a solution that worked for you, or someone you know, to fix crusted internet speeds over ethernet connection on Win 11 desktop, please share. I ran ethernet direct to modem on Cat 6 and validated it was the pc by testing against my notebook. I also tried everything including factory resetting routers, other cables, Windows and router tweaks I found online, all did not work. :) Power up and get connected! read more

The knowledge of the employees regarding their merchandise and answering technical question is great. The price to diagnose and repair laptops is reasonable. After visiting the Best Buy geek squad with a laptop, that I later found out needed a new WiFi card, and being told that it had to be shipped out for repairs. I declined the offer and took it to the micro center. The repair was completed the same day within hours of me leaving the laptop with them. On the other hand the geek squad tried to convince me to purchase an external WiFi adapter after I refused they did not have the knowledge to repair the laptop in house. They could not give me a price for the repair before they would ship it out. They could not call the repair place to ask. The laptop works like new. read more

Absolutely Horrible Customer Service--Will Never Return I visited this store for the first time, and thanks to Danny W., it will also be my last. From the moment I asked for help, he was dismissive, disrespectful, and outright contradictory in everything he said. I came in with a simple question, and instead of offering assistance, he made me feel like I was wasting his time. His tone was rude, his attitude unprofessional, and he clearly had zero interest in helping a new customer. It's beyond me how someone like that is allowed to represent any business. Brought Mac Book in that wasn't charging. Paid $85 for them to run diagnostic. They texted back that it would cost $1500 to repair. I said no. They could not explain what the diagnostics showed or what the repair would entail. So $85 for no info and handed me my laptop back. I come here for my 3D printing hobby and simply love it. I've been going here since I found a deal for a 3D printer and they were able to guide me through the process. The staff were a bit spread far apart, making it harder for me to find an associate who was available, but when I finally found one, my answers were answered quickly. The only reason they didn't get the 5th star was because their organization of the 3D printing filaments was a bit chaotic. Finding a color you want, especially when you can't find it but it says "In stock" online is a bit of a headache. Their website will tell you it's available, but you might be spending some time looking for the color you want. read more

A very convenient place to come to locally for your electronic needs. The reason for my most recent visit, was to accompany my father-in-law to get a new printer since his other one finally kicked the bucket. He had an idea of how much he wanted to spend, and that was about it. Seemed like an easy enough visit and it was. The experience was no more than 15 minutes, tops. We walked right to the easily labeled section of printers, and took a look at what they had. They had models and displays that you could touch and handle, so that was nice. Good help was hard to come by, and there are plenty of able bodies on the floor to help, but no one really seemed to care or be too willing to help. We had to chase down a trio of guys that were talking privately, and ask if the printer simply came with ink. One guy didn't even bother to look and see what model or box my FIL was lugging around, and was like yup, it does. He was very standoff-ish, and didn't seem to be very personable at all. He went back to his prior conversation without looking back at us, so we walked away. My FIL wasn't too taken aback like I was, and we went on line, purchased, and asked about the return policy. We also made sure to tell the guy at checkout that no one helped us with our decision making with the printer. This place has TONS of stuff, but the staff could really step it up a notch; it could be alot busier if they did. read more

I liked visiting Microcenter. The store is well-stocked with various electronics, but what did it for me was the ample supply 3D printing supplies, including filament, printers, and accessories. The staff was helpful, and they were able to answer all of my questions. I even managed to pick up a Raspberry Pi during the shortage at the beginning of the year. I recommend the store. The prices are reasonable, and the service is okay, both of which are comparable to the old CompUSA. read more

They also have all the services you need to either build your own or get just about anything else. The service is knowledgeable. General tips for laptops: Pay a bit more. Your 300$ laptop is going to last a whole lot less time in general than one for 700$ even if you're not using it for gaming Best non-Apple brands: Asus, HP, Lenovo Worst brand: Dell. This store is horrible for laptop repairs. This place charged me an arm and a leg for a repair that a local store would have charge me half the price. The price is not even the biggest issue here but I told the sales person not to install windows 11 on the laptop due to the fact the specifications on my laptop can not handle windows 11. I told him if you install it on the laptop it will cause the system to move slowly. Guess what these guys did? They installed windows 11 and even charged me for that when I told them to install windows 10. Prior to this issue, I went to them to help fix my track pad and the laptop came back without screw on the bottom of it. Long story short, proceed with caution before dealing with these people for any repairs. read more

A very bad shopping experience. The store manager had a bad attitude. I just bought a PC today. When I went home to install it, I found that there were no power cord and instructions. I called the customer service twice. The first time, they said that the manager would reply soon, but I waited for an hour and still didn't get a reply. The second time, I asked if I needed to bring the entire box and PC back to the store to pick up the power cord?though PC is a little bit heave to carry onto the car.They said no. But when I got to the store, the manager said that he didn't receive any calls. He also questioned why I didn't bring the entire box back if something was missing since the box was sealed. I was so upset about it,I just spend almost $ 3000 here.and feel like I was cheat to him.Anyway, the sales employee named Josh in the store helped me and solved my problem. I bought a my first ever gaming PC from these guys and the GPU broke within the first two weeks. They said I can get only the whole PC replaced and not just the GPU free of charge for some insane reasoning. I have already setup my PC to my liking and would like to avoid having to redo everything. They offered no discounts or help getting the massive PC back to them 2 hours from me even after I paid 2k for this thing. Its become the biggest inconvenience ever and if they would just offer me a free GPU I'd be happy. I'm considering just getting my money back. I hope the store manager reads this and contacts me because he shook my hand personally when I bought it and said If I needed anything contact them and they would handle it for me, but that hasnt been the case. Good place, great employees but there's a bit of a scam in their system when it comes to repairing devices. Brought my laptop, which had a minor issue. My ssd drive needed a update but In order for them to do that, they insisted I backup my data onto a new drive (which cost 177$). not to mention, 40$ for a diagnosis. overall, for a small update on my driver, I paid 190$ + 40$ to fix my problem which turned out to be small. The 2tb they backed up my stuff on is worth 80$ but they charged 190$ for the service. Why don't they have an empty drive to backup stuff just incase things get corrupted, instead of making customers buy a new drive ? im pretty sure there's a reason but if your looking to fix things here, I don't recommend. Ive been a customer with micro center for a while & thought they would take care of me but instead they took from me. Disappointed & there's still so much more to the story. Going to chinatown or geek squad is way better than this systematic place. everything is system rules this, system rules that but what about the relationship with your customers ? .. oh that doesn't matter read more

So this definitely needed an updated review. While my last review was 3 stars due my frustration with reaching anyone, my in-store experiences have been great. I have come here about 5 times since my last review. And each time the staffs have been polite and helpful. I needed a new phone charger, but a particular type of charger. The staff took his time explaining to me what would be a good option and why it was good. I was happy with my purchase when I got home to use it. It fully charged my phone half the time it normally takes. So yes, the staff knew what he was talking about. I would say the layout of the store can be overwhelming if you're not into technology. But you can ask any staff what you're looking for and they will direct you to the right aisle. read more

Definitely had a bad experience at Microcenter. Reserved a refurbished TV, last one in stock, headed there despite it being out of the way from where I live, only for them to try to hand me the wrong TV! Apparently, according to the store's manager Darwin, the website had an "error" and they meant this cheaper TV despite what was listed on the site. They swapped out the TVs but I received no warning or phone calls, and none of the staff said anything as I was handed the cheaper TV, as if I wouldn't notice and just pay for it. When I spotted the difference in time, Darwin was unapologetic and said it was a website error and nothing they can do. No one seemed to care that I traveled all the way there to pick it up or the fact they tried to sneakily hand me the wrong TV in hopes I didn't notice! When I chatted with customer service online, turns out the manager could have chosen to give the TV at the listed price or at least offer the discount. I'm not mad that he didn't, I'm mad that he said "nothing we can do" and that turned out to be a lie! It really felt like bait and switch but they're not hooking me anymore! Plenty of other stores to shop from that have better customer service and/or better prices! read more

It's such a time in this day and age when I want to build my own PC but have NO CLUE what I'm doing. Yes, YouTube tutorials are one thing but since I'm a hands on learner; sometimes I just can't get it. This 5 star is going to the wonderful Reinaldo! Who saw me looking clueless next to the available graphics cards. Micro center has such a wide variety of everything that it can get overwhelming but he helped me every step of the way and even took a look at the list I made. Constructive criticism may hurt my feelings but his advice wasn't to sway what I wanted but give me more perspective of how it will run in comparison to how it will look. With streaming and my art set up, he knew I'd need a better parts. At this point, I didn't mind paying a bit extra because he EXPLAINED why I would need them instead of just upselling me for the heck of it. 10/10 service and care. Also big 10/10 for micro center getting employees that are knowledgeable and love what they do. Along with having EVERYTHING. My friend is a hardcore techie nerd and he loves this place and so do I. We came here to find me an antenna for my TV and boom, they have it, with a bunch of selection to choose from too. The customer service was stella. We were constantly greeted and one of the sale person came to us and asked if we're okay or if we needed any help. He did it in a way where he wasn't try to sell but more like he's trying to help. Kudos for that. They also do price match, offer wifi and free coffee so you can linger around and see what good stuff they carry. Best of all, they have a bathroom. Haha...I know, it's minor but it's also cool. Sales staff and the build-a-pc staff are knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and go the extra mile. Knowledge bar... not so much. I find myself disappointed. I had finished a pc build, but didn't have the tools (or the time) to install case fans in a specialty case (you need an Allen screwdriver, or a bendable screwdriver, or you'd need to partially break your case fans so that you can fit a regular driver). I swung by to have them installed. When I picked up the machine I started benching it. I was running into massive overheating and underperformance as well as a rattling noise: 1. All fans were set to exhaust. 2. Fans were only secured with two screws, on the same side (not diagonal from one another). 3. Cabling for the fans was bundled in front of the processor fan blade. 4. End result: 64°C processor idle, 2nd percentile of performance for my hardware. BIOS heat protection kicks in under light load: CPU breaks 100, and so does the GPU -- which is being starved of intake, as the fans directly opposite of the GPU are exhausting the air that the GPU wants to intake. Ultimately, I had to buy an iFixIt kit with a bendable driver, take the thing apart, and then do it myself. After nailing voltages and fan curves, I'm now idling a 13600K at 38C and benching at expectation on a quiet machine. That said, while this specific experience wasn't great -- the store itself is well stocked, and folks are generally on it. Bad luck this time, I suppose. read more

Came in with a Mac in need of repair. Repair desk was super rude, refused me service, and acted as if my Mac was stolen property because he couldn't find a serial number. The Apple Store literally recommended I visit and they made me feel stupid and refused any help. I'm literally missing work to try and fix my laptop and it's still broken. I biked in from Bushwick to Sunset Park to get turned away and treated like a moron. Screw the Micro genital center. read more
