CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE-- AVOID. Took iPhone in to get a simple repair of getting my charging port replaced. Told it would take 90 min and cost $140. 2 hours later, I call to see if it's ready for pick up and the guy tells me it's gonna be another $50 because he found something wrong with the "motherboard." NOTE: The phone was working great except for the charging port, which was unreliable, when I brought it in. Because the guy had me by the balls at that point, I told him to just fix whatever and get the phone back as soon as possible. Two or three hours later, he was finally finished. When I picked up the phone, it no longer worked at all! It kept turning on and off and the screen was completely distorted. When I confronted him, he started screaming at me and physically pushed me out of the store and locked the door and told me because I was not nice abt him breaking my $1000 phone, he will not help me. He told me to go ahead and call the police. His name is Ken. He is a violent, phony and untrustworthy criminal scammer. This is THE SINGLE WORST experience I have had at any business in NY in 30 years. read more

I repeat DO NOT GO HERE. Save you money, time, precious computer elsewhere. There are many more legitimate repair shops in the city. In May of 2018, I've taken my computer because I accidentally deleted my files and I needed to retrieve the two folders that got deleted...and these guys Re-Installed my WINDOW which is #1 rule that you should never do.. and ended up messing up my files and overrode all my files which got CORRUPTED. I've taken to 3 other shops in NYC and even called one of the shops in San Francisco to fix it and they were all DUMBFOUNDEAD and told me that they should've never installed new WINDOW OPERATING SYSTEM in the first place. you guys have fucked up my folders and computer and the funny thing is they've asked me for $250.00. When I got my computer back after like 2 months, all the folders were corrupted and I told them I wanted my money back. The guy yelled at me saying I worked hard on this and he insisted he will not give me money back. I moved on and I will tell all of my friends and peers to AVOID THIS PLACE. NOT ONLY THEY FUCKED UP MY COMPUTER BUT THEY TOOK $250.00 OUT OF MY POCKET AND in return I GOT CORRUPTED FILES that doesn't WORK. EVERYONE PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE they have no moral values and they are true scammers. Computer Answers - terrible experience phone call with computer answer that just happened - IT Services & Computer Repair Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I've never had a worse customer service experience than this place. In an attempt to support a local business I chose Computer Answers over a larger, corporate store. I brought in my Acer Laptop to have the screen and hinge replaced. Here are the big issues that I experienced at this shop. 1) I was told the job would be done in 3-5 days since they had to send out for parts. I did not hear any type of update for a week. I called to check in on their progress. Turns out they hadn't even begun work on the laptop or even sent out for the parts yet. Apparently they had a problem with their credit card system and didn't run the card number (which was written down and left out in the shop). If I hadn't called to check in no work would have been started. In addition, I was quoted a $150 deposit and then charged $180. 2) I received a phone call from the technician working on my laptop. And just to remind you, I only brought it in the have the screen and hinge replaced. The technician said he was seeing warnings that my hard drive was full and needed to be reconfigured. He was asking permission to wipe the hard drive to proceed with the work. I repeatedly told the tech, even when I dropped it off, DO NOT TOUCH THE HARD DRIVE! When I came to pick up the laptop I was told the hard drive was cleared and they had downloaded the latest windows update to my laptop. My business, life, everything was on my laptop. And now GONE. Thousands of dollars worth of work wiped. An attempt was made to recover the hard drive and an 80% discount was given. But the information that was lost is unforgivable. 3) After getting the laptop home a DVD, that I usually keep in the disc drive, was missing from the drive. Instead it was replaced with a disc that wasn't mine. It had someone's home movie files on it. I do not recommend this place. The work that was done to fix the screen and hinge was fine. But the amount of headache, lack of communication, and just negligence on their behalf are big reasons I would avoid this place. read more

The only walk in was at 58th street. I called 58th street Apple to inquire about the wait time, they hung up without speaking to me. What do I do? I walk to Computer Answers 4 blocks from me. I dragged in my ancient (2010!!) imac which has been working great all these years but the fan had started running intolerably loud. Because the machine is so old, the apple store and apple-certified repair shops wouldn't touch it (by policy, apparently) since the parts are no longer made. But this shop did a free assessment a few hours after I dropped it off, and then had it fixed and ready for me to pick up the next day. Con artists. Quoted me $250 on the phone to fix laptop screen LCD connection. Said they had to replace the whole monitor with a new one for $350. Ok. Fine. I told them I wanted to see my old one and they showed a cracked monitor and said "I cracked it taking it off". Ok. Unlikely. Also it had a huge Lenovo logo on the bottom that my old one didn't have. They lied to me. Terrible. UPDATE: They just called me twice telling me I had to remove this review. They told me I can bring the computer back, they will put on the old broken monitor and refund my money. They also called me "a fu**king a-hole". Great place to service your old MacBook Air for a fraction of the at Apple Store Prices (on Bedford Ave.) which some times you need to leave the computer for a few days even just to take a look inside and you have to deal with pretentious behaviors from some employees. I walked in to Computer Answers, spoke to Demetri, got an explanation of what the process would be. He followed up with a phone call and then with a quote for the repair and why, every clear and detailed (FYI better then my experience at Apple store and Mikes Hook-up, sorry Mike's) and got my computer the same day. These guys are cheats and rude! I repaired two of my iphones here. One had an issue with the finger touch unlock and the battery started swelling to the point that my phone cracked open a couple of weeks after the repair. My second phone's front camera stopped working after the repair. I went back after 2 weeks and told them about it. They refused to fix it saying why did you not come earlier! Its been only two weeks. I argued for 20 minutes and they wouldnt care to listen. I eventually gave in and agreed to pay once again to repair my phone. Guess what! the battery started swelling again! I went to another repair store who opened the phone and said the battery and screen were both fake, not only fake but dangerous to use since it could explode any minute. Stay away from this store! They overcharge you, they are rude and don't care to listen to a customer. They use fake parts to repair your phone and you will eventually have to go repair your phone again in less than a month! My high-end ASUS laptop features a 3D screen, which is rare, but need the feature for my work. It blacked out a year ago, and experts were hesitant to diagnose and only offered formidable estimates. These guys diagnosed the problem, found the right parts needed for this old and dated laptop, (2012), installed the parts, and fixed it for the original price they had quoted me, which was less than what other experts had estimated over the many months this was down. It was the second time I had used them and have had a successful experience in both cases, AND within the original estimate. The service was swift. Had problem starting my computer plus my battery life was bad and needed to back up on external hard drive. The technician Kane listened to what I was telling him was going on with my lap top. Then he asked questions he gave me a fair price to handle my problems. I choose to have an original battery. He went to work on my computer and it took a few hours to back up + new battery installation. Like always the computer now has no more problems and runs cooler and long battery hours. External hard drive everything I asked for done perfect. I have some small issues with my iPhone they are going to take care of that also. In the past I dropped my old I phone lost my camera they installed a new camera worked again like it was new. read more

So I don't like being the bearer of bad news and given the fact that this place has some solid ratings on Yelp, I bet it's a good place - perhaps I just had a bad experience but I won't be returning. My Galaxy S7 finally crapped out on me after my screen cracked so I looked for a place to have it repaired and so I came across this place. Got into the store to which a gentleman is streaming the Man United game (which I guess is bad enough as I'm an Arsenal fan lol) but was to himself and focused on the match until I asked for help. Anyways I noticed a lot of apple products so I wondered if this was more of a genius bar but he assured me they do androids as well. Told me data back up is 150, screen repair including getting the screen and labor would be more but at the very least they'd run a diagnostic on the phone and see what's needed. They mentioned a buy back program because the phone is solid minus the screen. Told me I'd get a call back within 3 days. So alright I leave my phone. Fast forward a week and a half later, no phone call I'm wondering where my phone is so I call the place myself. He says "Oh yeah forgot to call. Yeah we can't fix it - the screen is too specialized and we can't access the files because of the password lock. We don't have extra s7 screens either" Okay, fair, no issues if you can't access the data because of the password lock but how are you incapable of fixing the screen? Isn't that your job as a cell phone repairman? And, if that's the case then call me back at least to tell me what the deal is with my phone. That'd be the professional thing to do. I go and pick up my phone to which I am handed a phone and I walk out - turns out they gave me the wrong phone! Handed me back an s6 so I walk in kind of tight cause not only did u not fix my phone nor call to tell me that u cant fix it, you give me the wrong phone too? I wasn't even upset until some dude behind the register was joking about giving me the wrong phone and how lucky I am. Real professional, guy. I also see the store owner (I'm assuming) replies back and so just know that professionalism is important to clientele. I'd bet you have a good business as seen by other reviews here but my experience did not match that. read more

I brought in my Macbook Air because the headphone jack stopped working properly. While dropping it off to have it looked at, the tech took a phone call from another customer. The way he talked to this person on the phone, he sounded like a used car salesman. By that I mean he talked like someone who's constantly on the defense. Like a shyster. I should have listened to my instincts then. I won't bore you with the long-winded saga of everything that went wrong with my repair but it involved them ordering and installing the wrong logic board to fix the headphone jack (it all comes as one assembly), not testing it before they gave it back to me, then instead of offering to order/install the correct one - they offered to either re-solder my original logic board at a labor charge of $300(!) or just give me back my computer with the original logic board and a refund. There was no way I was paying $300 for what would be at most, an hour's worth of labor so I took the refund. When I finally got my refund (which involved me having to come back to the store twice because only the head tech was authorized to administer one), they charged ME a $50 labor fee for their install of the WRONG logic board. Totally unethical and many of the interactions were rife with poor communication, lack of attention to detail and outright disrespect. Do not give these people your money. read more

Installation went fine, but license apparently was temporary, and Microsoft started giving me warnings today that the product key is expiring. Initially they were going to "clean" the computer to see if that helped. It didn't work so they didn't charge me for the service, which was nice. They then suggested wiping the computer clean, (after backing everything up), then reinstalling Windows. And it worked!!! :) My computer runs faster than it has in years. Unfortunately for me, I had a horrendous experience with Computer Answers, Brooklyn, they are very laid back about their hours of operation while the rest of us have to stick to business hours but that's not the worse part. After patiently waiting for an expensive motherboard replacement to arrive, Patrick, while installing the motherboard, erased all the information on my computer hard drive! One month later and with a lot of help from friends and Carbonite (Thank God for Carbonite) I am still trying to get back to the point before entrusting my laptop to CA. A lot of my time has gone into data recovery. CA's boss Paul was no great help. A heads up, beware and be careful, these guys are not all geniuses by any stretch and can cause you a lot of aggravation. read more

EDIT Pavel's reply to my review below is a lie. I brought the unit back only a few weeks later, well within the warranty period. The technician at the store verified all of this. Pavel instead of insulting me on yelp, please give me a call. This place is a ripping me off. I brought in a Sonos Amp to be repaired. They quoted me $100 but then upped it to $220 after looking at it and assured me there was a 3 month warranty on all repairs. I reluctantly had them make the repair and told them it was barely worth it since the same unit goes for slightly more on eBay. Unfortunately I paid them after they claimed it was fixed and showed me it powered on. Red Flag #1 Sure enough, after I brought it home and used it for more than 10 min, it died and wouldn't power on anymore. Red Flag #2 I brought it back and they refused to give me a refund and now claim their warranty only gives store credit since they don't "take returns". This is ridiculous because I paid for a service they failed to fulfill and am not returning anything. After getting in a heated argument about how misleading their warranty policy is and how it wasn't clear that it was for store credit and not cash, I agreed to give them another shot. Red Flag#3 A few weeks go by and no update. I finally stopped in and they said I'd have to wait a few more weeks because the technician was out of the county so I argue to get a refund again and they refuse so I agree to wait. He finally gets back and I stop in again. They now tell me I need to pay over $100 more for additional capacitors. As we discussed this additional cost makes it not even worth repairing anymore. I again try and get my money back and get in another heated argument. The employee says I need to talk to his boss. He refuses to give me his number and says he "may call me on Monday if he feels like it". read more

The owner called me after my review and offered a full refund next time I came into the store and assured me he'd spoken to the people that had worked on the phone. I appreciated the call and offer of a refund but I wasn't planing on taking the refund because they paid for the screen and even though it took a long time it was eventually fixed. A few months later I needed another screen repaired and figured I'd give them another shot. The refund credit was still on my account so they applied it to the cost for the screen repair. This time I dropped it off on a Tuesday, they needed to order the screen because they only keep iPhone screens on hand. I figured it would be around 2 weeks before it would be done but they called me Friday to let me know it was ready. No issues when I picked it up this time, everything worked great. So while the first experience was far from ideal, they clearly will go out of their way to make things right and I'd have no problem recommending them. The only thing I would say is to be proactive in calling them if it's taking longer than you expect. read more

I love this place and had a great experience with Chris and John who were patient, helpful and hilarious the whole way through. When my computer stopped charging, they checked both the battery and charger. They were honest about both my charger and battery being in poor shape and sold me a new charger and ordered a new battery for me. Altogether they did it for $160 cash -- just the battery change at Apple is valued at 129 + 86 for a charger! PS: Apple also wouldn't even replace the battery bc the computer had water damage...they said they had to send it out. Chris at Computer Answers just opened up the laptop itself, gently cleaned up the oxidation, fixed a fuse for the screen backlight and put in the new battery. Computer is working great!!!!
