Cracked my iPhone 14 Pro screen and got it 'fixed' here. Lots of issues since-- when the screen gets dark, it gets a weird green tint. Lots of weird flickering, often the phone can't decide what brightness to be at and cycles through a bunch of brightness settings. I brought it back in and the guy said it's an issue with iPhone's new software update, not their screens. That is a crazy way to look at it :( He said he could put a new screen on it but it would have the same issues. (I do not know why my profile says I am in Sacramento. I live in Brooklyn, NY). Juan really put me at ease as soon as I walked in the door of iFixScreens in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Gregarious in nature, down to earth, fair, and knowledgeable, Juan is your go-to guy for phone screen repairs. I dropped my iPhone 11 on concrete on Superbowl Sunday. I was sitting down, and the distance was not far. The phone worked all night, but then after 12 hours it went kaputz--completely inaccessible by touch. Something internal was off. My iPhone 11 is a few years old and I am up for an upgrade in August. Initially, I went to the Apple website and read that it offers a do-it-yourself at-home repair rentals kit service for $49. So, people who have little to no background in the complexities of the technology are to do it at home. Apple rather have inexperienced "technicians" "repair" their broken phones rather than allow third-party skilled technicians do it. My blood boiled. I figured repairing the screen was a more frugal choice than buying myself out of my contract and getting a new phone. I searched for repair shops in my area and after vetting through reviews, decided on iFixScreens. Located 3 minutes from my apartment, I thought it was too good to be true. But then again, the Apple store is also a short walk from my apartment. Before I went to see Juan, I had brought my phone to Apple and their "genius bar." One of their technicians told me that for $200 they could replace the broken glass and maybe they would be able to salvage my photos (I hadn't backed up my photos in months, had been to Iceland and saw the Northern Lights, my goddaughter was born...I know, I know; I've since learned to constantly back things up). I walked out in tears. Then headed to iFixScreens. There, Juan informed me that he would be able to not only salvage my photos but also repair my phone for half the price Apple was charging. I also was given a Valentine's Day discount as it was the same week! Within 30 minutes, Juan fixed my phone. My heart rate stabilized, happy that I could communicate with the outside world again (oh, how we have become addicted to our phones), but more importantly, save my Northern Lights photos. Afterwards, Juan and I got to talking, and I expressed my frustration with the following thought. There is this discrepancy in which we believe that anything non-Apple related is inferior. Sure, we could go to third-party repair shops, but Apple warns us that these businesses use unauthorized parts, and that if we were to use them for services, Apple would no longer touch the product afterwards. The word "unauthorized" is triggering, right? We think of inferiority and the black market and illegal. Sure, Apple is strategic in its use of loaded language, ushering us to think this way, but informed people can make better choices. This is something conditioned in us in America, where we believe shiny, and new, and expensive are the sole ways for the products we buy. We need to change that conversation. Fortunately, there has been some progress in that regard. Juan turned his computer screen so I could see the page he pulled up off the internet. I read "Right to Repair" on the top of the screen. After years of debate, Apple will finally now provide independent repair shops with access to the same authorized, genuine iPhone parts, tools and manuals that it has formerly kept so out of reach. This law, the Right to Repair movement, supplies authorized parts to third-party shops who become verified service providers, a process that is free to sign up for on Apple's website. This is a huge stride for consumers; it ultimately dismantles the eliteness of Apple and its former mindset, and saves us money. Rest assured both in-warranty out-of warranty consumers; you no longer have to cough over $200+ to Apple to fix that small crack in your screen. I had my cracked iPhone 7 screen repaired by i Fix Screens on Broadway in Williamsburg, BK a few months ago. After the repair, the glass did not sit flush with the frame and had severe touch issues: pressure in one place would select sections of the screen on the other side. I brought it back in, they apologized, owned their mistake, and switched it out for another screen. However, it didn't solve the problem, but I decided to adjust my life to the bad screen. Starting about 1 month later, the bottom 1/8 of the screen began flickering nonstop and showing the top 1/8 of the screen. To be clear, whatever is showing on the top of the screen (battery, time, etc) flashes on and off on the bottom. When I came in to discuss this issue I was dismissed curtly and told that the window for addressing the issue had passed. They claimed that it wasn't their problem anymore. I regret going to an overpriced, second rate repair shop and not going directly to Apple. Please save yourselves the trouble and avoid this shop. read more

Do NOT come here. They put extremely inferior replacement screens. It's noticeable immediately as the screen is much thicker than the normal iPhone front glass--it rises beyond the edge of the phone. After I came here, my phone became almost unusable. My screen will sometimes just go black while I'm using it or on a call and the only way to get the screen visible again is to turn off the phone and turn it back on. They will not offer refunds either. read more

The worst experience my wife and I ever had. My wife entered the location to receive a quote on a broken I pad screen. The employee burped multiple times during his speech and said $100 which is overpriced from the start but we agreed.. He then lied in saying we need an extra piece for 30 dollars.. Then tax brought us up to 155 and then if you pay by card and not cash it's an extra 3.75%.. I get they want cash to cheat the government on their taxes at the end of the year but don't add 3.75% on top of a card transaction... But to the service I got today. I went in to see if they can fix my tablets charging port. I was willing to wait, and he was fast, and really nice. the girl in the front was really nice too. This is possibly my first and only ever YELP review. I was specifically asked to leave a good review, and had planned to before I took the screen protector off of my new screen to reveal a low-budget LCD screen with muted colors. I chose iFixScreens because they price matched local competitors. I was initially quoted $129 to replace the glass as I had a small nick on the bottom of my screen. This needed to be repaired to return my device to T-mobile for credit. I had found a competitor in Midtown East that replaced iPhone 8 screens with Original Equipment Manufacturer (genuine Apple) parts for quite a bit cheaper. The tech agreed to price match after looking at the site and reaching out to his manager. He replaced my screen with what I now understand is a low budget replacement screen and not an original part, which is what I was paying for. When I called the store today, the tech working gaslit me in order to make me feel like it was my fault that this happened. He offered to up-charge me for an OEM screen, which is what I paid for in the first place. As of right now the situation has not been rectified and I am still in possession of an iPhone with an off-brand screen, and have still not received what I paid for. At this point, all I want is a refund, as I would not trust this company with my phone again. read more

This place is not real life... I brought in an iPhone 6 that was missing its top left corner piece (you could see the chips inside/camera lens). I was told it would be about $125USD, but I would get a discount if I checked in via Yelp. I did not have the app on my phone, and he could tell by the look on my face I didn't really want to check in (and was willing to simply pay full price), but he gave me the discount anyways! I then purchased a tempered-glass screen protector, and he gave me basically 50% off, since I was already spending money repairing a phone. Discounts on discounts, just because? Of course, I'm going to rave about that. However, the service was also amazing. He was very communicative with how long it would take (literally 15 minutes) and how much everything would be up front. There's also a sofa with a cable-tv there, so, if you don't want to go anywhere else, you can chill out and wait for your phone! Beware False Advertising!! Bought a $69 groupon for my Note 4 broken screen repair which stated that i would be able to get my phone fixed within 30 minutes. Called the day before to confirm whether the store had the inventory to repair my phone and was told everything was there. When i went inside the store i was told that the groupon was only valid for a repair with a 2 day turn around - if i wanted to get the phone repaired in 30 minutes (as advertised on the groupon) i would have to pay double the price (129$). I just decided to take my phone to Samsung and elected to pay an additional $20 from what i was to pay here to get my phone repaired (for $149) in just 2 hours. I stopped by to check it out. Colin was there and greeted me right away. He answered all my questions. The price here was cheaper than the other place I was looking at. The store itself was nice and clean. They have a tv to entertain you while you wait. They also have water if you are thirsty. You likely have to review before you leave to get the discount, which would severely influence the type of review you might leave. I did notice a few purple spots on my screen a couple weeks after they replaced it, but I just walked back in and they swapped it for a fresh one in 5 minutes. I was very excited to have my iPad Air screen fixed, they were very nice. Unfortunately I went back at the end of the day to pick it up, and noticed that the screen shut off (3 year old running circles around me) and so I said why is it doing this? I was told that it was the new upgrade that recognizes if it's held up or not. I found that so strange, I was trying to show the employee and he just handed me my bill. Here I was confused and trying to juggle my child. I left being that it was the end of the day and figure I was just seeing things. Nope!! went home and realized that my IPad now won't stay on. Honestly do not waste your time/money bringing your phone here. I came here because Apple did not have any available appointments for a couple of days and I wanted my screen fixed ASAP. I dropped my phone off around 4:30pm on a Sunday. I was told it was going to take an hour to fix so I left and came back at 7pm and I did not leave until 930pm ! The screen was replaced, however, the touch ID was not working anymore. The tech tried to fix and then tells me he ended up breaking the home button!! They basically told me if I didn't want to get charged for the new screen (even though they broke my phone), they would have to put the cracked screen back on. I ended up leaving with my cracked screen and a broken home button. Don't go here - Apple charges you the same thing to fix your phone and they know what they are doing. read more
