Brought in a laptop for service and explained what I was looking to do: inserting updated RAM chips which I brought along. $50 and 15-20 min later, system was back up and running. One of the techs explained an issue with my primary drive, explained how it related to system performance, etc. If I wasn't in a rush on a project, I would have left it. I used to patronize this place at their UES location, and was always very happy with the fact that they come across as very 'up front' about what they can or cannot do, what the charges will be etc. (Honestly, I've found that many other computer repair places are sorta shifty, or they often overstate their capabilities, and then try to overcharge you, even after they weren't able to solve your issue, but still want you to pay for their time). I've never gotten anything like that from NY Computer Help. So when I once again needed some help with my PC, I went to their new, Midtown location. I was a bit unsure, at first... "Is this really the same business (as the NY Computer Help place that I used to patronize, in the UES)?", I wondered. "Can I expect the same level of service...no sleazy stuff?" And I was happy to see that, indeed, all seemed to be the same. However, just a mere three months later, my PC was once again having the exact same issue that they were supposed to have fixed. I thought it odd, that I was having the same problem, again, and so soon. So while I DID bring my PC back to them, at the same time my 'scam' radar was already on, with me thinking 'oh, I bet they'll say that something entirely different is causing my issue this time...that I need a new such and such part...and that it will cost X number of dollars' (and that I'd have no way to prove, if in fact, the current problem with my PC was related to the prior repair they did, just 3 months ago...) Well, once again, NY Computer Help came thru for me, and with total transparency. They determined that indeed, the new part they installed three months ago...that it seemed to have failed far sooner than it should have, and so they installed a totally new replacement part, for no charge. This is why I will continue to go to NY Computer Help for all my PC repair needs. In a city full of PC repair places that are well....questionable.... Doesn't seem to be detail oriented. I initially filed a ticket and specified that the issue is that when you turn on the PC. it would say "CPU fain detect failure" and the computer would shut down in less than 10 minutes. I mentioned that it is a strictly hardware issue. Then, I dropped off the desktop PC. Few days later, they contact me saying that there are no issues with the fan, and they would need my password to access the computer to run the stress test. I had to call them to clarify on the issue, and the owner was very stand-off ish, saying "what part of the diagnosis wasn't clear? the fan is working, and we would need your password to run the stress test." I told them I would stop by to help reproduce the issue and set up a guest account so they can run the stress test without having access to my primary account. I came by again, and asked them to bring my desktop PC. as soon as I turn on the PC. the screen says "CPU fan detect failure", and the technician guys watching me then said "ah ok. now we know what the issue is", despite me initially telling them that was the issue to begin with. Then as I was in the process of setting up the secondary account, the PC shut down, and only then they agreed it is a hardware issue and they would need to order a new liquid cooling part. My interaction with them gives me the impression that they don't really take the time to investigate the issue and are quite dismissive when you inquire about their diagnosis. I appreciated his sincerity and the way he takes responsibility for his work. During the conversation, he also provided helpful and professional advice regarding my other tech-related concerns. Overall, I felt that he genuinely cares about both the service he provides and the people he helps. Because of this follow-up and support, I am revising my overall experience to a 4-star review. I also hope the company's culture continues to reflect this level of care and professionalism and continues to support both customers and staff. --------------------------------------- Previous review -I brought my MSI laptop to this shop for a lid repair. At the time, there was a small crack on the left side near the hinge, and I was worried it might get worse , but the screen bezel was intact. I was initially told that once the part arrived, they would notify me to bring in the laptop, and the repair would then take about a full day. The part arrived on December 30, 2025, I dropped off the laptop on January 6, and picked it up on January 9. -After I got home, I turned on the webcam to prepare for a meeting, and noticed that the screen displayed a blue image. I contacted the shop immediately. I was asked to bring the laptop back for further inspection, but no explanation was provided regarding the possible cause of the issue. -Since the shop is about an hour away, I asked whether a remote diagnosis could be done first to better understand the situation. I was informed that there would be a charge for that service. At the same time, I looked into common causes of this issue and found that it can result from a protective film not being removed during repair. However, this possibility was not discussed. -If a likely cause had been communicated, it would have helped me better understand whether an immediate return visit was necessary. Without that information, the situation was unclear and required additional time and travel to resolve. -More recently, about four months after the repair, I noticed that the bezel near the hinge has cracked, even though I have been handling the laptop carefully. This area was not damaged prior to the repair. Given that the hinge area is a high-stress point, I am concerned that the repair or reassembly may have contributed to this issue. Overall, my experience was disappointing. While the initial interaction felt welcoming, it was followed by a noticeably self-protective approach when issues arose. Although the repair was completed, I encountered additional problems afterward that required significant time and effort to resolve. Based on this experience, I strongly recommend that others ask detailed questions about the repair process, confirm what testing will be performed, and ensure the device is thoroughly checked at the shop before taking it home. Can I say this is the best customer service experience I have had in New York City, after living here many years? First: easy of booking an appointment. I wanted to get my laptop checked out and were able to find availabilities the next day. The online booking system was easy to use. Second: flexibility. I wasn't able to come in at the scheduled time, so called in to see if I can move my appointment to a bit later. The staff on the phone was very understanding and he said it should be no issues at all. Third: knowledge and professionalism. I researched this service thoroughly to make sure they're legit, and they very much are. I sent in 2 drives for data recovery, and they only took several days to dissect and back everything up! The price was very very high as one of the drives had to be literally taken apart at a lab, but that is common for this service no matter where you go. I needed to fix my computer and didn't know where to fix it other than New York Computer Help! They handle the whole process smoothly without complications. They first received my computer on Sunday and diagnosed the problem and messaged me the price options I can go with and problems I have with my computer. First option was to pay $350 or go with the second option of paying $200 when opting into their $15 a month full computer membership warranty. I don't have that many computers so I chose the first option at $350 to get my laptop monitor replaced. They took my credit card information on the phone and needless to say the computer was fixed and ready for pickup less than a week. I received an email from them at 2pm that the computer was ready for pickup on Thursday. Good thing they close at 6pm so when I got there around 5pm, they took my computer out of a box from their shelf. I examined it and the screen was in perfect condition like brand new! There are no scratches and looks exceptionally clean! I didn't bring my laptop case so then they offered a free sleeve or a tote bag for me to place my laptop in. Good thing it fits! read more

Excellent service. Helped me replace the speakers on my old MacBook Pro. Saved me over a thousand dollars instead of buying a new one! Very reasonable price and even offered courier service both ways to pick up and return my lap top for only $25. They do a free diagnostic instead of asking for a down payment like U Break I Fix which has become very shady since they quoted me a lower price then a worker reneged and wouldn't give the $50 deposit back saying it cost more even though a different worker said I would get it back. The place is close enough to my home and easy enough to get to. The workers are very friendly and knowledgeable. They gave me free advice on how to avoid problems in the future and were nice to talk to. They seem like honest, down to earth, friendly, knowledgeable people. I was very happy to find them. My computer died in the country and went to 2 shops who did nothing. I then found computer help when returning to NYC Saturday. Extremely professional gave me a very reasonable estimate and quickly solved my problem. I also signed up for $15 a month to cover software and parts only for future repairs as needed for my two computer systems. A GREAT DEAL -they are knowledgable and honest. I cannot too strongly recommend them and hope they get a 4.9 rating (not just 4.8!) PS When leaving I said to a customer walking in "They are Great" His response: "I Know". I don't usually write reviews, and I am doing so on behalf of my son who recently bought in an expensive Corsair computer that was having issues, whilst this computer has not yet been fixed and is still in the process , I cannot say anything but absolute praise for the way this has been handled , they have been in constant contact with him the entire way , and even had him come in to the shop and play on the computer as nothing came up as showing faulty on their stress test , once the fault was discovered , they kept it for further inspection and are doing whatever they can to see what the precise issue is. I am aware that this computer has a specific issue as one of my main issues prior to bringing it in was that the fault was difficult to detect as I had some other IT people look at it who couldn't detect any issues. They could have done things so differently and they didn't (in a positive way) , so as someone that also runs a business in NY , and one that I try to also go above and beyond for my clients, all I can say is that these people run an extremely honest and professional operation and I can solemnly say that if you ever need an honest and professional place to deal with your computer, look no further as this is the place to go to and I too will be using them and recommending them for all of our business needs. Helpful and honest! I had an emergency/ rush job as my laptop was not accepting a charge and all my work was on that computer. I really didn't know what the issue was and essentially was willing to believe anything to get it fixed and pay whatever it cost. I was bracing for several hundred dollars. After about 30 minutes or so, I was informed that it was simply the wrong cord and a new one would be between $60-$80... I splurged and went for the $80 option. I asked what I owed for the diognosis and they told me it was included. I was stunned and refreshed by their honesty and so far so good, my laptop is taking a charge and keeping its charge.
