I reached out to Brooklyn PC clinic because I had tried to swap out a motherboard on my seven-year-old PC -- only got so far -- I had failed to do it. I was unclear how to wire it and it was just out of my wheelhouse. Mike had replied to me that he thinks he could take care of the job. We met up and Mike was tremendous -- he was very helpful, respectful, patient and calm -- I **immediately** had a good feeling about him. This review is based off the fact that I didn't actually go to Mike, so take this how you will. I was building a custom pc for the first time since 2000ish. I was having a hard time getting to the post/bios page so after getting so frustrated, I scheduled a time with Mike. He called me on the phone, told me straight-up what he would do (which were the same things I was thinking) and after letting me pick his brain a few minutes, I was able to get my pc working. Consistently reliable and responsive. I have been using Brooklyn PC Clinic for more than 10 years, on a referral from a friend who was using them. They respond quickly to phone calls/SMS and emails and are on the case within 24 hours, if not the same day. They make recommendations for upgrades and re-configurations that will increase network reliability and speed and can work within budget constraints. Fees are reasonable and they do not nickel and dime you to death for every second spent on the job. They can help source and purchase hardware and software with no markup, then install and trouble shoot, either by phone or in your home. They have talked me out of buying a new computer more than once and were able to make the one I own run 10x better for a third the cost. Happy. read more

After a liquid spill I was told by that chain repair shop on Court, that the motherboard was fried and that they weren't able to get my data off the SSD. I picked up my laptop with the SSD taped to the top and went and bought a new laptop. I decided to see if I could replace the motherboard as I really liked my old laptop so decided to take it to PC Clinic. (I was worried about my data but decided to take a chance.) Mike told me they'd have a look and if it needed a motherboard they would find the right one and call me with an estimate. Two days later Mike called and told me that they were able to clean the motherboard and that it was working again Also the original SSD was still in the PC so had no idea what drive was taped to it. So two takeaways - PC Clinic will really look at how best to get you up and running and don't bother with that chain because they either don't know or don't care. They fixed my computer in two days! Super flexible schedule, prices are very reasonable. I spilled ginger ale in my computer (I know lol) and they were able to calm me down and run diagnostics on it. They did this without even charging me a deposit, which was very nice (and I don't think that's the normal policy - I wasn't able to meet in person due to scheduling). Recently, my 8+ year old MacBook Pro stopped booting up. I called up Apple and they said my hard drive was corrupted and I need to do a hard reboot. This would wipe out all my files. Since I haven't backed up my files in a while, I call up Brooklyn PC Clinic (Mike) to see if he could help. After an initial consultation, Mike clearly explained what the potential issue is and how he will try to fix it. He said my hard drive was prob busted and he will try to save any files from my computer. It sounded like a long shot. After dropping off my laptop with Mike, he was very good updating me throughout the process. At the end, he was able to painstakingly save close to all my files, which was amazing!! I called on behalf of our nonprofit, which collectively had a panic attack when it appeared that our shared drive of virtually all of our work had magically disappeared. After calling 5 or 6 other providers who didn't answer their phones, I called Brooklyn PC Clinic. When our WiFi went down for the umpteenth time, though we are an Apple household and he seems to specialize in PCs, I reached out to Mike Jonas, He was quickly responsive. Then the WiFi went back up. So I held off, until the next time it crashed for no apparent reason and my young adult children were out for blood. He was again very responsive. He proposed coming over to install a series of high-end Eero mesh bases, for $500 plus labor. I found them on Amazon for $400 and had them the next day. He was fine with that. Came over and set them up so now we have a fully functional WiFi network. Charged $150 for labor, as he said he would from the outset. He was professional and efficient and very nice. I contact Brooklyn PC fix and I was referred to two technicians by the name of Lenny and Martinez both were angry at me for fix a fairly simple issue and refused to work with me from then on citing that they did not have the time and they didn't offer free advice even though I was told that I can buy parts and call them to install it and pay for the labor but they both refused to work me and I would very wary if you are referred to them because they don't seem the trustworthy type. read more

For many months my computer had been causing me unending problems, especially my internet connection. Every time I sat down to do work on my computer my stomach would tighten up and the stress would build. How I stopped myself from hurling it out the window is a miracle in itself. Finally, I called Mike. Within a half hour he had my computer running better than it had been since I purchased it. My connection is strong and it is much faster. Excellent professional service from beginning to end. Michael is reliable, patient, optimistic and honest. He walked me through the possible outcomes of the data recovery attempt from beginning to end. While he was able to recover part of the data, I really needed all of the files, so he helped put me in touch with Kroll OnTrack Data Recovery Lab, stayed in the email communication between me and Kroll and boxed and sent them the HD. (See my review for Kroll on their link). Michael could have easily said, "See ya. Not my problem" and left me to figure it out, but he didn't. Kroll eventually got all of the data files I needed and I was relieved that I did not have to worry about finding a trustworthy lab. With that, I highly recommend Michael. read more

Save your sanity! Call Mike! I travel a bit and printing out online bills keeps me current with my accounts when I am not at home to receive the bill in the mail. Computer problems frustrate me and suck up time -- in this case, computer and printer -- problems. After several virus infections on my computer, it became impossible to print out return labels, or utility statements. I called several computer repair services and one -- which specialized in Apple products -- recommended Mike. It was not possible for me to bring the computer to him. I am located relatively close to his office, so he made a home service call. Within an hour it appeared as if the problem was solved...but not quite. He took my Dell laptop computer to his office to do further work on it and returned it the next day in excellent working order. He was a pleasure to work with, he was available quickly, and his fee was very reasonable. I plan to upgrade my system in the future and will definitely call Mike for recommendations and to set up the system for me. read more
