Wow this was an incredible experience. I worked with an associated named George earlier this month to help me transfer files off of a 10 year old macbook pro. The battery was having issues a few years ago and I needed to get my important documents including photos and music off of the hard drive. We came in on a busy weekday afternoon, and he patiently explained all of the next steps, clearly laid out costs (no 'gotchas' here) and painstakingly tried multiple times to get my poor old hard drive to boot up. When the transfer successfully began, he wrote up a receipt, and told me to expect a phone call the next day with an update on the status of my transfer. The next day, I got that phone call right on time, and then another phone call a few hours later to let me know the transfer had completed. I came by that same evening, and he showed me the successful transfer, and sent me home with my info all backed up onto a new hard drive. I'm so thankful to him for helping me recover the files and do it in such a kind & professional manner. I would wholeheartly recommend getting technical repairs done at this Microcenter. read more

SUPER UNDERSTAFFED, they let in 100 customers but only have so very few employees working at each station. And by so very few I mean 2 employees. Had waited for more than 30 minutes trying to get a hold of any employee I saw. I have all the patience in the world but what I do not have is all the time in the world. I now come here for the majority of my electronics purchases. For the items that I've purchased (TV, Printer, Gaming Laptop) I haven't found a better price--though their price matching program would have covered the spread. So far the staff on the floor have been helpful and informative, and the return policies have been pain free. Super happy that they've come into this area because so far I've gotten great deals and superb service. read more

I went there to fix my disk top. Two days later I went there to get my disk top and find out that my screen was broken. They broke it and refused to change my screen. I asked for the manger and asked him to give me back my screen and that the screen on my disk top is broken and it may not be my screen. I'll sue them. Ive been to this place before and purchased several devices from them. That said this review is in response to their "Apple affiliated Knowledge bar". Over the holiday weekend my iphone 11 screen went all glitchy. There was no shatter or crack and no signs of water damage. I honestly am not sure what exactly happened to the phone but it was incased in a bumper case and glass screen protector. After taking it to Tmobile, they told me it was out of warranty and I needed to go to Apple, Although after inspection there was NO water damage. So i go online and book an appointment. I was surprised to see Micro Center listed as an Apple approved place to go for service but pleased I could go somewhere close to home, although I did have to wait several days for the appointment. When I arrived the gentleman at the counter before even looking at or touching my phone, goes into a well rehearsed monologue about how, while yes they are Apple approved, they most likely dont have the parts I would need and they are unable to do what I need on site and the item would most likely need to be sent out. I reminded him that he didnt even look at my phone and he goes "oh yeah, let me see, this is an 11? Ok we may have the parts. Let me get our Apple expert, Elvis." Elvis comes out from the back with the personality of a can of baked beans and continues the monologue started by the first guy, telling me the phone has water damage. He can tell by the glitched pattern on the screen, although he still has not removed the SIM to look inside. He tells me I need to pay them $400 and have the phone sent into Apple for review and replacement. He told me they COULD NOT REPLACE THE SCREEN that the SCREEN WAS IRREPLACEABLE. I could tell by the screenplay way they spoke to me, looking at the ground, barely looking at my device or me, that I needed to make an exit with my phone. Thanks for the non existent service chaps. After waiting several days to receive this ridiculous attempt at "service" with no concern to try and help me salvage the information on my device or what I actually came to them for I decided to go to PhonePC Inc. (646) 662-3557.. I remembered that I had been here a few years ago with an older phone. The shopkeeper is a really nice guy. He looked at the phone and agreed there was absolutely ZERO water damage and that he would replace the screen to come back in an hour. I came back in an hour to my brand new screen, he charged me $100 and included a new glass film. SO SATISSFYING!!!! EAT DIRT ELVIS!!! Dont bother with Micro Center for such issues. Especially if you dont want to have to turn in and wipe your phone. read more

My girlfriend and I had a very bad experience at this store. We would like to build our own PC so we asked a "professional" staff here to help us pick the different PC parts. However, the next day, we received a text message saying that the size of the cooling fans that the staff picked for us does not fit into the case. So we have to take an hour and half subway to come to the store and choose another one. Interesting, Dallas, the technician who equips our PC, is taking a day off. Even though there are other technicians available, only he is allowed to put our computer together so we have to wait for another day. The worst part that makes me so angry is that we can't pick our PC because The guy in the "Knowledge Bar" named Michael A. told us that we need a PHYSICAL ID. When we build our PC on the very first day, NO ONE told us that we need a PHYSICAL ID to pick our PC up and we also didn't receive the confirmation email. Despite that, Michael is very rude because he believes that we are trying to "break" the rule. I am not sure if his impolite attitude is due to our skin color but I am extremely upset because of his tone. I asked the staffs in "build your own PC" area and they had no ideas about the physical ID. There is definitely a communication gap between different staffs there and the overall experience is extremely bad. read more

Needed help with a new 3D printer. Spoke to one attendant who unfortunately was not that knowledgeable. It wasn't his fault but I would've appreciated if someone else was called over to speak to me. Instead attendants were huddled to one group and offered no help. I had to go to someone who appeared more of senior who said he would have someone help me. No one came after I waited. I came in yesterday to buy a cheap HP that I saw online for my mom. While I was talking to my salesmen Rogers Jimenez, I noticed a Dell display model that was for sale that was only $20 more and it was a thousand times better machine. After talking to Rogers and calling a few of my friends I ended up buying the Dell. I really like Micro Center because the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and I didn't feel pressured at all to buy the more expensive computer. The return and exchange policy is the same for all the items regardless of if it's a new, refurbished or display. Other pluses include as other people have said are huge parking lot, very clean public restrooms, and most importantly for me free coffee LOL. I'm very happy with my purchase and will definitely use Micro Center for all my computer needs. read more

I went into Apple to check what was wrong with my computer and because it's a "vintage computer" (MacBook Pro 2012) it would cost me $279 to fix. I came to Micro Center expecting to fork over close to that amount only to have my computer looked at and repaired for $60. The staff however, is where all the stars go to. They sat with me explained what was wrong and worked hard to find the solution. Even after getting my money and handing me back my computer the manager came over to make sure I understood what to do from now on. He gave me suggestions on what to do with my computer to stop further damage etc. I hate that this place is behind God's back on the other side of Brooklyn, but I know from now on this is where I'll go for my electronics. For 7 plus months they couldnt get my t.v fixed and I paid 200 bucks for this insurance policy. I will never by an insurance plan from microcenter. I can barely use my t.v for 7 plus months and they sent a technician twice to try to fix it. Dont bother buying a warranty it's a joke and it takes forever to do anything. I'm still waiting on a fix for this. Will never buy anything from this store again. It was such a horrible experience. The employees are kind and professional. Let me start by saying that I travel from Staten Island to Brooklyn to get to this store. I have an option of a big box electronic store on Staten Island but I DO NOT go there because of their customer service. Micro Center has excellent customer service. They are very helpful, knowledgeable, and never disappoint. I have been here to make major electronic purchases a handful of times and the associates in this store are well trained. My husband is very technical and I'm not. The associates are able to explain technical things to me without talking down to me or overwhelming me with too much techie talk. And they are able to keep up with my husband without missing a beat. Specifically, Josh sold us a MacBook Pro recently and he was excellent. He introduced himself, shook our hands, and asked our names. Very impressive! Keep up the great work Josh and Micro Center!! read more

Staff that lie to customers (Staff stated policy of price matching, and when brought a price from a reputable source denied the price match). The store is one of the most poorly run retail experiences I have the misfortune to experience. I would highly recommend making purchases at B&H or even Best Buy rather than shipping here. read more

This place is excellent! They not only have such a variety of computers and all kinds of accessories, but they also have such a knowledgeable staff - who are all so friendly and easy to talk to if you have any questions. They also offer computer repairs. For example, I once brought an external hard drive here when I thought it was practically hopeless. But this staff was able to get all my data and put it on another external hard drive. Service was quick, and reasonably priced (considering what computer repair prices usually go for). I can't say enough good things about this place. read more

I desperately needed the recall keyboard fix for my MacBook Pro so I could work tomorrow. I called the local number you see there (the 347 one), described the exact issue, and was told to "leave now and we can fix it while you wait." So I dropped everything and jumped in an Uber. Once I got there, the Knowledge Bar staff was like "What? No, we don't have the parts and it will be 3-5 days." They said maybe someone at a CALL CENTER told me that. $25 in transportation for nothing! The Knowledge Bar guy was very sympathetic, but I'm pissed! Just be aware that you should insist on speaking to AN ACTUAL PERSON IN THE STORE AT THE KNOWLEDGE BAR before making a repair trip. First and last time ever going here. read more

Needed an SSD drive on a Saturday so BH Photo was out. Figured I'd take the train out to Brooklyn to get one from this place rather than wait a day. Read the review about rude inattentive staff and figured maybe that guy was just unlucky. Wish I'd paid attention - could have saved myself a trip. This is one of those places where if you need anything behind glass, you have to find a member of staff. If they're all busy with other customers, you have to wait. Fair enough. I found the drive I wanted in a locked display case so set about waiting for help. There were two staff members right there, speculating as to what might be wrong with a guy's cooling fan. I don't know why they needed two members of staff for that, but I waited patiently for 10 minutes. You would think one of them would notice and help me, but no I was invisible. Eventually after much waiting one of the guys asked me what I needed. I told him, and he said "sure, just let me get the key." And you know what? He just walked right over to the fan debate he'd been taking part in and shoehorned himself right back into it, forgetting about me. Before you know it I was right back to square one - an invisible customer with cash burning a hole in his pocket. I walked straight out, I was that annoyed and offended. Took a.50min subway ride out to Brooklyn to be ignored. I am so sick of this rudeness from shop staff these days and tbh this is why most of these places are going out of business. Think I'll just order online from now on - I certainly won't be wasting any more Saturdays coming out to this place. read more

I had never been to a Micro Center before my visit 5 days ago. I always heard it was PC building paradise and was pleasantly surprised by the stock in the store. I was searching for a specific RTX2080 TI, the XC ULTRA model which fits my NCASE M1 perfectly. The only one available locally that I could pick up was an openbox item at Micro Center. I waited for the BYOPC rep to get the card ready at the front of the store. I asked the cashier if I could open the box to inspect the card for damage which he allowed. Everything checked out, the card had no damage and displayed "EVGA RTX 2080 TI" on the cooler in big bold letters. Kevin D. should be able to confirm this. I do realize the perils that come with buying openbox items but truly did not expect what I got. I took the card home, replaced my aged 390x, purged the AMD drivers, and installed the Nvidia drivers and EVGA's Precision X1. I started up fur mark to ensure the card would not artifact at a decent load and was satisfied with the result. I primarily use my desktop as a workstation, I work as a System Administrator and primarily deal with cloud platforms, Linux, and Windows servers all day. My point is that gaming is secondary to me but I wanted the best card there was, the 2080 Ti. Two nights ago I finally decided to try bench-marking the card and it wasn't until I reached the final steps in 3DMark where I can compare the cards results with others that I noticed the "Ti" was missing from the model. I was shocked but I confirmed that it was not a "Ti" model in both the Nvidia Control Panel and GPUz. The next day after work I returned to the store with my.. problem. The customer service rep examined the card and asked me to bring it to the knowledge bar. I waited around 20 minutes to be seen and then another 20 minutes for the card to be put on a test bench and my issue confirmed. After it was confirmed a manager or supervisor named "Sam" came to greet me and confirmed the issue. He said I would receive a full refund and that if I still wanted a 2080 TI he would mark down one to the price I paid originally. We walked together back to customer service where the rep brought up two things: 1) The card's "service tag" was missing meaning the manufacturer warranty was void. 2) The card had been returned to the store 3 times. I was refunded my money and walked to the back of the store to BYOPC. The knowledgeable rep, Danny, assisted me in finding a 2080 in stock that fit the dimensions of my case. I head back to customer service with Danny to purchase the card. Sam is called back to customer service to price down the card. It was at this moment where the "Retail Sales Manager" Johnathan Tenzer comes into the situation with what I'm guessing is little prior knowledge and a hunch. As I'm inserting my credit card into the receiver he begins to ask me pointed questions, "Ya know, I gotta ask. What made you wait 4 days to bring it back?", he asked. I started to answer the questions but he would press further and say things like "A graphics card like that I would have benchmarked it as soon as I got home". As I said, this is a workstation I am typing from, gaming and benchmarking isn't exactly my thing, I just wanted a card that could drive my ultra-wide at a reasonable framerate. After a few of his questions I told him, "Look, it wasn't me." and he responds by saying "I didn't say anything." With my purchase completed I begin to walk away from him and rest, thanking everyone else involved. Before leaving I caught up with Sam and John to ask for John's name, he offered me his business card. I did not like the accusatory line of questioning by Mr. Tenzer. I live a few miles away and had paid $25 per uber trip to visit this Micro Center. It seems that they have a relaxed policy on testing and inspecting openbox items. In trying to get a good deal on an openbox item from a store with a good reputation I lost more than the deal was worth on travel and time wasted, so beware openbox purchases as always. read more

After 24 hours I took it to return it, from the knowledge bar to customer Srvs to the manager end up to the supervisor all trying to convince me that's a new laptop, I prove it to them it's a used machine they tried to push me to replace the laptop for a new one. This review is not on any of their products, but their... customer service? I don't even know what to call it. Yesterday I was on the line for 3 hours before they opened to catch a graphics card. Which I ended up not getting, because last minute these teenagers up ahead of us decided to call their friends to come over. Went from 14 people ahead of us to 25... Which microcenter did not do anything about after people complained. They should make a new system if they know this is becoming an issue, because it is not fair for the people who have been waiting for so long out in the cold. The BIGGER issue I have with them is, when it was finally our turn to get into the store, someone that looked like the manager there that was dressed in a suit (3/19/2021 around 10:00am) said, "You know it's only one per household right?" Asked to check me and my friend's ID AGAIN to look at our last names. My friend and I are both Asian-American. I honestly was too exhausted at that point to say anything, but mostly because I was in shock. I needed to write this review to voice out, because I did not in person. Terribale, terrible, Terrible service and experience . I asked for assistance on a printer over 3 times with 3 different employees and not one showed me any assistance, just to tell me that someone will be with me shortly. It took me over 45min for someone to finally speak with and after 2min of talking with me he got diverted on another customer. As I got to the register to pay 4 people on line me being 2nd on line, 2 registers open took over 15 minutes, the pinter I purchased was on sale meanwhile their systems were not up to date took an additional 10 minutes for processing. I've built computers, circuits, and am an avid electronic enthusiast. I usually shop at Newegg for computer related products, but waiting for stuff the ship can be painful sometimes. I used to shop at Radioshack for electronic circuit components, which for a long time was all the store was good for, but since that was phased out, I've been waiting for Radioshack to finally go out of business so worthier electronics store can move in. Best Buy and the extinct Circuit City were the most accessible places to shop, but the prices and selection could not compare to Newegg. And then I heard about Microcenter. Microcenter has EVERYTHING consumer electronic related. Need a computer case are a video card? Microcenter. Building an amplifer for you guitar and need some capacitor and a breadboard to test your circuit? Microcenter. Want to try a 3D Printer? Microcenter. Looking for a new 240Hz TV? Microcenter. A 32GB flash drive for under 20 bucks? Microcenter. I bought a (shitty) 7" tablet and a 32GB flash drive for 40 dollars. US dollars. There was an in-store promotion for a $20 tablet and I jumped on it. Amazing. It's an entire huge, Walmart/Costco-sized electronics store. This is the store I've dreamed of. It's pretty much a local Newegg, which is all I've ever wanted. Best electronic store I've been to. I love electronics and this is like Disney World for me. 10 thousand stars. A million stars. All of the stars. Edit (10/21/16): look at the date at this review and Google when Radioshack started closing stores. I am goddamn Nostradamus. I bought like $300 worth of discounted Arduinos. But now they have then back at stupid prices so go buy them at Microcenter. read more

This is going to be as in depth as i can make it: My dad bought a brand new computer from this place last summer. After going through a bit of a situation to get his old info (from his old computer) put on this new one, everything was great. But then, apparently, the computer started messing up (shutting down randomly) so my dad decided to take it back to the store because it was still under warranty, since you know, it's been less than a year... The computer went back to the store and the tech people there (who aren't very personable to begin with) didn't really have a reason as to why it wasn't working. They just said that they would replace the HD with a new one. Now this who situation was to be free of charge, because it was under warranty. Fair enough. However, it took about 2 weeks to get this HD replaced, which apparently constituted a bunch of phone calls back and forth that really had no information as to what the progress was and why it was taking so long. In fact, the 2 weeks is at least one week longer than this whole thing should have taken, and a lot longer than they SAID it would. While the computer was a good price, how good of a price could it be if my dad's HD straight up "failed" less than a year after using it regularly? These are just things to consider. The store is really big and they have a great selection and great prices but I'm still a bit iffy on the quality. read more

Was pretty bummed about this place. Knowing I would get ignored or ignorant and apathetic sales people at a big box store (always the case) I saw that Micro Center got great reviews & decided to try it despite not being able to get there by subway. I went looking for a Roku. When I walked in, a guy immediately asked if I needed help - which is at least a huge improvement over these big box stores where you can wander around aimlessly for hours with no one ever approaching you. I asked about the Roku and he brought me to the stick, telling me it was the latest. I warned him I was completely technically challenged and I needed something very easy. He assured me you just plug it in and go. He never once mentioned a Roku box - and I didn't know if they were still in existence. So I bought the stick. Five hours later, after 2 hours on customer service support, the Roku stick simply does not work - it either freezes, or it can't find a signal, or it inexplicably shuts down & you have to reset it. It takes FOREVER to reset. My guess is that you have to have a modem that is within feet of the stick for this thing to work well. I returned it the next day - along with the $100 antennae I bought, which I hadn't opened yet. I was concerned that if that didn't work too, I'd have to make the somewhat arduous bike ride back to the store. I returned the devices and mentioned to the guy I was returning things to that perhaps I should get a smart TV and forget all of these devices. He looked at me blankly - like I was speaking another language. Perhaps he's just 'return guy' and not 'sell guy' but he clearly had no interest in encouraging a customer who had just expressed interest in dropping $700 or more in the store. Right then I figured I'd just leave but since another employee happened to walk by me, I flagged him down and explained the issues with Roku - and whether I should try the box, go for another streaming device, or just throw in the towel and drop the money for a TV. To his credit, he showed me around, explained the box, and showed me a few of the smart TVs. However, when I asked if they delivered, he said no. Call me crazy but if you've got a customer in front of you who is 'thisclose' to spending hundreds if not thousands in your store, I would have found a way to get that TV to her for an extra charge. How many people in NYC have cars anyway? I guess these guys must work for some kind of minimal hourly wage and not on commission because they had a weak target in their store who was itching to pull the trigger on a big purchase and no one even tried to talk her into it. read more

Wow... What terrible customer service. I called in ahead of time to make sure they had the MDP to HDMI cable I was looking for and was assured they have it in stock. I checked the website to verify. Seems like it should be a simple purchase. The store is super unorganized and the staff seem totally uninterested in providing any kind of help. There are isles upon isles of cables and adapters to sort through but I did manage to find an isle that should have had what I was looking for. After about 10 minutes of searching, I found a sales person to help me, but after inquiring, he just poked around the racks that I had already looked through then directed me to the Apple section of the store. The sales person at the Apple section asked if I needed help and I told him what I was looking for. He proceeded to poke around at the shelves pretty unenthusiastically. His body language said that he did not know what I wanted and did not really want to find out more about it. "Well whatever we have here is probably it". When I told him I verified that the item was in stock via phone call and via website, he shrugged his shoulders and said "I dunno" and then walked off. I thought he would go check stock on the inventory system or ask a co-worker, but he just walked off with no intention of returning to help me. The store wasn't busy at all and there was plenty of staff standing around chatting and looking at their phones. Finally after over 30 minutes, I find the cable I was looking for hidden behind other similarly marked items. More expensive price than listed but after the time I spent getting there and looking around I just purchased it. Thanks for not giving a crap about your customers Micro Center! I'll be sure to tell everyone I know NOT to spend money at your establishment! read more

Prices are great, selection is great. But the manager needs a clue - no one wants to wait while watching sales people do nothing. Dishonest, a lake of website, hidden policy, a lake of fulfilling their rule of the trade, worst customer service experience, not a reliable business, I don't recommend them at all. These are my experience with the family-owned business model (microCenter). Which is not good for a business with business ethics and customer-oriented. I ordered graphic cards (six of them) for my first mining rig project, their website was shown on limitation per household. I choose the card that has unlimited stock and I ordered the online cards I received an email that the cards are ready for pickup. I went to the store for pickup, I met a nice lady with a fake smile and said it is a new in-store limitation on this card to be one per household, which something didn't show online or even the confirmation email or the pickup. I told her I wanna talk to the manager she went and got me, Michael, who he supposed to be the manager... I don't think so. So, he talk in a very rude way and said the microcenter manager has the right to refuse to process the order for no reason like we are slaves, not a client ( i own a company and I never tell my clients that, especially who is paying me money). Which not mentioned online at all that we will be controlled by somebody, I'm a client who ordered online and I received a confirmation email for pickup. ... and they said there's no commitment to fulfil the order to the client. I called the customer service on the phone and when she heard me talking to the manager she asked me to talk to him, I open my speaker so he can talk to her. It seems she knows him or even she is some kind of supervisor because I heard her telling him do not to give me the order and fix the website. I felt it is a kind of joke, it seems like it was a family business and the customer service, not real customer service. She is a boss and hiding in a customer service uniform. When I told her it is ethical to honour the order that I placed online, I received the confirmation email. She told me to wait and placed me on hold for almost 30 minutes and then she came back to me and she said that she talked to the corporate officer and said we have to follow the fake limitation. I tried to prove they are laying about that, when I was in the store I went online to microcenter website to see if they update this rule of limitation. But still, no limitation online and I placed another order, I ordered another 6 cards online with no problem... The issue I don't like is how they are not reliable, family business with ethics or rules, small very small to compare it with BestBuy. I ordered the same cards with $10 differences and free delivery to your house and their website is accurate with a limitation of 3 cards which I understand (demands, and supply) but published online. I hoped microcenter will be professional in handling client complaints. I will not deal with these people anymore (microCenter). Especially in professional matters, they are not reliable and the customer service sucks, Brooklyn Manager his name is Michael and the lady with a yellow smile in the wrong position, customer service lady which looks like a manager hiding in a uniform which gives orders to the manager. the total experience is awful. I'm feeling choked from such business to be fake and operate in family-owned orientation with limited experience of fulfilling their duties. This review is specifically for the so called "knowledge bar." Upon approaching their desk, they seemed quiet perturbed that I was interrupting their game of solitaire. Once I got signed in, I explained that I simply needed the dust blown out. I was told that they would need to send my MacBook out to a tech desk which they could do on 1 to 3 days. Apparently their "knowledge" does not actually include computer repair/diagnosis despite the fact that they are an Apple-certified tech support center. Don't waste your time. read more
