This review is specifically for the so called "knowledge bar." Upon approaching their desk, they seemed quiet perturbed that I was interrupting their game of solitaire. Once I got signed in, I explained that I simply needed the dust blown out. I was told that they would need to send my MacBook out to a tech desk which they could do on 1 to 3 days. I came here for the second time needing data recovery: Craig D. who was "technichian" in data recovery DROPPED MY DRIVE. Then he lectured me how it's SSD AND IT'S fine. What if he drops your HHD when you're not looking and on top charges $50 for "diagnostics". When asked any details he was condescending and insulting in great customer disservice. He can also "back up" your HDD for $100. He should be fired and a nice, helpful data technician should take his place, before I'll do any repairs here, and more customers are insulted and turned away. read more

TLDR: Micro Center said on the phone they'd price match, but when I got to the store they turned me down. Amazon on the other hand price matched the same item the next day even after it was out for shipping. I ordered a monitor on Amazon but wanted to pick it up that day so I called Micro Center. It was $20 more at MC so I asked if they would price match, an employee on the phone said yes so I took the train 45 minutes to go and pick it up. However, when I got there the manager refused to honor the price match. He woldn't even tell me to my face either, he had his employee do it. So I left without buying it. Frustrating, and a huge waste of time. The next day, I saw the same monitor even cheaper on Rakuten. I spoke with a rep at Amazon, and even though the item was processed, paid for and being shipped out they happily matched the price and refunded my credit card the difference. Based on my experience with both companies, I can save myself a long train ride in the future because I will never shop at micro center again. read more

They sell their Powerspec PCs with a 48 hour repair guarantee which they were unable to meet. Initially I was basically told tough luck when inquiring about this after they took 5 days to repair my PC but I was later contacted and compensated so have changed my review to 3 stars. I'm still of the opinion that there's no point offering such a guarantee if you can't generally meet it for hardware failures; it's misleading to customers for whom this is an important consideration when purchasing a PC for work. That said, I appreciate the customer care I received after raising this issue. read more

I took my Macbook Pro in to be fixed here in July. The computer had a touch bar that had stopped working and it wouldn't even boot up. I was really worried I was going to lose everything. Rudy, the Mac expert at Micro Center- was incredible with me. He thoroughly explained everything that was going on with my computer and really seemed to care what was happening. He also answered all of my questions, and even came in early to work check in on my computer. And in the end, my computer was totally fixed and I didn't lose anything. I cannot recommend the Micro Center repair team enough-- especially Rudy. He is an example of what great knowledge combined with great customer service is all about. read more

I think things will get better over time. When I visited last month, everyone was in training. It was very difficult to find a floor person to help. They do have a lot of things, and the prices are pretty good, BUT the staff doesn't know the products. And the worst part is that, in order to get any information, you're sent to a KNOWLEDGE CENTER, likely far from where you asked the question. WORSE, before you can ask your question, you have to stand in line to register on a single computer... giving your name and email address. Then you wait AGAIN until they're ready to speak to you. This is not only a giant waste of time (especially annoying if you have a simple question, like "Do you carry..."), but an unnecessary privacy invasion. Why do you need my email address to check to see if a product is available? All that said, they are trying, and, as the staff gets better training, things may improve. Most important, though, is to get rid of that in-store email registration. read more

Let me start of by saying, that I do like this store, a lot. When i'm in need of obscure parts that only tech professionals need, I can always count on them to have it here, instead of me waiting for it online and the website is insanely good at telling you what's in stock, where it is and in my experience it's never wrong. Their biggest downfall however, is how incompetent their staff is. I went in to look for a 10 port usb charger yesterday, the guy walked around in a circle, looked at one box, and told me it out of stock then proceeded to talk about video games with another rep. i walked down the aisle, and it was out there in plain sight. Another time, I returned a faulty 400$ video card and exchanged it for a more expensive one, it took me over an hour because i couldn't find staff to unlock the GPU cabinet. I ain't even mad though, it's just funny how bad service can be. would i go there again? probably... they always have what i need when i need it now, just factor in some time to find it yourself if it's an unusual item. read more

After a 45 minute drive here, I tole the "receptionist" that I needed a wireless mouse for my MAC. She contacted a male sales person and I repeated that I needed a wireless mouse for my MAC. I noticed a table of APPLE products close by and asked if they had the Apple MAGIC MOUSE. He told me they were sold out and I said do you have something compatible? He left and a female sales person returned and escorted me over to the display of mice. I asked her what she recommended. She pulled out an inexpensive ($19.99) product and I again asked if it would be compatible with my MAC. She replies YES. I paid and drove home only to find that it was for a PC!!!! Threw it away and tried to control my anger as I ordered an Apple mouse from AMAZON. Ignorant sales people! Incredible support from the Microcenter team today. Came in with a brand new PC build I'd completed that would not post, featuring CPU and motherboard from Microcenter. I assumed a BIOS problem (that Microcenter had not flashed the new BIOS the motherboard needed that they claimed). George at the service desk and he service manager hooked me up with a free BIOS flash to see if that was the problem. When it wasn't, they (and lead tech Francisco) tested multiple new motherboards for me at no charge. Ultimately, I bought the new board for only the marginal cost above my previous board and didn't even need to pay a fee for the service. Outstanding support from everyone involved when I was in a tough spot. read more

I have been to this store a few times and every time I was welcomed by employees. They always try to help me to find anything or answer my questions. Today I went to buy a 16 GB flash drive, then I asked about buying a laptop with a credit card. Unfortunately, my application had been declined since I don't have a credit score at all. But then, they gave me a free 64 GB flash drive just because I applied for a credit card. I left the store happily. I will buy my next laptop from them for sure. DON'T TRUST THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!! I've dropped off my Mac for repair on 11/08 and today is 12/14 and they still didn't give me any status update on what's going on with my laptop. No one ever followed up with me, I had to call them myself and each time there is a DIFFERENT story that they tell me - first there was a "hold" on my warranty check with Apple, which is VERY WEIRD because I already brought my Mac for repair before and never had any issues with it. Then they said they had to wait for a box to be send from Apple to ship it to them. Even though the first few weeks their "technician" claimed that they've already shipped it and were just waiting on Apple to complete the repair. I've been more than patient already with these guys and now will start taking other measurements unless someone gets back to me with an update and returns my laptop! First they said a few days, then a few weeks for Apple to repair and now what??? Complete radio silence!!!!!!! When calling no one know what's happening, the "technician" is out and manager is not there!!! VERY VERY SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICE!!! read more

They took 3 weeks to fix a laptop that wasn't charging. In the meantime bought a an open box laptop from them as a back up. I was told it was a return that hadn't been used. The "fixed" laptop-- wasn't fixed and stopped working a couple months later so did the open box laptop ( I now believe it was refurbished since Dell wouldn't honor the warranty). I was out a combined $700. Normally a laptop lasts me 3-4 years. read more

My 75 year old Mom stopped in to purchase an iPad. She took her brand new iPad home and asked me to set it up. During the setup process the iPad refused to update to iOS 11.1 and then refused to restore to factory after becoming "locked up". Simple return and exchange, right? WRONG The techs refused to authorize the return because In it's current state they couldn't re-sell it. Rather than return the device to Apple? They failed to inform me that all that needed to be done was to go into iCloud and de-authorize the device for Mom's Account. So... I called Apple while still in the store and they walked me through it. First observation, DON'T BUY APPLE PRODUCTS FROM MICROCENTER. They clearly don't know what they're doing and won't authorize a return if they suspect they can't re-sell the device. The Manager on duty was nothing short of a "Jerk". When I became angry and informed him i wasn't shopping anymore at Microcenter, his response was "fine, go shop somewhere else". What kind of Manager tells a Customer their business isn't valued? The attitude he took was loud and clear, we here at Microcenter don't give a ______ about you, Mr. Customer. Second Observation: The Managers clearly don't care about their loyal Customer Base. Therefore, I am giving them a 1 star review for poor support, lousy attitude, not caring about their customers and not properly supporting Apple products which they sell. read more

I needed a laptop badly and my aunt told me about this place, thinking it was an independent store, not part of a chain. I didn't do my research before hand but I saw a Dell laptop Wednesday afternoon that seemed to be a good fit for me. I discussed it with a salesperson named Chris P, who gave me a quote for that model which would come with internal CD/DVD drive, windows 8.1 and Microsoft Office, home/Student version. I went the next day after discussing some stuff with my brother but was still confused about how the wireless connection would work where I live since the current setup is a desktop with DSL which would still be in use. I went back yesterday and bought the model that I was looking at with the Windows, Chris P wasn't there so another salesperson helped out.Office and the anti-virus program recommended. That was about 2 Pm. I was then told they could install the software. The only one that would cost me would be Office which was $39.99 plus tax. After spending about $800, that seemed like chump change. I was told it would be two hours. It was more around 4 hours. That's fine though, since it's a short walk from my aunt's house. I got there and they forgot to install the program to make the desktop look similar to Microsoft Windows 7, which I think is called classic shell. That however did not take long to remedy as they walked me through it right there. read more

Although my past experiences with the staff have been fair to middling, yesterday was outstanding. I came in to pick up a Chromebook for my son, but I left my keys in the restroom, where they had dropped out of my back pocket. When I got home (vis subway) and realized they were missing, I phoned Microcenter. The person who I talked to said they hadn't found anything , but would call me if they did. I couldn't wait, so I traveled back after my kids got home from school. The manager of the store had my keys waiting for me. Now this may not seem extraordinary, but it was a very big deal for me, and I told her so. My expectation from big box stores is a range of response from studied indifference to ambulent schizophrenia. MIcrocenter's nerdy staff was actually quite personable, and I DID feel like an important customer. Five stars for a non-technical aspect of the business. read more

Don't think ill be coming back here no more. For over a hour i tried calling & their system played a message then hung up. I try ordering my item online & it wont let it go thru. So I decide to come to the store itself which is about 7 miles from where I live. I go up to the security desk & explain what happened, show id that im a first responder(all other stores have been very nice & let me in) & I get told no im sry u cant come in. Come back tomorrow. If their phone system would have been working in the first place someone would have told me I need to put my name on a list, they would also have told me they arent letting in no one unless u are on the list. Store is well-stocked and having a parking lot is great. The salesman did not try to up-sell and only asked once if I wanted extended coverage. However, when I was checking out my purchase he asked for my email address and I asked if it would be used to send me ads. He said no so I gave it to him. Today I received an email thanking me for subscribing to their online newsletter. Like I don't spend enough time deleting spam. 8/10/14 I received an email from Micro Center apologizing for putting me on their email list and promising that I would not receive any more. I came here a total of 2 times and sadly I won't be returning. Why? Posters can be seen around saying how Microcenter cherishes its customers, yeah, right. The first time l came here I was paying at the register when I overheard an employee talk about a "delusional" and "idiotic" costumer she's recieved. My second time I had gone to the Customer Service section to return my item. Big "F***K you!" when they had the audacity to say "Don't you just hate when customers do that?" ln front of my face, Implying I was getting a full refund for a $500 laptop. Seriously?! Although the customer service is absolutely horrendous, the staff will kindly take you and help you pick out what it is you want. Just make sure you know EVERYTHING it is that you're buying because these people don't. I would not advise you take your Mac here to be repaired. I brought my computer in. It took a week for them to diagnose the problem, and another week to "repair" it. Only when I got the computer home, it still wasn't working. I brought it back, and it took another two weeks for them to claim it was working. But when I came in a third time, and we booted the machine in the store, it was still not functioning properly. They told me I needed to spend hundreds of dollars on new parts, then turned out not to need the new parts. I called numerous times for updates, but would rarely get any answers or even return calls. Finally, after two months, I told them just to wipe the computer and I'd deal with it myself. So, they had my computer for two months and barely fixed anything. I don't know about their PC repair or general sales, but for Mac repair, I had a terrible time. read more

When they say "satisfaction guaranteed," they really mean it. They put a personal touch on things and take care of an issue even if it's unclear they have to. I had an issue with both my Macbook Air's. The only reason why I am giving this a 4 star is because of Craig, a service technician that helped me at the knowledge bar. He is super efficient, diligent, and skillful. He was very helpful in simplifying the computer/ technology terms in ways I (who has no IT knowledge) can understand. He was also very patient and guided me every step of the way and provided the utmost customer service I've seen in a while. He also saved me huge bucks that most people wouldn't have cared if you spent. Everyone else I encountered at the store did not seem helpful at all, especially the guy at the front door who checks people into the store. He didn't seem to know what he was doing. If it wasn't for Craig, I would've given this place a rating that's a lot lower. read more

I travel a bit to get to this store. They have very good prices and sometimes they will give items to registered customers with no purchase necessary. I always come here whenever I need a new usb. One of my animation classes recommended a good external hard drive ($80) because animation takes up a lot of data but a regular 64 gb usb from micro center (~$17) worked just as well. read more

The most horrible customer service that I have ever been involved with. I have my computer at the store. They will take all the files out of my computer. I left them my number. They called twice and I missed the calls. 347-563-9880. I called them on Sunday 5/31/2020. I called them 10 times holding each time for at least 30 minutes. The most I waited was up to 1 hour. NO ONE PICKS UP THE PHONE. NO ONE. You will have to go to the store like I did, wait 45 minutes to get in and ask a question about why they called you. And to top it off a person that works for them is yelling at one the employees of the store to act like a manager really loud in front of every one. Just horrible. They called today. I missed the number. I called back and i get a recording that they have a revised business hour . I called at 4:30, well before the revised hour of 7 pm closing. The recording tells me to call back within the revised hours and abruptly hangs up. You cannot make this up. If you missed their call. You will never be able to get someone on the phone to answer. I do not care if we are going through a pandemic, SOMEONE SHOULD ANSWER THE DAMN PHONE AND ALSO SOMEONE SHOULD LET YOU KNOW THERE WILL BE A WAIT FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. This will be the last time I will deal with this place ever again. I am surprised they are still in business with the most horrible customer support that I have experienced. AND PLEASE DONT SAY ITS THE CALL VOLUME. There should be a recording saying how long the wait will be. Or hire more people for the customer service. There is just no excuse for this. The first time we came here was to get a CPU after receiving a defective one from SuperBiiz.com. We left the store with a new CPU, keyboard and mouse. When you are building your PC, definitely check out Micro Center before buying from an online website. (I have to put out a warning: Tread carefully when buying from a site such as SuperBiiz.com. I cannot emphasize this enough. Returns are an EXTREME hassle with SuperBiiz.) Now back to Micro Center. You could probably find any computer part you need here with a multitude of price ranges to build your PC. I asked about price match for one item and they obliged. The sales associates are very helpful without bombarding customers. Note that the restroom here is pristine. A laboratory or hospital comes to mind when you step inside. I was desperately looking for a laptop because my old one got totally screwed up. I searched high and low for a good enough laptop that ranged in my budget, but I couldn't find anything. Until I got to Micro Center! I've heard of Micro Center before but I wasn't sure if there was on in Brooklyn. There's also a huge free parking lot for all you drivers out there. When I first walked into the store it was like a kid walking into a candy store. So many laptops, desktops, and other electronics. Like I said before, I was looking for a new laptop within my budget range. There was an employee named Joshua Bobb who helped me out tremendously. He was very professional, courteous and helped me pick out the perfect laptop (I even spent less than I initially was willing to). When I was sold on an item, Joshua then introduced me to Micro Center's Senior Manager, R. Michael Ellis who was also very professional and generous. He thanked me for my choosing MC and told me if I had any problems with my laptop (It's open-box) to come back and they'll get right on it. I believe that employees who take the time out to assist their customers and help people in need are what keeps customers happy, and satisfied. The reason why I didn't give this store 5 stars is because I've only had the laptop for a couple of hours and I want to make sure there's no future problems with my item. So far so good though! I normally have better service with them... However my last interaction was the worst I have ever had. Used curbside pickup for an item that was supposed to be in stock. They took the money out of my account instantly, and about 15 minutes later... I received an email stated my reservation was cancelled. Not to worry no money would be collected. Well 3 days later and I am still waiting on the funds to be returned that were "NOT" collected. The store phone system is always busy and hangs up on you. I came in to try out and buy an iPad Air. All the iPads on display were password locked erroneously. I asked 4 employees here if they could help and they all shrugged their shoulders and said "I dunno". I finally got to the manager Rob who kept saying he will check and kept me waiting for 30 minutes until I asked for him by name. He went on break. What a way to treat a buying customer? I like Micro Center but instead of buying from this Genius Manager and his "I dunno" staff, I'm heading straight to Best Buy. Manager Rob just made a great customer go to the competitor. Great job! Though it's a rather long trip from home by public transit this store is still my preferred option as a brick-and-mortar electronics and computer store. It's a large store, and though they can't maintain the kind of huge inventory a purely electronic retailer can I've found them to always have enough selection in stock to provide different options for the most common scenarios. Their support plan is also good: in addition to offering the usual repair or replacement they can offer a store credit for a trade-in on an item for which you added the plan. read more
