He thought that the store carried them and did not know which aisle. He used his headset to ask other staff members the question. Unfortunately they no longer carry metal stands. Kelvin provided the worst customer service possible at checkout. When asked about using rewards points he just kept repeating use your email. He was condescending, curt, and rude. Then when we went to check out still had to wait for the front check out person to help someone else before verifying we were over 21 to purchase the spray paint. Needs more staff. Whatever happened to customer service? One employee was pretty friendly. She was tall with dark hair (couldn't see her name tag). The red head...another story. The dark haired girl told us to take our carts and tip them sideways to get out of the store (we bought so much stuff that there was NO WAY we could carry it all out to the car). The red head says in a snotty tone, "SIR, you CAN'T do that". So, we had to make several trips back and forth to the car. Not a huge deal to make the trips, BUT: 1. She heard the first girl tell us to do it and then gets nasty with us for doing it. 2. I wouldn't have bought all this stuff that I don't clearly need if I knew that I had to hand carry it with several trips. 3. Rudeness doesn't just exist with customers. We were not rude first, she was. P.S. Management: My husband told me (not that I condone this) that he used the ladder to get stuff off of the top shelf and that same girl had NO PROBLEM letting him do that and never said a word when she walked by. So, why the carts? I know that by me avoiding this store will not make or break Michael's, but I will not be back to this Michael's (not even for emergency crafting supplies). Michael's has all sorts of new things, but my favorite recent new thing is a string journal. They had a lot of filler notebooks and then the binder to hold up to four books. I got all of them to hold all of my ideas. Then they had a huge sale, and I got a few spares when I fill these up. They also had a bunch of great planner stickers for my book. Of course I bought those too, and a set for my bestie at work. Thing is.... Michael's constantly has new ideas, new trends, and great products. Like quality brushes, and canvases, paints, pens, and loads of children's crafts. They added price checkers, finally. And they have weekly coupons. So they are my go to store for all things art. read more

I want to give a shout out to Aubrey who helped me today 12/15/2024 at 7:08pm she was so sweet and kind! On the other hand, when I asked this tall white girl for help to delete an item because I scanned twice by accident, she looked at me and gave me a dirty look, she didn't want to help, she then calls Aubrey saying "hey Aubrey can you help a customer" then her friend below says "you can help its fast and easy" then she says no and walks away! Then I turn around and she walks away. Later comes Aubrey who quickly solved the issue. That tall white girl shouldn't be working there because of how she treats others with disgust. But then I'm glad cause her pay probably isn't that great. I AM HISPANIC AND I DID IN FACT VOTED FOR TRUMP. I even told Aubrey "that white bitch is hella racists" Aubrey apologized for that other persons actions. If you ever shop at Michael's in Tempe Marketplace look for the tall white girl who looks like a dinosaur and ask for help and make sure she helps you because that's her job it's the main reason she works there lol. David, Ashley, and Tina were very helpful and patient when I visited last week! I was embarking on an arts and crafts project where I created a framed gallery of photos with twine. They took a lot of time out to suggest a very large, cheap frame ($8!), twine, glue, and a staple gun. They also told me to ask the cashier for 20% off coupons. Very thankful for the service here. The store is huge and therefore kind of overwhelming. Unfortunately, I couldn't find what I was looking for or someone to ask where it was located. I feel like I never can happen to find what I need at this location because of the sheer size of the store and the fact that it is usually so crowded. The checkout line can tend to be crazy ultra mega super long. Especially, on my last visit due to a 20% off your entire purchase in the ads that day. However, checking out tends to go crazy ultra mega super fast because they have multiple registers and actually had them all up and running! Hooray! :: cough, cough :: Ulta (a few doors down the way) :: cough, cough :: This was a huge plus-plus! Add a star. Having to call an employee on the sale's floor (Wait, there ARE employees hidden in that maze of a sale's floor??) to get a price for an items that was clearly similar enough to another item that it could have easily been priced the same. This was my second trip into this store. I was looking for a wood burning / soldering tool & had been to 2 other stores already. I had checked the online inventory & it said they had them. I got there to discover an empty product hook. I asked an associate & she diligently looked before another woman told her that all 6 they had in inventory had been stolen. The other, more expensive burners had been left untouched... I'm perplexed. There was no offer to check other stores for the item I specifically came in looking for but I was told to call ahead next time (keeping an accurate inventory would be a better solution). Not sure I will go back to this specific Michael's again. Given how they are treating employees during the pandemic, I may end up skipping them all together in the future. read more

I'm pretty sure I go to this Michaels more than any other Michaels in the area because it's the closest one. I've had good experiences and bad experiences in here and that's just the way it goes in Michaels. I try to be cheerful and friendly to the clerks and hope that I will get the same back . I am disappointed that the selection of the Donna Dewberry One Stroke painting supplies has dwindled over the years, as have the Plaid Folk Art paints and brushes, and there are practically no classes held here anymore. That's a shame because I do enjoy taking craft classes to learn new things. When you are in here be sure to hit the clearance aisle because it usually has quite a few things in it, and keep in mind that you can use only one coupon in here per visit but, depending on who has the highest coupon, it can be Michaels, Hobby Lobby or Joann's. It is not unusual for me too give away my Michaels coupon to someone else who is usually very appreciative, and use a Joanns coupon for 50 percent if one is available . I have bought a lot of stuff in here over the years including the supplies I have found here to help me get started with knitting and crocheting as well as continuing my card making and painting. I know the store so well people walk up to me and ask me where to find items and I can usually show them where the stuff is! Where's my commission?? read more

This Michaels location is within the Tempe Marketplace shopping center. It's off the McClintock entrance, which makes it easy to get in and out of, without having to cut through the mall. I wanted to give them 3 stars, but I am feeling generous today, and gave them 4 stars since I do save some $$ with thier coupons. Ok, so I am a scrapbooker at heart, but also like to frequent these stores for other forms of home decor for my place. This time, I was in Michaels for some decorative flowers, along with maybe some fabric as well to go over the blinds in my apartment. I found the flowersI needed here, but not the fabric. :-( bummer. The store is set up nicely, with most stuff sectioned off. Baskets in one area, framing in another, scrapbooking off to one side, etc. you get the point. Bonus for having some form of organized layout. I dig that. They were having an amazing discount on some candles, plus, I used a coupon I had gotten in the mail, and it saved me a bunch of $$. The best part of Micheals is that they send out coupons just about every week. If you know you are going to be doing some shopping there for anything, check your mailbox before you do. The complaints that I have about Michaels are the following. First, this location does NOT sell fabric. Its not the first Michael's store that I have found that doesn't. I was upset, becuase that means I have to do another trip to a store if I had really wanted to get fabric for decorating. I mean, most of the Joanns sell fabric in these parts, why cant they? Secondly, the isles feel cramped and pushed together. At times, it can be hard to navigate if you have more then one other person shopping in the same isle. Don't even try to push your cart down the isle if someone else is there. Thier literally wide enough for one person to squeeze down. yuck. I like my space. It almost makes me feel like I need to take turns to look at stuff. Anyways, I will always recomend Michaels, but to be honest, I would rather go to Jo-anns ETC as they are far superior then Micheals in my crafty opinion. read more

The staff was really friendly at this location and we were passed by two different employees that both greeted us and asked if we needed assistance in finding anything. Although we were unable to find everything we needed at this location the staff made an effort to assist us and they offered to special order it for us if we needed them to. Oh Michaels, you so crafty. The way you trick me into thinking I need those $1 items, that extra stuffing, and maybe some beads for the bracelet I'll never make. Don't get me wrong, I love Michaels. I love crafting and creating something. However, lately I just don't have the time for it! I came to this particular Michaels on a mission for some felt for a specific project I was working on. Yes, I could have gone straight to the felt, grabbed it and left, but no... I had to wander the baking aisle, the knitting aisle, basically I went down every aisle just to see what was new and if there was anything I might possible want to do in the future. In the end, I left with more than I originally needed! That's okay. Just add it to the craft closet. You can be sure I will be back. This particular Michaels has the same layout as most I've been in and it is convenient since it is at Tempe Marketplace. The parking can be horrible, depending on the day/time but a little extra walking won't kill anyone. read more

Now that my place is finally all unpacked and ready to start living in, I've uncovered all of my craft stuff which caused me to get the fever. With lots of new ideas in mind, I headed to Michael's. Their layout is pretty straight forward, the isles and shelves were well organized with no evidence of hungry crafters pulling things off and rummaging through them. I like to make jewelry so beads are my draw to Michael's. I'm going to make a suggestion on the bead merchandising that Michael's will never follow: it would be rad if they were organized by price. All the beads are color coated to match their price point but as a starving artist on the go it would save my time and brain muscles if all the price points were put together. Just an idea. I'm sure the brains at Michael's has a reason for doing it the way they do. The place was dead so no line for the checkout. Always nice to not have time to wonder if I've spent too much. The girl who rang me up was not interested in small talk which is okay I guess. I'm sure she was busy with something else but I always appreciate feeling like my purchase is important.
