This is a smaller location but has a lot of variety and is set up well. I just needed some thread and while the options were limited to just 3 multipacks of thread, it totally met my need. I was surprised to find they had a really great selection of embroidery floss. They had a lot of materials for different types of projects and many areas that gave good inspiration on trying new art forms. They also do custom framing. The front area and by the register also had fun gift ideas and trinkets. And there's a huge selection of Monster spray paint. read more

I honestly cannot believe I have not been here before this recent visit, as I love crafting, but usually had gone to the Joann's down the street (RIP). I was on the hunt for some specific paper for bookbinding and was not disappointed by the options. Not only did I find the blank paper I needed, I found a great selection of more specialty and fun paper as well as stationary pens and a few other basic bookbinding materials. They have much more than that though, including all your arts and craft needs, paints, pens, pencils, canvas, etc and fun trinkets, cute stationary type such as journals, stickers, etc. The prices are all very reasonable and they do offer student/teacher discounts. They were running a back to school donation drive for the local schools, which you received a 20% coupon for a return visit. It's only downfall is the parking, alas it is on campus and shared space with lots of high traffics restaurants and groceries, but if you don't find a spot right away, usually a lap or two will do it. read more

What a great art store. I had off Blick, but had never experienced the pleasure it was to go in one. The employees there were eager and happy to help. They have some of everything! You won't always get a product due to selling out or simply need to order from the website. From the few art supply stores that I have been to, I'd say that they are matched up price wise. For all my Artists in the game... you know this place.... for Hobbyist & Craft Makers... you know the others. When it comes to a robust selection of art supplies targeted for artists, this "IS" the spot in Tempe. Found what I was looking for when it came to stretch canvas boards in various sizes to accommodate a lot of African and Cuban artwork I recently collected. One particular canvas was extremely challenging so I decided to have it custom framed. The time frame said about 7-10 days and then I got the call ready for pickup in the window. Upon pick up, I was very pleased with what they were able to do with the canvas and more (more being the enclosed backing and hanging attachments. I initially went to Blick in Tempe for custom framing for my fine art colored pencil piece and realized that the pricing was steeper than I had expected. The staff person in the store recommended considering a standard size premade frame and then having a mat cut and selecting my glass. It was a perfect solution as I was able to get the mat I wanted and UV glass I needed it. I learned a new process and would recommend Blick Tempe. read more

Love everything about this place! my personal go to for everything from cotton rag paper, artist grade watercolors, gouache, journaling supplies, drafting materials, paint brushes, etc. the list can go on and on. They have pretty much everything and things are very reasonably priced in comparison with Amazon, which I do not currently support. When in town, Blick is a must for any artist or hobbyist. Though this location is a major pain to get in/out of... (the one minus star) there's something to say about the younger generation of/in customer service. Relax. Smile more. Laugh more, even with folks that are older than you. Don't be selective or "put out..." Learn from the older generations... Blicks' prices are competitive with bigger box stores and have a niche in all things drawing, painting is still impressive. This art store is amazing, the staff leaves a lot to be desired. There is a elderly man that works there, that has zero customer service skills. It wasn't just me there were two younger girls that were trying to use the restroom that he was also giving a hard time to. They are located next to one of the best tea and boba shops in the state, I guess because of COVID, you aren't allowed to drink in the store as it requires you to move your mask. I wanted to take pictures for the review, and was hoping on making purchases but I was getting irritated just being there. Don't bring a drink, and get in and out quick without having to ask for help and you'll be fine, the selection is impressive. read more

I've been going here for school supplies and usually they have everything I need. This is probably the first time I had a sucky experience with them. I seen online that they had the basswood sticks I needed for a project so I went in-store to get them as the 48 count bundle they offer online. Found it just as it's displayed online in a plastic wrap that encased all 48 sticks. At checkout they told me they don't sell the bundles although there were literally wrapped bundles right by the single sticks. They asked what I was talking about and even after showing them what I thought I was going to be getting online they wouldn't honor it and I had to pay the original price per stick ($40 total including tax) versus the $13-15 I was expecting to pay. The next day I returned 28 sticks and the cashier credited me back the amount I kept??? I only got $16 when it should've been more than $20. I was so over this place that I just left and am currently hoping I don't have to go back there again. read more

I'm in love with this store! I assumed it was pricey being right next to campus, but it is totally affordable and fairly priced. I shopped around online first due to Covid and ended up here and couldn't be happier. It's small and cozy with supplies stacked to the ceiling. They have a great selection of paints, and all seemed to be on sale. If you like watercolor like I do, they sell Arches here, but that's about all they have...not like I need another sketchbook anyway. I did find some cute 4x4 and 6x6 Strathmore squares. I also stocked up on drawing utensils and artist tape and other bits and bobs and was very pleased with the selection. You can have your art framed here, but as with any framing, it can be pricey. If you sign up for a card you get the discounted web prices in store so that's a perk for ya. I think I saved about 10 bucks off a 100 dollar purchase. read more

Blick has always provided me the materials I need to succeed as an architecture major at ASU. The staff is always very helpful and kind, especially Bob and Alexa. They always make sure that I find what I need and make shopping at the store a positive experience. My only complaint is that blick can have limited inventory, and some items are a bit more pricy compared to the competitors. read more

This store was heaven for artists! I visited Blick for the first time tonight and I was shocked to see how many amazing deals they had and all the amazing products they carried that would would not find at any other Art supply store. However, I did not have a very great customer service experience. While in line, there was a young woman cashier (with pink hair) who was being incredibly rude to everyone. She would cut people off from speaking and ask another question, louder, as if she thought they were stupid. When it was my turn, I told her I was there to pick up an art kit for a class I'm taking. She checked to see if she had anymore, they didn't which is okay. So she basically gave me a list of the materials I needed, and told me to go find it myself and that they closed in 20 minutes. I just left because I didn't want to be that person who stayed super late, and I just didn't want to deal with her again. She was probably a college student, as am I, and I get that it sucks to work so much and to also do school. I just feel like if you're having a rough day maybe don't lash out on other struggling college students who didn't do anything to you. But the other 2 employees, I didn't get their name, were being super helpful. A man helped me out before I talked to the rude woman and he was being super sweet. Nowhere listed on the website that appointments are mandated - in the 10 minutes I was there fighting over not having an appointment. I've been buying art supplies from Blick online forever. When our friends mentioned it was nearby, we HAD to go. I was not disappointed. They had a dizzying array of products, and their pen display made it easy to test out various pens. I saw notebooks I'd read about, but never seen in person (important when paper texture matters.
