The instructor was extrenely informative (and suppprtive), she made sure everyone had material and constantly checked to ensure nothing was running low. I had never heard of this place before until my coworker reached out to try and plan a girls' night there. We signed up for the Blankets & Besties workshop, where you make a chunky blanket. You get to choose your color from a list and note it when you register on their website. It was $85 before tax and came with 5 skeins of yarn, with the option to add more (I think for an additional $15). I also put in the notes on my registration the names of my friends so that we could sit together. The workshop was at 6pm on a Friday and lasted about two hours. There was my group of three and three others, plus the owner/instructor Lauren. Her instructions were easy to follow, and she would jump in if we needed help. I made a few errors, and she was able to fix them for me. I ended up making my loops too loose on the outside and too tight on the inside, so my blanket came out a bit small. But I think it was decent for my first attempt. It's so soft. I keep it on my couch to use as a lap blanket. We all had a great time and would definitely come back to try other workshops. I would not recommend this company. It was overpacked with 24 people and one person working the event. There wasn't any tutorial of anything. The leader just said instructions quickly and with everyone doing so many different projects at same time, she couldn't go step by step to show anything or show different techniques. I was told that the resin would fall off the sides of the wood but I could put resin if I wanted. Well, it didn't fall off the side and looks bad. We luckily had a nice couple across from us with experience using resin and helped us along the way. I also googled things along the way (like how much resin is too thick cause that was never mentioned). For the price I paid I should not be googling information or asking other customers. read more

They booked 24 people for our class and only one teacher. I am fairly artistic but without ever doing this before and little help I wasted $100.00 dollars. Had they had two teachers it might have been better, had they provided written instructions, had they had a tv going with a demonstration I might have made a project to be proud of. We had the best time with Lauren at Hammer & Stain! I booked a private party for a group of girl friends and family on a Friday night. We got to pick our own projects, and brought snacks and wine. We worked on our projects and had a blast. Lauren was so helpful and and even fixed mine when I made a mistake and my OCD kicked in and I was stressing it wasn't perfect I cannot recommend this place and Lauren enough.
