Strings of beads. So many colors.

Service 2/5 The times I've been here you MAY get a hello, welcome in. I'm not sure if staffing is an issue on an ongoing basis but it's rare you see staff on the floor ready to assist customers. I usually have to walk the store to seek someone out and get the assistance I need. They've now gone to self checkout so I'm not sure what the staff are doing. Selection 5/5 A plethora of arts, crafts, frames and painting supplies. Tons of jewelry necessities for DIY and baking needs as well. Value 2/5 Overpriced in my opinion.

Issa sale!!

I visit this location quite often. Not because it's the best, but because of its location. This store has an odd layout. It doesn't flow. The blank shirts aren't always stocked. So that's a big inconvenience for me. The staff is always changing. This store also has less inventory than other locations. There is lots of room for improvement.

Receipt of purchases

I went to Michael's to purchase beads and the cashier did not know to procedures concerning the promotion of buy three and get three free. She did not want to cash me out after spend $88.00. She was not professional and very rude. I will not patronize this store in the future.

Went to Michael's yesterday to get 14 balloons blown up for my daughter.. took the lady 30 minutes to blow up, we left at 5:45 by 11pm the balloon were on the floor.. the balloons weren't even inflated all the way bc I bought the same pack and inflated them at home for floor decor and they are much larger. Not sure why they cannot refund my balloons and want me to come back (going out of my way) with the balloons. Didn't even offer the stuff that makes the balloons last longer. Not only that if you're going to take on party city's job blowing balloons up make sure they are lasting at least a day in a half. Extremely disappointing would've had a better opportunity but the helium tank and done it myself they probably would've lasted longer. Will not be coming back to get balloons from here again.

Melts, sprinkles, sticks, bags, twisties all purchased from Michaels

It's been awhile since I visited this location as it wasn't the best organized and their parking is a little crazy...fast forward about 3-4 years, I visited as the Dublin location didn't have items I was looking for my niece's school fundraiser: treat boxes, cake pop sticks, melts etc...I guess it's that time of year! Fortunately, this location had most of the items I needed to make Halloween cake pops and cupcakes. Newly remodeled and now better organized with a more open feel to it...staff, Rayna and Pam were super friendly, helpful with locating items and my order pickup. Michael's is a great places for arts and crafts and basic baking items as usually satisfies my craft A.D.D. Don't forget to sign up for their rewards as you'll get 20-25% off your total purchase and other offers

Aranea Craft Studio - My completed project from Erin's How to Sew a Japanese Knot Bag Class

Aranea Craft Studio

I came in looking for black lining fabric and left with black linen! I wanted to finish my skirt…read morethat day to wear out and I'm glad I found a light enough fabric that worked well as lining :) Great service, nice people! I was also delighted to find japanese fabrics, didn't buy any that day, but will probably returning for some! While I was there, there was a knitting(?) class going on. It seemed interesting and fun, I might need to join a class sometime!

Such a wonderful studio!…read more Came across the studio after having breakfast in the area because I've started needle felting. Found parking conveniently right in front in the street since it was a quiet day out. I was looking for wool roving which she didn't have, however, she was so kind to explain the difference between the types of material and she showed me the correct type of yarn she did have that I'd be able to pull apart with my carding brushes! She had a lot of equipment to use for yarn crafts and it was great to see the variety of product inside. Apparently she holds craft nights and such too which I'm planning on looking into. Prices here were sooo much better than all the places I've found online which is also have to pay extra for shipping. She also even rolled the yarn into a ball for me before we left. Hopefully they'll have wool roving here soon, but I'm thankful for the yarn we were able to purchase for my current projects :) The best part -- her dog Jasper kept us company throughout our whole experience there and he is the absolute cutest cuddle bug! Can't wait to come back.

Today is Local Yarn Store day across the country, a day that encourages knitters to support…read moreindependent yarn stores, so I made it a point to visit Fillory Yarn, which is in my neighborhood. I used to knit a lot, but lost interest a couple years ago, and recently decided to try and get back in to it. When I arrived at Fillory I was immediately greeted and asked if I needed help with anything. I asked for a simple pattern to help ease me back into knitting. The staff member (maybe the owner?) guided me to a table covered in free patterns they were giving away for LYS day and said I should pick one and then they would help me find the right yarn for the pattern. I picked what I hope is an easy shawl pattern and then another staff member led me to the appropriate yarn section. There were so many choices of beautiful yarn I had a hard time deciding. I finally settled on a skein of Malabrigo in variegated shades of blue. I didn't see the needles I needed for the project, but it turned out they had them behind the counter. It was so convenient to be able to buy everything I needed at once. To top it off, they offered to wind my skein right then and there. Usually yarn shops don't offer this service on special days like today when the shop is crowded with customers. Fillory has been around for many years through several owners. They have a large selection of yarn and helpful employees who work hard. There is also a dedicated space for social knitting if you want to drop by to knit with others. They offer a variety of classes, too.

After my trek, Fillory Yarn was like an oasis. I immediately felt welcomed by the coziness of the store (it's very welcoming and inclusive), as well as the very friendly and helpful employees. Multiple said hi and welcomed me in, asking if they could do anything for me or if I needed any assistance. I've only recently begun to get into knitting and I loved their social knitting table! More stores should have that. I live in SF and I suppose SJ stores have more space for that. There were multiple people sitting and knitting and chatting. I also appreciated their sale section! I didn't buy anything from that section, but considered it. I also got a 5% off discount off my first purchase for joining their loyalty program. Everyone was so very helpful and friendly, quite a few employees and they all asked if I needed help. I loved their examples of items that were made with yarns they sold. They have an extensive collection and variety across types of yarn, materials, yarns for different items, books, accessories, and items across different price points--there is something for everyone and anyone, which makes sense. Fiber arts are political and I've been very impressed at how stores and fiber arts communities are welcoming everyone of all backgrounds into the fold. I'm disappointed but not surprised that some Yelp reviews reflect people who don't appreciate that inclusivity.

Now after all these years and now being retired and having the time, I'm ready to expand my skills. Now let me preface the fact I'm a lefty, so this is probably why I never went further that a simple stitch/blanket. But now you can find videos and tutorials, yay! So... off to the yarn shop. I mean Michael's has yarn for basic projects, but if feel it's time to step it up! During the pandemic I visited this shop with my friend who was looking for quality yarn at the time. Today I felt I'd go back and check out what they could offer for a burgeoning beginner/intermediate like me. The owner Marsha greeted me when I came in and was so helpful with all my questions (and I had a lot of questions!) she was very patient and kind. She helped me find a nice cotton yarn that wasn't too expensive since it's my first time doing a project like this one, and gave me some good tips on working with this kind of yarn. So also told me I can always come and sit at the large table with a project and sit and work on a project if I want too and time. So yes, this yarn may be a bit more expensive that you are used too if it's your first time at a proper Yarn shop, but these yarns are lovely and the qualities are beautiful. It's really a lovely little shop.

In the center of the shop, a group of women were knitting and chatting around the table, and it was absolutely charming. Marsha, the owner, could not have been kinder. This is the kind of place that makes you want to linger, create, and connect. I can't wait to come back!
