Best place to get balloons for any occasion. I've gotten ballons from this location 2x within 30 days and last for more than 1 week. I think this location has more options and the front staff is very helpful. Tip- get ballons in the evening or place an order in advance so associates can fill them without getting rushed. At first I thought having a Dollar Tree would be good for Castro Valley. Now I'm not so sure because they're either too slow or they're out of helium all the time for their balloons and as much as we pay for our mortgages on our homes and our businesses I think that we can have much better service. I went here with my family on Saturday afternoon. A woman outside was lounging around like a beached whale. Inside, a guy was dressed in a cow costume. (When we left, we passed a woman who was dressed as a clown. She was a little creepy, like she was trying to make kids cry rather than smile.) There's parking in the back. Slow down when you're approaching the store so that you don't miss the turn (the driveway is narrow). The area by the doors is a bit congested. Right away I had to avoid bumping into two people. A woman was on her phone. She apologized to another woman for being in the way. Anyway, a lazy man is treating the women in the house like slaves. The woman wants him to "get out" (the conversation was intriguing, but the woman was still way too LOUD). My wife found the remaining party supplies that she was looking for (square paper plates aren't sold here, but only a few local places seem to sell them at all). I only noticed the candy at the front. I was curious about it, but forgot to look for more. The selection of school supplies is solid. Some good Christmas items are currently being sold. The greeting card section is nice, and the cards stand out in terms of their quality (many of them would be over $3 elsewhere). The store was pretty clean (only one aisle was a little messy). I was also impressed at how organized it was. The back aisles are long. this Dollar Tree is fully stocked at the moment. parking lots is average sized. can get full quickly when it's busy. it's a block or so from Castro Valley's Natural Grocery. It's nice to have a Dollar Tree in CV. I've been here a few times so far and more recently they've added more items than when they first opened up. They don't carry as big of a selection as the Livermore location but it has the essentials. It's my go to spot for greeting cards because why spend $5 for 1 card when you can spend $1 or sometimes 2 for $1! I also like to get my dish soap here and cleaning supplies. They offer a variety of cleaning products that are name brand as well as their own brand and a lot of them are made in America which I love!!! The last time I stopped by I ventured out of my normal aisles and tried the Scotties brand of facial tissues and I was very pleased. Overall I'm happy the store is in CV and I really hope it stays. The manager that I talked to is an Indian woman named saniz I think, we walk in on 2/23 around 4pm to ask for her help about an online order we picked up here, need to replace some of the items due to bad item quality, she said they don't have any even when I told her employees here confirmed that they have many boxes in stock, she refuse to help and I even found the replacement items on their shelves and she just ignore me and walk out the store for the day. Why she have a job? And a management job too? It's around $50 worth of item, it's not about the money really, it cost more to eat in the bay, it's the fact that people like that manager who lied and got caught lying, and don't deserve to have a job is what I have to deal with as a customer, she gave me one of the nastiest look in 2023 when I ask her for help nicely. If she don't want to do her job that bad, just quit. Better for everyone, no? I think this store must have a very high turn over rate because I have met the assistant and store manager, they both just walk away from customer problems. Say bye to your online effort dollar tree with local management like these. Have you heard of Temu where people can buy less then $1 items without having to deal with attitudes like the management from this store? This store is well stocked most times I have been here. Tonight, they were running low on birthday cards. No biggie. The thing that comes to mind is the need for a security guard. 2 Start because the 2 employees that were NOT Manager Deborah were really and helpful. I bought some balloons and she was stading over her employee clearly making the employee uncomfortable. Manager Deborah them proceeds to speak to her employee in a tone that should not be used in a work environment. "Your go-backs DON'T go on MY register" The employee who was on the register with 6 costumers waiting in line apologizes but instead of helping him or just taking care of the go-back which he clearly needed assistance with, she walks away angry muttering under her breath. Now I understand we all have bad days but no employee should ever be made to feel defeated by their managers. And today I saw that. I hope that Manager Deborah gets the appropriate training to be able to support her team instead of speaking to them like they are burdens she has to deal with. Also maybe some help, maybe she's understaffed, but as a manager these are all things you have to be able to handle under your umbrella. Specially in the costumer service industry. I'll be back to this location and I really hope I don't see this type negative work environment or I will report this to the LTEF and OSHA. This Dollar store is loaded with goodies, and worth the drive from Oakland. Staff are helpful with answering questions, assisting with finding specific items, and during checkout. ( Special thanks to the young woman who helped me find a covered butter dish recently.) The negative is not about the shop itself, but with the parking lot behind it. There's a big dumpster which, several times I've been there, attracted some "iffy" people digging though it. I wish there were a door into the store from the black parking lot, instead of having to use the alley to the front entrance on CV Blvd. Despite that, i will keep returning here! read more

While I was excited to have a Dollar Tree open up close to me, I realized it's design is flawed. The front door and checkout should've been at the back where the parking lot is. It seems unsafe to ask customers to walk along an alleyway where cars drive and that long walkway that is dangerous at night. I personally have witnessed two customers who were handicapped and couldn't physically get back to their car. One lady who had a cane couldn't get far so a person driving out of the parking lot took her in her own vehicle to drive her back to the parking lot. Another old lady with a walker had a hard time getting to the front door. I hope they rethink this design for customers safety and rearrange the store so no one gets hurt. read more

Everything from boxes, gift bags, streamers balloons, etc.. The lines grow really quickly here but the employees knock those lines out rather quickly! It mad me so angry and I asked for the supervisor who happened to be the same woman. There was another woman there who was very nice and I apologized to her because she was in the "fire" too. She rang up my items. I left there angry and disappointed. It was a simple request and being in customer service I understand the stress involved. I didn't deserve the disrespect. I will not be back. I think this is one of the better Dollar tree locations, mainly because it is clean and typically well stocked and organized . The layout of the place is a bit funky. You walk down a long alleyway to get to the front entrance from the parking lot. Seems it would make a lot more sense if they had the entrance at the back or maybe even dual entrances. I purchased 9 7 inch vases for a party and needed to return them due to the party being cancelled. They were NOT used. I tried to exchange them and while the clerk was in the process of doing the transaction the manager of the store were making two boys empty their pockets from stolen candies - which made me very nervous and uneasy. The manager came over after she was done to approve my transaction and looked at one of the vases and stated "this was not bought here and these are used". To my defense, I had the receipt and the party had not occured, so her saying they were used was just BS. I took the stickers were all taken off because I am too efficient and didn't want to deal with them at the time I would be putting vases together. She upset me because of the incident and her negativity towards me, calling me a liar and accusing me of not buying them there. I clearly had 9 vases on this receipt!!!!! I tried to explain it to her again, the manager would not have it. After I went home and there was no return policy on the receipt stating needing a sku number, I called the store to ask them about it.......she knew who I was and hung up on me. I tried calling several times, no answer. Ghetto store!!!!! Ghetto means: something inferior, poor and urban cheap standard! No thanks!!!! The place is dirty and I hate the color of the building. Does not fit into the charm of the Boulevard at all! I looked at my receipt, nothing stating about a sku number being on it for a return. I called the Hayward store and the Assistant Manager told me nicely I could bring them there for my return. Just left Dollar Tree in Castro Valley, I am handicap and was in need of using the restroom. There was no sign on the male or female bathroom door saying out of order. I Ask Randall the acting manager for the key and he replied sarcastically that I should have used the bathroom before I left home. Randall was racist, rude, obnoxious with a very bad attitude. I come here almost every week and majority of the staff is extremely friendly and helpful and even know me as a regular customer already. Unfortunately, I had the most disappointing experience from one staff member I believe her name is Bianca. I was searching for a specific merchandise and could not find it so I asked her for some help, I still could not find it so I asked her another time and she seemed to be annoyed, gave me an attitude, went to go get it and instead of nicely handing it to me she threw it in front of me and walked away. Would give 0 stars if that was an option, but one for my online pickup experience, which went smoothly. Then two days later, we tried to see if we can exchange some defected chargers that had a completely different color tone. As we entered the shop with two cases, the guy who was the assistant manager said "I'm out!" to the other employee, who I later learned was the b!tchiest manager I've ever encountered in my life. Her name is Saniz, and when we asked her if we can exchange some of these charger platers, that would be great! I was very nice in my request. In return, she tells me with her RBF and emotionless face that they sell NO chargers here. They don't have ANY and I would need to call corporate number. When I picked up my order two nights ago, the very nice manager told me they had a lot of cases in the back. I told her this and she replied, "No we don't have any." I have a lot of tolerance for dumba$$es like her but seeing that she's a decently paid MANAGER makes me so angry. AT LEAST DON'T LIE! Just say you can't exchange since they were not broken in half or whatever reason you can come up with. We later found 30 of the same chargers in the store and as I was waiting in line to ask the cashier, Saniz left for her shift! So I'm sure she basically didn't want to help anybody since she was about to go home in 10 minutes but instead lost a customer to this exact location due to her terrible attitude.
