I stopped by on a random Saturday afternoon because I noticed this place had a bunch of tables outside and a small crowd. To my delight, there were so many awesome things for sale -- kitchenware, postcards, accessories, clothing, decor, etc. It was so fun looking through everything and things were very reasonably priced (no sticker shock like shopping at Goodwill these days!) and in good shape. The best part was the owner who was such a delightful lady! She was super fun and engaging all sorts of people in fun conversations. She was also so patient with a bunch of high school girls sorting through endless jewelry and checked in respectfully with everyone perusing. There seemed to be a few regulars who were also chatting it up with guests so it felt like a little warm, inviting community! read more

Yesterday I found out about this plus size consignment boutique on a facebook forum and I had to check it out. I googled and found nothing but this yelp page. I decided to go and check out the store in person. When I got to Castro Valley I couldn't find the store. There are three different parking lots with little stores in them all in the same area. I called the store and a sweet sounding lady gave me directions to which lot the store was in (the L shape lot with the gym near the street). I was able to locate the store and went inside. I slipped in the back and started looking around. The store had three rounders of clothing, one marked 50% off, two racks with clothing on each side, a back wall of dresses, and a corner of shoes. There were also new purses and jewelry. I found a few things and went to try them on. There are three LARGE fitting rooms. This was very nice because there is actually room to move around while trying on the clothing. A woman and her husband run this boutique. They were both very nice. I overheard their conversations with a few different customers who seemed to be regulars. I like that they build relationships with their customers. I was offered a consignment informations sheet, which gives all the details about bringing back clothing to consign. I will be doing this soon. The only reason I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the lack of a website or a facebook page. I feel that having these two items would bring in the younger plus size crowd and more contemporary plus size fashion. read more

Dress up Consignment is a consignment shop that specializes in Plus Size Clothing, sizes 12-26, that is tucked away in a small shopping center in Castro Valley. reasonably priced, great customer services, and great seasonal selection of clothing and outerwear. I recently cosigned a huge amount of clothing here and have been happy with the service as well as finding a few times to take home with each trip. Rene is smart about what she takes in and keeps a great selection of new jewelry and purses as well. As a shrinking woman, it is helpful to be able to sell some of my nicer more fashionable clothes that I felt unsure about sending to Thrift Town. Shrinking sizes means needing to buy all new clothes, Dress up Consignment has given me the opportunity to recoup some of the money lost in a wardrobe that no longer fits. read more

This boutique actually feels like one--clothes & accessories are nicely displayed, & easy to reach; also wonderful dressing rooms Renee is friendly &helpful, and knowledgable as an experienced business owner who understands the shopping experience. Dress Up opened in March 2013, & I've already bought a number of quality items here! They carry many brand names, and she only consigns items in great condition. I became a consignor in early June. Her pricing is very moderate and its a 50/50 split for a 90 day consignment; prices going to 50% in the final 30 days. As their selection is so good, I often stop by when doing my local errands, and Renee was more than willing to check my balance,and even pay out a small balance. Of course, its very easy to spend your money right there in the store---but its not the type of place that MAKES you take store credit--they give you cash, ladies!! Of my summer items, half sold; and I was able to pick up my remaining items; not forced to "donate" unless I wanted to. I already have an appt. to bring in fall items, as this owner has proven to be professional and trustworthy. This store is building a great reputation, and is a nice alternative to the low-star store in the Lucky's Ctr. As this store isn't really visible from the street, she uses a sandwich board to catch attention of folks going into the CV Village, or traversing Santa Maria Ave, & also makes a point of doing great window displays. My only negative is that I wish she was open BOTH weekend days--both as a consignor, and as a shopper--AND till 6pm! ....Also its just a little dangerous for my "cute jackets" addiction... read more

I love coming in here, both to browse and to consign. The owner is super friendly and has a very fair consigning policy. She really strives to have happy shoppers and happy consigners and does a great job of putting out the cutest clothes in plus sizes (I think it's 11 and up), a nice selection of shoes, lots of great handbags. Today, I even saw some Coach bags. And everything is reasonably priced. To top it off, it looks, feels and smells nice and fresh in her shop; the dressing rooms are some of the nicest and most comfortable I've seen and her presentation has been immaculate every time I've come in. She even called me to remind me to pick up some of my go backs. Thank you! :) Update, as a consigner: Dress Up consignment is a MUCH nicer shop than the other consignment shop I reviewed. When I was last there, she paid cash and was very honest. She sees clothes by appointment, clean, pressed, etc. In short, you can't come in with everything crammed and wrinkled in a garbage bag. She's pretty selective, but she probably took more than half of my things to consign. Of that, I opted to have what was unsold returned and probably half came back. I recommend this place to shoppers and consignors, alike. read more

This store is cute though I am not a curvaceous women-size 12 and up which this store is for. I am in love with their purses. They have a good selection of contemporary jewelry as well as vintage. Owners are very friendly and know names of frequent customers that come in. I liked that they didn't emphasize that their store was for sizes 12 and up like most plus size stores do when I walk in. I found a cute purse that I decided I would turn into a diaper bag I will most definitely be going back! read more

Renee is a true retail professional. Most consignment shops that I have dealt with are really pretty awful and they are very disorganized and unfortunately I have even dealt with a couple that were very dishonest. She is extremely honest, has wonderful clothing that is in great shape and still in fashion, she has excellent customer service, and you can get your clothes back if you do not want to donate and they don't mysteriously disappear. Her pricing is very fair and reasonable and it is great to have a shop that specializes in larger sizes. I have recently lost a lot of weight and it has been terrific to turn my old clothes into some new clothes. she sets an appointment with you and you feel like she really knows what will sell and how to price things. She has some new things also and I just love love her purses and jewelry.. And she does such a nice job with merchandising when you walk in you feel like you went into a high ebd boutique. All of her pricing is done on the computer and she generates real price tags and I don't know anyone else in consignment it does that. Plus you get a printout of everything that you consign so it's very easy to keep track of. If you call her she always let you know how much you have waiting for you and is always prompt and giving you your money which is another issue I've had with other consignment shops. She definitely deserves 5 stars for the way that she runs her shop. read more

After a bad accident, I decided to start getting rid of clothing I knew I would never wear again, some of which were dressy things that had never been worn. Because I cannot drive, a friend took the clothing to the store. After a month, my friend went to take more clothing and found that nothing from the original group had sold. After much consideration, I asked my friend to retrieve all my clothing as she was about to leave on an extended trip and this way of selling my clothing didn't seem to be working for me. She called the owner and left a message on Wednesday that she was going to pick up my clothes and went in to pick up my clothes on Thursday. The owner told her she was very inconsiderate. (If you shop there, you know the store is only open on Wednesdays and Thursdays). She nor I understand that statement. No one should be chastised in front of other shoppers for helping a friend. I would have considered consigning with her again when my friend returns, but I would not do that now. read more

I found Dress Up consignment about 2 months ago. I was taking my clothes to Sola Lucy in Montclair but she hardly took anything of mine to sell, even though I had clothes from Chico's, Nordstroms, Calvin Klein, etc. The last time I went there the saleswomwn acted like my clothes were trailer trash quality. I decided that was it. I was bent on finding somewhere else to sell my clothes. Thank heavens I found Dress Up consignment. She takes everything I have unless there are spots or stains. Every time I go there, I end up buying beautiful things because she has lovely things at such reasonable prices. The clothes are stylish and look like new. I am reviewing as a consignor. Up until a couple of years ago, I was a regular consignor for a couple of years with Dress Up. I presented mostly designer labels, nearly new or new with tags. Most items were accepted, and once the consignment term had ended, most were returned to me. I could never understand why. I assumed that either there was a lack of buyers or the items were over priced. But I hung in because I had alot of plus sized clothing. Fast forward to this week. I called Renee to set up an appointment for items to consign. She informed me that she was moving the store to a much smaller space (her current space was curated so beautifully...fun and tasteful with generous room for walking around the store and spacious dressing rooms) and that she would be closing this week and not reopening until March. Her demeanor was cool and unfriendly...very surprising since I had been a regular consignor. Since her business relies on consignors, I would think she would be more gracious. And temporary closure and downsizing can only mean one thing....the business is struggling. Needless to say, I won't be doing business with her. read more

For sizes 12 - 5x - you cannot find a better place to shop in the entire Bay Area. The owner, Renee, only takes clothing/shoes/bags, etc., that have not one loose seam, button, a spot, etc. Her prices are more then reasonable; and her selection of jewelry is exceptional and also not pricey. If you've not been to this shop - you have to try it. Better buys in excellent condition are not available at any other consignment shop. read more

I thought this was a great place at first also, I actually thought that the owner valued my business and friendship. Then I guess I didn't read my contract and asked to have my things pulled because of an unexpected 4 month trip with my husband on sabbatical. The owner never said a word to me about the contract requirements at the time I asked her to pull my things because they would be otherwise donated before we returned home. Unaware of her being angry at me I went to her shop today and she refused to take my clothes or ever do business with me again. I think a conversation about or reminder of my contract would have been nice. I am not a difficult person to get along with. I even gave her a pair of pants or two, she said she needed and did not ask her to pay for them. I am hurt by her lack of communicating and lack of compassion. She is not the person I would have thought she was before. I would not recommend doing business with her because she can be very thoughtless. read more
