Sure the prices of gone up a little bit but that's okay, they're buying quality. The Castro Valley locations the one closest to my house. I went there on December 23rd to buy some candy for my mom for Christmas. The line was pretty long but they had it pretty well organized. Didn't take long at all. The staff was very friendly! Got some candies here while waiting for some photos at Walgreens next door. Got most of what I needed for Christmas but needed a few half boxes of my Uncles Luxury Blend ™ and so I got that here today. My uncle has a magical collection of specific candies that he desires. He lives in CT and so he can't them himself and I think online specific blends are difficult - its easy to buy certain ones online but much more difficult to have to just so. I usually add a few decorative candies that you can't buy behind the counter. One with a wreath on it - it adds a little color and style. To do that you have to buy separately and finish the box on your own. Perhaps they would do that for you - but it would be confusing to pay for since the decorative candies are much more expensive per pound. People love Sees for Christmas - just give them what they want - not some more junk they don't need off Amazon. read more

Had such an amazing time finally visiting see's candies. Ive been holding onto a one pound gift certificate that my mom gave me years ago and I finally redeemed. I love the ladies working here. They are so sweet and so amazing. Very knowledgeable of what they are selling. I was honestly taking a little bit longer and she had me taste whatever I wanted to taste since I was trying to fill a one pound box. Is it expensive yes lol but is it good yes. Called in advance to see if they had a product in stock before I made the drive, and the woman I spoke with over the phone was not only helpful with providing me information on where I can find more, but was extremely kind! She GLADLY held the item I was looking for until I got there (everything they had in stock), most places I feel, always gives folks a hard time when it comes to hard to find items by limiting what they can hold or not hold it for the customer at all, so I was very appreciative when she said she would hold them for me and to take my time coming. Upon arrival, you can find See's in a plaza where parking is a bit tight but they have a spot designated to See's for Pick Up. I approached the register and mentioned to the woman I was there to pick up an item I called to place on hold for me, after confirming my name, she went to the back and grabbed them for me and proceeded with ringing me and handing me my sample :) This is a bit out of my way but if you live or are near here, make a stop at this specific location as it's clean and friendly! read more

Second time visiting the store, not a good experience both times. The latest time, I was here to but chocolate for Mother's Day. Brought the chocolate to my mom, opened the box, and there were inks on the chocolate. I guess the ink from the flyer got pressed against the chocolate. I had to waste time to bring it back to the store, they were okay replacing the chocolate, but no apology! The worse part was when they gave me back the box of chocolate, where it was two layers... are now only one layer! They were trying to say that it was by weight but I paid more than one pound before. Long story short, I demanded the same amount of chocolate since it's an even exchange. I shouldn't have to argue and convince the staff to get the same amount of chocolate back! My wife called before we headed here (many items on the website are sold out, and two of the items that my mom wanted can't be found on it). The young woman that she talked to was quick and friendly. Like the other ones that I've been to, the shop is kind of small. Still, it's spacious inside (only at the end was someone in my way). I was also impressed at how many items there are to buy (when I was growing up, a See's shop would really only sell a few things). There are even Hanukkah items now. The 3 employees were nice and worked well as a team. We were promptly helped, and were in and out in about 7 minutes. An elderly couple came in after us. After a minute, the man was politely told that he needed to put on a face mask. His wife scolded him like he was a child. "You have to put on a face mask. It's a California law..." (The man complied after a minute. Lemme preface this by saying this is long ass overdue.. Last week (Saturday, the 8th I called and Sunday the 9th I picked it up) I decided to do something nice for someone and get them a pound of there favorite candy which is both milk chocolate vanilla buttercream candy and milk chocolate raisins. Like a dumb ass I was in San Ramon, looked it up on Yelp and saw that they were already closed AND weren't open on Sundays. I NEEDED this item by Sunday because that is when I needed to have it to give to my buddy. So I see that Castro Valley was closing in 5 minutes! Went to this location about a few weeks ago on a Saturday. There was only one employee helping people out, while the other employees were heard in the back talking and laughing. The employee helping customers out seemed to be overwhelmed, I don't blame her. It was busy and her coworkers are just sitting in the back laughing. The employee offered the other customers free samples except for me. Not that it matters, but they only bought a few pieces. I bought two one pound boxes and wasn't given any samples. Could've just been that the employee was overwhelmed. It is the holiday season, more employees should be in the front. Especially if it's a weekend day during the holidays. Nice to see this store in The Village. As a kid, I used to have to hit the mall in StoneRidge to get a See's craving met. Now, I can walk into this super tidy store while visiting family still back in CV and pick up a lollipop or a gift box of chocolate for my mom. My dad loves their mints, so I'll pick up a box of those, too, if I know they're out. Today, sweet and helpful cashiers offered samples and explained what they knew of their candy. The smell is always something that remains the same, almost vanilla-like mixed with chocolate. I picked up a variety box of pops, some dark chocolate almonds, and a box of mints for my dad. I was the only one in the store for the first few mins...I always have See's gift certificates and once a year I will go into the store and get a one pound box of my favorite candies....nuts/chews...but certain ones. So as always, they offer me a free sample. And so I proceed to fill my box with pecan roll, scotch mallow, toffee-ettes, pecan buds, and caramel chews! And that's on every single day from a regular day when there's no customers to even a crazy busy day during holidays like Christmas when there's a line out the door. It's like whoever trains people there requires that every single employee is even sweeter than the candy. There are See's Candy places all over, and the quality of the candy in every store is totally top shelf. But this particular store's employees are just super special. I've never been helped by any employee in this place that doesn't seem to give the best possible customer service. I don't know how they manage this, but somebody is doing something right because it's a pleasure to go in there every single time.
