We talked as she waited on other customers. She was very polite, kind and just a whole vibe. The item I purchased. I said it's a gift for my daughter. She said would u like me to wrap it in tissue paper. I said wow thank u but no thank you. She said well im here to please! It was amazing! Then I saw puzzles 40%off. I said my cousin and myself loves puzzles. I saw a cat one for her. I said oh this is a must have! She loves cats! The cashier in front greeted me b4 I could reach the register. He also said if there is anything I can help u with. Please let me know. He said and when you're ready to check out I'm available. An employee walked in. He made a small finger gesture to his boss. Maybe she wasn't suppose to work. I don't know! However, unlike the cashier on New Years he didn't talk until he was finished with me. And he was super young! Waited about 20 minutes in line while the only open register was a trainee stuck processing a SINGLE return. Manager and trainee ignoring the cluster of customers building up. No apology. No explanation. No effort to move things along. Just one long line of people standing there like idiots while nothing happened. This is basic retail management and somehow it's still a disaster here. It's AD 2026 and this store still runs a system like it's 1985. After 20 minutes of watching absolutely nothing happen, I literally threw the items I was holding onto the counter where the cashier was and stormed out. Only then did the manager suddenly decide to react and come after me. Completely unacceptable customer service and total disregard for anyone waiting in line. By the way, their fabric section sucks. They have a wonderful selection of Autumn and Christmas decor, craft, floral and activities. I was in search of a stained glass Autumn kit so that I could my a silicone inlay for an upcoming resin project. The images are adorabe, the prices are reasonable and at the time I went, both Autumn and Christmas items (excluding food) were 40 / 50% off. Their Christmas decor is absolutely beautiful. I walk around the store feeling like I'm in a Winter Wonderland. Please note that all Hobby Lobbys are closed on Sundays. Also along with that, they don't sell Halloween items. I hate hobby lobby!!! *Every* time I come here I get stuck in a mile long line with the only cashier processing a return for what feels like a lifetime. Other employees standing nearby yapping to each other, no manager in sight after cashier called for help to get a code to process the return. How are there a bunch of employees throughout the store and no other registers open when there are 30 people in line??? Had to leave my stuff on a nearby counter and leave because I don't have hours to spend waiting in line. I'll be sure to clear my entire week's schedule before coming here again. The fabric selection here is great. Prices are good (during sale weeks). Sad that they make the purchasing process such a nightmare. read more

I went here with my family yesterday. The store is closed on Sundays (it has to do with the Sabbath), and so it's good that I checked the hours earlier. There are 3 ways to get to the store. There only seem to be 3 registers total. Some candy was sold out. The shelves were otherwise full. There are codes for the restrooms (unless it changes, the code for the men's restroom is 1019). I was annoyed, but I quickly found an employee. The men's restroom is large and very nice. "Friend of God": An instrumental version of a worship song was playing shortly after we arrived. Ok, they have the stuff my wife is after. Not all of the stuff but enough that we come here. I wait outside in the comfort of the truck, rather than endure the excruciatingly long wait to pay for what you selected. Tonight I decided to come in after 10 minutes. Something is really really wrong about the was they cash you out. Part of it is policy built in to add to the already long wait. If you HAVE to come here, maybe try waiting at the door to be first in line at opening time? They do have some chairs in the lobby so that your favorite friend has somewhere to wait and wait, then wait more. I could have written 2 or three reviews while sitting, waiting. Hobby heaven, but be prepared to go through hell to pay! Shouldn't take 30 minute to pay for what you want to buy. 2 stars! read more

Customer service is horrible but the items are great. We're never greated, employees seem mad, too much talking to each other instead of assisting the customer. Lines are too long and they're plenty of employees in the store to help, manager just stands around instead of helping out with the 1 cashier who has a long line. I've been dragging my feet to to visit and finally did. I purchased a ton of craft materials and tools and was so excited to get to use it. For the tool set, it was taped so I figured it was not tampered with. In addition, I also knew I'd forget the names of the tools so I cut the descriptions that were on the box for my memory and to make it easier to find when following tutorials. BIG MISTAKE because I did not check to see if all the tools were even in there and it's missing two tools (see image). There is no point in bringing it back for a possible exchange or refund because how can I prove that they were missing? I wish there were better oversight. I will take accountability for not fully inspecting out of excitement! Despite that, staff were helpful and speedy around 11am today. read more

If you like to partake in any arts and crafts activities then you know that shopping online for your material is not the same. For one, you want your things immediately so you can start your project but also its always nice to see the color or feel the item, something that online shopping cant do. Since Joann's closed in Fremont and we only have Michaels then I decided to check this place out. This store is huge compared to Michaels and they have more things like fabric. Walking through the aisles, I noticed that everything was organized and clean. Prices are hit and miss, meaning that I think some things are cheaper than in other places and other things are more expensive. As others mentioned, there are no barcodes on any of the items, leaving customers frustrated. If you Google why they dont have barcodes then I respect that, to each their own. But when you are talking about a store of that magnitude with thousands of items and with sales on top of that, human error is to be expected. If you buy one item, its easy to keep track if there is a sale or not on that item based on a sign in front of the item in the aisle. You also then have to see that the right price and the sale is applied to the item at the register. If you are buying a lot of different items, this is a headache to keep track if accurate prices are reflected in the total. Plus not to mention that the lines can get looooooong as the cashier is inputting everything by hand. If you are going to come....plan your time accordingly or brace yourself with a lot of patience. I know that cant always be the case. Parking is plentiful. Restrooms----you need a code to enter. There seemed to be a lot of staff working, stocking items but only two cashiers at the main entrance. Our cashier was nice, but no one else went out of their way to greet us. Is this place a good alternative to all of your arts and crafts needs....maybe? Depends on your craft, but overall if you havent been, then see it for yourself, it may work for you. Word of advice here...be mindful when checking out. read more

Newly open and good first impressions. 40% off furniture and a great entrance lured me in. Fake flowers, yarn of every variety, wall decoration, holiday decor, shelves, leather and real rabbit skin - the variety is overwhelming. Friendly staff and everything perfectly clean. As I entered they were cleaning the entrance floor to perfection. I liked that great first impression. I bought a fake book to hide things in and a shelf for the bathroom. I like in a Victorian and you need to do what you can to deal with the limited counter space. read more

Hobby Lobby is located at the old Dicks location, which was previously Kohls, and even before that, Mervins. Lol Hobby Lobby has a bunch of stuff. From fabric to coffee mugs. And faux flowers to baseball caps. Is a Christian based store, closed on Sundays. Lots of spiritual and gospel literature which I can appreciate. As of today, they have their Valentine, St Patrick's and Easter decor displayed. Not one Black History item in sight. They don't have a variety of vinyl or paint brands. Everything is mainly their signature brand. Their items do not possess bar codes. So they manually type every price in. They also MANUALLY input the sales percentage advertised. My friend and I go to hobby Lobby all the time. Today though, my friend and I, around 2PM. We went in like normal just checking out the beads, fabric, etc. I wasn't paying attention until I notice an older round white lady with short blonde hair. Following my friend and I. Once she noticed that I noticed she was following me, then she had calling Hayward PD. So my friend just got the stuff she wanted and we were paying. While paying she stood by and said "If you have anything else in your bag, pay for it now". I said "We don't" and just left. Then she said "Have a nice day", she didn't even apologize. I'm not sure what made her think we stole but I think she maybe was judging us not sure why though. read more

I'm 7 months pregnant and was harassed at the store today at 4:15pm by a man in line who kept turning around and making rude remarks to me. When I didn't respond he then purposely stepped back into my cart and then said " oh you are pushing your cart into me?" It was a very distressing situation bc I was feeling targeted. The worst is when I stood up for myself to say It wasn't ok to treat me like that, the cashier " Alina G " basically told me stay quiet. I felt so betrayed by this female cashier bc this man was clearly harassing me. The cashier was a younger girl, dark straight hair in a ponytail ( I found her name on my receipt afterwards) She not only completely dismissed the situation that I was being mistreated by the man she was ringing up at the register, but she started to push blame on me saying that everyone needs to get along and I shouldn't complain - she said It really loud to get me to stay small and quiet. I was completely appalled at her behavior - Maybe she knew him and was covering for his bad behavior which is only possible reason I could think of for the way she reacted. After I left the store I felt emotionally distressed because of the cashier and will never be returning to this store. The cashier did not care about the safety of her customers, especially a pregnant woman who was standing alone in line when a man was harassing her. I have never had this kind of experience in my life and hope that the staff is better trained bc this cashier was horrendous and shouldn't be in any customer service type role. read more

I love coming to hobby lobby I go at least once a week but I will never be coming back to this location again. My friend and I noticed this audit lady following us around the store. At first I didn't think much of it but we were seeing her constantly. I don't know why she thought we were stealing, maybe it was because I'm not white and I was wearing a nice bag. I finally got the register to pay and this old blonde lady says "If you have anything else in your bags pay for it now." I heard over the radio that she had called hayward pd also. I paid for everything and then she said "Have a nice day." Not an apology ever came out of her mouth or the employees. I come here ALL the time! I like it here! But this experience was so embarrassing, I don't ever want to come back here. Framing department is very unprofessional. I dropped off a project to have three items framed, there was no receipt, they just wrote my name and number on the back of a piece of paper. I walked away, unsure, but decided to give it a try. Big mistake! I called every other day to see if the project had been done or either started, there's only one person who does the framing and he was never in. The lady who answered the phone acted as if I was disturbing her. She kept saying he was not in the store today and basically he'll get to it when he gets to it, because there are some bigger custom projects that has to be worked on. Needless to say, I just went in unannounced and asked for my items back. They didn't even try to say oh we can put a rush on it, we know we've had your items over a week now, just nothing. The cashier punched in every item by hand. Slowly. Blankly. She seemed confused when I asked about the scanner. She and an assistant manager struggled to find the right price, entered the wrong one, then when we found the right price she charged us that price...without taking off the initial wrong price. I'd say that is not true. This store is a good size and has quite the variety of items and also offers the cutest fabrics. I left with quite a few items and was happy with my purchase. I did notice the bathroom requires a code which can be an inconvenience if you're needing the restroom but don't have the code. Also the staff is kind of odd here. Just picked up a custom framing order and I couldn't be more pleased! Sydnee (hope that's right because she was awesome) in the frame shop was wonderful. She was so patient as I asked a million questions and tried a million different combinations of frame and matting. It was a bit of a complicated project but she came up with ideas and solutions that worked perfectly. With her help my project was so much nicer than I'd pictured and I absolutely love it. Price was fair but her expertise and kindness were priceless! read more

I go to this Hobby store for the Die Cast cars. But haven't had much luck. Maybe once in a while I'll find something that I like. I've asked the manager there what days they are restocking. I got a reply of "it could be Tuesday at the end of the day or Wednesday, because a lot of collectors will wait the whole day for the boxes to be put out and look through them" . Manager did seem annoyed that I was asking. By the time I go again, everything in that aisle looks like nothing was ever restocked. Either they put everything out when they get new stuff and it's gone in 2 days or they keep a lot of it in the back. I wouldn't put it pass the employees getting the sought after cars and putting out the same stuff,that's already on display. It happens at Walmart and Target. read more

I've shopped at the hobby lobby at southland mall often. Each time Ive gone in I've purchased cool stuff but my experience today greatly dissapointed me. Everytime I've gone in I've entered with my scooter because that's my main transportation and it's never been an issue for me. The employees there have always been so nice and helpful but I was shocked today. Upon me entering I get yelled at by an employee named Kristi saying "HEY YOU CANT BE IN HERE! YOU HAVE TO LEAVE YOU CANT BE IN HERE!" I asked her what was wrong and she replied with "we are not responsible for what happens with your scooter." It's not gas powered or anything just a basic scooter. Despite my shock, out of respect I ask her "well can I leave it up front with you guys then or somewhere safe and she said "No you have to get out". I told her that I am a loyal customer and that I love hobby lobby and that it's disappointing that I have to leave. I leave the store and since I work in the same mall I just drop it off in my stores break room and return because I really wanted there amazing fabrics for a room project. When I came back in the employees working in the fabric department reminded me of why I shop there- because Amy and Jazmine were so helpful, sweet, and respectful and even apologized to me on behalf of the store for how Kristi treated me earlier. Overall if you plan on shopping there it will be a great experience as long as you stay out of Kristis vicinity because she gives off an unbelievably inhospitable energy. read more
