Loved this place and all they have to offer. Was proud to be able to support this local business that has such unique offerings from a special part of the world. You can't find or buy most of what they have anywhere else. It makes for a great treat or gift to give to those you're visiting or making your own creative goodie bags with all of your favorite treats. The strawberries with Nutella on it are on another level as well. I will definitely be back and I encourage you to check it out for yourself!

Felt so nice to see and support a Palestinian owned shop here in Hayward. I really hope they flourish! I got various chocolates and other items (as seen in my pic). The place is pricey, but to be expected since they're considered more "novelty" over here. I assume the gentleman working that day was the owner, but I didn't ask. He was knowledgeable and friendly. I'll definitely comeback to support them again and maybe get some Arabic coffee.

We came here after eating out in Hayward and were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted upon entering and then gravitated toward the chocolate truffle bins. It's nice because you can fill in your bags with whatever chocolates you like. We got 1-2 of the flavors that intrigued us and ate them within a week. We had truffles with digestive cookies, biscoff cream (delicious), chocolates with almond, truffles with cream cream cheese filling, pistachio cream, and then other unique chocolate delicacies from the middle eastern region. We liked everything except for the walnut chocolates. For a small bag full of chocolates, we paid around $11 though it's about $25 per pound. We would come back here during the winter to buy some of these chocolates for friends and family. We were very happy with our visit and will definitely return!

The service was amazing, such friendly vibes and all the chocolate to indulge from with a huge variety! 10/10

I've been here a couple times. It's a quaint place. It's a hidden gem for Hayward and I'm so glad they opened. The owners are down to earth and welcoming. They have two small tables for seating to have a quick bite of your desserts or drink Turkish coffee. They have a variety of selection of gummies, sweets, chocolates, Dubai chocolates, olives, nuts, Turkish delights. I've gotten their Dubai chocolate as well as the chocolate, strawberry Dubai cup (very tasty). Friends have gotten Turkish delights here and I do enjoy it with tea. I have yet to try their Turkish coffee, but hope to try it one day. I love how they make bouquets out of chocolate. Great place for gifts and treats.

Came here specifically to try the viral Dubai chocolate. This Palestinian-owned store is a hidden gem tucked right next to Susie Q Pizza in Hayward. They carry an impressive selection of sweet treats, Turkish delights, chocolate strawberries, Turkish coffee, and a wide variety of chocolates that make it almost impossible to choose just one. The Dubai chocolate, especially the pistachio and kanafe , was absolutely delicious. One large bar cost $25 which was perfect for sharing. I also tried their Turkish coffee--bold and very aromatic . A must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth or a love for Middle Eastern treats! They also roast their own nuts. Family owned store where they provide best service and make sure you leave happy.

Everything we've gotten here has been delicious! We came here on a weekend and it was heart warming to see that they had folks supporting this small business. We got a couple different kinds of Turkish delight as well as some mixed snacks. Additionally, it's super cute to see the kids helping out the family business. They were super helpful and gave us honest answers when we asked which flavors they liked best.

Been meaning to check out this local gem for awhile & came in when I saw their 1 year celebration & fundraiser via Instagram. Really lovely & tidy inside, street parking was plentiful, was offered help quickly but also given space to browse. I bought some Turkish delight, several dark chocolates to try & 2 Palestine colas ( had these at a friends' party & liked it) Too bad I was already caffeinated as I'd like try the Turkish coffee. Will be back.

Let me start by saying : We need more shops like this !!! In the meantime this one gets all my attention ! I originally came for the Dubai chocolate and left with so much more !!! Clean, friendly and full of amazing beautiful surprises! Chocolate, Turkish delights, nuts, tea, olives even pomegranate molasses! It was so hard to peel Myself away from the treats and restrict myself ! Even my husband the picky one started pointing things out to grab. I am in love with this little shop that feels like walking in into someone's pantry of love ! Please check it out leave with a smile and a full heart !

Came here since my friend raved about their Dubai chocolate . She told me the man there let you samples anything you want in the store. When I got there on a Saturday afternoon, I saw a man in the front and a lady in the back. The lady asked me what I was looking for and I said Dubai chocolate. She told me where the bars are. And I asked if I could sample it. She first said no! She didn't sound too welcoming. Then she said "you can try the individually wrapped ones." So we tried out the dark and milk Dubai chocolate. The dark was very good. Not bitter. Ratio of chocolate and fillings was good. The milk one was a bit too sweet for my taste. So I got a bar of dark Dubai chocolate. They actually ran out of the milk one. I didn't sample other chocolate like my friend did since the lady didn't offer. For $25 a bar, it's pricey but this is viral now so that's why they increased the price so quickly . It was $14 5 months ago!

This cute new Turkish delight spot is a new hidden gem in Hayward. It fits right into the neighborhood! The store is super clean and filled with all kind of goodies! I love their Dubai chocolate as well as their mixed nuts they sell. It near downtown Hayward and is a great go to for unique sweets and they have an amazing chocolate strawberry Dubai cup that I'm addicted to!

Pistachio and chocolate. Enough said! Old City Roastery commands a presence in downtown Hayward as likely the only shop selling the infamous Dubai chocolate (chocolate bar with pistachio filling) in addition to a variety of nuts, chocolates, and sweets. If you're a fan of pistachio, this is a must visit for you! This mom and pop shop operates just a block away from the theater and public parking. It started up shop relatively recently (about 5 months ago) so I'm not surprised if it hasn't yet gotten the foot traffic it deserves. But if you happen to be free to come by, you need to make your way and stock up on some of their delicious chocolates. At $25 a bar for their Dubai chocolate bar or a pound of their individually wrapped chocolates, it's quite pricey but the quality is definitely worth it. Coming in milk and dark chocolate varieties, the pistachio loaded Dubai chocolate bar is a decadent treat fit for royalty, and you, my friend, can follow the figuratively red carpet through their doors to grab your own. As you crunch into the perfectly tempered chocolate exterior, you are met with a green, rich and nutty interior bursting with pistachio. This is just the start as you'll find that one bite is just not enough; one row may not be enough; one bar may not be enough! And if you happen to be adventurous, you pay by the pound for the individual chocolates so go wild and mix and match to come up with the perfect bag. Are you a purist or looking to get a tasting menu of sorts? Why not both?! When I happened to come in during my visit, specifically looking for the Dubai chocolate bar, I was greeted by the friendly shopkeepers who offered some Turkish coffee while I browsed. They even allowed me to sample one of the individual pieces before stuffing my bag with more of their goodies. In addition to all the chocolates and gummies that were available, they also had some exports including this really interesting pistachio cream (like a spread for toast). I was literally a kid in a candy shop and was tempted to buy a bit of everything. With a little self control, I was able to limit my purchases to just the chocolates and the cream but I cannot wait until the next time I am back to try more of their treats. The Dubai chocolates were great gifts for friends and family - most of whom didn't even know what Dubai chocolates were (granted I didn't know either until I had a taste of Old City Roastery's at an event). Overall, Old City Roastery is certainly a niche shop but if sweets are on the menu, this is the destination. With a convenient location, clean storefront, welcoming staff, and probably some of the best chocolates you'll have, you'll go nuts and get chocolate wasted simultaneously for this little gem in Hayward. If you happen to be in the area, I highly recommend stopping by here and picking something up to eat on the spot or to bring home and enjoy with friends and family. This local business is making a splash and I sure hope Dubai chocolate bars are here to stay because by golly, Old City Roastery has got the recipe down perfectly!

Turkish coffee- sitting at their cafe tables

Like everyone else on the internet, I came across The Old City Roastery because of the viral Dubai chocolate that's been trending nonstop--and lucky for me, it's just down the street. Of course I had to check it out. The shop is solid and filled with the kindest, most welcoming people. I went in for the Dubai chocolate bars (yes, the famous $25 ones) and have been slowly savoring them over the last few weeks--they're rich, luxurious, and honestly live up to the hype. While I was there, I grabbed a cup of Turkish coffee (coffee addict here ‍) and started chatting with the woman working the front. She was incredibly sweet and gave me her personal recommendations--turns out we both lean more savory than sweet, and she pointed out some of their roasted nuts. After I paid, my husband and I ended up hanging out at one of the little tables by the front of the shop, sipping coffee and people-watching. A few minutes later, she came over with a sample of the nuts she mentioned--totally unprompted--and I loved them so much I went back to buy a bag. That kind of thoughtful, warm service really stuck with me. I'm definitely planning to go back soon. I want to try their Turkish delights and one of those strawberry Dubai fruit cups next. If you're in the area--or even if you're just hunting down that trending chocolate--this place is absolutely worth the stop. Great products, great people, and a great reason to support a small local business.

I remembered a place on Jackson Street that I had gone to 5 years ago that had a tremendous selection - looked it up on Yelp and it was no longer on Jackson, but was listed in Castro Valley. So we went thought we'd go by and give it a try. Great decision! The "new" store in Castro Valley is much brighter, cleaner, nicer than the old location. I think the old location had more stuff from Eastern Europe, but this new location seems to have a broader selection, with more stuff from Western Europe and the Middle East. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and helpful - always willing to answer questions and even give tips on how to use the products that they sell. And his recommendations have been great - we asked him about which tahini and zaatar to get (they have many different brands/types of each...) and the ones he recommended have been way tastier than any of the brands that you find in most markets. Especially good was his recommendation on lebnah - he said that the brands they carry are all good, but they have some that they package in-house that was special. I tried it - it was less expensive than the other brands, but was the very best lebnah that I have ever tasted! Richer, creamier, with just the right amount of tang. Wonderful stuff! If you're into unique flavors...especially Asian-inspired ones....you must try their malasadas. The…read moredough is soft and pillowy while the cream is light and fresh. They're a bit pricey at $6.50+ each, but with many rotating creative flavors, it's hard to not pick just one. The Ube malasada did not taste artificial nor was it too sweet. I like to think they are poi malasadas haha It would be nice if their hours were more consistent since seasonal flavors sell out quickly. I find their service to be quick and their shop can ridiculously busy and packed. There is limited seating, but the place is clean and well-kept. I would come here if I am back in Union City.

That donut was completely gone by the time it was my turn. It makes no sense not to have limits on popular items. Then, while I was waiting in line, a woman that came after me apparently told her friend in the back which donuts she wanted, and they took most of the remaining donuts before people actually waiting in line could order. I drove all the way there and barely got anything because of how unfairly and poorly this place is run. The donuts may be good, but the way they handle orders and lines is terrible. Don't waste your time unless you get there extremely early.

In short, disorganized, bad parking situation, mediocre service…read more I am not usually one to get so harsh on a place but my experience today at this Paris Baguette has put me off this location long term. I usually go to the Pleasanton spot but happened to be nearby and wanted to get a cake for Mother's day. I understand that because it is a holiday that they were going to be busy, but it was incredibly disorganized inside with people cutting in and out of line at the counter and the staff were too busy to redirect customers or take orders. Incredibly frustrating as there were several instances of people just cutting their way in line and just placing their orders/getting served ahead of everyone else by just walking straight up to the register. When it came to my turn the staff asked for my order then turned around and instead went and took care of someone who had cut in front straight to the register to buy bread when I had already been waiting in line for awhile. They did not even bother asking if they had been waiting there before or had cut the line, the staff just skipped me just because that person had gone straight up to the register. Incredibly frustrating situation and I just did not want to get into it with the line cutter or the staff. Was still able to pick up the cake but I would skip this place since they can't even set up a system for a line/queue. Go to the Pleasanton spot instead and skip this spot.
