I love this place, everything is beautifully displayed and freshly made. The doughnut texture and filling are always light and fluffy, not too sweet. Everything I tried is so delicious. My first time trying a black sesame latte and that was really good! Great customer service, super friendly.
This quaint shop offers a variety of pastries with varying flavors. They also offer beverages. I opted for hojicha, coffee and vanilla crème brûlée, banana bread and pecan chocolate chip cookie. The hojicha is already a strong flavor but the cream was stronger than I anticipated. The vanilla cream was surprisingly not too sweet. The coffee flavor was prominent. The flavors are real ingredients, not artificial. The dough was fluffy and offered a bounce. The banana also had banana slices. If they make this would chocolate chip or walnuts, I would purchase more. My last purchase was the pecan chocolate chip and this was delicious. It was crunchy, chewy, nutty, and packed with a decent amount of chocolate chips. Definitely worth coming back here again to try their other offerings.
We happened to be nearby and were in search of a coffee and Doughweime happened to be in the same shopping complex so we walked over to give it a try. There were a few people in line and it did take about 10 minutes before we were able to order. During that time, some of the malasada flavors ran out, but they were quickly replenished. We grabbed an assortment of flavors, an iced oat latte, and a black sesame latte. The banana creme brulee malasada looked so good that we had to try it in the store while waiting for our drinks. The dough is so soft and pillowy with a crispy layer of bruleed sugar and a delicious banana cream that was absolutely to die for. At $6.50, it's not a cheap treat, but it was super delicious and I'm glad we tried it. The drinks were also great. The espresso shot they pulled perfectly complemented the oat milk -- this is one of the better iced oat lattes I've had. We tried the black sesame latte because it sounded interesting and it was so creamy and loaded with black sesame flavor. For anyone that doesn't drink caffeine, I highly recommend you try the black sesame latte. With such great quality malasadas and drinks, it's no wonder there was a line! We'll definitely be back!
Their flavors are unique but sometimes sell out fast if you don't catch them on time. I actually feel the insides of the malasadas are overfilled/overpowering the soft chewy dough, which is surprising. I do appreciate that the flavors are strong whether it's matcha, black sesame, or what have you. Their items look pleasing to the eye as well. Service is always friendly.
If you're into unique flavors...especially Asian-inspired ones....you must try their malasadas. The dough is soft and pillowy while the cream is light and fresh. They're a bit pricey at $6.50+ each, but with many rotating creative flavors, it's hard to not pick just one. The Ube malasada did not taste artificial nor was it too sweet. I like to think they are poi malasadas haha It would be nice if their hours were more consistent since seasonal flavors sell out quickly. I find their service to be quick and their shop can ridiculously busy and packed. There is limited seating, but the place is clean and well-kept. I would come here if I am back in Union City.
Cute little shop selling a variety of pastries (mostly donuts) and rotating flavors of basque cheesecakes. The donuts are fluffy and the basque cheesecake was creamy and not too sweet. I tried the guava flavor cheesecake which is so unique! The cheesecake is on the pricier side but it's worth it to try it. The worker helping me was nice as well.
This place is a small bakery in the Seafood City Plaza, and I believe it is family owned. They are only open a few days out of the week unfortunately, but they do sell out fast so it's better to go earlier in the day. As for the Malasadas, they have some of the best flavor combinations, and they post their weekly menu on their insta a couple days before. It's about $6 per which is a bit expensive, but it's worth it. The malsadas are not too sweet, and you can just taste the quality. I always stop by when I'm in the plaza for groceries and they never disappoint.
Cute neighbourhood Malasada place with an interesting aesthetic. They have limited seating and usually a line of people queueing up in the store so I think it's mostly a pickup place. We got the vanilla bean mini and the Rocher mini Malasada. The vanilla Malasada was really subtle with fresh cream and vanilla filling. Recommend it if you like your desserts less sweet. The rocher one was sweeter and tasted like a chunky Nutella filling inside their sugar dusted Malasada. We enjoyed both! I appreciate they do the mini versions of some of their flavors now as it allows us to sample more - wish they brought mini versions of all their flavors soon! They minis are a bit on the pricier side at $4.5 each and $6.5 for their full size. Next time I'll try their black sesame latte, which piqued my interest, along with my usual Malasadas.
Gift from friend so review just based on taste. 7/10 Ube mini: filling was very thick consistently close to paste but flavor was solid. Ube flavor was a bit light. Not that sweet 8/10 Passion fruit coconut - strong passionfruit flavor. Very fresh and tart. 9/10 Caramelzied banana - banana was natural and strong in favor. 8/10 mango sago - mango flavor was strong, sago was cooked right, perfect amount of cream and sago. Overall the malasada filling were all rich creamy and very good amount for the size. The doughnut itself was just ok

It felt like luck was against me and I was meant to stick with Bun Appetit, but entering 2026, I finally had enough. I need to try this place and so after confirming they were open (I checked their IG), I came here with my husband on a Saturday morning. First off, it's located in the same plaza as Seafood City. This was also the moment I realized there's a Seafood City in Union City. There's plenty of parking all around and no need to worry about paying. The shop itself is small wit a bench to the side and small outdoor seating. Luckily, it wasn't busy when we swung by so we were able to take our time and review all the options available. The display case of flavors was smaller than what Bun Appetit has to offer, but don't sell them short because of that because Doughweime understands flavor. We opted for a box of 6 minis for my husband's family, a regular sized earl grey and a lemon one for us personally, and their black sesame latte. The latte alone is worth a return visit. The flavor is nice and nutty and not too sweet. The donuts were also pillowy soft and chewy to bite into. Doughweime is worth the attention.

The minis are the perfect size if you want to sample a variety before committing to the larger ones. They're not overly sweet, don't have that oily aftertaste, and are incredibly rich in flavor. I also really appreciate that this business uses natural ingredients--you can truly taste the difference. The service was absolutely wonderful. The family who runs the shop is incredibly kind and welcoming. My husband loved it so much that we went back again the same day! The ambiance is such a vibe--I love the aesthetics of the shop. There is limited seating inside and outside, but there's plenty of parking available in the lot. Highly recommend!
One of many great family-run small businesses in Union City! They are delicious donuts and other pastries with a variety of simple/classic and complex flavors. Menu changes every week, make sure to check out their instagram to see their flavors of the weekend. The customer service is superb! I used to live nearby and would come by every weekend even for just one donut and the cashier remembered me lol i moved a bit further away but I still try to go once or twice a month for a sweet treat. My all time faves: -Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee Malasada -Matcha Nama Donut -Matcha Creme Brulee Malasada -Tangerine Nama Donut -Ube Hawaii Mochi -Dubai Chocolate Malasada A must try :)

2nd time going on my day off and beginning my Labor Day weekend 2026. I had to try this bakery 2nd time, and bought few more of their brioche doughnuts, shiopan,and 1 shiopan banh mi. I know their brioche donut flavors are 9/10. I tried their shio pan pre-lunch. So good and coated with sesame seeds. I'm trying their banh mi served their shiopan. It's served with their own Bo',a Vietnamese mayo, pickled shaved daikon, cucumber and carrot salad, ham. It's so good because the shiopan has acrunchy exteriorbut the sea salt flavor cuts the richness, and tangy pickled flavors of the fillings. This sandwich is delicious, so good and amazing! Menu today is 5/5. Another thing about their shiopan is they perfected their own techniques of creating a baguette substitute and saviry bread vessel. I bought their banh mi, and was so curious and planned to eat it later. After eating a few bites, it is so good. Their bakeshop and café is still quaint, and tgey have outside seating for patrons. Just a quiet place to hangout or chat with friends, or have lunch. Love this bakeshop. read more

The highlights here are the pastries... from the basic vanilla bean malasadas to the highly exotic durian flavored one. I've only tried the vanilla and crispy chocolate ones, working my courage to the durian one. :) But the latte is also pretty good. read more
I went on a Saturday around noon, and most of the flavors were already sold out. They ended up having 2 flavors of their malasadas remaining, alongside some donuts and guava cheesecake. The malasadas were definitely good. It feels like care went into each one--they tasted all homemade and fresh. They definitely did not skimp out on cream or filling. I'm typically not a fan of desserts, but these had the perfect level of sweetness for me. The fruits were nice and ripe as well. The two flavors I got were the blueberry matcha and the mango. The blueberry matcha had this nice rich blueberry jam mixed in with cream that actually has a good matcha taste. The mango one was really fresh--this one was my favorite. Although they aren't cheap at about $6.25 per one, they were definitely delicious. It seems like a family run business that puts a lot of care into their products though. I'll be returning but maybe more as a nice treat rather than a regular go-to. read more

We stopped by about 30 minutes before closing, and almost everything was wiped out! Luckily, I was able to grab their last banana and grape oolong malasadas. They also offer mini ones which I got their ube. They were light, fluffy, soft, and absolutely delicious. Not overly sweet, and each bite made me want to keep eating more. The place was clean and well organized, conveniently located right next to Seafood City. Service was awesome, and I'd definitely come back - just earlier next time so there are more options to choose from! read more
I've been meaning to try their malasadas for a better part of the year - I saw that they were taking preorders and thought it would be the perfect addition to a New Years potluck! I've heard they sell out of their popular flavors pretty early in the day, so I was happy that they do preorders! I ordered 2 boxes, and pickup was seamless - the workers were really friendly as well! First of all, the presentation of these malasadas is incredible, and I love the unique flavors that this bakery has! The flavors of the day were persimmon vanilla, earl grey, raspberry pistachio, creme brulee matcha, strawberry hojicha & strawberrry creme. Since I brought this to a party, I wasn't able to try all the flavors, but the raspberry pistachio & creme brulee matcha went quickly! I only had a taste of the strawberry hojicha - I'm kind of picky with my hojicha, and felt that they flavor of the tea wasn't really apparent. The filling was pretty tart, as strawberries aren't really in season. But the pastry itself was soft, and fluffy, and they definitely do not skimp on the filling! Hopefully I'll be able to come back at some point to try more of their unique flavors! read more
Every-time I come here I'm never disappointed! Granted I'm still hoping I can get that salmon malasadas- I saw it on California Live (TV show and I fell in love!) yet they have yet to serve/offee that malasadas when I come... However- I did hear a handful of people I front of me order the duck egg malasadas, I'm not a fan, but appreciate the uniqueness! Hee. I waited in line maybe 15 mins before I put in my order as well as I am iced coffee. I was so happy with the handful of malasadas I bought as well as my cold brew! I will be back!!! Best malasadas ever! This is coming from someone who finds malasadas so mid. I actually drive out of my way for these because it's so worth it. The flavors are so creative, malasadas light and fluffy with a delicious filling. I wish we could have tried more flavors but the other pastry items caught my eye this visit. Pro tip if you're driving from as far away as I am you can call ahead place your order ahead of time to reserve your favorite flavors. My favorites this time around were the crème brûlée malasada, ube mochi donut, and the Dubai chocolate croissant, I finally get the obsession with the Dubai chocolate! The filling was crunchy, hints of chocolate with pistachio crème flavored kataifi seriously so good and wrapped in a croissant. I could eat the entire thing myself. Since we ordered more of the other flavors we didn't get as many malasadas as planned. Flavors change on a weekly basis but everything I've had from here has been so good and girls working here are so sweet. read more
Had Doughweime bookmarked for a while and I'm glad I finally got to try them out. They have a variety of fried dough donuts, mochi donuts, croissants, and more. They also have a few selections of coffees/teas/lattes as well. Friendly staff and they have a few seating on the inside of the shop and outside. They sell out pretty fast but also are making more throughout the time they're opened. I tried the: Ube pandan mochi donut, 7/10 Hazelnut filled donut 8/10 Roasted chestnut matcha donut 8/10 Black sesame donut 6/10 I loved how everything was just right and not too sweet. read more

We went kinda ham and ordered 7 malasadas: Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée, Ube Coconut, Caramel Apple, Pumpkin Pecan, Mango mini, Guava Cheesecake mini, and Rocher mini. My friend also got the Smoked Salmon malasada. I appreciate how some of the flavors are offered in the mini size - made it easier to try more! A lot of sugar for the morning but never a bad way to start the day. All the malasadas were sooo good. I liked how they didn't skimp out on the filling. My personal favorites were the Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee, Pumpkin Pecan, and Ube Coconut. My friend really liked the Smoked Salmon malasada! I would definitely return. Sometimes they have a savory vegetarian malasada option and I wish they had it regularly - I would come back to try that and other new flavors. Our total came out to ~$60, a little pricey but the flavors are unique and tasty, so I would say it's worth it! read more
Came back again and this donut shop still delivers every time. They do such a great job with unique flavors that actually taste balanced and not overly sweet. Everything is fresh, creative, and consistently good. Definitely one of those places you keep coming back to. read more

this place is located near Seafood city in Union city. a small cute little cafe. their malasadas are fire! unique asian flavors with the right amount of sweetness. this place reminds me of hawaii. I tried their iced latte which I found pretty basic. service has a room for improvement. lots of parking spots though. would love to come back and try other flavors. read more
Their malasadas are unmatched - light, airy, decadent, and never too sweet. Malasadas anywhere else have been ruined for me; they're just never nearly as good as Doughweime's (even in Hawaii). The cookies don't get enough love either. They are next level! I love supporting this little family run business. They are great at what they do, and are always so friendly. read more
I tried just two flavors of the malasada from last weekend and I'm already hooked! Seriously so good and the ideal not-too-sweet. I had the banana pie and campfire cherry. The banana pie was so light yet had such a potent banana flavor. It tasted natural and not super artificial. Loved the banana on top that was sweet with a slight bitter char crunch coating. The campfire cherry was really rich with dark chocolate and cherry filling. Something great for chocolate lovers unlike myself, but I could definitely appreciate the detail put into the flavor. All the malasadas had such soft bread and the filling just added to the airiness of it all. Definitely want to come back to try more flavors. Although I didn't go into the sho myself, I've heard from others that the owners are really nice! They're open only in the weekend as they spend the rest of the week preparing the flavors and making everything to sell. What a wonderful family owned business! My favorite donut shop in the East Bay! They have a rotating menu that changes every two weeks and is posted Thursday night. You can either preorder a set box (6 donuts, flavors predetermined) or show up to pick your own. They also sell whole or slices of basque cheesecake and an assortment of croissants/cookies and coffee drinks. Their malasadas are usually Asian-inspired flavors such as mango sago, pandan coconut, and milk teas. I usually go every few weeks to try their new offerings and I've loved nearly every flavor I've tried. They're not heavy and can be stored in the fridge and eaten cold over several days (if you want to warm them up, I would suggest doing so at a low power level and in small increments to avoid melting the filling). Some of my personal favorites are the persimmon, the smoked salmon lox, the mango sago, and pandan coconut. The fruit flavors in particular are outstanding as they use fresh fruit inside. The croissants and cheesecakes are amazing too. The shop is a bit small with two seats by the window and two small tables. It's mostly a grab and go place. I would recommend going early in the day (before 12pm, especially on weekends!) as they can sell out of flavors quickly. Sometimes I've shown up at 11am and they've been sold out of a particular flavor. The staff are super sweet and offer suggestions if you can't decide what to get. The donuts are a bit pricey (around $6 and some specialty flavors can be up to $6.50) but I believe taking quality and taste into consideration, it's worth it. I also love supporting local businesses, especially one that is thoughtful and clearly loves their craft. "Definitely a great treat." If you're looking for cheap inexpensive donuts, then this review is not for you since these aren't donuts. But if you like tasty pastries (malasadas), then you reached the right place. These malasadas are just super tasty and worth the hype. This bakery rotate their malasadas offering every week. So definitely worth a visit to see what they're serving that week. This week I ordered: Mango sago, Guava Cheesecake, Salted duck egg, ube, vanilla crème brûlée, rocher mini, matcha mini, banana mini. Their malasadas are very light, fluffy, and airy. Their fruit flavor pastries are very fruity (sometimes taste more fruitier than the fruit itself)... while their creamy pastries goes so well with your morning coffee. If you like your pastries a bit more dense, you can put it in the fridge for a day and it eat cold... it's still very good. I highly recommended the manga sago malasada. But if you want a local favorite, you can't go wrong with their Ube. The staff are super helpful and friendly. I highly suggest you go there early since there might be a line outside. read more
Came here for the first time because they serve malasadas. The place looks really nice at the inside even when it's small with some relaxing music. The service does slightly need improvement, because they kinda forgot about the iced latte. They also thought that I wanted 2 malasadas when I wanted one. The Ube Coconut tastes really good. I like when they added Ube cake piece I believe. The main issue is the iced latte I ordered. For some reason, it tastes weird. Not sure if it's because of the espresso or the whole milk? If it's because of whole milk, it tends to rotten quicker than oatmilk. Maybe I could have substituted with that instead. I've never tasted iced latte that unusual out of all the cafes I've been through. Other than that, everything is good. Honestly, I would give this place a higher rating if it wasn't for the latte. read more
We go here when cravings for pillowy, soft, not-super-sweet malasadas is strong. Which is often. lol This spot is in the same complex as Seafood City Supermarket. I heard they used to frequent the Farmer's Market in Old Niles but didn't hear about them until I saw the "coming soon" at door when I saw going for my regular run for pandesal and corned beef. They have a rotating menu and are only open Thursdays to Saturday. They post their flavors for the week in their IG and any other specials they have for the week and vacation notices, etc.. In the beginning, the wait times for this place was maybe 45mins to an hour but that is not the case anymore, luckily. You can get your donuts pretty quickly now. I would still go earlier than later because they tend to run out of the more famous flavors earlier in the day. Another thing to note (that kinda grinds my gears but not too much) is they use the ube dough for other flavors at end of day when they run out of the regular dough. Flavor wise it isn't really different it is just bright purple in color. So far my favorites are the hojicha, mango coconut, pandan, matcha. I have also tried their butter mochi, it was pretty good. Saw they started making coffee too but I haven't tried it yet. Maybe next time. Overall highly recommend for anyone looking for malasadas with creative and interesting flavors using quality ingredients! read more
I have had this place bookmarked for a long time but finally managed to come here! It's a cute little bakery with a small drink menu as well. There are only a couple spots to sit inside and outside so I would probably just plan on doing take out if you need to! The menu is always posted ahead of time on Instagram if you like to look at it ahead of time like I do. They are very good about posting updates too of what's left at what time, which is awesome if you want to take a look before you drive over! We got there about an hour past opening and there were only a few people ahead of us. We still had a great selection and tried a lot of things that we wanted. My favorites were the banana chocolate hazelnut and the black sesame malasada. All of the flavors were on point and completely recognizable when you take a bite! Some malasadas don't have enough filling but these had no shortage. I liked that they offered mini versions of some flavors too, which gives you the opportunity to try more, or for us it was perfect for our kids. On top of that, service was wonderful, the girl who rang us up was very sweet, not sure if she was the owner. This is definitely a great spot to make a stop for some baked goods!! They are so picturesque so they would make a great gift to bring to someone too. I was eyeing those basque cheesecakes on the menu (amazing flavors like peach oolong and guava!) so I will have to come back with an ice chest to bring lots of things home! read more

I finally tried their guava basque cheesecake and Speculoos banana basque cheesecake. Both are super delicious! My family preferred the banana basque cheesecake because of the cookie butter on it. Their sushi roll salt bread and Norwegian smoked salmon malasada are super good as well. I really want to try their maple bacon cheddar scallion croissant. Hoping they bring that back soon. read more
Omg lowkey the most busting salt bread of my LIFE. I asked for it toasted so it was so crunchy and crispy and salty omg I inhaled it. The malasada were also SO GOOD. I usually don't like donut-type desserts but these were amazing. The pineapple yogurt one was especially good, it had the tartness that balanced out the sweetness and so many pineapple chunks. Mango sago pomelo was also amazing, you could see the chunks of pomelo and sago inside. Each malasada is generously filled and you can tell the ingredient are high quality. No line on a Friday at 11am. Small place for seating inside but I'd def recommend taking it home. I will be back to try the drinks next!! read more
You can't order a bad thing here. Honestly. The reuben croissant is delicious. You must get 1 per person, sharing is not an option.. I really like their banana bread and the Gochujang caramel sesame cookie is out of this world.. They're genius in blending flavors and creating delicious one of a kind treats. read more

So I've had their malasadas but it's their Dubai chocolate croissant that prompted me to write a review. You'll be spending just shy of $10 but I personally thought it was worth it. The texture was amazing. I really enjoyed the crunch of it. The cream in the middle is delicious too. It's quite dense so it was perfect to share with someone else. The malasadas have more of a soft, fluffy texture all around if you're into that. I prefer there to be a bit more bite on the outside. Although it's not as expensive as the Dubai chocolate croissant, the price point of it isn't as worth it to me, but still worth trying! read more
My family has been to Doughweime a couple of times now, and today we tried the apricot mini malasada, Dubai chocolate croissant ($10), and the coffee toffee malasada. Everything was tasty and, as expected, on the sweeter side. The highlight for us this trip was definitely the coffee toffee malasada, it's rich, flavorful, and balanced, making it an easy favorite. Service was quick, and the space doesn't have much seating, but it's a great spot if you're in the mood for a fun treat (Friday-Sunday only while supplies last)! read more

When I last checked, they weren't taking any online orders. And considering their in-person line is often at least a 30 minute wait (or longer), it makes sense they'd want to limit it to only in-person orders for now until the busyness dies down.
