Dry and chocolate was too hard on top
    Helen J.

I love the friendliness and the high spirit attitude of the younger ladies who were making the Dubai items. They were happy , laughing and carrying on conversations. I felt this was the highlight of the place . I was not a fan of the Dubai items. Dubai brownie : The brownie is dry and crumbly. The brownie taste was too sweet for my liking . There was very little kanafi and the chocolate topping on the brownie was too hard to bite into. There was good enough pistachio. Strawberrry Dubai cup: The strawberries taste artificial. It did not have a fresh taste. The strawberries were premade in the cup and stored in the display case . It tasted like it was soaked in sugar . There was hardly Kadaif and it tasted stale . There was no crisp to it . Lot of pistachio and very little pistachio cream. It was only on the top unlike how it is advertised on their Instagram. It did not look like how their Instagram pics look like. $18 for chocolate and strawberries is steep considering the size of the cup and expecting more Dubai than just strawberries and chocolate . The chocolate is too sweet for my taste & chocolate harden quickly .

Sampled the Dubai chocolate brownie and the chocolate strawberry at the Camp Yelp event in Fremont tonight. Both were fantastic!

I literally felt like my stomach was bigger than my eyes, I wanted to try everything. But got a few chocolate covered goodies from kunafa to dates to regular dark chocolate for me and my coworkers. EVERYBODY loved it. My favorite hands down was the chocolate covered date. You HAVE to get that one. I only got a single, but I wish I got like five. You can also pick and choose and they provide you a little baggie to put them all in. They also sell turkish delight which he cuts for you by hand. I really enjoyed the pomegranate one as a nut-allergy girlie. The rose water was a little too rose-y for me. Too floral, it tasted like the smell of a grandma with her potpourri. They also sell nuts and other goodies like Palestinian ceramics. I had to get myself a Falasteeni ceramic magnet. It was so beautiful, painted with olives all over. Zaytoun aesthetic! Will def be back to calm my sweet tooth. And always, free Palestine!

They use high quality matcha powder (Marukyu Koyamaen) for their drinks. This is one of the few things that drew me into their cafe. The baristas are extremely friendly and have a wonderful sense of humor, AND they support small businesses! Immediately upon entry, you can see the huge display of neatly arranged donuts, malasadas, and pastries and they all look amazing! So many flavors to choose from that it was a little overwhelming. As others have said, the price point is around $5.50 per piece so have that in mind going in. Ordering was simple enough and servers were kind and patient. Parking is maximum 3 hours and there are some tables and chairs outside to sit and enjoy your goodies. Overall, I think I'm still going to stay loyal to Doughweime in Union City, but these malasadas do live up to the hype. Everything bagel malasada: Surprisingly really good, a light cream cheese filling with everything bagel seasoning on the outside. And the texture of the savory donut was crispy and airy. 9/10 Strawberry cream malasada: Kind of plain, would've been good with strawberry bits inside. 7/10 Biscoff cream malasada: You can taste the real Biscoff crackers in the filling. 7.5/10

I remembered a place on Jackson Street that I had gone to 5 years ago that had a tremendous selection - looked it up on Yelp and it was no longer on Jackson, but was listed in Castro Valley. So we went thought we'd go by and give it a try. Great decision! The "new" store in Castro Valley is much brighter, cleaner, nicer than the old location. I think the old location had more stuff from Eastern Europe, but this new location seems to have a broader selection, with more stuff from Western Europe and the Middle East. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and helpful - always willing to answer questions and even give tips on how to use the products that they sell. And his recommendations have been great - we asked him about which tahini and zaatar to get (they have many different brands/types of each...) and the ones he recommended have been way tastier than any of the brands that you find in most markets. Especially good was his recommendation on lebnah - he said that the brands they carry are all good, but they have some that they package in-house that was special. I tried it - it was less expensive than the other brands, but was the very best lebnah that I have ever tasted! Richer, creamier, with just the right amount of tang. Wonderful stuff! Anyway, Crossroads is a nice, clean, well-lit place with a great selection of unique products, and friendly, knowledgeable sales staff. Well worth a trip!

I usually go to the Pleasanton spot but happened to be nearby and wanted to get a cake for Mother's day. I understand that because it is a holiday that they were going to be busy, but it was incredibly disorganized inside with people cutting in and out of line at the counter and the staff were too busy to redirect customers or take orders. Incredibly frustrating as there were several instances of people just cutting their way in line and just placing their orders/getting served ahead of everyone else by just walking straight up to the register. When it came to my turn the staff asked for my order then turned around and instead went and took care of someone who had cut in front straight to the register to buy bread when I had already been waiting in line for awhile. They did not even bother asking if they had been waiting there before or had cut the line, the staff just skipped me just because that person had gone straight up to the register. Incredibly frustrating situation and I just did not want to get into it with the line cutter or the staff. Was still able to pick up the cake but I would skip this place since they can't even set up a system for a line/queue. Go to the Pleasanton spot instead and skip this spot.
