Their tres leches cake is very good! It was the perfect level of milk and cake! The strawberries tasted fresh and everyone really enjoyed the cake! The staff was very nice and allowed us to purchase, pick up, and get writing on the cake on the day of the event. I stopped by here quickly to grab some dessert for a party I was going to. I got a whole pound cake and some corn breads that looked really good. loved the butter pound cake. The bread here is just ok. Prices are as follows. Low end $1.50, average is $2.50 a piece , and some at $2.80. With that said, the price does not match the taste. I purchased 8 different types of bread and the only ones I like was the virote, and the pineapple casuelita. Aside from that, I believe the bread is very very overpriced. 3.5 I've gotten baked goods here before. I usually go for the empanadas dulce. They don't have as many options at the moment (due to SIP I'm assuming). Everything still looked good and fresh, but I didn't go for the sweets this time. I ordered one cheese pupusa and one pork tamal. Both were very good. The pupusa was filled with a good amount of cheese. Perfect on the outside with a slight crust. Good size as well. I like the cheese they use. They gave a lot of curtido (which also had a lot of flavor). I really don't like when places barely give you any! I have to have the perfect pupusa/curtido ratio. Tamal was nice and soft. It had a good amount of filling and it had just the right amount of salt. I waited about 20 minutes for my food. I thought it was kinda long but I mean it tasted good and things take time right. Maybe I was just impatient and hangry, idk. The lady cooking the food can to the front and called out to me. When she was handing me the bag she whispered something into the other lady worker's ear. I've only purchased their pan dulce. That is their speciality, which is absolutely delicious. And in my opinion, they should stick to what they know. I've only gone in the afternoon when the cravings come. There isn't much variety at that time. Perhaps they are busy with food prep. They have been at this location for a long time. I wanted to have a custom fondant Birthday cake made for my friend so I search the bakeries nearby with good reviews, then I visited Don Polvoron Bakery in Hayward. I've been warned that the main baker is away on vacation so she will try her best. I asked for a Chanel themed cake, even giving her some examples I found on Google. I paid $120 up front, giving her $132 total as tip. I came back to pick up the cake right before attending my friend's Birthday party. The bakery could not provide me any plates, utensils or candles even when I offered to pay...they just said they dont carry any of that? Then I opened the box to see the cake and I was beyond mortified when I saw the finished product. Bringing that as a gift to the party was very embarrassing for me. I really really really wanted to like this place. I've been dying for some moist tres leches cake... I'm still looking. I ordered a cake for my bday. It was decorated alright. Tasty strawberry's and peach slices with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. The cake was filled with strawberry-flavored whipped cream but I asked for fresh strawberries. The cake was completely dry but about 1/2 inch (I'm being generous) was moist with tres leches. I paid $47 for a cake that was not good. The ordering process was fair enough. I called but was told the person in charge of taking orders for cakes, Jocelyn was with another customer. I asked if she could call me back but I was told to call back. I did so and placed my order with her. She was friendly and informative. I placed my order and was told that I had to pay for the cake at the time of my order because it was for the following day. After being turned down by three bakeries because of discrimination. That's another story to get into. But let's stay on topic shall we! I made an online appointment with the owner Jorge Flores. He studied under Buddy Valastro "Cake Boss". We discussed the cake in his office. He had all these images online for a cake theme for a child's Birthday cake. The price was affordable. Great experience. Super fast delivery time (4 days) called everywhere and no one could create the cake as quick as them. They did however ask if the cake looks complicated and my order wasn't. I got a cake similar to a design I wanted but the lady told me she can make the same exact cake as a picture I took in. I requested different placement for the Happy birthday sign and didn't get as promised. I paid extra for a design I didn't get. On top of being unsatisfied with the outside of the cake I was disappointed with the inside I paid extra for a strawberry and fresh banana cake and ended up getting a jelly peach cake with some strawberries. I've gotten cakes here three times and each time I was underwhelmed. The last time I got a cake I asked for black trim as I just wanted a subtle cake. Well lo and behold, the bakery didn't tell me that their black icing stains everything it touches. So we basically had dark lips, tongues and fingers for a day or two. It almost made me feel like it was toxic dye as it wouldn't come off with a scrub. I asked for the tres leches cake to be extra moist, but it was barely wet at the bottom. They are amazing!!!! We had a last minute emergency where our baker cancelled two days before my nephew's birthday party and could no longer make the custom cake that we had ordered. We called countless bakeries, but nobody was willing to take on the project so last minute. But Don Polvoron said yes! The nice lady, Margarita, I spoke to was very helpful and asked me to send her the reference picture via text. We were able to handle everything on the phone. Things are so lightly flavored that the color gives you more of an indication of what it's supposed to taste like.
