I had trouble getting in contact with the bakery by phone when trying to make a cake purchase. I was able to get in contact eventually but by that time their cakes were sold out. The store size is as expected of a small bakery. I think due to its cake output and the demand i would recommend calling earlier than later to reserve a cake, but also hope that they pick up the phone. The guava cake did not have very much guava taste. I'm used to the Zippy kind of guava cake and was hoping to experience something similar. The guava cake at this bakery may be a Guam influenced type so keep your expectations in check. read more

From all the pictures you think this was a really busy, well stocked bakery. But maybe I came on an off day. I got there maybe around opening time and it was very sparse pickings. It just seems like the cupcakes in the display case were from the previous day. Some still had holiday decor on them. I guess still good until it changes colors?? I didn't see any empanadas and I think maybe they were still baking things. I got the guava, the ube, the pistachio and the pandan cupcakes. All flavors I love, but sadly didn't taste in any of the cupcakes. All the flavors were like whispers of the their flavoring. Even teh cupcake itself wasn't anything to call home about. I think Pillsbury has more flavor. Super let down because I was really excited to try this place. Located in a weird almost abandon looking plaza. The parking lot is kinda small. I thought they may have been closed when I approached the door because of how barren it looked. Way overpriced per cupcake ($4.50) and they're regaulr sized cupcakes with whipped topping. read more

I used to buy guava birthday cakes here but i will spend my money elsewhere after the terrible service i received when trying to order a guava wedding cake. I contacted Elite months in advance for a guava wedding cake that they said they could make and after a few email exchanges the baker ghosted me. I even called the shop after follow up emails and a month of no response and spoke to a nice lady who said she would tell the baker to prioritize a response back. He never responded, which in hindsight was a blessing. I found Gong Dessert Shop/Droothebaker who made me my wedding cake and delivered. Everyone raved about my matcha sponge cake with yuzu mousse, fresh raspberries white chocolate chantilly. If youre trying to order a large special cake, skip Elite Bakery. read more

Found Elite Bakery online since I was on the search for Guava cake. I tried calling them multiple times to order and they never picked up. When I finally got through on a Friday for a cake pick up on Sunday, they let me know that they only had cupcakes available. Got two guava cupcakes. I've been on the search for guava cakes because I've been craving the cakes I would get at Zippy's. There were so many good reviews about it and it unfortunately missed the mark. Wasn't as flavorful as I would like and a little pricy. read more

Pricey, but made it official that this is the go to for guava chiffon in the East Bay! A quarter sheet cost about 90$. Wanted to try the different tropical flavors of cupcakes, but was shocked that a half dozen costs more than 30$ - I just tried the POG flavor, not bad of a flavor. Otherwise guava chiffon is a must! read more

We came here with friends to try their Empanadas. We ordered six to go and didn't eat them until we got home about an hour in a half away. Of course we used our air fryer to warm them up. They were crispy on the outside with a mild/spicy filling. The ratio of filling was just right and depending on your appetite one should be good enough to keep you satisfied. I would come back for it and try some of the bake goods. read more

Greeted immediately by a nice guy. We were able to place an order for Guamanian empanadas, chicken kelaguen (cold), red rice (hot), and half dozen of Guamanian empanadas. There is a 15-30 min wait for the empanadas. The chicken kelaguen was good to satisfy my craving and it was a generous amount that lasted a few days. The empanadas were so good and I do wish I had gotten more but hubby and I enjoyed them very much. The place is small and has a few tables if you want to eat there and they had tons of pastries but I was mainly here for the two items I got and it was so worth it!! read more

The spicy empanadas have been dialed back in spice, so to me, they are even better! They have guava cupcakes, which are so freaking amazing!!!! I recommend calling ahead to order or you may end up waiting a good 15+ min depending on your order. Recap: Must try the empanadas, chicken kelaguen, red rice, and guava cupcakes! Oh when i saw their "must try" on yelp, i sure wanted to try them! My most favorite one is the ube cupcake! I also got mango, guava, chocolate, strawberry & cookies and cream. The cupcakes are not that sweet at all which is what i enjoyed about it. I also was curious if they had pandan which they did but sold out! I can't wait to go back & try it as well! read more

Highly recommend this place! The service was amazing and Chamorro food was even better, authentic taste. Back in December, I got a box of guava cupcakes and pandan cupcakes for my get together with my bestie. Staff there were very nice and friendly. They gave me free lightbulb ring toppers on my cupcakes, which was very cute. It was first time trying this place, and I love it. The guava cupcakes were sweet and a slight tang with a pleasant guava flavor. The icing was fluffy and perfectly sweet. The cake part was moist and yummy. Pandan was also a good flavor as well. Light sweetness. I would definitely return again the next time I want to get some cupcakes! :) read more

This is one of my favorite places for a cake. I just cannot seem to never get enough of their Ube/Taro Cake. Grace and the whole staff is always super awesome. They never get my orders incorrect especially considering I order here every year for my birthday cake if Ube / Taro. Their cakes is phenomenal. If you love chiffon and light fluffy then this is the place to go because you never feel heavy even after eating 1 piece of cake. They also offer so many other options of flavors such as red velvet, pandan, mango, coconut and sell them as cupcakes. So many pastries inside to choose from. I needed a cake last minute for my dad's birthday. He likes Guava cake and I was able to order one from this place 1 day before our party. That was really awesome that they were able to do it on such short notice. Also I had some unexpected guests and needed a bigger cake the day of and they were able to pull that off and upgrade to a bigger cake at the pick up. Nobody does that!!! Huge thanks to this bakery for doing that for us. I have to add they are very friendly it seems like that is hard to come by these days. The bakery is clean and in a decent location. The cake was so nice and delicious!! Everyone loved it!! We were very happy and will definitely be back and also have already recommend this place to our friends. read more

Got 3 different cupcakes: Mango cupcake: really me. Both myself and my wife loved it. It's moist and has a good mango flavor and this was 2 days after purchase. Guava cupcake: this was our second favorite had a nice guava flavor. However, my wife is not a guava person. Vanilla cupcake : this was good. It's run by a family who takes pride in their bakery items and their service. It's a small place. Top notch overall. read more

I ordered the 8" round at 4.5" tall red velvet with chocolate custard filling cake (standard cake) for my mom's birthday because that's what she wanted. I was advised when I reached out by email that standard cakes need to be ordered at least 4 days in advanced and paid upfront. I ended up paying over the phone. I was a little hesitant as there weren't any red velvet cake reviews on here (if any). Once I took my bite, all of my doubts disappeared because it was delicious! The cake is rich and a bit on the heavier side so this cake can go a long way with a small slice. It was frosted with whipped cream making it a nice balance to the richness on the inside. What a delicious cake! Service was alright, I arrived around 9:45 am on a Sunday and no one was there to greet me. They do have a bell for you to ring, but it would have been nice to be greeted by a friendly face. It shows that even the people at the front put in work in the back. When worker came out, she helped me pick up my cake and rang me up. Note: if you want a custom cake, you need to place your order 2 weeks in advance and pay first. Still highly recommend! read more

Tbh the cake was ok. To be fair maybe chocolate cake isn't their specialty? They were able to fit in my last minute cake request (next day pick up). I ordered a 6" round chocolate cake with fresh fruit filling. The cake was pretty, but it was dry. I had a bite of it the next day and decided to just throw the rest out. I do want to add that the bakery staff was pleasant and the inside of the bakery was clean. I do appreciate them fitting my order in but I was disappointed in the cake. read more

Ordered the: - Red Velvet Cupcake - Guava Cupcake - Oreo Cupcake - Mango Cupcake (They also have a yummy Ube cupcake as well) The very first time I tried this place was for a birthday party at the Pepsi fields and fell in love with the Guava cupcake. There is a yummy filling inside that oozes out like melted chocolate. So freaking good! The cupcake itself is very moist and the whipped cream is so light yet flavorful. One cupcake alone is super filling for me. It's so delicious that I was thinking about it ever since I had them which was a while ago ! All of their cupcakes are so yummy and so moist! They also serve hot food and cakes for events! So if you're looking to book someone for a birthday party or for an event this is definitely a place you should keep in mind. This is also a Guamanian owned place as well which is apart of Polynesia! As we walked in there were signs of Guam and no matter the ethnicity it was just beautiful to see a place of our Polynesian people this close to home! You've gained forever supporters family! The service was quick and easy. The cupcakes are about $4 each but prices vary depending on the certain cupcakes but the taste of delight is so worth it! The gentleman L.T that helped my father and I was a family member of the owner and was super attentive and patient. L.T also provided great information about all the items and one of their best items they had on the menu which we will be returning to try! I didn't get to get your name brotha but we appreciate your kindness and greetings. (I got his name and updated the review ) There is a parking lot dedicated to their area to the side of the shop and a parking lot near the gas station to the corner of the shop as well but you may have to do a small amount of walking. Gotta please the birthday Filipino mama with an ube cake lol. Saw that ube cake is one of this bakery's specialties and pre-ordered one via phone (bakery needs at least a few days heads up for regular cake orders). The ube cake here is one of the softest cakes I've had.....It's like eating a cloud lol. Super soft spongy chiffon cake layers that aren't dry-tasting at all. The whipped cream covering the layers is very delicate yet still holds its shape even hours of the cake being left at room temperature. Light ube flavor throughout the cake. Not too sweet at all. Amazing cake. If you're looking for a cake that isn't too sweet/rich and like ube flavor I strongly recommend getting this one! read more

I read many good reviews on the guava cake so I had to try it for my dad's birthday. I called 2 days prior to place my order and it was very easy and quick. The 8" cake can feed 10 people and was $35. You get a receipt after paying over the phone but I never got mines. You can call them and have them resend it to you. Day of pickup was smooth. Plenty of parking as it's within a little plaza. They let you check the cake before sealing up the box. The cake wasn't too sweet and you can taste a little bit of guava flavor. Majority of my family did say the guava flavor wasn't that strong and it would've been better if it was a little bit sweeter. I would come back to try the other flavors, especially the ube. read more

I came for their guava cake but apparently that item needs to be pre-ordered. I wish this bakery was closer to home. They have so many authentic Guamanian dishes including kelaguen, red rice, and empanadas. Since they didn't have a small guava cake for purchase, I opted for their cupcakes instead. Their guava cupcakes were delicious. Actually all the cupcakes I tried from this bakery, I enjoyed immensely. Their cupcakes are not sickening sweet like Sprinkles or Kara's. They're lighter but the flavors still come through. I can definitely taste the guava, pistachio, and taro, which were the 3 flavors I tried. Because their cupcakes are lighter than some of the other famous cupcake competitors, I was able to try more flavors. Plus the cupcakes here didn't make me feel sluggish or bloated after eating them. I will have to pre-order a guava cake from them one day. Looking forward to getting one soon since I have some family members with upcoming birthdays. Ugh... where do I even start?! I'm just SO GLAD that we have this place out here in the Bay. Whenever I feel homesick for CHamoru food (that my CHamoru boyfriend can't cook - ha!), I feel at ease knowing that I can just drive across the bridge and get me some authentic, so very tasty empanadas! It's best to place your order over the phone in advance (though payment is required over the phone) to ensure that your food is piping hot and ready for you when you go! We have tried the latiya and kelaguen, and both were excellent. BUT we will always come here for the empanadas and buchi buchi, which we think are PERFECT. Not an exact match for Aki's, but quite the best and closest thing to it I've yet to find. The guava texture in the cake and beautiful pink color add to the refreshing tropical feel. Very easy to order ahead of time and delicious. Staff were also very helpful and friendly. read more

We specialize in Filipino breads and baked goods, as well as the following Guamanian products: Empanada*, Guava Cake, Buchi Buchi*, Pantosta, Latiya, Manha Tatiya*, Guguria, Roskette and Bunuelos. History

Established in 1923.

Elite Bakery is a family-owned business, first created in the Philippines (Cebu) by our grandfather, Tinong Villo, in 1923. Our father, Ambrose, opened his first store in Mabolo, Cebu in 1967. He later established two branches in Guam: our main branch in Tamuning (1974), and one in Agat (1980). A fourth location was opened in the nearby island of Rota in 1996. We opened our Union City location - the newest addition - in 2012, after having moved from our old location in Milpitas (1982-2012). My sister Grace and I - I'm Ken! - manage this bakery, and have three generations of baking experience and culinary expertise between the both of us. I am a 1998 graduate of the California Culinary Academy of San Francisco.

Unfortunately our photo printer is down at the moment. Please note, we typically ask for a 4 day leeway on standard orders, 6 day for cake set or edible image cakes and a 2 week leeway for custom (fondant, or shaped) cake orders. Thanks

Are your cakes real whipped cream or buttercream?

We use a non-dairy whip topping, and make a Swiss meringue buttercream for custom cakes or upon request.

We grabbed an assortment of flavors, an iced oat latte, and a black sesame latte. The banana creme brulee malasada looked so good that we had to try it in the store while waiting for our drinks. The dough is so soft and pillowy with a crispy layer of bruleed sugar and a delicious banana cream that was absolutely to die for. At $6.50, it's not a cheap treat, but it was super delicious and I'm glad we tried it. The drinks were also great. The espresso shot they pulled perfectly complemented the oat milk -- this is one of the better iced oat lattes I've had. We tried the black sesame latte because it sounded interesting and it was so creamy and loaded with black sesame flavor. For anyone that doesn't drink caffeine, I highly recommend you try the black sesame latte. With such great quality malasadas and drinks, it's no wonder there was a line! We'll definitely be back!

I bought a few snacks and a few different breads and split them up between each household because I definitely could not finish them all on my own. The pricing was reasonable, the only issue I really had was that some of the items we bought already started molding the next day. Not sure if they should have been in the fridge, but it was just a little unfortunate that I had to throw some away so soon. I do want to come back again to try some of the hot food that they have behind the counter.

I got the black sesame, churro, matcha hazelnut, chocolate hazelnut, melona and the blueberry cream filled. Let me tell you these donuts are perfect if you dont like anything too sweet. My mom who usually splits one donut over the span of 3-4 days to finish, ate her entire blueberry donut in one sitting without even sharing. They do recommend that you enjoy them asap or to place them in an airtight container so they don't dry out. I did not do so, so my donut dried out (eating a dry but delicious day old donut as i write this). All in all my experience was amazing and I will definitely be coming back to try that guava donut if its there!!! I also recommend checking out and exploring their website. They have a gallery of the donuts they've created and case studies of how they come up with their flavors!

These were not heavy pies, just creamy light melt in your mouth. They also have frozen pies so you can take and bake yourself. I understand that it might be more convenient to make four of the same drinks at once, but as one customer who came in first and ordered just one thing, I should not have to wait 12 minutes for my drink. Especially when there were no customers ahead of me. Plus, I saw 3 workers working there. I didn't understand why it would take so long to make. The upside down halo halo drink was refreshing. Loved the Frosted Flakes on top of the drink. The flan on top was good as well. I didn't care too much about the boba inside as it was super chewy and took awhile to chew. Overall, not a bad drink. While I was dining in, another customer came in and waited several minutes for someone to help them. No employee was at the counter. The customer literally had to try to get someone's attention in the kitchen. As an improvement, I think it would be helpful for one of the employees to be at the counter or at least keep checking now and then for customers. The place didn't close for another hour, so I can't see why they would need to start cleaning so early.

It was just pure gristle in every single bite, to the point where we couldn't even chew it and only ate about a fourth of it. They also forgot to give us salsa with our chips. When we called to let them know about the meat, his wife started chopping up meat on her end, arguing with me, and insisting the food was perfectly fine and fresh. My wife, who is visibly 8 months pregnant, actually walked the burrito back into the restaurant just to show her the gristle. Because the lady said to bring it back show her. Instead of making it right or offering a simple switch for a chicken burrito like my wife had asked, she completely lacked empathy and flat-out said, "I can't remake your burrito." I called back to ask what could be done to fix this, and she started telling me to stop yelling at her. I wasn't yelling at all, my other baby was screaming in the background because my wife left the house to try and get the food fixed. She then hung up the phone on me. Apparently, she told my wife she even consulted her husband before refusing to fix it. It is so unfortunate that a business we supported weekly would treat regulars this way, but they have officially lost customers for life. The owner also said she was going to reply to me on here.
