1/4 sheet guava cake

The guava cake was amazing. It was the best cake I have ever tasted! I am not exaggerating. I ordered a 1/4 sheet guava cake for a friend's birthday that same day (Wednesday). It was available, and they added a nice birthday message upon purchase. It was such a smooth, fast transaction. The cake was incredibly delicious. It was not too sweet - just right. The fruit decorations were beautiful, and the color and texture of the mousse were amazing. The mousse had a creamy, smooth texture. I wanted to get another slice of cake, but I withheld the urge Everyone loved it and asked where it came from. I'm actually going to start requesting this as my birthday cake every year from this bakery! Such a delight! I cannot find enough words to adequately describe my delectable experience. I'm still reeling!

Rainbow Swiss rolls- yummy
Jaane F.

I bought their rainbow swiss roll cakes, which come in different flavors. I never saw any shop doing this. You get to try a different taste. I like their swiss roll, if you are not sweet. This is a must-try cake to get. The cake is soft and spongy. Also, I had their frozen food, like shrimp wontons and beef dumplings. Both are also good, and the price is very reasonable for the packaging. I will come back here more often to try out others.

Baked goods

Review for baked goods only! Stopped by here after visiting the Lion Market as a newbie to Fremont. The store looked tiny but they do sell frozen dumplings, drinks and cakes along with baked bread. Their assortment of bread included pineapple bun (which I got), hot dog bun, taro bun, cream bun, toast... etc. I quite enjoyed the ones I got. Didn't get a chance to try anything else but definitely in my plans to visit here again.

fluffy Japanese cheesecake ($15)
Hesper W.

Came here for the individual mousse cake and was pretty disappointed when they didn't have any. There was a box of sliced fluffy Japanese cheesecakes that I opted getting, but soon regretted it because of how expensive it was for 4 small slices ($15). Each slice was a different flavor: matcha, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. They were light and fluffy, and filled with whipped cream which was surprising since Japanese cheesecake doesn't have cream in it. Each flavor was distinctive and delicious, but it seriously wasn't worth the price.

GREAT FROZEN CHINESE DUMPLINGS HERE. If you have frozen dumplings on your grocery list don't get them from the grocery store, get them from here. Review is only for the frozen dumplings and not their baked goods. They taste fresher, the skins are thin, and it's bursting with fillings. They are located in the freezer on the right side when you walk in, they will be in black takeout containers with clear lids or in bags. They were almost sold out around 2:30 pm which means tons of people are buying them. Some pricing for the ones we bought: -Pork wonton = $6.99 -Shrimp, Pork, Chive Wonton = $7.99 -Shrimp, Pork, Chive dumpling = $x.xx (forgot pricing) The dumpling we pan-cooked gyoza style with oil and did the other half boiled. Both were really good and tasted home-made and fresh, like something an older relative would make. Wontons same high quality, very good in leftover chicken soup on a cold day. If you've never been here it's inside the Lion Market, just look for Lion in the plaza and walk in, it'll be down the entrance walkway on the left.

Durian
Sheila K.

Ordered two cakes for my bf's birthday: durian and peach/mango cake. They were able to accommodate making two smaller cakes which was nice, a few places I called couldn't do it. When I got there, the place was really hot and there were barely any bakery items on the shelves. I was a little nervous for how the cake was going to turn out. The cake wasn't ready as promised but it was delicious! My bf enjoyed the durian cake but not so the peach/mango cake. I didn't even try the durian cake (yuck!) but the peach/mango cake was delicious! Both cakes weren't too sweet. I'd definitely come back and order more cakes from here.

Lychee Mousse (left) 8" Guava Mousse (right) 10"

Unique flavors for fruit cake! My sister really wanted guava or passionfruit cake. Both fruit cakes were hard to find in SF due to not being in season, places not open because of the lockdown, and/or requires a special three day order in advance. Surprisingly, La Faralla had both of these fruity flavors ready in the back kitchen! Not only that, but they even had lychee mousse cake. I ended up ordering the guava and lychee mousses for my sister's birthday and brother's graduation, which were good; semi-sweet and moist. Perfect for Asian taste buds! 8" cost $32 10" cost $45 Located inside the plaza with lots of parking but service was just a bit slow esp after the server made a few errors when charging me.

White Toast
Denise L.

My friend picked up some goodies from this location and I am obsessed! Their pork buns are so juicy, plenty of meat, and the bun is so soft, melt in your mouth! Their white toast bread was also so fluffy and fresh, and I ate about 4 slices in one sitting! Tasty by itself or with butter! Prices also seem very reasonable and will be a frequent spot for me!

Strawberry Shortcake
Sharon O.

We ordered cakes from La Farfalla twice in October 2021 - Black Forest Cake and Strawberry Shortcake. They were both very good - light, not overly sweet. The black forest cake used maraschino cherries rather than fresh (which may be due to seasonality). The ordering process was easy - we placed the orders over the phone a day or two before we needed them. They wrote what we wanted on the cakes and had them ready for pick up on time. One thing we absolutely loved and appreciated was the box the cake came in -- it was beautiful and very functional with handles built in. Made quite the impression and was very useful!

Food Poison Cake!!

Beware of this La Farfalla Bakery chain store!! my husband ordered a cake here and we all got food poisoning with diarrhea!! we thought the cake was so dry and completely flavorless, on top of it, it was a simple vanilla cake with nothing in it! and was charged the crepe cake price... worst yet! the food poisoning!! We complained and they were so extremely Rude!! Should have read the 1 star reviews before ordering cake from here! all very true!! Can't get worst than this bakery!! go elsewhere!!

Update: Tried the date cake this morning and it turned out…read moreto be the standout from yesterday's haul -- well done! The cake itself is delicious, but what makes it interesting is the type of fruit they use -- not Medjool or the usual Middle Eastern dates, but jujube (often called Chinese dates). That choice gives the cake a gentle sweetness with a subtle smoky note that sets it apart. Feb 21: For our first visit, we ordered quite a spread: the chocolate mochi bun, honey osmanthus cake, jujube cake, a loaf of chocolate bread (because there's no such thing as too much chocolate), and the pork floss with salted egg bread. The concept behind the pastries was appealing, which explains why we bought so much on our first trip. That said, the execution felt a little uneven. The osmanthus notes in the honey osmanthus cake didn't quite come through, the chocolate bun lacked depth of flavor, and the pork floss with salted egg bread turned slightly burnt even though we followed the heating instructions. Still, we were glad to have discovered the bakery. It's definitely worth a try.

I decided on the taro cheesecake. On the counter there were more bread-like products such as matcha loaf and more items with pork floss. I chose the red bean loaf. The red bean loaf was what I expected. It was like many other red bean loaf. The taro cheesecake were bite size. It wasnt sweet or dull. The taro seemed like real taro. It was more of a sandwich than a traditional cheesecake slice. Overall, I could see someone returning for their more savory items. My first impression and experience arent enough to drive myself to be curious for wanting more. P.S. egg tarts are available saturday and sundays

Both the sweet and savory pies are delicious, and I like that they rotate their menu with a mix of classic and more unique flavors. It makes it fun to keep coming back and trying something new. Some of my favorites over time have been the chocolate chess, cheeseburger, and berry custard pies. All very different, but all really good in their own way. Would recommend this spot to anyone looking for pie!! There are honestly not a lot of places around that you can get crafted pies from, so I think they fill a niche market here - a market that I am certainly a part of.

Tastes like how a pot pie should be. It was great on the go since I was chowing it down while driving to my next destination. I got some slices for myself to try, French silk chocolate was good. Unfortunately, it was melting (my bad) when I finally got to eat it. Chocolate whole pie for others. Got other slices for friends to try and they enjoyed it. Pandan had a nice flavor, they don't use extract which is even better. Lemon chess was good - great lemon flavor and creamy. Will need to get French silk again to eat it as soon as possible or keep in fridge when ready to eat, haha.

Immediately upon entry, you can see the huge display of neatly arranged donuts, malasadas, and pastries and they all look amazing! So many flavors to choose from that it was a little overwhelming. As others have said, the price point is around $5.50 per piece so have that in mind going in. Ordering was simple enough and servers were kind and patient. Parking is maximum 3 hours and there are some tables and chairs outside to sit and enjoy your goodies. Overall, I think I'm still going to stay loyal to Doughweime in Union City, but these malasadas do live up to the hype. Everything bagel malasada: Surprisingly really good, a light cream cheese filling with everything bagel seasoning on the outside. And the texture of the savory donut was crispy and airy. 9/10 Strawberry cream malasada: Kind of plain, would've been good with strawberry bits inside. 7/10 Biscoff cream malasada: You can taste the real Biscoff crackers in the filling. 7.5/10

The service used to be so much better - I think most, if not all of the employees are new because I do not see any of the old employees working anymore and now there are no greetings and most, if not all of the employees look like they do not want to be there. This is a nice spot to catch up with friends, get some work done, or just to sit and enjoy a boba, but sometimes just the poor service does not make me want to come back. Also, the drinks are not made consistently anymore - they do not seem happy if you let them know and they have to remake it. Usually, I do not have any major complaints about the service besides of what I listed above, but on my last visit, I felt like the service was very poor. There was a short line to use the single kiosk to order and they stopped talking orders at the front counter (with a sign that says so). I waited patiently in line and the line slowly was building up behind me and I guess the employee decided to take orders at the front counter and started to take orders of the customers behind me. There was another group in front of me as well, I felt like that was very unfair to me and the other group, as we waited in line patiently when they just arrived not too long ago.
