Came here on a Saturday morning and it was pretty busy, possibly too busy for the amount of workers that were present but they all handled the orders in the timey matter and did their best, which you cant ask for any more than that. As someone who has been drinking Vietnamese coffee since I was 12 (Im much older now), I am very picky with my Vietnamese coffee. This place knocked it out of the park with their coffee as well as offering flavors that I never tried other than the original. The phin set I ordered is for dine in only and understandably so. The pandan cream topping was definitely new for me and I would give it the compliment of saying that it wasnt too sweet. Not pictured was the pandan waffle and the two pate chaud I ordered, which I ate before taking the picture, I am sorry. It might be on the pricey side but hoenstly these days, what isnt? I've been here several times now, and the drinks have been consistently excellent. So far I've tried the piña colada matcha, pandan coffee, egg coffee (less sweet), and coconut coffee (less sweet). Everything has been a hit! My recommendation is to order your drinks less sweet. It's the perfect level of sweetness. The only tweak I'd make is adding an extra shot of espresso to the coconut coffee. The food, unfortunately, didn't live up to the drinks. I tried a few of the bánh mì sandwiches, and the bread-to-filling ratio was way off. There just wasn't enough filling, and even after ordering extra veggies, it didn't seem like there were actually any extra added. If you're specifically craving a Vietnamese sandwich, I'd recommend driving about a mile up the road to Huong Sandwiches instead. That said, I still want to come back and try more of their food menu because the drinks alone keep bringing me back. The café itself is adorable. I love the modern design and all the greenery throughout the space. It's clean, quiet enough to study or work, and has about 7 small tables, making it ideal for solo visits or small groups of up to four people. Came here on a Monday morning to work a bit and meet a friend for coffee. The cafe is in a lot with other stores so there is plenty of parking. The cafe is cute and small, so finding a seat can be difficult. However, I found a seat and was pleased by the number of outlets available and the fast wifi. I ordered an iced matcha latte. I maybe waited 3-5 minutes (no line) to get my order in, which was not a big deal because it was one guy behind the register making drinks and taking orders. The egg coffee is perfectly sweet and creamy with the egg topping, kinda like custard. I love the coconut coffee, it only comes blended with coconut shavings. A coffee or tea drink that's about $8 is expensive in my book so if you're going to treat yourself, you might as well indulge and get something made right! Phin Cafe in Fremont is where you should visit if you're in the neighborhood. They open early and they have many delicious coffee, tea, and savory snacks to splurged for sure! In particular, although I'm a coffee person, I like this place's various versions of matcha iced (green) tea drinks. I recommend their sesame rose matcha, lemonade matcha, and matcha cloud matcha (with almond milk) at regular sweet. Haha, I haven't tried them all yet. Like any other cafes in the Bay Area, go to them with the expectations that you won't find a seat and there will always be people on their laptops working or studying. Staff was quick and diligent in getting orders out and helpful to those who had questions. We ordered the banana matcha and pandan waffle. The waffle was decent, sweetness level was acceptable to asian standards of not being too sweet but texture could use a bit of work. Our waffle was on the soggier side and could had been left in the maker a bit longer in order to be crispy. Im not asking for a burnt crisp just slightly more solid texture. I'm a fan of Phin! Phin Cafe has been on my list for quite some time. While driving down to SJ, my companion and I made a stop so I could try it! The cafe is quiet and quaint, located in a shopping plaza. There's a decent amount of seating, but it can get a bit cramped inside, especially when waiting, depending on the time of day. Most diners were hanging out or working. The ordering system is fast; order on their tablet and wait to be called. Drinks do take time to come out. You also have the option to order ahead on their website. As a matcha lover, I was delighted to see the numerous options they had. It was so hard to choose! I ended up getting the Sesame Rose Matcha with Oat Milk and less sweetness. Drinks are made with nondairy creamer, though. My drink was incredibly floral from the rose, quite sweet for my taste, and had a nice nutty undertone. It was hard to enjoy the matcha flavor because it was masked by everything else going on. Regardless, it was a delicious drink! Phin Cafe is a bit far from me, but I do look forward to coming again to try their other matcha drinks. The velvety blend of their premium matcha green tea powder and milk, made for a creamy, rich, earthy beverage. Helped me warm up a bit. For munchies, we ordered a couple of Musubi's and a Mushroom & Cheese pastry. WOW!! Probably THE BEST musubi I've had because it was made to order, hot & fresh! Phin Cafe is one of the best spots for Vietnamese Coffee in Fremont. Previously we'd have to go all the way down to San Jose for some quality Vietnamese Coffee, but now we don't have to go so far! Phin Cafe has an extensive menu with various versions of egg coffee, matcha latte's, banh mi's and more. I've tried the egg matcha and matcha ube and they do tend to be on the sweeter side so I'd recommend lowering the percentage of sugar you get with your drinks. It gets quite busy even on the weekdays so I'd recommend ordering in advance so you're not waiting for too long. read more

This place was filled up when I came to visit late afternoon on a weekday. I decided to try their banana matcha in less sweet with oat milk (extra $0.50) and Pandan waffle by ordering through the kiosk while both baristas were busy without a line. The banana matcha was a 60% sweet for me when I stated less sweet. I think it's because of the banana syrup. Plus it was a lot of ice. The Pandan Waffle was a bit mushy even though it came out fresh and warm. I couldn't finish the whole waffle, so I had to toast it to crisp at home. The service wasn't welcoming as grand opening since both baristas were too focused doing their job and there were no seats available to wait for my order since it's a small cafe. I drive from Oakland all the way to Sunnyvale for work and Phin Cafe in Fremont is in between the long drive - and it has made the drive so much more bearable and exciting for me to visit when I do go into the office! I absolutely love the modern vibes and aesthetics inside the restaurant. It's so clean and a great coffee shop to get some work done. When it does it get packed during rush hours, seats might not be available but it only happened once on a Thursday at 10AM. Other times, I was able to find a seat to do a quick meeting. Now for the food and drinks: 1. Vietnamese Coffee - 5/5 ($6.90) - Does the job 2. House Special with Egg Cream - 4/5 ($6.90) - It's much more bitter than the one's I've had, granted I did get less sweet (so that might be on me) 3. Pate Chaud Pork - 3/5 ($3.75 for one or $7.50 for two) - The pastry itself looks great but it's overall super dry, even the filling inside. When you bake pate chaud, you want the flavor of the filling in parts of the pastry inside and it's supposed to be soft on the inside and flaky from the pastry. I think they did a safe route and cooked the filling inside first and then baked it with the pastry. For the price though, I would still get it to munch in the morning! 4. Banh Mi Pate and Pork Roll - 4/5 ($9 with extra pate) - The Banh Mi itself tastes fresh, with a crunch to it but it doesn't hurt the roof of your mouth. The filling is FULL but they did skimp out on the veggies (I got veggies on side). I had to ask for another veggies on side bag for the other half of my banh mi. Stopped by Phin Coffee and tried their egg coffee, and it honestly stood out. It was thick, creamy, and rich without feeling too heavy. Even with it being lightly sweetened, the flavor still came through really well. Smooth and balanced, not overly sugary like some places tend to do. What really stayed with me though was the service. We came in close to closing without realizing it, and the staff still let us sit and enjoy our drinks without rushing us at all. Phin Cafe is probably my favorite viet coffee establishment in Fremont. I do have some small qualms however, thus rating it a 4.5 but rounding down. The salted coffee is so good! I feel like it tastes a bit different than other viet coffees out there which says a lot since they all kind of have the same profile. I appreciate how the workers always ask if you prefer it less sweet, which is my way to go here. If you get lucky, the salted cream will be aesthetically swirled onto the cup. This is where some inconsistency comes into the picture though, as I had gotten it a second time and the salted cream was just slathered all over the cup messily; not sure if it was just bias but I felt like the drink tasted not as superior then as well. If you can snag a table, you can also order the Phin Coffee which comes with a cute little tray and coffee filter. The experience is awesome! I just wish there was more of the coffee. After I transferred the contents into the cup filled with ice, there was only half of the cup full. Though it was still tasty, I didn't get the usual jitters I get since the volume was so little. Stopped by this location on the way to Santa Rosa and boy, am I glad we did! Spoiler, this might be my new favorite place to get Vietnamese coffee. We got an Egg Coffee, Pandan Coffee, and Spam Masubi. I got the Egg Coffee and it was the perfect blend of sweetness and caffeine. I love the punch of Vietnamese coffee and this drink did not disappoint! My partner got the Pandan Coffee and was not happy with the flavor (it was too much pandan for him). Lastly the spam masubi was a happy surprise. It had just enough sauce, rice and spam to be a lovely breakfast on-the-go. We will for sure be trying other locations! There were many people with laptops working in the cafe. There are some greeneries in the interior decor which makes it very pleasant to sit inside. We tried the Egg puffs which tasted more like pancake filling a little bit. It is soft instead of crunchy. It is not hollow inside like what I'm used to eating. I asked the barista for hot coffee drink recommendations and he recommended the Ube coffee. He said this is the least sweet compared to the egg coffee. I would like to try their hot food next time. I am on the quest for the best Vietnamese coffee in the Bay Area, and Phin Cafe located in Fremont seemed like a no-brainer place to try. The cafe is quite spacious, with several tables and many people set up to work. There here was constant walk-in traffic in the 15 minutes I was waiting for my drink on a Sunday, speaking to how popular this spot is. The phin coffee is only offered as an in-house option, but the to-go version is their house special. They have pretty much all the popular options people are craving these days, including the highlights with ube and banana. Service is quick, and the place is well staffed to keep things moving. The coffee itself is strong as advertised, though slightly burnt on my visit. and the pricing is honestly lower than expected. Their ube flavor is rich and thick, but not foam level thick (reserved for their special). Overall, a very worthwhile option! read more
