Located inside the plaza with Ranch 99 and other restaurants, I have dined here a few times because it's convenient. Parking is free / parking lot available. The menu is what you would expect from a Pho spot; pricing is fair. It's a little dirty, seat has always food / crumbs from the previous guests. It doesn't look like it's wiped or cleaned up for the next guests. The food and drinks are okay, they are decent. Customer service is okay; it is decent. Not my first choice or in my top 10 but if I'm shopping at the Ranch 99 plaza and starving and don't want to wait or drive further for food, I'll dine here. Otherwise, would go elsewhere. read more

The service was great as well because once I placed the food to the server, I got it right away just like any vietnamese restaurant if you order Pho. I wish I could do 4.5 stars. Who doesn't love a nice bowl of pho on a cold Friday night? My husband and I had a date night and I really wanted to try a new spot. Yelp helped us find this gem. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and seated immediately. We looked over the menus, got water right away, and placed our appetizer order quickly. We wanted to splurge, so we got two. Chicken wing app: This is the only reason my review isn't a full 5 stars. One of the wings wasn't fully cooked and left a bad taste in my mouth. The rest of the wings were crunchy, and the sauce they came with was sweet and sour. Egg rolls: These were delicious! I'm so glad we still got these along with the wings. They were crunchy and very savory. This restaurant has a very chill vibe for customers, but the employees are a well-oiled machine. One person sat us, another took our appetizer order, and then Tammy took our meal order. We know Tammy from our kid's school, but that doesn't make my opinion biased. She was friendly and quick to take our order. H1. House Special Rice Noodle Soup w/ Shrimp, Squid, Chicken & Fish Ball (LARGE): This was delicious. For starters, it came out super fast--I expected it to take longer since they were busy. Secondly, they gave me soooo much broth, which is usually a bad thing, but it was so tasty I didn't mind at all. Everything was cooked perfectly, and I got more shrimp than I usually do. I didn't order any extras or anything when prompted so I'm not sure if that's normal or not. Also, the coffee was a bit dark but still delicious. I would probably recommend adding more milk to your order as per your preference. I ordered the 7th beef soup option. It was very delicious. The broth was flavorful, steaming hot, and I almost managed to finish a whole large portion by myself. My only issue was the meat had a lot of stringy bits and part of the steak was tough and chewy. RUDE. JUST PLAIN RUDEEEE. I've been coming here for years, but today will be my last visit. I came in with my family, and we were greeted and told to sit anywhere. We sat down, ordered, and a few minutes later received a small plate of condiments--bean sprouts, basil, lemon, and pepper. It clearly wasn't enough for everyone, so my mom asked for more. When our food arrived, I asked the same server again, and he said he'd bring another plate. When he returned, instead of simply handing it over, he said, "Make sure you finish this and do not waste it." Excuse me? If we had been given enough to begin with, we wouldn't have needed to ask. That comment was unnecessary and unprofessional. On top of that, the noodles were undercooked and hard--pretty disappointing for a place that specializes in rice noodles. I moved from sj up here and I'm so glad there's a decent pho place nearby. I admit I was skeptical at first because there's not a lot of viet people here and the staff speak such good English. But I decided to try this place because I really needed my comfort food. I was pleasantly surprised! The broth is SOLID. It's nice and clear, full of umami flavor with some sweetness but not too sweet. I just wish they have fresh noodles. My husband is a fan of the beef fried rice. Went here for dinner with my significant other. He ordered a rice plate and I got pho. Both chicken wings were raw in the inside so let the employee know and he looked at us funny. Then, he told us he will get us a new order of chicken wings. After 15 mins, we were done eating and went up to pay. He completely forgot about giving us the chicken wings. I got the Pho soup with steak and brisket and it is so good. I'd even say it's healing. Pho99's broth is so tasty that I forget to drink my drink at times. The brisket is tender and the steak has a good size to it. Their noodles are firm, thin and enjoyable til the last bite. The portions are worth the price and leave me happily stuffed. Pho 99 was my go to for a short time last year. I thought they were pretty good, but inconsistencies changed my mind. For example, the pho isn't always served as hot as it should. There have been times it tasted like the broth wasn't quite ready yet. The oxtail pho was decent but the meat was tough. The tendon has been hard every time I've tried it. The floor is super greasy and dirty. You can feel yourself losing traction under your shoes. Service has been friendly for the most part, but not always quick. BUT!!! This spot has changed hands so many times that I can't keep track on who's who. It was Pho 99 way back. Then it became Pho 88. Then back to Pho 99 again and even possibly within 2 ownerships. A little after the pandemic a lot has changed so I'm assuming new ownership. New faces and new look to the place. Definitely seems more restaurant-like with new interior motif and workers somewhat wear uniforms versus the casual workings of a dive mom n pop. I've gone many times with this new ownership and let me bang out some observations, thus an update. When I come here I'm finding out that my best outs are when I'm keeping it simple. Like when I get my go-to standard pho of raw steak served on the side with tendons inside the soup. It never fails and will continue to get me to keep coming through these doors. But when I try and be adventurous and order something that seems more special (also more expensive), I often get let down. Beef Rib Pho ($20/2*). I first noticed this about a year ago. Back 5+ years ago, it was actually uncommon to see beef rib on a pho menu. Maybe in SJ or other rich Viet popular area. Now you can almost find a beef rib pho just about anywhere, it has become normalized out here in the bay. The beef rib pho I received that day was not ideal. The soup part was fine, but the star of the dish, the lone beef rib was tough and tasted a bit off. I couldn't eat it so I had to switch it to just a regular bowl of pho with sliced steak. Fried Wontons ($8/4*). Typical fried wontons served with a bit of lettuce and that sweet chili sauce. I actually like to throw some into a bowl of pho much like one would put tortilla strips into chicken tortilla soup or a crouton into French Onion Soup. Just adds a bit of texture and the fried element breaks up the monotony of just slurping on soup. Oxtail Bun Bo Hue ($21/3*). When I read this on paper I actually got pretty excited. I've had the spicy beef noodle soup many times but never with oxtails as the main protein. Again most parts of the soup was fine, the broth was tasty, the noodles protocol, but the oxtails themselves were just meh. There was 1 nice piece of oxtail but the rest were tiny little pieces, so I just felt dissatisfied. The good is there are tons of the other BBH protein in there like sliced pork roll (cha lua), sliced brisket, sliced beef shank and tripe. Very filling bowl but what was supposed to make it special just was not that special. I'll still be back to have simple bowls of pho as those never disappoints. But I will try and stop being adventurous and try and not be swooned by their more premium bowls, as they haven't executed those at the same level as the standard ones. I love going to this pho shop. The noodles are so superb, and if you're not feeling up for soup, then their dry bowls are absolutely devine(i forgot what they're called). When it comes to the pho broth, it's soooo delicious, and the rice noodles are the perfect amount of softness. They have a good variety of meats, and for the appetizers me and my family and I usually get the eggrolls, and it's literally so damn scrumptious... it always comes in super hot!! The outside crunch is so delicious that I swear I can eat it just as is... the also have some drinks, me and my younger sister get their smoothies and I'm always satisfied. The staff is really friendly and appreciative. When I come in for a bite, there are always people sitting at tables. Wow, we totally stumbled on a gem with this Vietnamese spot in Fremont! The food is seriously so good--super authentic flavors that make you feel like you're in Vietnam. My husband is picky about pho (he's always complaining about the broth or noodles), but this one? Hands down one of the best we've had in Fremont and anywhere nearby. The spices are on point, everything's fresh, and it just has that cozy homemade vibe. We're obsessed! The spring rolls are yummy too--nice and crispy with a juicy filling--but honestly, they're kinda tiny for the price. That's the only reason we're not giving it a full 5 stars.
