Update: We tried 2 different food selections. Won Ton soup and beef chow fun. Won Ton Soup - 4/5 The broth was tasty, not overly salty. The pork won ton didn't have the firmness that I would have liked. It was more on the soft side. Taste wise, it was good. Just the softness of the pork filling needed to be more firm. I loved that the soup included shrimp, char sui, and Bok Choy. For the won ton filling, maybe mixing the shrimp and pork together might make the filling more firm and more delicious. Overall, I liked the won ton soup. I would order this soup again. Beef chow fun - 4/5 This noodle selection was good. The chow fun noodles were darker than I expected, probably due to the soy sauce that was mixed in for taste. The onions mixed in wasn't overwhelming, and blended well with the chow fun noodles. I wish there was more flavor from a well seasoned wok that infuses in the chow fun that I've tasted at other Chinese restaurants. But I liked their chow fun, and would order it again too. I am happy with selections that we chose. You get enough to share, and the price is reasonable. I would recommend giving Asian Express a visit for your Chinese's food fix.

Gravy for the egg foo young

Been coming here for years, portions are generous. I wanted combo plate but didn't want anything from the steam table because I wanted just broccoli in oyster sauce and they were very accommodating. Food is good and always fresh and hot. The egg foo young is huge and i loved the gravy! Great friendly service. Small inside with no dine in option. Great place to come for grab n go as they're really fast here.

@ Newark Square 5672 Thornton Ave Newark, CA 94560 "Asia Express" is the place to go for Chinese fast food in Newark, CA. Takeout only, no table service. This is a small place that serves up tasty foods both from a hot steam table and "cook to order" special menu items. This was my first time at Asia Express. I noticed they do some things better than other places- - They wrap your order in a plastic bag to prevent spillage. - offer condiments and utensils free - the server offered me fresh rice if I wait - discount for paying in cash I didn't want to wait, so I just ordered from the steam table: -chow mein -pork riblets -kung pao chicken This place has big servings! The whole time the young lady was scooping food into the takeout tray, I was thinking...."how are you going to close that lid with so much food in it?" All the food was tasty and fresh. The chow mein wasn't at all greasy. I was there at 7pm, Tuesday evening, and they were pretty busy. Good food, at a fair price, and large servings. Free parking in Newark Square.

It was as good as I expected! I saw a YouTube video from 3 months ago by eatlikeanapex where he went to this takeout place in Newark. It looked delicious so I went there this afternoon around 4 pm. There was only one customer in front of me when I arrived, but when I left a crowd of at least 6 customers were patiently waiting behind me. I felt guilty for ordering so much! I ordered a total of 4 Regular Combo boxes w 2 additional items each, $11.99 per box. Considering how they overstuffed the boxes this is a deal! I had half/half fried rice/chow mein. Jalapeño chicken was not too spicy and the batter was light. Black bean pork riblets Orange chicken Beef w broccoli Popcorn chicken It was so much food I could only eat half. Eating a side order of jalapeño chicken for the drive home contributed, man it was delicious. When I mentioned the YouTube video to the nice lady behind the counter she immediately remembered and even said the items that eatlikeanapex ordered! Excellent customer service! Parking: free, big pot w plenty of spaces. It's not visible from Thornton Ave. though, look for Taco Bell and head towards the back of the lot and it'll be on the left end of the row of shops. Inside, it's small and you'll immediately see the buffet display. And if you pay cash there's a discount. This place is a hidden gem!

Plate from steam table. Chow mein, black bean sauce riblets, spicy orange chicken. Big portions! Delicious!

Great place in Hayward. Huge servings. The fried rice was very flavorful. The white rice actually tasted good. Really surprised there was orange chicken and spicy orange chicken. The sweet and sour pork was sweet and not overly breaded. They teriyaki chicken was good. The beef and broccoli was typical good and flavorful. The server was friendly and smiley. Cute place inside but no tables to eat at.

jalapeño chicken, mixed vegetables, fried rice

Wonderful experience, The food was amazing. I ordered the jalapeño chicken fried rice and the mixed vegetables. The mixed vegetables are so fresh and so soft very delicious.

Such a beautiful family owned establishment. I had one bite of their noodles and was literally crying tears of joy. The staff are very welcoming, attentive, and timely. Perfect place for quick authentic takeout.

Just the name of this place sounded like it would be quick and easy for a late night dinner after my run on Thursday. And I was right. Loved the colorful umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, along with a plush sloth sitting on the ledge, adding to the random and quirky decor. Staff was super friendly, too. I ordered veggie and chicken egg rolls, and the honey walnut prawns rice plate online in advance, arrived early, and waited as they prepared everything. It took 15 minutes (exactly as quoted). I later found that they forgot the rice that was supposed to go with the seafood rice plate I ordered... ummm, that's an important part of the order, even if not a pricey item. Too bad I was already home when I discovered that I only got the prawns a la carte. An honest mistake I'm sure, and I was able to make my own rice at home, so not a big deal. Though I do prefer to get what I paid for when visiting restaurants (or any business), so I think it's worth noting. I enjoyed my meal nonetheless. The prawns were super plump and not overloaded with sauce. And the egg rolls were full of tasty ingredients, and perfectly crisp on the outside, with the packaging clearly labeled to indicate which one was chicken vs veggie. The ladies here were so nice, and my experience was overall good, so even though they didn't exactly get my order right, I'm still giving them 4 stars.

When you enter and get seated, you will be prompted to go on the url code at the table to pick your items. While I understand that this is the new way for restaurants to serve guests post-covid, the vast menu items you have to scroll through makes me long for physical menus of the past - but that's just my boomer take for the day. There were a bunch of other items like rice and noodle dishes that looked interesting to pair with the meats, but we were only craving bbq so we skipped out on the carbs. We ordered a BUNCH of skewers, from the standard beef, lamb, pork belly to chicken skin and a fried quail. All of the skewers had the same type of dried chili powder spice seasoning mix so unfortunately there wasn't too much of a diversity in flavor profile but on the flip side, it allowed us to focus more on enjoying the meat quality itself (this is where rice or noodles would definitely help cut through the richness). All of the meats were incredibly well-cooked and charred. It is on the drier side, so be aware if you are looking for a juicier, plumper cut of meat that some other restaurants have. Paired with the Chinese vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil, they were super delectable. My personal favorites were the pork belly, chicken skin, and beef. We had some leftovers to go and the staff provided us some extra sauce to go so that's a big plus. Great food here and definitely will be back to try more of the other menu items for the full experience.

The rice cake (well not really a cake but inverted sticky rice cup) was cold and where is the pork floss? The chicken rolls were decent, the best dish. I didn't try the fried intestines but was told there were okay. The stinky tofu not really stinky. I think it is because we are in the US and many restaurants stopped selling this due to complaints. I can take that but the dipping sauce was lacking with no garlic flavor. The other items were nothing to write home about. We were waiting for our stir fried seafood noodles and finally waved down someone only to find out it is out, but no one told us. So we ordered pork chop bento as we saw the next table had one and the portion was amazing. Well, someone must have eaten our order in the kitchen as ours was half of the size as what we saw from the other table. The decor was very simple and as with most Asian restaurant it was noisy. Most people, local and from afar, come here for their 3-dish menu. When we first started eating here more than a decade ago, it was $19.50. But with inflation surging once again, the price has gone up to $38.99, which is still reasonable compared to other Cantonese restaurants in the East Bay. Our most recent visit took place on 11/15/2025. After attending the Bolo Yeung "You Are Next!" Autograph Signing Event at the Great Mall, four of us came here for dinner. It was busy when we walked in at around 6:20pm. The place was 90% full, with many others waiting for their takeout orders. We scored the last round table. The friendly tall waitress came by to say hi and dropped out a couple menus. (For those of you who don't know who Bolo is, he's the original "Beast of the East" and was featured in movies such as "Enter the Dragon", "Bloodsport", and "Double Impact".) We ordered a total of seven dishes. The quality was good as usual. The standouts were the scrambled eggs with shrimp and yellow chives (soft and creamy inside), Peking pork chops (crispy, meaty pork chops perfectly coated in a tangy sauce/best in the East Bay), and the bean curd strips and pork stir-fry. The tall waitress provided excellent service. She talked to us like family and was very efficient. She's been with this restaurant for a long time and if I recall correctly, she is mainly doing this for kicks (and some spending money). The price is really good for lunch, about $30ish per person AYCE. There is simple selections of meat including chicken, lamb, beef, the sort. And there are a decent selection of soups. I tried the Beef Tallow Spicy Sichuan one and It was really well done. They also have lobsters and other seafood upon request, and they were really well done too for the price. The sauce bar is good. It has your typical Soy Sauce, Zhejiang Vinegar, Garlic, etc. If they added a bit more different varieties that would be great, like Ponzu or Hong Kong Soy Sauce. Of the times I came here, I never really needed to order more from the original order. They always seem to put out just enough. The most important thing for me though, was that their ingredients were really good. In most places that I eat, I typically get a bit bogged down/bloated or I might get some brain fog after. After eating here, I did not get that feeling at all and I feel much more refreshed/satisfied than usual. I know this is a personal thing, but that means a lot to me. Of the things to improve upon, I think the menu does need to be a bit more clear. There is a feeling that only the side food bar is unlimited, but the rest are not. The breakfast menu does not seem very clear, as I cannot tell if this is a one time serving or if it is AYCE as well. The rear area with the self-serving also is a bit confusing. Perhaps some more frills to go with it would improve the overall experience. The other reviews stated that the service was not very good; this may have been the case before but the times I been there the wait staff has been very attentive so maybe they have been listening. Jack's Restaurant tends to eat up a lot of the attention, but this little nook in New Park is sorely needed as the mall is pretty dead inside. I will definitely come back just because I don't feel bloated after eating. Please keep up the good work and hopefully what I wrote was able to help you in your business. Thanks! 我一定會再來。謝謝!

My husband cannot eat dinner with just water--he needs a soda--but when we asked for one, it felt like it was a huge inconvenience for the server to get it. The food, however, is really good. We especially loved the chicken chow mein again. The biggest downside was the portion sizes.
