I'm quite shocked how much food they gave me after all of the Chinese takeouts I've been too! It's no wonder that this place has received higher ratings. This plate I have can get you full in no time unless you share it or save up for dinner later. The food here is even tasty. That two-item combo costs around $13! I heard that this restaurant also serves à la carte, but you can also go through fast-food style like what I had today. Place wasn't really big but the seating area in a way stands out. You can probably wait there until your order is ready. Also, I was scrolling through the foods from the display. Seems that many people ate here during lunch while I came here for dinner. Doesn't seem that they have plenty of options from the display for combo orders, but that's alright. Honestly, I thought that the Spicy Orange Chicken would be very spicy, but gladly, it isn't. I was hoping that I don't end up drinking too much water from severe spiciness. I have tried the regular Orange Chicken from a similar place, but didn't like it. This will be one of the favorite Chinese takeouts I will go to for now on. Looking forward for more!

Update: We tried 2 different food selections. Won Ton soup and beef chow fun. Won Ton Soup - 4/5 The broth was tasty, not overly salty. The pork won ton didn't have the firmness that I would have liked. It was more on the soft side. Taste wise, it was good. Just the softness of the pork filling needed to be more firm. I loved that the soup included shrimp, char sui, and Bok Choy. For the won ton filling, maybe mixing the shrimp and pork together might make the filling more firm and more delicious. Overall, I liked the won ton soup. I would order this soup again. Beef chow fun - 4/5 This noodle selection was good. The chow fun noodles were darker than I expected, probably due to the soy sauce that was mixed in for taste. The onions mixed in wasn't overwhelming, and blended well with the chow fun noodles. I wish there was more flavor from a well seasoned wok that infuses in the chow fun that I've tasted at other Chinese restaurants. But I liked their chow fun, and would order it again too. I am happy with selections that we chose. You get enough to share, and the price is reasonable. I would recommend giving Asian Express a visit for your Chinese's food fix.

Been coming here for years, portions are generous. I wanted combo plate but didn't want anything from the steam table because I wanted just broccoli in oyster sauce and they were very accommodating. Food is good and always fresh and hot. The egg foo young is huge and i loved the gravy! Great friendly service. Small inside with no dine in option. Great place to come for grab n go as they're really fast here.

This is my family's go to spot for Chinese food. I've recommended them to everyone I know. Consistency is most important to me when eating somewhere, and Asia Express in consistently good. The Newark location specifically, the Union City location was way disappointing compared to Newark. The food is delicious and fresh, the walnut prawns made to order is my favorite! Any time anyone is sick in my house our first stop is here for the hot and sour soup. The service is always great too, in person and through telephone. They've always been warm and inviting when we come in. I don't think they offer dine in after Covid but the neighboring room looks super cute with the umbrella ceiling. The pricing is great too, way more reasonably priced for good food and big portions compared to other places I've gone to that are way overpriced for mediocre food. We always get combos and do half chowmein and half fried rice. Hot and sour soup is a must, orange chicken and egg rolls are also part of our usual order.

@ Newark Square 5672 Thornton Ave Newark, CA 94560 "Asia Express" is the place to go for Chinese fast food in Newark, CA. Takeout only, no table service. This is a small place that serves up tasty foods both from a hot steam table and "cook to order" special menu items. This was my first time at Asia Express. I noticed they do some things better than other places- - They wrap your order in a plastic bag to prevent spillage. - offer condiments and utensils free - the server offered me fresh rice if I wait - discount for paying in cash I didn't want to wait, so I just ordered from the steam table: -chow mein -pork riblets -kung pao chicken This place has big servings! The whole time the young lady was scooping food into the takeout tray, I was thinking...."how are you going to close that lid with so much food in it?" All the food was tasty and fresh. The chow mein wasn't at all greasy. I was there at 7pm, Tuesday evening, and they were pretty busy. Good food, at a fair price, and large servings. Free parking in Newark Square.

It was as good as I expected! I saw a YouTube video from 3 months ago by eatlikeanapex where he went to this takeout place in Newark. It looked delicious so I went there this afternoon around 4 pm. There was only one customer in front of me when I arrived, but when I left a crowd of at least 6 customers were patiently waiting behind me. I felt guilty for ordering so much! I ordered a total of 4 Regular Combo boxes w 2 additional items each, $11.99 per box. Considering how they overstuffed the boxes this is a deal! I had half/half fried rice/chow mein. Jalapeño chicken was not too spicy and the batter was light. Black bean pork riblets Orange chicken Beef w broccoli Popcorn chicken It was so much food I could only eat half. Eating a side order of jalapeño chicken for the drive home contributed, man it was delicious. When I mentioned the YouTube video to the nice lady behind the counter she immediately remembered and even said the items that eatlikeanapex ordered! Excellent customer service! Parking: free, big pot w plenty of spaces. It's not visible from Thornton Ave. though, look for Taco Bell and head towards the back of the lot and it'll be on the left end of the row of shops. Inside, it's small and you'll immediately see the buffet display. And if you pay cash there's a discount. This place is a hidden gem!

Plate from steam table. Chow mein, black bean sauce riblets, spicy orange chicken. Big portions! Delicious!

Tried the steam table today. Very friendly service. Everything is delicious! Big servings and good price! Come and check it out!

Great place in Hayward. Huge servings. The fried rice was very flavorful. The white rice actually tasted good. Really surprised there was orange chicken and spicy orange chicken. The sweet and sour pork was sweet and not overly breaded. They teriyaki chicken was good. The beef and broccoli was typical good and flavorful. The server was friendly and smiley. Cute place inside but no tables to eat at.

jalapeño chicken, mixed vegetables, fried rice

Wonderful experience, The food was amazing. I ordered the jalapeño chicken fried rice and the mixed vegetables. The mixed vegetables are so fresh and so soft very delicious.

It was a bit unorganized and people walking around but not sure where to seat us. We finally got seated and had to wait a while and waved down people a few times to get out orders in. It is okay, I am here for the good, not the service after all. Right? I was disappointed. The oyster pancake was extremely fishy. The rice cake (well not really a cake but inverted sticky rice cup) was cold and where is the pork floss? The chicken rolls were decent, the best dish. I didn't try the fried intestines but was told there were okay. The stinky tofu not really stinky. I think it is because we are in the US and many restaurants stopped selling this due to complaints. I can take that but the dipping sauce was lacking with no garlic flavor. The other items were nothing to write home about. We were waiting for our stir fried seafood noodles and finally waved down someone only to find out it is out, but no one told us. So we ordered pork chop bento as we saw the next table had one and the portion was amazing. Well, someone must have eaten our order in the kitchen as ours was half of the size as what we saw from the other table. The decor was very simple and as with most Asian restaurant it was noisy. But I was there for the food so no problem. But the food didn't deliver.

Most people, local and from afar, come here for their 3-dish menu. When we first started eating here more than a decade ago, it was $19.50. But with inflation surging once again, the price has gone up to $38.99, which is still reasonable compared to other Cantonese restaurants in the East Bay. Our most recent visit took place on 11/15/2025. After attending the Bolo Yeung "You Are Next!" Autograph Signing Event at the Great Mall, four of us came here for dinner. It was busy when we walked in at around 6:20pm. The place was 90% full, with many others waiting for their takeout orders. We scored the last round table. The friendly tall waitress came by to say hi and dropped out a couple menus. (For those of you who don't know who Bolo is, he's the original "Beast of the East" and was featured in movies such as "Enter the Dragon", "Bloodsport", and "Double Impact".) We ordered a total of seven dishes. The quality was good as usual. The standouts were the scrambled eggs with shrimp and yellow chives (soft and creamy inside), Peking pork chops (crispy, meaty pork chops perfectly coated in a tangy sauce/best in the East Bay), and the bean curd strips and pork stir-fry. The tall waitress provided excellent service. She talked to us like family and was very efficient. She's been with this restaurant for a long time and if I recall correctly, she is mainly doing this for kicks (and some spending money). If you want some good Chinese food that doesn't break the bank, this is the place to be. Still 4 stars.

She was right; we appreciated her help and took boxes to go. The food was great and my friend flew back to Connecticut happy. In February, my wife threw a bridal shower and decided to use Good Neighbor to provide all the food. She went to order on her lunch break and met with the owners to choose the dishes. They were helpful and informative. The day of the shower, they helped me load all the boxes into the vehicle, using a cart for transport. The important thing to note was the cost was reasonable for feeding 20 people. The food was enjoyed by all the guests and we had leftovers for dinner! You just can't beat that today. There's a ton of parking and they treat all their customers well. Only thing to note is they are closed on Tuesdays.

Don't let the fair pricing fool you, it is a really nice restaurant!! The interior is incredibly clean & well maintained, it's a whole experience having dinner there. After dinner (if you have children, this is key) they give you a scoop of ice cream, which is included with your dinner / lunch. I took my little daughter there once, for lunch, during daddy-daughter day. She REALLY enjoyed it. They have great meat options & the noodles, vegetables, etc - you go grab yourself, buffet style. So you go load a plate with whatever you'd like to add to your cook pot, along with the meat. They have little soft boiled quail eggs that you can add to your pot - HIGHLY recommend!! They have, if I recall, 4 or 5 different soup bases to choose from. I've had three thus far & they have all been incredibly good. PLEASE NOTE - the spicy one is no joke, I am a spicy food connoisseur & I will admit, even on my "0-10" scale, that red spicy soup base was easily an 8. Interestingly enough albeit very spicy, the red soup base has excellent flavor; in other words it's not just pure pain & terror & capsaicin overdose... It's spicy AND very flavorful. Give these guys a try!! We will definitely be returning, although this has to be more of a quarterly thing. As eating hot pot with little kids is NOT easy for parents - constantly making sure they don't spill boiling soup on themselves. What we did was asked for a bowl / plate; so we could serve the children the various meats, noodles, vegetables after they were cooked... Also to prevent the children from sticking spoons into a vigorously boiling pot. (SAFETY NOTE - the cook pots are directly in the table, built-in cooktops. So be vigilant with small children. The wait staff will give you a tutorial on how to increase/decrease the heat on the burner and/or how to shut it off when you're done cooking. Aside from my concern of the children burning themselves, it is an EXCELLENT experience for kids nevertheless).

I am so disappointed in this place, you will NEVER find me back here again. Alright let's start with when we got there, we put our names on and the iPad said 3-11 minute wait. 25 minutes later, we finally got seated. I understand it was busy but this was just the great start to the dinner we had. We ordered and the food started coming. We ordered two plates of Mongolian beef to go with two plates of shrimp fried rice. We got the Mongolian beef before the rice which was the 3rd to last item that came out when we ordered 11 plates. The table was noticing that the rice was not coming out in time so I asked to cancel one plate of rice with not one, not two, but three different waiters. First two were not helpful since it seemed like they couldn't understand me or just didn't care and the third said "they already made the plate so it's not an option" and set both plates down. I was trying to ask since the rice came out so late and was supposed to go with the Mongolian beef if we could just take one off and there was back and forth without him backing down (why?? Does the money come out of your paycheck??). Anyways so okay we then get the bill and we have a service charge that we had never seen before which was $33 and we didn't see that so we tipped 20% on top of the bill. However we get chased down as we're leaving because they are shocked we left a tip on top of the service charge which now we are seeing for the first time. Completely our fault that we don't catch it before. But we had a 4 minute conversation about what the service fee was vs a tip and from what I gather they were saying it is not the same as a tip. However when we said "okay then ya we are keeping the tip on the payment" they were ECSTATIC!! Like shockingly surprised we did that so we walked away feeling like they lied to us about the service charge being a tip. Then the whole group taking the same car agreed that service fees are tips. I wouldn't know, I've never had to pay for one before. But after this visit on Christmas Eve I am just beside myself with the lack of customer service and then what seems to me is the blatant lie about the service fee not being a tip. I've seen other people comment on the rude staff and up until this point I had never seen it. Now I will not be coming back here and Din Ding will never get another cent from me. This was unacceptable.
