Got this off of DoorDash and it wasn't a bad meal after a long flight. The restaurant prepared my food pretty fast and it wasn't a long wait. The portion of the noodles and meat itself was pretty small compared to what I'm used to, but they gave a lot of broth. I thought that it was pretty good overall but nothing crazy. Definitely better pho options in the area but I would come back here if I was nearby.

Vietnamese broken rice cravings are crushed here at Com Tam Thanh! Com tam, Vietnamese for "broken rice", is featured and done exceptionally well here at Com Tam Thanh. Located in central Fremont within a seldomly packed lot, this restaurant commands a corner spot that dwarfs just about any other Vietnamese restaurant you've ever been in. Sharing space with a gym and cafe, it's a fine place to visit to grab a bite. After you've parked in any of the vacant spots, head on in and feast your eyes on the humungous dining space. For this particular visit, all patrons were relegated to their main dining space immediately accessible from the entrance and kitchen. The other side of the restaurant seems to be reserved for busier times or parties (it's a great space with decent lighting and high ceilings). With menus set out at the host's table, I would assume many customers come in for takeout orders. We decided to dine in this time but ended up ordering more food to take home (keep in mind the broken rice dishes don't come with soup for takeout orders). After being seated, the staff were quick to offer menus and serve waters. While waiting for the rest of the party to arrive, I ordered an iced Vietnamese coffee and it was delicious. We also set out utensils found at the table for each party member. The menu includes an abundance of items with some having different protein options. Among their appetizers, in addition to the commonly found spring rolls and egg rolls, they also had a crispy pancake. It came out fresh, crunchy and filled with bean sprouts, carrots and shrimp. It was served with lettuce to be used as a wrap and intended to be dunked in bite size chunks into the fish sauce before chomping down. Very hearty dish and good for sharing. The entree options included noodles and rice. With broken rice in its name, I had to give it a try and I was extremely satisfied with the outcome. I ended up getting the number 25 which includes broken rice, shredded pork, steamed pork cake, shrimp cake, and your choice among grilled pork/pork chop/beef/chicken). I settled on the pork chop and it was a decent sized bone-in chop that was lightly seasoned and grilled perfectly. The soup that came with the dish was a perfect palate cleanser. When finished, you may ask for boxes to pack your leftovers home. You'll pay at the tablet near the kitchen/bar area. I paid via credit card so it was self service; I'm not sure how cash payments are processed. Overall, Com Tam Thanh has all the Vietnamese cuisine favorites you're craving for including pho, sandwiches, vermicelli, and broken rice but by far, broken rice seems to be the go to for most patrons. I'd like to come back to explore the rest of their menu since first impressions were great! This place can certainly accommodate nearly any sized party due to its immense dining space, however the kitchen is small and likely staffed just enough to get food moving. Drinks get prepared quickly but food may take a bit of time - at least you'll know everything comes out fresh (and broken, in a good way)!

This is a fancy Vietnamese restaurant that used to have steak and grilled squab and some fancy dishes . Now is under new management and the menu is basic Vietnamese noodle soup . We came here for lunch because we had a big party of 20 plus people . It had lots of tables to fit us in . It also had the deal to buy three items and got the fourth one free . Inside decorations were nice and even had a stage to get on to make presentation . The dinner tables are good for wedding or reception for company events . However , the taste of the pho is fine but the choice are very limited . The dishes are " modified " to more basic than the traditional Pho restaurants. They don't have tendon or tripe or some beef rib bones and crabs paste ( for bun Rieu) . I am disappointed in that . Service was great and the restroom was clean . They have sandwiches and snacks , rice plates on top of pho noodle soup .

Pretty darn good, the restaurant is clean, the staff was very helpful and nice. The food came out fast as hell too, I ordered the Pho special and some spring rolls. Everything tasted really good and ill definitely be returning the next time I'm in town.

I DoorDash and I loved it! To me pho is a hit or miss when ordering online for the first time BUT this place definitely is a HIT!!! Everything I needed was packed correctly, veggies and silverware included. $20.49 shrimp pho- LOVED every last piece, sip and noodle. Thank you.

Good: Plenty of parking Restaurant is huge with plenty of seating & quiet. Quick service Review: I was in the mood for a sandwich. It was either here or Togos. I picked here and ordered a banh mi. An old guy at the counter took my order. He seemed grumpy as if I had bothered him. I placed my order he told me 10 min. When my sandwich was ready he plopped it onto the counter. I said thank you and he didn't reply. Oh well. So about the sandwich, I get home and open it. I looked for jalapeños, cucumber, cilantro. There wasn't any in the sandwich, just pickled daikon and carrot, mayo too and oddly, iceberg lettuce. Bread was crisp and soft, tasted fresh. There wasn't a whole lot of meat, what meat was inside was tasty. Just wish there was more of it. I had almost asked for extra cilantro, thinking that it would be included. I paid $11 for an ok sandwich, I should have went to Togos (which is a minute away) at least then I would have gotten a well dressed sandwich for about the same price .

Family and I went for a late lunch around 5P~ Got the Pho Dat Biet, Bun Rieu, Bun Bo Hue, Com Suon and fresh coconut juice Food was hot and flavorful Service was quick Restaurant is huge and they have a stage for karaoke, which the server stated it was for parties~ I saw just one guy seating people, taking phone orders and accepting doordash orders- so yes service might not be as attentive as you would like, but the food is bomb My favorite was the crispy pancake (banh xeo) Super crunchy and veggies were fresh Coconut juice was very refreshing Lots of parking spaces Definitely coming back here when im in the area again!

I really like the other com tam (broken rice) restaurants in San Jose but because I wanted to go to a shaved ice place in Newark later I figured it would be easier to come here instead and I still think it was a mistake. The place is huge and that the venue was probably the Mehran that I used to go often which was a Pakistan restaurant so you can host a banquet there. The service is fine and good enough. My problem mainly has to do with the food especially the namesake com tam which is not only limited in choice. I'd consider this more of a pho place that happens to have com tam on the menu. The com tam itself is also not very good. Even the rice and the fish sauce are not good because the sauce feels more like dipping sauce for egg rolls than actual fish sauce. The egg cake and the shrimp cake are small and unsavory. The texture feels off as well. They do allow replacing the pork skin with an fried egg which is nice. The pho are also so so at best. The kids menu exists but not on the menu so you have to ask. The seafood pho states it has squid and shrimps but it's mostly fish and fake lobster balls. There are so many more better pho places that it makes no sense for me to come back.

Tonight, I'm in the South Bay Area. And I've seen this, a lot of times. I'm finally here at Cơm Tấm Thành Restaurant. I think out of the whole South Bay Area/East Bay, Newark is like my favorite place to be. This is only 4.1 miles away from the Tesla Factory. I didn't expect it to look as nice as this in here, I see they happen to have the Stage up, and this is another great event space to throw a Party or Banquet at. It's another late night. And It's a good day, for the usual Cơm Tấm Sườn Bò Đại Hàn or Korean BBQ Beef Platter. I like how they really seasoned the Beef, and it was nice and juicy. I was thinking this was going to be a 3.7-4.3 stars, but I give this 4.3 stars out of 5 stars. It was a solid Beef Platter.

    4. GOI GA - CHICKEN SALAD
    Angela L.

Love that this place is open late! We were craving soup so we decided to try this place out. Large restaurant with plenty of seats. We ordered a chicken salad, combination pho, grilled chicken, and two thai teas. The pho was flavorful in broth, the grilled chicken was tasty, but two stars docked off due to the chicken on the salad not being cooked thoroughly. I still dream of the thai teas! Service was fast and easy and payment is through a self service kiosk which did not give us a problem. Overall, would give other dishes a try.

Banger food. I always get the #15 with the shrimp spring rolls. Coffee is also a banger.

However, the quality and service needs improvement. As soon as my family and I arrived, the cashier lady expected us to be ready to order. There were no other customers in line. I wanted to get the Vietnamese mung bean layered cake aka Bánh Da Lợn, but they only had the Pandan jello aka Thạch Rau Câu Lá Dứa. When I was ready to order, the lady just stood there standing and then said ready now (sounding somewhat annoyed)! I ordered a ham combo sandwich and an avocado smoothie for my kids. I asked if they used a lot of sugar and opted to lessen the sugar amount if possible. She did not offer the sugar percentage and just walked over to start making the avocado smoothie. Then a customer came in and she stopped to greet him, took his order, then finished our avocado smoothie. The avocado smoothie was smooth and creamy but not very enjoyable as it lacked flavor. My kids drank only a few sips and we ended up tossing almost an entire drink even after saying it was like avocado "ice-cream". It was a hot day too. The sandwich took a while to come out considering they had more than four staffs in the back (you could see the kitchen from the front register), but they still moved very slow. Some of them were just chilling and staring at the front of the store. The French bread was fresh and tasty though. They did not add much filling except for carrots and radish. Limited meat, pate sauce, and barely taste the aioli. Sandwich was still good with the classic, traditional Vietnamese sandwich taste but the one in San Jose did not skip on the quantity in ingredients like they did in this location. Our jello ended up have a mold growing so we did not try it. Texture looked solid though. We also bought the pork sausages which were tiny but tasty. Duc Huong for sure wins in all three categories for sandwiches, pork sausage, and having the Pandan layered cake I liked. Overall, this was still a decent place to get Vietnamese sandwiches. Going in with less expectations would make the experience better. They had a large table seating so customers could eat inside or order meals like a normal restaurant.

In addition to their various selection of sandwiches and fresh-made drinks/desserts, they also have hot foods at their hofbrau section for various sides of carbs (rice/noodles), proteins, and veggies. Tips: - no credit cards establishment so bring cash for easiest transacting. - try to visit during non-lunch windows as the store gets quite busy. - their rice rolls with pork or shrimp, in addition to their vietnamese rolls are sneaky addictive. Pho VN is located in one of Union City's popular Asian cross street malls, sharing a large parking lot with other outstanding eateries. The space inside the restaurant is large and can comfortably fit small and large parties alike. Reminiscent of the classic Vietnamese restaurants in this area, you'll find each table stocked with utensils, napkins, and sauces and staff scurrying around with bowls or trays of them toward their hungry patrons. As we walked in, we were motioned to sit at any of the open tables; the staff greeted us with menus and got us started with waters. Their menu is comprehensive and includes all your Vietnamese staples including popular appetizers like spring/egg rolls, noodle dishes like pho and vermicelli, rice plates, and delicious iced drinks featuring the traditional phin filtered Vietnamese coffee. For the pho bowls, you'll have the option of a medium or large portion with the primary difference being the amount of noodles you'll get and a slightly smaller protein portion. I ended up getting a large and it was plenty filling but the medium seemed reasonable as well. With each bowl, you'll get a platter of bean sprouts and basil leaves to spruce up your meal. Highly recommend dumping those in right when you get the steaming hot bowl! I also ended up getting an ice coffee - the flavor was strong and balanced out as the ice melted. It was a delicious indulgence! When it came time to pay, we did so up front at the register. They are cash only but I believe cash apps are also accepted. The staff were quick, friendly, and thorough in their service. You'll have a pleasant time here with your party and minimal interruptions from the staff unless you're looking to refill on waters. Overall, Pho VN checks all the boxes for when you're craving a hot bowl of pho and meaty pieces to go with those bites. I haven't had a chance to try their other dishes yet but this location is conveniently located, easy to get to and park, and accessible to other activities and eateries nearby making it very likely I'll be back soon!
