Spicy Beef Noodle Soup and it was delicious, the spicy broth had a kick to it, if you want more flavor and spicier you can add chili oil to the broth. My friend, he had number 51 grilled pork broken rice plate, and he said it was wonderful, the meat wasn't salty, it was nicely marinated!! The food here is great!!! The noodles are delicious!! The lemongrass chicken with garlic noodles had a burst of flavor! It was seasoned sooo well! The garlic noodles had a wonderful kick to it that balanced so nicely with the side of slightly sour carrots/daikon! I've also tried their crab noodle soup which is very ocean-vibe giving. One of my wife's top choices for Vietnamese in the area. We are not Vietnamese but both of us have old friends who all coincidentally are Vietnamese so we've eaten a lot of Vietnamese food growing up. It is in the Raley's parking lot and though the parking lot is huge parking here can be stressful especially at peak times and on the weekend. A1. Spring Rolls: Grilled pork & shrimp wrapped in rice paper with lettuce, cucumbers, chives, daikon & mint served with peanut sauce. These are probably the best Spring Rolls I've had in this area, the special sauce is definitely the grilled pork which is flavorful and tender and really elevates this simple appetizer. Short Rib Pho: Comes with a giant caveman rib sticking out. This was trendy a couple years ago but here is the meat is well cooked and seasoned and not just a gimmick. Broth is also above average and delicious. Shrimp and Pork Vermicelli: My wife eats this when she feels like something "clean" and it's great here. The signature special sauce is the special way they grill the pork here. Fried Rice: This was the oddest one, this one is their own unique creation. The restaurant is bright, modern, and very clean, which makes for a great dining experience. The experience can be a bit of a gamble. The biggest issue is the consistency--it feels like a different kitchen is cooking every time I visit. One day the Pho broth is clear and flavorful, and the next it tastes a bit bland. The bowl is a good size and filled with all the toppings that come with your typical vermicelli bowls. I personally ask for cilantro and lemon on the side because it just adds that extra flavor profile I like. I also top it off with hoisin sauce and siracha. It's my go to when I come dine in. Pho Mama is a very clean and colorful restaurant chain to have traditional Vietnamese foods. We tried the Fremont one and we were not disappointed. The Filet Mignon noodle soup came with flavorful soup. And its veg add-on included cilantro besides the typical bean sprouts and Thai basil. The grilled pork w/ egg rolls vermicelli was also well presented. Our favorite was actually the sugarcane juice. Again you can only find that in few authentic Vietnamese restaurants. The kitchen was efficient and service was prompt too. Overall, it was a good dining experience. If I may help the restaurant to improve, I would suggest to lower the grease content in both the pho soup and the grilled pork. The wrappers were fresh and the filling ratios were pretty good with a decent amount of protein. My primary complaint was the herb flavor was lacking. My preference is for the roll to have lots of fresh herbs and this didn't quite deliver there. The peanut sauce was pretty good and there was a good amount of it. Again, I like it with a little more peanut flavor but overall, I'd come back here as everything was fresh and I live quite close so it's super convenient. You could tell it was popular because of the huge line of people waiting outside. Pho Tai - really delicious. Meat was good quality and the broth was very flavorful. Really nice size of noodles and you could taste the richness of the soup. Garlic Noodles - these were ok. I think we've reached a point where maybe we need to stop with the garlic noodles, but I get it's still a fan fav. The flavor was very garlicky. Sauce was definitely on the more viscous side. Overall just fine. Marrow Toast - was excited for these but didn't really hit the spot, in my opinion. I would skip these. Fried Rice - GET THIS. The fried rice was so good. Really tasted that wok hei. Fantastic, deep flavor. I know - fried rice at a pho place - but do yourself a favor if you like fried rice and get this. Chili Oil Wonton - these I liked a lot. Super happy to finally find a pho spot in Fremont that I'll be coming back to! Came on a Wednesday evening around 6:30pm with a few girlfriends -- it's been getting chilly, so a hot bowl of pho really hit the spot. Pho Mama is tucked in a large, busy plaza with lots of food options, so parking might take a few minutes but it's manageable. I was really hoping to find a better pho spot than the one near my house (another Pho Mama). I used to love that location, but the food and service went downhill. My husband offered to pick up from this location for me on a lazy Friday afternoon. I thought I'd go with pho but ended up ordering the #62--lemongrass chicken rice plate with shrimp and eggrolls. It was delicious, just like how the Union City location used to be. The only downside was how long it took. I called the order in before my husband left the house, and even after making a stop at my son's school, he still waited over 20 minutes once he got there. I was quoted 20 minutes, but the total wait time was closer to 40. By the time he got home, his fries from Angry Chickz were already cold. I'd definitely go back because the flavor was great, but I really hope they improve on giving more accurate wait times. read more

One of the best pho spots in the bay! My friends and I come to this place all the time :) I always order the Filet mignon and brisket pho and it's one of the best pho's ever. The broth is good and the brisket can be fatty sometimes (which I like!!) I ask for extra lemons and a side of white onions w/ vinegar and they're very accommodating! They even give the fatty broth (hanh Nuoc beo) too if you want that deeper beef flavor! :) It can get pretty busy, but we're always seated quickly. We were in need of lunch and we though maybe we should get a bún (at Pho Mama it's called a vermicelli salad). So we looked around and we saw Pho Mama was nearby and we hadn't tried this place yet so we went. In short, a lovely spot to get some good Vietnamese food but parking can be atrocious. L O C A T I O N Pho Mama is in the plaza on Paseo Padre between Walnut and Mowry. There are a lot of restaurants and other stores so parking here can be quite difficult during peak eating times. So make sure you adjust travel times if you need to be here at a specific time Luckily we found a parking spot. This was actually a boba shop before it was Pho Mama as I recognized the layout inside when we went in. M E N U I didn't really peruse the menu. My hubby did as he is the expert in búns and he has a specific one he likes which is the lemon grass pork with an egg roll and shrimp. So we went for that item which is the House Special bowl #31 which is fairly priced considering the amount of food. I unfortunately didn't get a chance to take a photo before my hubby dismantled our to-go item into a bowl with all the elements separated so sorry! But you get a big container of fish sauce, plenty of lemon grass pork, 5 grilled shrimp, 3 egg roll pieces, crushed peanuts, some veggies and a bunch of bean sprouts you can add to the vermicelli. Overall, the flavors were great. Shrimp was fine, a bit over grilled, the lemon grass quite flavorful, egg roll fine and vermicelli also great. Plenty of food to feed two people.
