Great spices and curries Red curry was wonderful with medium heat. The heat was not only spicy but flavorful yum! Coconut rice is sweet! But that's how I like it with my Thai curries that have heat. Papaya salad was the right sour. I just forgot to ask for it spicy. Will definitely be back to try other items :)
Service and Staff: - All staff were kind and attentive Food and Drinks: - Thai Iced Tea: always a classic - this one was a little sweeter than I'm used to, but it was still good - Yellow Curry (with chicken): I'm not a coconut fan, but I was a fan of this dish. We ordered it with a side of white rice (enough for one person, but we split it to both get some). I would definitely order this again - Pad Thai (with beef): I would also order this dish again. Comes with a solid amount and it was tasty Miscellaneous: - Plenty of parking via a shared parking lot with other businesses - Good for small and large groups - Saw a good amount of kids here, so good for families - Casual ambiance that wasn't too loud, which was nice
My friend was craving for curry, we decided to come check out this place. My first time here. This restaurant replaced Sizzler where Sizzler was once here. We were seated right away. We ordered Papaya salad, Pad Thai, curry with coconut rice, and crispy fish with sweet sauce. Everything was delicious. The restaurant wasn't too crowded when we first arrived around 6:30pm. By the time we finished eating around 7:44pm, the entire restaurant was packed. I enjoyed all the dishes. The crispy fish was delicious. The coconut rice paired with the curry was perfect. The papaya salad was refreshing. Service was fine. You get a pitch of water at your table to help yourself with water refill. All in all, I would come back again and try other dishes. The ambiance is fine. One thing the restaurant can do is replace the trash can that is rusty in the gender neutral accessibility restroom. Other than that, the restroom is very spacious.
4 stars Came to Sala Thai and had a really great experience overall! The food came out fresh, flavorful, and with generous portions. The yellow curry was rich, creamy, and comforting with tender chicken and just the right amount of spice. Paired with the jasmine rice, it was super satisfying and full of flavor. We also ordered the Pad Thai and really enjoyed it. The noodles had a great texture, the sauce was balanced nicely between sweet and savory. It tasted fresh and made to order. The service was amazing throughout the meal -- everyone was friendly, attentive, and checked on us often to make sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant had a cozy and welcoming vibe that made the experience even better.

Love this restaurant's cozy diner vibes and solid Thai food. Service is quick and friendly as well. I know why this has been a Fremont staple! The pineapple fried rice was fragrant with turmeric which we loved. Also loved the cashews and raisins which made the whole dish so fun! The green curry was great as well and full of veggies and protein. We also got the crispy fish which came so fresh and was delicious with the sweet tangy sauce. I also ordered a Thai tea which was solid!
Mother's Day dinner at Sala Thai. Doesn't seem like we had the most original idea because the place was packed! However, we were gladly met with a wait-time of only five minutes. Seemed like takeout orders were just as busy as the dine-in option! Ordered online through the QR code, though it seemed like we had the option to order in-person when a server came up to our table. However, we were able to pay online as well, which was a nice time saver. We are regulars and have already developed our favorites: Crispy Fish, Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Crab Fried Rice, Green Curry. We wanted to mix things up a little and order things we have never gotten before, and we have now developed new favorites! The Pumpkin Curry was my favorite: the pumpkin offering a nice sweetness and texture. The Eggplant dish came with a piece of crispy fish which was to our surprise! The seafood (shrimp, squid, scallops) was an interesting combination with the fatty eggplant. Probably my least favorite of the three as it seemed a little incohesive, though we appreciated the sauce being in a separate bowl as to not make the eggplant soggy. The Kang Jerd soup was delightfully light and full of briny, full flavored broth. My mom's favorite by far. She is usually reluctant to take the last serving/portion when eating family style. Not with the soup! The fact that we chose three seemingly random items on the menu and having each of them be winners is just a testament to how solid the food is here at Sala Thai!
We stopped in for a quick dinner. The place was still crowded on a weeknight with about 50 minutes before closing. Pad Thai: Stir fried thin rice noodle with egg, tofu, onion, bean sprout and choice of meat (chicken) topped with ground peanut (4/5). Saucy and sweet. Crispy Fish with Sweet Garlic Sauce: Battered and deep fried filet rex sole topped with sala thai sweet garlic sauce (5/5). Jasmine Rice. The staff told us to wait several minutes for a table. No problem. The strange part was that the main dining area was full but the other section was free. After she had done a few takeout orders, she said the table is ready and seated us in the open section where there were other customers already. The wait was unnecessary IMO.
This is still my go to Thai place on FREMONT. They have the best Thai food. I have tried many items but my go to order is always the same. Chicken fried rice, padseeew, sala Thai fried chicken (the garlic sauce is addictive), and cucumber salad. These are my staples and they never disappoint. Consistency is key!
5/5 stars for a good Thailand's fast food by the plates diner experience; And, 5/5 stars for having the softest, most comfortable leather chairs I have ever sat in at their indoor sit-down dining restaurant.
I tried takeout from here on a Friday evening. I got the spring rolls, drunken noodles and red curry. I love the spring rolls from here. The crunch..the filling.. amazing Spring Rolls from here are a must try. The drunken noodles and curry is a good combo. I was feeling adventurous so I tried the medium spice and boy was it spicy. But it was spicy good The noodles were well cooked, the veggies were crunchy and cooked and the sauce was delicious Overall - Sala Thai is a must visit place
Whenever I want Thai food I'm always ordering from Sala Thai. Their service for did down meals is excellent and when I order to go food it's always the same quality as if I were to eat there. I often order their green curry, pad see ew, and pineapple fried rice. You can even request the spiciness level for each of these dishes too.

Another update! We recently ordered from Sala Thai and they're very good at accomodating any food restrictions. This time around we got the Crispy Eggplant with Seafood and Deep Fried Spring Roll. I would say that the spring roll was just ok. I would probably not get it again in the future. The Crispy Eggplant with Seafood had a lot of eggplant which I love and plenty of seafood. I did appreciate that they separated the fried items from the liquid as we were taking the food to-go. The only thing that wasn't great was the fish. It was very fishy. But the food was plentiful. Although there was a bit of a let down this time, we still go here for Thai whenever we are craving some Thai food and that says something. Service is always good. read more

Sala Thai has been our family's go to for years whenever a Thai craving hits, and last night proved once again why we keep coming back! After a long day at the beach, we were craving something warm and comforting. Since they close at 8:30 PM on Sundays, we called around 7:30 PM to reserve a table for four at 8:00 PM. I was a bit hesitant about coming in so close to closing, but the team was super welcoming and assured us it was no problem at all. When we arrived around 8:05 PM, the restaurant was buzzing, completely packed with a full dining room and a constant stream of takeout orders. Even with the rush, we were seated right away . The food was spot on as always: My Kids' Favs: Chicken Satay, Pad See Eww, and Thai Iced Tea, all huge hits with the kids. Pad Kee Maw (Drunken Noodles): Absolute perfection! Loved the heat and rich flavor profile. String Beans Chicken with Steamed Rice: The sauce had the ultimate spicy and tangy balance, exactly as requested. Portions are generous, so we even ended up with delicious leftovers to bring home. The service stayed attentive straight to the end, the staff thoughtfully checked in before closing the kitchen to see if we wanted anything else. We declined since we were completely full (and had already indulged in donuts and coffee earlier), but we appreciated the kind gesture. Sala Thai has some of the better and more authentic-tasting Pad Thai I've had in the area. Their crab Pad Thai is also worth trying if you want something a little different. A lot of Pad Thai tends to lean heavily on the sweet side, which isn't really my preference. Sala Thai's is still slightly sweet, but it's much more balanced and not overly sugary like many others. I also recommend the Pad See Ew and Pad Kee Mao. The crispy fish is another must-order for me--the crispy texture pairs really well with their house-made garlic sauce. I've also catered from Sala Thai for my wedding, and everything turned out great. The owners are genuinely nice and were very accommodating, taking the time to work with us and make sure our needs were met. That experience made me appreciate the restaurant even more. Overall, a solid spot for Thai food with consistently good dishes and owners who genuinely care about their customers. read more

Everything we ate was amazing. I've never had sole made this way, it was so crispy and the sauce was delicious. The pad Thai, mango chicken and the basil fried rice was off the hook. And probably the best angel wings I've ever eaten. read more

Decided to have a midweek lunch with my wife. I couldn't think of where she reminded me of Sala Thai. An instant yes for me. We came in at about 1145 and there was plenty of seating we were greeted and seated right away. My wife ordered the pumpkin curry and I ordered the Mussuman beef. She had hot tea. I had Thai iced tea. Both were flavorful with portions we weren't able to finish so he took some home. This place has been here for a while because the food and service is good. That being said the interior is pretty dated and could use an upgrade. Also, we had to pay extra if we wanted rice, which was four dollars each for the Brown. Rush usually/used to come automatically with most dishes at most Asian restaurants. $60 for two for lunch. Times have changed. Will still be back though read more
The service and overall visit is always so inconsistent. My most recent visit, while celebrating a bday just really didn't sit well with me. We arrived for dinner around 5:30pm and informed the staff that this was for a party of 6. No wait was required and the young lady said she could immediately seat us. Water was brought out along with plates and forks. Dinner consisted of: *GRILLED PRAWNS SALAD- Requested for SPICY *CRISPY SQUID [their version of calamari] *FRIED RICE PRAWNS - no spice *PAD SEE EIW W/ BEEF - medium spice *PAD SEE EIW W/ PRAWNS - no spice *PAD THAI W/ PRAWNS - spicy *CRISPY FISH WITH SPICY GARLIC SAUCE At this point the restaurant was semi busy but had a good amount of seating still available. There weren't large crowds of people waiting to be seated or anything. Food slowly began to trickle out- starting with the prawn salad and the crispy squid. The prawn salad had a good level of spice, nothing unbearable, but the dressing was undoubtedly salty. The calamari was good- the cuts of squid was thick, the pieces were not overly battered, but the plum sauce was not enjoyed. Do yourself a favor and request for regular sweet and sour sauce. Both orders of pad see eiw was flavored well but the noodles seemed a bit overcooked. Combine that with the noodles swimming in the sauce just made for extra mushy noodles. Prawn fried rice was bland and the best noodle dish of the night was the prawn pad Thai. Crispy fish was enjoyed by everyone and we enjoyed how crispy and hot the dish was when delivered. Food for the night was unfortunately so-so. The kicker was 1) not having staff around to request for more napkins 2) waiting around for a refill on our water carafe and not having a single person to make the request to. When we finally ask a gentleman, he responds back with "I'll be right back" and never does. 3) when we finally ask for the bill, the vibe is really pushy. The staff essentially give you the tab and immediately wants to have it settled. They start clearing out your table as if there isn't an abundance of seating clearly open. 3 stars. I had previously mentioned on the spotty customer service @ Sala Thai and clearly things do not change. The food is good for the most part but friendliness, patience, and attentiveness just isn't commonly practiced amongst the staff. I'll save myself the drive to Fremont whenever I have Thai food cravings, it's just not worth the bi-polar service. read more

We visited for a Sunday dine-in lunch. The food is always reliable at Sala Thai. Our favorite dish is the Crispy Fish with Sweet Garlic Sauce. The battered fish is fresh and pairs perfectly with the sauce. You also cannot go wrong with the chicken Pad Thai, which was flavorful and delicious. The photos I took do not do the food justice because we started eating immediately. We also ordered the Shrimp Tom Yum soup. It was decent, though I have had better versions elsewhere. The atmosphere is quite noisy and busy. Despite the high volume of patrons, the servers did a great job. Overall, this is a solid spot with great food. read more
We went as a team of 7 to have a group lunch. The food was definitely tasty. Portions were a bit big for most of my coworkers but it's plenty to eat. Ambiance was very casual and had modest decorations. Service was a bit on the slower end but our requests were attended to. read more

Food (5/5 stars): If you're in East Bay, Sala Thai is an amazing Thai restaurant in Fremont! We had a feast and I loved all of the dishes we ordered. Here's my ranking: 1. Sala Thai Chicken 2. Drunken Noodles 3. Yellow Curry 4. Tom Yum Soup 5. Thai Fried Rice 6. Pad Thai 7. Crispy Squid I'd order all of these dishes again, but the Thai Chicken was the star. My friend suggested this spot for Thai food last weekend so we decided to dine in on a Saturday early afternoon right when they opened. Parking: large lot shared with other businesses. There were plenty of spots when we got there at 11 am on a weekend. Ambiance: very dated furniture. I'm not gonna lie, the front of the restaurant looks pretty abandoned. The door to get in needs some WD40 and although the inside is somewhat spacious, the furniture appears dated. It feels more like a diner than a Thai restaurant. Service: attentive. We were the first to walk in after they opened. We were given a water pitcher with 2 glasses right away. The wait staff took our order and the food arrived less than 5 minutes. It felt like the food was already prepared beforehand and they just needed to reheat it before serving it to us. It seems too good to be true for food to come out that fast. Food: 2/5. I've had Thai food plenty of times and the food was disappointing to me. We ordered the crispy fish with sweet garlic sauce, the crab fried rice and the drunken noodles. The fried fish felt like it was kept in the fryer for too long. The oil they used is probably old since the color of the batter is pretty dark. I didn't see a lot of crab meat in the fried rice and some of the eggs were burnt. The drunken noodles were too salty. My friend, who originally highly recommended this place, felt bad about her suggestion. The last time she ate here was 2 years ago so I guess things must have changed drastically since then. The taste and quality didn't meet our expectations but the portion size was adequate though. Cost:$$. The cost didn't equal the quality of the food. Came here for lunch to meet up with a friend. The restaurant is usually crowded and busy. Service was quick and food was fresh and hot. We ordered Drunken noodle (Pad Kee Mao) and Fried Rice, both dishes were delicious as expected. Seem to be a popular restaurant as we saw customers come and go. The restaurant does get noisy if you want to have a decent conversation. Worth a try if you are craving for Thai food. read more

We arrived around 11am on a Wednesday and 5$3 exterior of the building looked as if it was closed down; as we entered, the place was pretty empty but our waiter got to us with some suggestions and menus immediately. I ordered the green curry on the lunch menu with chicken as a protein and I was quite impressed. We also ordered hot tea, a Thai coffee, and we ordered the drunken noodle as well. The food came out promptly and was evenly seasoned. By the time we left the dining area was full. If you are looking for a good Thai spot this place is worth considering. read more

My friends and I came on a Monday evening for dinner. We got seated pretty quickly, and it was nice of them to let us wait for our friends at a table since they were still on their way. We ordered five dishes between the 6 of us: pad thai, one of the curries, basil fried rice, one of the shrimp dishes, and pra ram?? They were all decently sized but I was shocked by how small the curry was, and the string beans were barely cooked in the shrimp dish. The pad thai was decent but I think the shrimp in the shrimp dish was the best. It was well seasoned and had depths of flavor. The basil fried rice was also done very well and the curry tasted good even though it was such a small size. read more

No not this location, but Sala Thai 3 warm springs location is halal.
Are they open for dine-in? They aren't responding to the call.
They are doing self serve in door dining. Essentially, you find a table number, you order up front, they bring the food to you in to go containers but give you disposable plates and utensils to eat there. They currently have no servers.
My friends would like to meet up here on the weekend. Is there outdoor dining on regular, NON-holidays? (Today is 11/26/20)
