My friend was craving for curry, we decided to come check out this place. My first time here. This restaurant replaced Sizzler where Sizzler was once here. We were seated right away. We ordered Papaya salad, Pad Thai, curry with coconut rice, and crispy fish with sweet sauce. Everything was delicious. The restaurant wasn't too crowded when we first arrived around 6:30pm. By the time we finished eating around 7:44pm, the entire restaurant was packed. I enjoyed all the dishes. The crispy fish was delicious. The coconut rice paired with the curry was perfect. Mother's Day dinner at Sala Thai. Doesn't seem like we had the most original idea because the place was packed! However, we were gladly met with a wait-time of only five minutes. Seemed like takeout orders were just as busy as the dine-in option! Ordered online through the QR code, though it seemed like we had the option to order in-person when a server came up to our table. However, we were able to pay online as well, which was a nice time saver. We are regulars and have already developed our favorites: Crispy Fish, Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Crab Fried Rice, Green Curry. We wanted to mix things up a little and order things we have never gotten before, and we have now developed new favorites! The Pumpkin Curry was my favorite: the pumpkin offering a nice sweetness and texture. The Eggplant dish came with a piece of crispy fish which was to our surprise! The seafood (shrimp, squid, scallops) was an interesting combination with the fatty eggplant. Probably my least favorite of the three as it seemed a little incohesive, though we appreciated the sauce being in a separate bowl as to not make the eggplant soggy. The Kang Jerd soup was delightfully light and full of briny, full flavored broth. My mom's favorite by far. She is usually reluctant to take the last serving/portion when eating family style. Sala thai has 3 locations and i think this is definitely not as good as the other 2, but it's probably one of the busier ones because its in a busy street. Rather than aromatic and a blend of spices, it's just salty. Tom yum, basil chicken, eggplant were all just salty. Even the peanut sauce for the satay chicken was watery and salty. We came in at about 1145 and there was plenty of seating we were greeted and seated right away. My wife ordered the pumpkin curry and I ordered the Mussuman beef. She had hot tea. I had Thai iced tea. Both were flavorful with portions we weren't able to finish so he took some home. This place has been here for a while because the food and service is good. That being said the interior is pretty dated and could use an upgrade. Also, we had to pay extra if we wanted rice, which was four dollars each for the Brown. Rush usually/used to come automatically with most dishes at most Asian restaurants. $60 for two for lunch. Times have changed. Will still be back though read more

The service and overall visit is always so inconsistent. My most recent visit, while celebrating a bday just really didn't sit well with me. We arrived for dinner around 5:30pm and informed the staff that this was for a party of 6. No wait was required and the young lady said she could immediately seat us. Dinner consisted of: *GRILLED PRAWNS SALAD- Requested for SPICY *CRISPY SQUID [their version of calamari] *FRIED RICE PRAWNS - no spice *PAD SEE EIW W/ BEEF - medium spice *PAD SEE EIW W/ PRAWNS - no spice *PAD THAI W/ PRAWNS - spicy *CRISPY FISH WITH SPICY GARLIC SAUCE At this point the restaurant was semi busy but had a good amount of seating still available. There weren't large crowds of people waiting to be seated or anything. Food slowly began to trickle out- starting with the prawn salad and the crispy squid. The prawn salad had a good level of spice, nothing unbearable, but the dressing was undoubtedly salty. The calamari was good- the cuts of squid was thick, the pieces were not overly battered, but the plum sauce was not enjoyed. Do yourself a favor and request for regular sweet and sour sauce. Both orders of pad see eiw was flavored well but the noodles seemed a bit overcooked. Combine that with the noodles swimming in the sauce just made for extra mushy noodles. Prawn fried rice was bland and the best noodle dish of the night was the prawn pad Thai. Crispy fish was enjoyed by everyone and we enjoyed how crispy and hot the dish was when delivered. Food for the night was unfortunately so-so. The kicker was 1) not having staff around to request for more napkins 2) waiting around for a refill on our water carafe and not having a single person to make the request to. When we finally ask a gentleman, he responds back with "I'll be right back" and never does. 3) when we finally ask for the bill, the vibe is really pushy. The staff essentially give you the tab and immediately wants to have it settled. They start clearing out your table as if there isn't an abundance of seating clearly open. 3 stars. I had previously mentioned on the spotty customer service @ Sala Thai and clearly things do not change. The food is good for the most part but friendliness, patience, and attentiveness just isn't commonly practiced amongst the staff. We visited for a Sunday dine-in lunch. The food is always reliable at Sala Thai. Our favorite dish is the Crispy Fish with Sweet Garlic Sauce. The battered fish is fresh and pairs perfectly with the sauce. You also cannot go wrong with the chicken Pad Thai, which was flavorful and delicious. The photos I took do not do the food justice because we started eating immediately. We also ordered the Shrimp Tom Yum soup. It was decent, though I have had better versions elsewhere. Whenever we have family over, one of the meals we'll have is Thai and we always try to see if there are any other places around our area and we end up always going to Sala Thai as it's the better options. And it does get busy for lunch and dinner...basically any eating times. So food might not come out as quickly or your phone order might take 20-25 minutes. We tend to just order to-go here and they pack it nicely. Whenever there's anything crispy, they ventilate it. Food is fairly consistent and we devour everything. Pricing can be a bit high but like I said, it's fine as long as it's good. It's been a few years and we've yet to find anything better in the area. But perhaps we should explore the menu a bit more the next time we go. read more

Seems like they were annoyed that I wasn't prepared with the phone number for the person that ordered it. Don't get me wrong I do like the restaurant, but they could have been a little nicer. The fried fish felt like it was kept in the fryer for too long. The oil they used is probably old since the color of the batter is pretty dark. I didn't see a lot of crab meat in the fried rice and some of the eggs were burnt. The drunken noodles were too salty. It's been some time since our last update. We are pleased to say we remain regular customers! The owners and staff continue to provide kind, courteous and helpful service while offering helpful thoughts regarding different menu choices and we are pleased to say their advice has always been spot on! We suggest you make use of their suggestions if you're sort of new to Thai cuisine. As for their food, since my last review we have explored more of the menu and truly enjoy the different flavors and textures they offer in a full but not overloaded menu. The vegetables remain fresh and spices generous but not overly so. The meat options are plentiful, your choice of chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, crab, fish seem fresh, tasty and properly prepared with the dishes of Southeast Asia. The restaurant remains popular and is often busy and for good reason. When busy the rather good sized dinning rooms can get a bit loud with all the talking and laughing in spite of various noise control devices.
