    Chowder bowl

The clam chowder bowl in sourdough and the pastries are all phenomenal. It's a clean restaurant with nice staff and lots of different places to hang out. Always like coming here and will continue to return every time we visit San Francisco.

Clam Chowder Bread Bowl @ $10.29

Always been curious what items were available. Weather has been awfully cold and wanted to get some warm clam chowder. Got the bread bowl and side of spicy ranch fries. Clam chowder was standard and fries were perfect fried. Don't recommend the upgrade to spicy ranch for additional $2 since it didn't make a significant difference. Staff was extremely friendly and customer based was mostly retired folks plus regulars getting bread. Atmosphere was nice and pleasant. Most customers ordered salad or the combos since those items looked like the best deal. Will drop by in the future if nearby.

I came here because I needed to kill time on a Saturday. The parking lot is messy because people, lol. I got in and ended up ordering at the kiosk, it was pretty easy and straight forward. I just got the half salad and soup, it was good. Nothing too fancy, elevated hospital food lol. Overall, the location is good, but it doesn't help that whole foods is right there also.

What can I say but I wish I could eat here everyday! The bread divine, the smell of sourdough wafts throughout the street and welcomes you in! The Clam Chowder bread bowl is just heavenly, not over salted and not under flavored just perfectly executed! Sitting by the fireplace on a cool breezy day perfect! The line was not too long and the service was fast and efficient!

Food and Service here is great. I usually do take out but a couple months back we did a sit down and it was not too crowded. Experience was great. I definitely recommend this Boudin location.

We came in for a quick and healthy meal since we were in the area and needed to pick up items from Whole Foods. The staff was friendly, and the restaurant was clean. The restaurant was about half full, but we still received our food timely We ordered a pick Two, that's a sandwich and a bowl of clam chowder. The meal was served quickly, and the soup was hot, it was just what we needed

3.5 stars, rounded up. We needed something quick after spending the day in Fremont with appointments, and The Wife had a craving for grilled cheese and tomato soup. Googling that, Boudin SF was recommended. You order at a counter, pay, and they give you a number for your table. So, like half table service. They also bus your table. The sandwich looked quite hardy, and the soup was presented with croutons in the center, a nice touch. I ordered a Caesar salad, and she ordered a side of fries. Both also came with a bunk of chewy bread and butter. The salad could have used more flavoring in the dressing. There was no hint of anchovies, and it needed more pepper. I liked the Parmesan shavings. The croutons were large and crunchy, and had more flavor than the salad. The sandwich was fine, as was the soup. Neither thrilled, but it hit the spot, and there was a half of each to take home. We probably should have ordered the half and half combo, but oh well. The place is bright and the ceilings high. Not much ambient noise. For some reason, they brought us spoons and knives with napkins, but no fork for me. Strange. Still, a good experience.

Food was fine, Short Rib sandwich nicely done, Clam Chowder bowl was good. Cashier was friendly. The dining area a disaster.

For the price I paid, I got just a little over half of soup in the bowl :(

No wonder they only got 3 stars. First was the encounter with the staff, the lady took my order was friendly but the guy prepared the food, he didn't even check when there's new order, made me wait, then he was rude when handed me my order. After I got the food, I was so disappointed that with the price, I only got a little over half of soup in the bowl, but thank goodness for the bread or else I think I will be still hungry after. :(

It's been a bit since I've been back to Boudin, primarily since they've changed their monthly free loaf reward program - you now have to make a purchase within the month to get the loaf. Fortunately, they still offer the free cookie once a year on your birthday month. And it is with this freebie that brought me in this time around. What used to bring me in the door once a month has now limited my visits to once a year; to be honest, without the monthly freebie, Boudin rarely crosses my mind nowadays. Don't get me wrong, I am still a big fan of their bread and soups; it's just my food budget has shifted to other establishments more top of mind. This location is notoriously known to have some of the worst parking in this area. To mitigate the frustration in trying to find a spot, I just decided to park down the street near the residential properties and walk down (it was about a 3 minute walk). There is also another mall across the street that has more spots but similarly as competitive. I came in for a quick lunch alongside my birthday cookie and decided to get the "pick a pair" which allows you to pick two items among sandwiches, melts, soups, and salads. With soups, you can opt for the bread bowl with an extra one dollar charge. The meal is quite reasonable in price for the quality of food and amount. I selected the half smoked brisket melt and clam chowder in the infamous bread bowl. The sandwich was great in the flavor department but a bit weak in presentation; the singular slice of brisket was a bit sad as it sat there sandwiched flat between two slices of ciabatta. Personally, I would have sliced it to add a bit of volume to the sandwich and possibly enable the other ingredients and flavors to be better incorporated with each bite. The clam chowder was excellent as usual and the bread bowl certainly fills you up as it soaks up spoonfuls of the yummy soup. I also ended up redeeming my free sourdough long loaf after my purchase so the trip out sure seemed a lot more worth it! The service was pretty good; staff were friendly and efficient. The food came out fresh, correct, and well packaged for my return home. Overall, Boudin still has what it takes to thrive with its extensive menu with highlights on their sourdough loaves. Bread bowl and soups are the go to for me here but the melts and sandwiches are great too. The melts need a bit of a revamp, I think, to add some more volume - as they currently stand, they don't stand out too much. Their decision to change the reward system may be a cost reduction plan and to me, it has definitely hit their marketability (I don't even mention or recommend their rewards program anymore to friends and family). Well for the time being, they'll still get my business at least once a year, if I remember!

I went yesterday to this location with my daughter and we got some clam chowder to go and she ate the homestyle mac & cheese while I had the new brisket sandwich She described the mac & cheese as past identical to Panera bread mac & cheese, and I described that sandwich as one of the sandwiches that Panera bread took off the menu sometime last year. The sandwich would've been better if the meat was chopped up, it wasn't evenly distributed enough across the bread and there could've been a little bit more sauce to make the flavors come out better I do like that they have the free loaf of bread option. If you're a member in their app, we take advantage of that all the time The clam chowder is always good and I have no complaints about it. I can't say that I would order these new manual items again, but I will always come in for the clam chowder and the wonderful bread.

Seasonal Cookie - Ice Cream Sugar Cookie. My wife loved it! There was a choice between pink and green. The outdoor patio area shared with Whole Foods has like a cute fountain.

Only got 1/2 a bow of soup since they didn't empty out the bread bowl and they don't even fill it up with soup. Quality is so bad here.

If you know, you know. The pastries here are absolutely worth the detour--and honestly, wherever I see a Paris Baguette, I do pull over. That includes locations I've visited in Northern California, North Brunswick, New Jersey, Atlanta, Georgia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and even the one here in Charlotte down in Pineville. It's a bit of a drive for me, but when I'm in that area, I always make a point to stop in and pick up a couple of their delicious croissant-donut pastries and marzipan or almond croissants. That's the beauty of this bakery--it's a chain, yes, but the consistency is what keeps me coming back. I have yet to be disappointed. Of course, I had to stop at this Hilton Head location--and I didn't come empty-handed. Food connects people, and bringing pastries to your host is always a winning move. I picked up three different varieties of their famous croissant-donut style pastries (similar to the well-known cronut): * Chocolate * Tiramisu * Mango And I added two large almond croissants that were beautifully filled, flaky, and indulgent. Everything looked fresh, full, and irresistible. The setup inside is easy and efficient. It's self-serve: you grab a tray, line it with parchment, use the tongs, and select whatever catches your eye--from baguettes to cakes to coffee drinks. Checkout was quick, Apple Pay was accepted, and the whole experience felt smooth and well organized. The space was clean, friendly, and inviting, with plenty of outdoor seating. Bottom line: Whenever you see a Paris Baguette on your radar, pull over. It's dependable, delicious, and perfect for picking up pastries to share--or to treat yourself. For me, it's one of those rare places that delivers the same quality every single time, no matter the city--and that kind of consistency is something I truly appreciate as a traveler and lifelong foodie.

Like any other franchises, Paris Baguette can be a mixed bag. For starters this location is definitely a more pickup and go location. There is very limited seating and the space is also a lot smaller. But what they lack in space they make up in efficiency. I've never had an issue picking up anything here either through online orders or simply walking in to grab a cake. The staff are always on top of things. Now let's talk about the cakes. If you don't order ahead of time or reserve a cake in advance, then expect the consequences of not planning ahead. The cakes they have on display or the back may not taste the freshest. But in my particular case, I've been fortunate enough that every cake I bought from here was fresh and moist. The staff would even be kind enough to grab one from the back for me without even asking. I bring this up because for bakeries through put is very important on how fresh their products are and this location definitely goes through their inventory constantly. For mother's day they basically ran out of all their cakes so plan ahead for those big occasions. What I also appreciate is they are always able to do a special message for you free of cost, and I always end up tipping extra because you can rarely find this type of service at other cake shops. Because of their flexibility and availability, I will always recommend this location to family, friends and to you as well. Plan ahead and this place won't disappoint. Looking forward to continue coming back here.
