Hands down the yummiest pastrami sandwich I've had. Yelp reeled me in with a picture I saw on yelp…read moreI had to try! I was pleasantly surprised with delicious combo of the filllings! Some type of jam, pickles, peppercini, and grilled onion. I chose it to go on sourdough. The sandwich itself took about 15 minutes for them to make and it was served hot. I will be back again!

Something made me think about Katz's Delicatessen in NYC and I suddenly craved a Pastrami sandwich…read more I was excited to find Mirchi nearby and a locally beloved pastrami with interesting ingredients. Location is near the Mirchi cafe on Fremont Blvd in the plaza right next to Wonderland smoke shop. There is plenty of parking. Staff was super nice and helped me open the stuck door that you have to pull really hard on to get in. The market is small but curated and I was drawn to the imported potato chips. I picked up a bag of Lay's Masala chips I haven't had since I was in Mumbai, excited to eat it with my sandwich. The sandwich took about 10 minutes to make and panini-press and smelled delicious. However, when I got home I immediately noticed the color and thought they had mistakenly used roast beef. I looked at some of the other reviews and their doordash image and I'm confused on what I got. The pastrami was missing the distinct reddish-pink color from brining and black bark from smoking, I'm not sure how it was prepped in-house but it tasted like roast beef. I did enjoy the blueberry jam and pepperoncini combo.

I had a very disappointing experience at West Coast Sourdough in Fremont…read more I ordered two meals totaling $52.60 (after using a coupon; the regular price would have been around $60). I also paid for extra cheese on my sandwich. After leaving the restaurant and driving to a meeting, I started eating and realized the extra cheese I paid for was missing. I called the restaurant to let them know about the mistake, expecting a simple apology or an offer to make it right. Instead, the person who identified himself as the owner argued with me, insisting that the extra cheese had been added. I politely explained that it was not on my sandwich, but he continued to debate me rather than listen to his customer. Eventually, I ended the call because the conversation was going nowhere. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What I don't understand is the lack of customer service and the unwillingness to simply acknowledge the issue and resolve it. My advice to anyone ordering here is to check your order carefully before leaving the restaurant. If something is missing, don't expect a customer-focused response if you call about it afterward.

That alone tells you how long I've been supporting this place, and they've been consistently amazing ever since. Sourdough & Co across from Kaiser in Fremont is hands down one of my favorite spots. The food is always fresh, delicious, and comes out quickly, but what truly makes this place special is the people. The owners are incredibly kind and welcoming. Every time I walk in, I'm greeted with a smile, they know me by name, and they always make me feel appreciated (even got a free coke and soup) Thank you! That kind of genuine hospitality is rare. They've even surprised me with small freebies from time to time, which really shows how much they value their customers. Because of that, I've been more than happy to support them, I regularly recommend them to my staff and coworkers and encourage everyone to grab lunch here. If you're looking for great food, fast service, and genuinely good people, this is the place to go. They truly deserve all the support. Highly recommend!

My wife and I ordered a medium Smokin Honey Chicken Melt and our son had a large Chicken Cheddar Rancher. I'm not sure how long these new Sammies will be on their regular menu, but we would order them again. We all enjoyed our Sammies and I also like the dill pickle they give too. If you order a soft drink, you can refill your drink with the Coca Cola Freestyle machine. Their service is always efficient and quick. The staff are also pleasant and helpful. There is ample seating inside, along with a few tables outside. The restrooms are also clean and well stocked. Parking can be a challenge, since they share the lot with other businesses. It was easy to order the free steak and cheese melt. Got my receipt and waited for my name to be called. It got kinda confusing because they were calling many "Mikes". I ended up waiting close to 20 min for my sub because although I told them my name was "Michelle C." they kept reading it as "Michael C." so I didn't think it was me. Since it was my first experience here, I wasn't sure how long it usually took for one to be made. Eventually I walked up and asked if they had called "Michelle" and they said no until I looked at the bag on the counter and it was my name. It had been sitting there getting cold the whole time. Not the best first impression but still appreciate the free sub!

We got the #7 and #2, and our food and drinks arrived surprisingly fast. The service was excellent--the woman who helped us was very kind and welcoming. However, the quality and service needs improvement. As soon as my family and I arrived, the cashier lady expected us to be ready to order. There were no other customers in line. I wanted to get the Vietnamese mung bean layered cake aka Bánh Da Lợn, but they only had the Pandan jello aka Thạch Rau Câu Lá Dứa. When I was ready to order, the lady just stood there standing and then said ready now (sounding somewhat annoyed)! I ordered a ham combo sandwich and an avocado smoothie for my kids. I asked if they used a lot of sugar and opted to lessen the sugar amount if possible. She did not offer the sugar percentage and just walked over to start making the avocado smoothie. Then a customer came in and she stopped to greet him, took his order, then finished our avocado smoothie. The avocado smoothie was smooth and creamy but not very enjoyable as it lacked flavor. My kids drank only a few sips and we ended up tossing almost an entire drink even after saying it was like avocado "ice-cream". It was a hot day too. The sandwich took a while to come out considering they had more than four staffs in the back (you could see the kitchen from the front register), but they still moved very slow. Some of them were just chilling and staring at the front of the store. The French bread was fresh and tasty though. They did not add much filling except for carrots and radish. Limited meat, pate sauce, and barely taste the aioli. Sandwich was still good with the classic, traditional Vietnamese sandwich taste but the one in San Jose did not skip on the quantity in ingredients like they did in this location. Our jello ended up have a mold growing so we did not try it. Texture looked solid though. We also bought the pork sausages which were tiny but tasty. Duc Huong for sure wins in all three categories for sandwiches, pork sausage, and having the Pandan layered cake I liked. Overall, this was still a decent place to get Vietnamese sandwiches. Going in with less expectations would make the experience better. They had a large table seating so customers could eat inside or order meals like a normal restaurant.

Fast forward years later and now I'm on the East Bay side and Rice Junky is no longer a memory of the past. Located in a small plaza, parking can be somewhat tough since the lot is small and the laundromat gets plenty of foot traffic, but it's free. The inside is decently sized although there's no space for you to sit and enjoy your food inside and outside. There's a tablet at the register for you to submit your order. I opted for their ham and cheese isaac toast and an egg salad sandwich. I appreciate the food being made fresh and the workers were efficient, but the isaac toast had one slice of ham and A LOT of cabbage, both fried in a puck and non-fried. The egg salad sandwich looked good, but didn't have much flavor to rave about. Overall, yes, the food is made fresh for you and it's a decent option to have if you're in the area, but it wouldn't be my first pick for a quick meal.
