A good place to try Mumbai flavors, specially thalis and fish recepies. They also have some unique recepies from provinces around Mumbai. One of my favorites dish here is Sukka Chicken/fish Masala. I noticed that not many Indian restaurants offered this dish. This is a self service environment. There won't be any waiters to serve you. Basically, you order & pay at the counter, then they will call you when the food is ready. Dishes that I would recommended to try is Sukka chicken/fish masala, Railway fish, neyi fry fish, & butter chicken. I would recommended this place to anyone who is food adventure & foodie friends.

Decor

Nice Decor to reminisce your childhood in Bombay ! Pav Bhaji, Frankies, Vada Pav && Dabeli were fairly authentic!

Surmai Fry Chk Seekh kabab Frankie

Overall, I would give this place 3/5. We ordered Chicken Seekh kabab frankie and Surmai fry combo. The Frankie was not good as I dont know why but they had put cooked cabbage in the frankie and the cabbage taste was overpowering chicken and combo didn't taste good. However, Surmai was nicely cooked but they could have add little spice and salt in surmai fry prep. Other than than, daal rice and roti were cooked beautifully. Overall, service was quick and ambiance was nice. Food can be better.

Dabeli

Went here as I was craving some chole bhature and dabeli. Chole were amazing and one of the best I've had in the bay area. But dabeli and pav bhaji were okay and felt a little stale (either the bun or the filling) Informed them about it and they offered to repeat but was in no mood. Giving 4 starts fir the chole alone.

Butter chicken, garlic naan bread, lentil soup, rice, rice pudding, and a Lime soda!!

Omg..my first time trying butter chicken. I figured I'm in California I've got to try it before I leave. It was DELICIOIS!!!! Chicken was tender, gravy was DELISH, the garlic naan bread was to die for!! Lentil soup had a hint of spice that my pallette appreciated. The lime soda was really good and even the rice pudding was good (I don't typically care for it). Treat yourself when you are in the area!! It's delicious!

Pomfret fry
Rookie Foodie Cook ..

The four stars is only for the Malwani/Marathi food they serve. The pomfret fry is the best version in Bay Area. They really are onto something. My sincere advice to them: What makes me sad is that they don't embrace it and instead have a large menu that tries to cater to pleasing everyone while their best gets lost. Anything we tried outside of the Malwani and Marathi dishes were just not good (I still didn't take stars off because the fish was out of this world, truly authentic). They should get rid of the Frankie's, Indo chinese, chaats.. making it cost effective too. Never would I have thought of ordering fish here had I not checked Yelp. The pomfret fry was crisp, not greasy, great authentic Malwani marinade - amazing. The veg kolhapuri had the distinctive taste of a well made goda masala but I could tell that the vegetables were parboiled in a way for dual use for pav bhaji so the flavors were not absorbed into the vegetables. Dal fry was excellent, drinks were good too. Frankie was a serious disappointment having grown up in Mumbai. They have a star in their Malwani chef that is lost in the middle of generic Indian fare.. sad..

My friends loved the spice level, they got medium but it more on the mild side. The Cajun fries were very crispy and perfectly done. Honestly, there's something here for everyone! We came on a Tuesday so some friends got tacos and calamari which they also loved. I got a mini quesadilla, a salad, Cajun sauces corn ans omg soooooo good. Service was outstanding! I visited with a few friends on the weekend, and the wait time was ~ 20 minutes. It's fairly small inside, so that's fair. Once sat, I made a dash for the complimentary cream soup, which is a childhood vice of mine. Unfortunately, I was left scraping the sides of the metal pot for remnants until they brought out the new pot. I was two bowls in, but I had only caved to hunger and an addiction to be snacking on something. The soup was a bit bland and sour, almost like airplane food. :/ There were also complimentary tea, but these were easy to pass on. For our meal, we had a pork steak and egg, which came with garlic toast and also a beef teppanyaki. The pork steak was way overcooked and tough, not the most fun dish to be chewing on. The beef itself was heavily marinated and way too sweet and salty to enjoy. Overall, eating here felt like a chore, and the best part was... finishing dinner since we didn't want to waste food.

The vibe is awesome, they have a great bar area with a couple of TVs playing sports, and the music was definitely bumping. The staff was incredibly nice and super attentive to our table the entire night. Food-wise, this spot doesn't miss a beat. One of the best surprises was that they offer fresh crawfish, which is pretty rare to find at most seafood boil places. Everything we ordered was packed with flavor, and the garlic fries were amazingly good. Honestly, this boil spot isn't lacking a single thing. Whatever they are doing, they need to keep it up! This has easily jumped to the top of my list as one of my absolute favorite seafood boil spots.

The Pricing Confusion: We placed our order at 5:05 PM, and the server initially took it. However, a few minutes later, they came back to explain it wasn't actually a happy hour deal, but a lunch special. This was frustrating since we had called to confirm and had already ordered. While our other food arrived earlier, we waited over an hour for the shrimp. We watched five separate tables who arrived after us get served their shrimp first. Even though we told the staff a couple of times that our shrimp hadn't arrived yet, we were still left waiting. The shrimp didn't finally arrive until 6-6:10pm. They eventually explained they thought we had already been served and suspected our order had accidentally been packed into a to-go order. The food itself was actually delicious, the shrimp and garlic noodles were very flavorful. I don't even have a photo of the shrimp because by the time it finally arrived, we were so hungry we just started eating! To their credit, once they realized the error, they slashed the price of the 1lb shrimp and gave us free rice to make it right The food is great, but the kitchen organization was a mess during our visit. Management was honest and tried to fix the mistake, but waiting an hour for the main part of your meal while watching five other tables eat is a major headache.

But the real secret of this nondescript restaurant and bar is its menu of authentic Indian food. We ordered a variety of items including Egg Bhurji, scrambled eggs cooked with onions, chilies, and spices; as well as a traffic light array of curries: the deep red Butter Chicken, made of boneless chicken in a creamy tomato sauce; the yellow Lamb Korma, made of boneless lamb chunks in a creamy yogurt curry made with ground nuts; and the green Palak Paneer, a pureed spinach curry with chunks of paneer. Finally, the Hyderabad Goat Curry was made of bone-in goat cubes in a dark brown curry made of onion, tomato, ginger, and garlic. All of the curries went nicely with the Tandoori Naan and Onion Kulcha, freshly-made flatbreads that were highlights in and of themselves! Overall, the flavors here were on point--my favorite items were the Palak Paneer, the Lamb Korma, and the Tandoori Naan, but everything was delicious and came at a good value.

And if you still manage to walk in, it's just meh. You are welcomed by this sad looking bar (if you can call it that, some people have home bars that look more enticing). The owners need to narrow down on what this place is trying to be. Food: we ordered chilli paneer and peanut masala- both were really good. We also got tangerine wheat beer which was good too. The pourhouse setup is easy to use- you get a bracelet and can get whichever beer you want using it. Decent selection.
