Bundoo Khan is hands down one of the best South Asian-style barbecue restaurants in the Bay Area. My wife and I had wanted to try it for ages, and we finally got an opportunity for a midweek lunch. The place is spacious and clean, and somehow has an American diner feel to it. The menu is limited but interesting, with the meat clearly being the main focus. There are hardly any options for vegetarians. In fact, my wife tried the only veggie option on the menu, the Bun Kabob (veg). It was fantastic: a crispy potato patty inside a soft bun with a spicy sauce. I went all out on the meat just by myself. I tried the Signature Chicken Tikka Roll (spicy), the Chicken Tikka (Bihari) leg, and the Chicken Gola Kebab. Everything was excellent. The gola kebab is melt-in-your-mouth soft. The roll was tasty, but pretty oily, so next time I will probably just go with naan. The Bihari chicken tikka was also unique, garlic-forward but delicious. The service was relatively quick. I never leave reviews, but this was unacceptable. We went to Bundoo Khan Fremont on 8/1/2026, and this has honestly been the worst experience we've had there. We ordered chicken tikka, and when we cut into it, it was raw from the inside with blood still in the meat. The outside was completely burned, but the inside wasn't even cooked enough to eat. I took pictures because I couldn't believe they were serving food like this. The worst part wasn't even the food--it was the staff. I showed the chicken to the lady at the counter, and instead of acknowledging the problem, she had a terrible attitude. Her response was basically that the black on the outside was just charcoal, completely ignoring the fact that the chicken was raw and bloody inside. Burning the outside doesn't magically cook the inside. We've been coming here for a long time, and every visit our bill is usually around $100-150. We don't mind paying that if the food is good, but the quality has been getting worse every single time. This was the final straw. Honestly, I wonder how many people are eating this without realizing the chicken isn't even fully cooked. Serving undercooked chicken is a serious health issue, not just a minor mistake. The food quality has gone downhill, and the customer service is even worse. If this is how regular customers are treated after spending hundreds of dollars over the years, I can't recommend this place to anyone anymore. read more

While ordering, I asked for the chicken tikka leg bihari version -- the cashier said that the bihari is very plain and that the spicy tikka is hot. I said OK and ordered the spicy tikka alongside a bunch of other things. After I ordered, I went to my table, where my son reminded me that we never get that spicy chicken because it is too spicy for us. I returned to the cashier right then (at that very moment, within a minute or less) and asked to change my spicy tikka order to the bihari version. She said it was too late and that it couldn't be changed. I was shocked, because all she had to do was go to the cook and ask for the change. We had to throw the chicken -- entirely, right there at the restaurant. We could not eat it. We ended up calling a server to take the entire chicken and throw it. The food was well prepared, the place was nice, and no complaints about the service, thus 4 stars. But personally, I wasn't a big fan of the food. Besides the texture, I didn't care for the taste -- reminded me of liver. + Grilled fish - this was quite good. The lady on the call was at some customer care and had no idea whether you can get a hot sauce on the side or not. I didn't place the order online as I couldn't trust the whole experience. We ordered 4 rolls on the menu - 2 chicken tikka, chicken malai boti, chicken seekh. We loved the flavors and I will definitely go again and try it in naan. I had the pleasure of visiting Bundoo Khan over the weekend, and it did not miss! I ordered the malai boti and chicken boti -- both were cooked perfectly. The malai boti was tender and melted apart effortlessly, and the chicken boti had that perfect char and flavor. We also ordered the kids' meal with chicken strips and fries -- and wow, they give a generous portion of fries! One thing I absolutely loved was the Raita dispenser -- genius idea! Bundoo khan is a meat lovers paradise and there are so many variants along with breads to go along with it so it's best to come with a larger group and try out a bunch of things. We got the chicken boti kebab roll and a Bihari gola kebab. The roti on the roll resembled a poori and was delicious (made me wonder why we don't use poori more in indian cuisine) and the gola kebab had "soft" meat that melted in your mouth - the texture is similar to what I've seen called as galouti kebab in indian restaurants. This place is open late, which is why I tried it out. Upon entering, you'll find stanchions that lead you to two self service kiosks, but you can also just talk with the cashier person at the front. I was curious because it had vermicelli in it, and I was pleasantly surprised that it just reminded me of jello, or something similar to that texture in this dessert.
