What I like about Ken's is they stay open during the early afternoon time slot, so for those of us not on structured work lunch time slots, we can stop in here for a bite to eat during the post "normal" lunch times. The customer service is really good here too, quick & friendly staff. The menu is deep, tons of options. Food is good, my sushi roll had a tad of zing, mango, tuna, deep fried shrimp tempura too. They give you edamame too when you first come in, a nice touch where other spots charge you if you ask for it. Highly recommend this place.
It's been awhile since i had a chance to come in. Super Lion King - 4 * Spicy Lover - 5 * Mix Tempura - 5* Everything was still as good as ever except no free fries anymore. Cheesecake was hard from being in an ice cold storage. Free scoop of ice cream was the sweetest. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was no air where we were sitting unfortunately. I was sweating which is not ideal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff is always very nice and attentive.
Value proposition here. Sushi is tad above average; the tempura is pretty good; saba fish is tasty and not too moist or too dry... all comes in a lunch bento box with many selections of items. Avoid Calamari... too chewy for me. Free green beans appetizer & ice cream dessert...yay! It's too busy for the limited staffs to serve a semi-full room. But they are friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seat yourself when you arrive. Pretty casual atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great place for value bentos.

I have gotten takeout from here on a couple of times ! They have reasonably priced sushi rolls and tons of vegan options! And that was soo great. The taste is always good , I tried a few of the rolls Big daddy, Mango on fire, Saishoku roll and L&V roll. The online ordering system is very simple and sends a notification that the order is accepted. The rolls hit the right notes in terms of sweet and spicy. I want to explore more of their vegan options - so definetly will be back ! For Takeaway containers, one small feedback the rolls are right against the wasabi, which gets on to some of the pieces , which may be higher than the amount I am looking for - makes it hard to takeoff - It could help if the wasabi was in a smaller quantity or in a packet or a small piece of butter paper.
Stopped by here for a quick weekday lunch and the food was so good & such a great price! We ordered a lunch bento box w/ teriyaki beef & tempura and a chirashi bowl. They also gave us free edamame! The teriyaki beef was tender and had the perfect amount of sauce and the tempura was light and crispy. The chirashi bowl had extremely thick cuts of fish & was a great selection! It tasted extremely fresh as well. The portion sizes here are huge, we barely finished half of our meal! At the end, they gave us free green tea ice cream! Great & quick meal, I'll definitely be back
Very, very good! I'm not a sushi lover, so I can only speak for everything else. Everything was outstanding! Definitely get the teriyaki sauce and the Katsu sauce with your meal. The lunch prices are awesome too! Service was a little slow, but we weren't in a rush. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If it's too warm towards the back have them flip on the A/C.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
I like getting their lunch bento box. For the price and amount it's a deal. I typically get their chicken katsu or pork katsu with mix tempura and sashimi. Their sashimi is a mix experience. I've had it where they give a plump size pieces and others are smaller. Is the quality great, no, but you get what you pay for. Sushi roll is okay. I would say it's a good lunch spot for the amount of food you get. Service was good and attentive.

We randomly walked into this place , hungry, and it was a very solid choice after all. I wish I took more pictures but we ate every bite as the food was coming out. The fish was fresh, my only complaint is that the fish portions were not very generous. I appreciate them not making up for it with adding more rice. We ordered a few rolls besides the 7 piece sushi special. We had more avocado rolls because they were fantastic, unagi roll, and salmon skin roll. All were very good. Located in a shopping plaza, parking is a bit tight during the holidays. it is located right next to Ike's. .on yelp it says you can make a reservation, but when we came, we were seated right away. when sat down, they served us some fries and edamame. which were good and delicious. their menu had plenty of options to choose from and was a big portion in size as well. the bento box looked really good! would i come again? yes, but i wish they had some eel options on their menu
Came on a Saturday afternoon and pleasantly surprised by their extensive menu. Also really appreciate that lunch bentos are also available on weekends. They start you off with a small bowl of french fries with ketchup and edamame beans? The fries were cold, but nice they offer you a little appetizer. We all went with bentos and I chose the saba shioyaki, CA roll, and sashimi. It also comes with rice, miso soup and salad. The prices here are incredibly reasonable for the amount of food you get. We also got an order of their seared salmon belly. The food came out pretty quickly as it wasn't busy at that time. My saba unfortunately had a ton of bones, so I was trying to pick through the fish as best as possible. The salmon sashimi was okay, but was very surprised how fresh and tasty the tuna was. The california roll had an off putting smell to me. The salmon belly pieces were very large but I have had better. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience for the price.
I am pleasantly surprised. My husband and I have been struggling to find a go to sushi restaurant since we moved and a quick Yelp search led us to Sushi Ken. We were familiar with the area and Sushi Ken seemed to always have a decent amount of people inside so we were excited. First off, they give you edamame and French fries right off the bat and that's odd, but it's also welcomed. We tried different rolls, their udon, and their omakase and all things tasted really good. The presentation of the items was also pleasing. Their staff was attentive and service was quick. At the end of your meals, they also give you a free scoop of ice cream so that was a nice surprise.

This place definitely deserves 5 stars! As soon as we arrived, we were seated right away. We didn't have to wait long to place our order, and they even gave us complimentary edamame to start. Our server provided amazing service--her smile was contagious and really added to the overall experience. When the service is great, the food somehow tastes even better! And without a doubt, the food was delicious. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful, and I definitely left satisfied. One of my favorite things about this place is their hours. They close a little later than most sushi restaurants, which is a huge plus for me. A lot of the sushi spots I go to close around 8 PM, but this one stays open until 10 PM, making it a great option for a later dinner. There's also plenty of parking since it's located in a shopping center with lots of great restaurants and stores nearby. Overall, great food, amazing service, convenient hours, and plenty of parking. I have not been in this building for years and it used to be Miki Bistro, but I believe that rebranded as Sushi Ken. My parents and I used to come here for dinner when I was a teenager, but stopped going there because food quality diminished overtime. Based on my experience here, they are doing well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I went inside, it was really dark. I like how they had huge fans since it's really hot today. I also like how they decorated the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]If only they're able to do something with the lights, but that doesn't really affect my experience much.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Let's talk about the food. I like how I'm given edamame even before I started ordering. Really tasty though and I think it gives a lot of protein. I decided to order Saba Shioyaki and Mix Tempura in a lunch bento since I've been getting chicken teriyaki and California roll whenever I come to Japanese restaurants. Honestly, the portion is really big for a lunch bento, but I guess it's because tempura tends to be bigger in size. Really delicious and I miss having Saba. It reminded me of the old days that I have it. The orange doesn't seem to be quite ready since it's a bit ripe. Just like some Japanese restaurants, they usually serve green tea ice cream after meals are done. However, mines is vanilla ice cream, which is alright with me. I've been back several times since my original visit. I love their vegan menu! It's probably my favorite vegan sushi spot in the South Bay because they actually invest in making unique and delicious vegan rolls that aren't ridiculously overpriced. Plus, it's not fully vegan so there are plenty of options for non-vegan friends and family. I've tried so many of their vegan options: Big Daddy Roll, Mango Secret Roll, Saishoku Roll Shiitake Meet Avocado Roll, Spicy Tofu Crunch, Spicy Veggie Roll, Spicy Veggie Tofu Roll, Vegan King, Veggie on Fire Roll, and Vegan Jalapeno Bomb app. My favorite rolls I've had are: Shiitake Meet Avocado, Spicy Veggie Tofu Roll, Big Daddy Roll, and Saishoku. I've also had their house made mango iced tea, I like it's not overly sweet. I'm not a fan of the deep-fried rolls, so I think it would be great if they separated them on the vegan menu, just like they do on the non-vegan version. I accidentally got some deep-fried rolls and didn't enjoy them as much as others. I have to say I'm also not a fan of the Veggie on Fire Roll even though it's not fried. The vegan jalapeño bomb appetizer was good, but it was too heavy to eat more than one piece. I have friends that live in the East Bay and Tri-Valley area so it's nice to have an option to meet in the middle that I genuinely enjoy. read more

Sushi rolls, sashimi, rice, udon and ramen are all available at Sushi Ken and with their generous lunch combos served until 4 pm every day and dinner combos with two or three item selections are sure to satisfy that craving for Japanese cuisine, filling you up and keeping it all under 20 dollars a person. Sushi Ken is located in a bustling mall in downtown Fremont serving the local community for everyday needs. The parking lot can get a bit chaotic but if you're fine with walking, consider parking a bit further toward the side of the mall rather than in the middle near the main entrance (i.e., the closer you are to the coffee shops, the busier it is). Once you step foot into the restaurant, you'll be amazed at the colorful wallpaper depicting people at a fish market. You'll have the option to sit near the sushi bar or at one of the many tables and booth available. The place is quite large and it doesn't seem like they get a lot of foot traffic. There is a large TV that was playing the sports game of the night but otherwise, it was pretty quiet. I had originally made a reservation through Yelp but it clearly wasn't needed as we were just about the only patrons until about halfway through the dinner service. After being seated, we were given menus and waters. We had a bit of time to peruse the menu and ended up getting a few rolls and a three piece dinner combo including the saba (mackerel), tempura, sashimi, soup, and salad. The food was good and for the price, a decent value for Japanese food. As part of our meal, they also served a side of edamame and French fries for us to start on. California roll - very heavy on the imitation crab and not as balanced with the avocado but for fans of this roll, you'll have a good time with this protein rich bite. Unagi avocado roll - presentation on this decently balanced roll could be a bit better but it serves its purpose. Pieces of eel and avocado balanced in each bite, you'll get your fix with this one. Mango spider roll - beautiful and refreshing with sweet slices of mango. Perfect for the kiddos. Saba shioyaki - decently prepared mackerel although a bit dryer than others I've had. The taste was lighter than others as well. The portions were decent and paired nicely with the good mound of rice. Sashimi - thick and meaty pieces of tuna and salmon were delicious and melted in your mouth. Tempura - typically not a fan of tempura but the variety was great - shrimp, sweet potato, broccoli, and squash were all represented. Soup - miso soup came with the meal but was a bit saltier than I'd like. It still came out hot though! As an end to the meal, they also served a helping of ice cream (green tea). We originally came in for a birthday but they don't seem to do anything special for it so the ice cream was a nice consolation. The staff were generally present and helpful. When we asked for no ice in our waters and were given ice, they quickly corrected the mistake. Our waters didn't need constant filling so we didn't really experience the topping off that we typically see in other dine-in establishments. Overall, Sushi Ken has all things Japanese served at reasonable prices and decent portions. They don't seem to do anything exceptionally well, however, you'll get your fix and a pretty good value. It's probably best to get the combos when possible to make the most of your experience but their food options are priced well enough for dining anytime. There are 10 vegan sushi rolls, lots of vegan options -- I love their sushi. I've been here more times than I can count; this is one of my favorite restaurants. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great for dates and celebrations -- nice ambience, quiet enough that you can hear everyone and have a good conversation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food comes out really fast, and they give you complimentary edamame and ice cream. Their white wine is pretty good, and I highly recommend the sake. According to my meat-eater friends, the regular sushi is equally as tasty. Service is amazing fast and good. read more
I ordered the dinner bento with beef teriyaki, which came with miso soup, tempura, sashimi, and a side salad. Surprisingly, it was really good! Although the beef was a bit heavy on the sauce, I had some leftover beef at home and ended up using the extra sauce with it. The portion size was generous -- I shared it with my husband. Overall, the dinner bento box was definitely worth it. Total: $22. You can call ahead to place a takeout order, but I recommend timing your call so you arrive just before pickup. That way, everything stays fresh. My tempura was still crispy when I got home! read more

Sushi Ken has been a mixed but generally positive experience for us. We appreciated the complimentary edamame, French fries, and ice cream, which was a nice touch. On one visit, we tried the chicken teriyaki bento and chicken katsu bento. They were a bit underwhelming overall, and the chicken katsu was slightly dry. The tempura, however, was well prepared and enjoyable. On another visit, we tried their sushi and were much more impressed -- especially with the vegan options. The Mango Secret Roll and Vegetarian Tiger Roll were standout dishes and very flavorful. Service was fast on both occasions. read more
My wife and I were craving for some Japanese food for lunch. After looking up some restaurants locally, here we are at Sushi Ken after reading the reviews. We came in, sat down, and we were given fries with cold edamame along the menu I knew this is going to be an interesting experience. I mean fries? This is the FIRST time that I have ever been served fries on a meal. Hahaha, but hay, my wife enjoyed them while I sat there in awe and a tiny bit of confusion? I looked at the menu and to my SHOCK, wait what? $12.95 on a 2 item combo bento and 3 item combo for $14.95? With inflation, these guys took the hit themselves instead of passing it to customers. The last time I checked, a McDonald's meal was almost the same as a bento lunch here? My wife and I got the 2 & 3 item bento combo and we were both curious as to how the food would turn out. Guess what? They turned out pretty good! LOL. Now, the inside, they have a wallpaper of a Japanese fish market on the wall and it looked pretty good with the overall look of the restaurant. My 3 star experience has slowly gotten up to 4. After we finish our meal and the bill came, a small scoop of ice cream was served. Wait, free? Yes...FREE. My experience with Sushi Ken was good. Here's my take, if you wanna come by yourself and your family, it's a hidden gem for some decent Japanese food and a BIG bang for your buck. However, if you wanna come with a special someone, a boss or anyone you wanna impress....I probably check elsewhere. (The chef/waiter/waitress inside are not Japanese) Ya, you get the idea. read more

The food here is actually really good and comes out super fast, but the environment makes it hard to enjoy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was hot as hell inside--honestly uncomfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also noticed the cups were dirty, and there were flies and gnats flying around the table while we were trying to eat, which is a huge turn-off.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On the positive side, the decor is nice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], the menu selection is solid, and the customer service was good for the most part. Pretty affordable sushi rolls and bento box deals. The portions are pretty generous and there is a wide range of sushi rolls that are creative and delicious. Staff is friendly and the restaurant is spacious. It's nice that they provide complimentary edamame and fries w/ ketchup (albeit usually cold & stale) for appetizers and a single scoop of ice cream for dessert. read more
We went to Philz and saw Sushi Ken sign. So glad we came in and had late lunch here because it was worth it. The fish is fresh and the rice to fish ratio is great!! I love all the complementary food they were giving their customers. The price is also reasonable. The quality is great!! The service is great. The food came out quickly and my hot tea is refilled. My family and I dropped by for lunch after visiting the hospital the other day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside of the restaurant was a lot more bustling than it appeared.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were greeted when we walked in and a worker immediately rearranged tables to cater to our party size. While we were looking through the menu, they gave us tea and complimentary appetizers: edamame and fries. They even gave us an extra bowl for the edamame shells. And at the end, they gave us a little icecream treat. There is a good variety of options on the menu, ranging from rice bowls to bento plates to sushi rolls and soups. After a bit of a wait (that we didn't mind considering it was peak hours), I got my bento plate with 2 sides. I chose Chicken Katsu with Mixed Tempura and California Rolls. It came with rice, salad, and a miso soup which arrived first. Each and every component was great. I love tempura and I love that there's a mixed option because I like both vegetable and shrimp tempura. One thing of note, the shrimp tempura had a bit more batter than I desired. The pumpkin, eggplant, broccoli, and carrot were wonderful though. I also tried the Agedashi Tofu my aunt ordered. It was lightly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I keep hearing about this place from locals for a while now so I gave it a shot. I am always up for trying new places. We went here on my bf's bday for dinner. It was almost a full house but we got seated and served quickly. I got Saba shioyaki bento and my bf got Curry katsu. My bento was okay, not the best but not the worst. I wouldn't mind ordering it again. The curry katsu was really bad. My bf was being polite and didn't want me to say anything but it was incredibly salty and not edible. I asked the staff if they can please remake it and they gladly did which was nice. When we got the second dish it was still not very good and still salty. Almost like the sauce had too much S&B Curry Powder and not much of any other flavor. I expected my typical Japanese Curry flavors, umami, slightly sweet, slightly salty, mild aroma of spices. But this one smelted strong of curry powder and ginger. I felt bad for my bf who had a bad meal on his bday. Service was okay, the server wasn't very nice, no eye contact just place our plates in front of us and leaves. But it was quick. Overall I don't think I will be coming back. I have a couple of favorite Japanese restaurants in the area that have better service and better curry katsu. read more

I came here for lunch and will not be returning. First, the lights were off for half of my meal. There was no power outage as the TV was still on. While waiting for my food, the waitress brought out complimentary edamame and French fries. The fries were soggy and drenched in ketchup. The edamame tasted like someone sprinkled the whole bottle of salt on it. My chirashi don came with a side of miso soup and salad. The fish was cut so thick. The quality was bad; you could tell it was wasn't fresh. I didn't end up finishing and threw half of it away. The best part of the meal was the free vanilla ice cream at the end. read more

We ordered a huge takeout meal for 20 ppl. So the review is based off that, the food was packaged great with no spillage and the sushi itself was still fresh when eaten like 45minutes later. The chicken teriyaki and galbi were solid non sushi meals as well. Katsu was a little dry but can't do much about takeout for that Sashimi was pretty fatty and actually had rice that came with it which was unexpected for a sashimi platter Overall great service and easy ordering online California rolls were solid as well and all plated very nicely read more

I placed a pick up order from Uber Eats since I had some credits so can't speak to the dine in service but the staff who helped me pick up my order was nice. I ordered the chirashi don with mixed fish. The portion was huge. I ordered a miso soup as well but was pleasantly surprised that my don bowl came with another miso and salad during lunch.
