They have an area you can lounge around and chill
Samuel I.

This poke place feels nice and relaxed. The staff feel the same way and match the environment. They have "Okinawan Tea" on their menu, and I thought to myself "Self, that is oddly specific and I don't remember any other bobba place having this." So ordered one and wasn't disappointed. The poke is delicious as well, but my wife felt the salad was a little dry. Overall, a good experience.

Glad veggie bowl is a righteously a couple bucks off. Asked what is vegan and got lemon dressing and furikake -sesame seeds seaweed Also got a boba with heart jelly fruit tea

Ordered to go and was impressed by the quality. They offer option to use purple rice as a base, which is a unique and healthy touch. One of the standout features is that they use real, fresh pineapple instead of canned, showing they care about their ingredients. The fish is sliced thinly, unlike the chunky pieces you often get at other poke places, and it's very well prepared with no strange smell or aftertaste. The flavors are fresh and vibrant, making for an enjoyable meal. However, I do wish the portion sizes were a bit larger, especially considering the price. Despite that, it's a solid choice for anyone looking for high quality poke.

This is some EXTREMELY good poke!! Very fresh and you get a lot out of it. I got the osumo bowl to go and got a huge tray that filled me up for lunch and dinner! Underrated place, I highlight recommend it!

3 scoop poke bowl

Stopped by here during lunch break and they always load up my bowl to bursting. The fish is ok and i appreciate the amount of toppings they give you can see how much you get! They have a lot of different things on their menu, even drinks but when I asked for a milk tea they said they didn't have quite a few of them... understandable since it seemed a little slow that day and they had a lot of stuff on their menu. Still, would be nice. I have been here before when it was ice cube creamery and noticed they still had some of the historic furniture from before (berkeley stadium seat tables) and new decor. It also says it's a tap room so I am curious about how it is at night as well. I hope they do well!

$12.95 before tax

This might be one of the newer poke spots in Fremont, opening just 4 years ago. Despite this place not considered 'new' anymore, it has the least amount of reviews likely due to location in comparison to the other poke restaurants. Osumo is located in a residential neighborhood and unless a customer is visiting a friend, there's no reason why a non-resident would be in the area. However I hope Osumo's multiple 5 star reviews will speak for the quality and service itself. I hope that after their name spreads and gain popularity, they continue to serve protein generously. I had a small bowl of 3 scoops of protein and premium toppings included for $14. No complaints at all because unlike the Mowry owner, I was felt like I was served the adequate portions of food I paid for. My bowl was full, aesthetically pleasing, and savory. The $14 was after tax and pre-tax included crab and seaweed salad, yum!

Osumo Bowl w/ my choices of ingredients

This Poke house is clean and neat. My friend and I ordered two Osumo Bowls. Basically you get to choose 4 different kinds of protein(tunas, shrimps, or crab eggs) and assorted vegetables plus sauces. You can also choose three different kinds of starches to go w/ it(white rice, and tow others). The quantity was good too. For simplicity, they only serve ice water. Anyhow, it's a refreshing experience.

Hours

Love the poke, some of the best I've found in the bay. Only downfall is their hours are limited, so make sure to check before you go.

Now they have 2 other tap rooms, so no restaurant at those, just beer taps and maybe some cold snacks to munch on. This one in Fremont and another in San Rafael are both just taprooms. The Fremont one is in an industrial/business park so it looks like a storage unit with roll up doors. It took over another brewery Das Brew within the last couple of years. They did rearrange the space and decorated it to their specs. I do like the new look, it's clean and cohesive. I've seen about 8-10 taps being poured, all their own. Not sure how they are trying to be known now, but when I first visited their original location almost a decade ago, their beer model was to come close to English ales. These are more malty and not as heavily hopped/bitter as American craft brews. And this was in a time when Americans were going crazy for IPA types. So a bold move I thought imo. Traditional English ales also aren't as carbonated as American beers and usually served not as cold. I've actually come to respect those traits as I can taste more of the flavors when it isn't so icy cold. I've only tried 3 brews so far and in what I've experienced they are still a lot closer to that English mode of brews than American styles. Amber ($9/4*) Malty and soft, very English in taste and sensabilities. Surprisingly balanced, the more sips I took, the more I noticed it. Noticeable roasty malt notes blurring it with a brown ale. Kolsch (3.5*) This is a light German Ale. Meant for refreshment on warm days, much like a light lager. This was just a standard light beer to me, similar to golden and/or blonde ales. Nothing was wowing me, nor makes me crave it. But it is clean and drinkable. Goes good with the Mexican food from the food stand outside or bring in your own pizza. Guns of Brixton IPA (3.5*) This is a west coast style IPA so supposed to be pretty hoppy and dank. It is indeed hoppy and bitter but much lighter than most other west coast IPAs out there. Again it took about half a glass for me to appreciate this more. Even though not in-your-face boldness, after a glass or 2, you'll know you're drinking an IPA. And love their Clash references to some of their brew names, again very English and makes me feel like I'm in on a joke/secret. Lol Rounding up.

But the real secret of this nondescript restaurant and bar is its menu of authentic Indian food. We ordered a variety of items including Egg Bhurji, scrambled eggs cooked with onions, chilies, and spices; as well as a traffic light array of curries: the deep red Butter Chicken, made of boneless chicken in a creamy tomato sauce; the yellow Lamb Korma, made of boneless lamb chunks in a creamy yogurt curry made with ground nuts; and the green Palak Paneer, a pureed spinach curry with chunks of paneer. Finally, the Hyderabad Goat Curry was made of bone-in goat cubes in a dark brown curry made of onion, tomato, ginger, and garlic. All of the curries went nicely with the Tandoori Naan and Onion Kulcha, freshly-made flatbreads that were highlights in and of themselves! Overall, the flavors here were on point--my favorite items were the Palak Paneer, the Lamb Korma, and the Tandoori Naan, but everything was delicious and came at a good value.

The owners need to narrow down on what this place is trying to be. Food: we ordered chilli paneer and peanut masala- both were really good. We also got tangerine wheat beer which was good too. The pourhouse setup is easy to use- you get a bracelet and can get whichever beer you want using it. Decent selection.

Because the Flo holds a special place in my heart, I wanted to share a few supportive thoughts. I think the Flo has so much potential, and a few small tweaks could make a big difference. I know it would for me and other regulars who find ourselves stopping in less and less. Bartenders: Read the Room Afternoons often draw an older crowd that loves to chat and socialize. Keeping the music at a comfortable volume during those hours helps people enjoy the vibe without shouting over the jukebox. A little attention to the atmosphere goes a long way. Along those lines, consistent heat in the winter and AC in the summer would make the space more comfortable. It's amazing how much it influences whether people stay for one drink or settle in for the afternoon. Management: The Flo has a very loyal customer base. The folks who come here already know it, love it, and want to support it. Leaning into that core audience and maybe doing something simple like a basic SWOT analysis could spark some great ideas for keeping business strong. Keeping the door propped open might seem inviting, but the foot traffic in this area isn't really the bar's crowd. The magic of the Flo comes from the people who intentionally choose to be here. All of this comes from a place of appreciation. There are many of us who don't just want the Flo to stick around, we want it to thrive.
