Beef KoJa
Christine C.

I have tried several locations and this was my first time trying this one. The original and the beef koja were made well. Rice patty had the right amount of crunch. Veggies were fresh and the portions of the meat were good too. I haven't tried any of the chickens ones but my go-to is the original koja.

Koja Kitchen has been around for a while and I'm surprised I only come here a few times. Each time has always been a good experience though! My bf and I wanted a quick bite to eat before the movies so we ended up here :) I got the beef bowl with an egg added and my bf got the chicken bowl with 2 eggs lol. Pretty delicious! I got so full. The beef was marinated well and tbh the crab salad is so good here. I think the portions are more than enough! Also if you don't like any spice, make sure to remove gochujang otherwise leave it if you enjoy that! Overall, this place can't disappoint esp. if you know what you're ordering! Service was cool, we did kinda come in 45 min before closing but it wasn't too busy! Ambiance was alright as well, we sat outside though!

We wanted to try something with different flavors, and Koja delivered! We ordered the chicken bowl, kamikaze fries, and one chicken taco, everything was delicious. The flavor, spice level, and portion sizes were all on point. One thing to note: there was no cashier or counter staff taking orders. You place your order at a kiosk/stand, get a receipt with your number, and wait for them to call it. Simple enough, just good to know ahead of time. Restaurant itself is very quite big with multiple seating arrangements and very clean as well. Will be back for sure!!

Came here to give this spot another shot and it still wasn't was good as the first time. The lettuce in the bowls was soggy and didn't seem fresh. The meat wasn't as lean either. There were several pieces with big chunks or fat and gristle. Disappointing because the actual meat pieces are really tasty. The fries were pretty good but get mushy very quick. I don't know if we'll be back. Don't think it's worth it for $40.

Yummmm! The fries here are so good! They are so flavorful and delicious- it's also super affordable as well. I had my order packed to go and it was fresh and crispy just how I like it!

Pretty solid spot for casual lunch. Nothing insane but everything is generally pretty good. I like to use the deals on Uber eats too belly down the price a lil bit tho. The braised pork is solid love the coconut miso finally. The bowls all have a carb veggie and protein so it's good for a healthy ish meal. Don't forget the kojas which are like crispy rice burgers/sandwiches

Clockwise: signature spam musubi, kamikaze fries, umami fries, ahi tuna bowl

Everytime I go to Koja Kitchen, it's bc I'm craving some Kamikaze fries, or the pictures of it pull me in. I decided to fulfill the craving and also try the umami fries, ahi tuna bowl, and signature spam musubi. Kamikaze fries: 5/5, will always recommend. Umami fries: 5/5, had pork instead of beef. Ahi tuna bowl: 4/5, sauce had a lil more wasabi taste than preferred. Signature spam musubi: 3/5. Basic, your usual musubi w extra tamago and avocado but lacking special/signature flavor. Also mine didn't have any bacon in it as described. Will always return for a waffle fry craving! The other items are okay. Plenty of parking, walk in and order at the cashier, hold onto your vibrator number until it goes off, self serve, fast food. I did try to squirt some sriracha into a small paper cup but then the whole lid blew off and it was just me and a cup's worth of Sriracha on the counter for me to clean up. Kitchen staff didn't understand what my issue was (language?); cashier went somewhere. Good thing I didn't hold the bottle directly over my food.

Spam Musubi

Tasty snacks - check! The flavors are popping. Serving sizes are exactly what we should be eating. And living the variety offered. Wasn't expecting quite as much as there was so it was hard to choose, but I went with some spam musubi, a braised, pork taco and a braised pork bowl. Light bite dinner and lunch tomorrow. Huge fan of the spam comes with making an avocado, which was a nice surprise. I didn't read the details of the menu so it felt extra fancy. Braised pork taco was a little oily and I wish there was just a smidge more spice to it had some bites with flavor and some kind of lacking and the pork bowl was a nice size and comes with wider brown rice and the kimchi mixture. I put a couple dabs of hot sauce on it and took a few bites and for me that made it. It was good by itself too. I just needed a kick of spice tonight. Definitely looking forward to checking them out again and exploring more of the menu options .

Kamikaze Fries & Spam Musubi with a side of siracha.

I placed an order on Yelp for pickup while I was in the area. I got distracted at the Sleep Number store across the street from them so by the time I went in for my order it was ready to go at their online order pick up location. I ordered two appetizers the Kamikaze Fries & Spam Musubi for myself. The Kamikaze Fries were as delicious as they looked in the pictures. Of course in the beginning there was a lot of crunch but towards the end they got a little soggy. Nothing they can do about that. The flavor was definitely there. The Spam Musubi was exactly what I needed that day. Comfort delicious flavorful food. My husband got the Short Rib Bowl with white rice. He really liked the short rib seasoning with the white rice was perfect. He did not care for the salad that comes with it, little too much for his liking but still satisfying. I tried the Kimchi it comes with it and that was really well seasoned. Overall we liked this location and super glad its close to home.

I got this as delivery and it was pretty alright. I ordered the short rib Koja burger and soy garlic wings, while my friends got their short rib and beef bowls. Their short rib in the koja burger was pretty solid and flavorful, but I did think that their rice buns were really dense. It was also just difficult to eat (as it was so big). My friends thought their bowls were good though! I wish the wings had a bit more sauce, but it was decent. Overall, not a bad spot for some fusion Korean food.

We came here on a weekend night and surprisingly it wasn't busy at all. The interior was clean and we got our food pretty quickly. This is a nice quick Korean fusion restaurant. I got the short rib bowl with kamikaze fries. There's a good meat to rice ratio in my opinion and the meats are seasoned well! Fries were crispy and flavorful as well.

Ally H.

I really wanted this place to be better. Flavors were good, but the rice was stale and for the price did not have a lot of meat (all of the meat is on the side that is served out so it looks like more than it is). Service was non existent because we ordered on an iPad and got a text when it was ready. I don't think we will be back.

Crispy Chicken Bowl
Sabrina W.

Got this delivered to San Jose as part of a huge team lunch on Thursday afternoon. Delivery was on time and hassle-free. I ordered a Crispy Chicken Bowl and Beef Bowl along with fries. Both bowls are really delicious and the crispy chicken still kept its crunch despite the long commute. I was not satisfied with the fries though since they were soggy, cold and not seasoned but it is understandable taking consideration of the long distance. I really enjoyed the sauce that was on the crispy chicken (tasted like some sort of garlic aioli). The beef bowl was sweet and had a bit of a kick to it but overall very good, too. Highly recommend both bowls depending on what protein you are craving that day.

My order came with bean sprouts, broccoli, fish cakes, potatoes, kimchi, eggplant, and tofu. My favorites were the stir fried fish cakes and the lightly sweetened potatoes. *Kimchi Jjigae: the broth carried a pleasantly fermented kimchi flavor. There was also a generous amount of soft tofu incorporated throughout the stew. This leaned more heavily into deeper, aged kimchi notes. *Mul Naengmyun: the chilled broth had a naturally tangy and slightly sweet profile, so the side of mustard felt necessary to sharpen the flavors further. The buckwheat noodles were pleasantly bouncy, though they had clumped together a bit at the bottom. Unfortunately, the toppings were the weakest part, as both the meat and egg were noticeably overcooked. *Corn Cheese: surprisingly mozzarella forward. The cheese was melted well and paired nicely with the bursts of sweetness from the corn. This complemented the hotter savory dishes especially well. Overall, this is a solid takeout option with efficient service and dependable packaging. I would still like to see more depth and refinement in some of the broths, but the foundation is definitely there.

The soup was much needed after we were drinking for a while and decided to take a quick food break to gain our energy back. Everything was packed nicely, nothing got spilled, but they forgot to give us utensils and napkins. My friend said she ordered 3 orders of half and half fried chicken and ended up receiving 4, lucky us lolol! We will definitely comeback to the restaurant for dine-in next time, I bet the food taste even better when they fresh out of the kitchen but our to-go experience was great and food still tasted amazing.

I was definitely in for a surprise with the wide selection of plant-based options available. Just the tofu alone they have 4-6 different dishes to try out. We ordered their tofu soup, a ramen, falling tofu as appetizer and kimchi pancake. More than enough to feed the two of us but I couldn't help ordering with the wide tantalizing varieties available. Their tofu is really fresh and you can tell it's homemade and their specialty as their tofu comes in black tofu, carrot tofu version in addition to the standard white version. I love how they provide the different types of tofu in my tofu ramen soup. The falling tofu was really good too. Slightly breaded, crisp on outside with soft tofu inside and the delicious (sweet and sour) sauce from the mushroom topping round up the dish perfectly. We were also surprise with their banchan that comes with a beef/meat side dish. Never seen that at other Korean restaurants before. Lastly the kimchi pancake has a good nice crispyness to the texture but could use more kimchi & stronger, bolder taste that I get from one of my other fav establishment in Milpitas. Great service and very serious and open to constructive feedback for dish improvement. Rare to find! I will be back to try their other tofu appetizers, salad and steamed egg tofu. Interior was great - nice decor, warm ambiance, contemporary and clean.

You'll order at the front kiosk and wait for your order to be made. Everything is made to order and it took about 10 minutes on a Saturday during lunch hour. We tried their combo Isaac toast, beef kimbap, and kimchi tuna triangle kimbap (think onigiri). If you've never had Isaac toast, it's a popular Korean street food sandwich that is both savory and sweet. The Isaac toast here is a hefty portion and packed with full of flavor. There is a jam spread on the bread that gives it some sweetness and the cabbage slaw is dressed in what tastes like a thousand island dressing. Then you have the egg with carrot patty as well as a slice of cheese and ham. It's the most excellent breakfast sandwich. The bread is fluffy and griddled with butter - what more could you ask for? The beef bulgogi kimbap was also yummy. They don't put too much rice and they certainly don't skimp on the filling. The bulgogi was seasoned well - salty and sweet enough. The other ingredients were fresh and paired well together. Of the kimbaps I've had in my lifetime, this was definitely one of the better ones. The kimchi tuna triangle kimbap was packaged well so that the seaweed does not touch the rice until you're ready to eat, just like how they package it in Japan. Good amount of filling, well seasoned rice, and crisp seaweed. The prices are very fair here given the portion size. I would definitely return when in the mood for some kimbap and Isaac toast! Service was friendly - the ladies greeted us kindly and kept us updated on our order.
