Ordered a Too Good to Go bag last week and got a container of banana pudding and a slice of chocolate cake. The shop is super cute and small, displaying a variety of baked goods. The person who helped me out was nice as well. The banana pudding was heavenly. Super creamy and just like the filling of a banana cream pie, with the addition of the vanilla wafers. A couple of bites and it was gone! Definitely will be back for that. The chocolate cake was super chocolatey and I loved the cake to icing ratio as it was just the right amount. The cake was moist as well, and not dry at all. What a great deal overall. I even spied a tres leches cupcake when I did my pickup but held off since I was already picking up sweets. Maybe located in an interesting area but this shop does NOT miss. This has been my go to place for the past few years to pick up cupcakes, grocery store ones weren't hitting anymore. Customer service is GREAT. Everyone here is very nice. Including the owner(?). I have been here many times and never felt received a hint of attitude or uneasiness. They are welcoming and open to explaining the flavors available. However, I don't understand the tip system for putting the cupcakes in a box but that's not important here. Everyone loves the variety of flavors and quality of cupcakes! Tiramisu, NY cheesecake, carrot, etc. This place has so many different kinds that I can't help but purchase at least a dozen, two if there are flavors that pique my interest. The frosting is delicious, the cupcakes aren't stale or too moist, the perfect amount to hold shape and the frosting on top. They also sell cake pops, banana pudding(?), and slices of cake. Solid spot for anything cake related! I got a custom cake made for my cousin for his birthday. A cookies and cream with strawberry filling and it was delicious! The cake itself was super moist despite it being in the fridge. The cookie bits were oreos and the entire cake itself wasn't too sweet. The strawberry center filling was delectable as well and worked well with the chocolate cookie bits. The cream was mildly sweet and neutral tasting so it offset and balanced out all the supposedly would be sweeter sections of the cake. It was beautifully decorate as well and the shop had a on of variety of cupcake flavors that I must try some other time. I love all the flavors here. It's so hard to pick! The cupcakes are a large size than most bakeries which is a plus. The owner is so sweet! She greeted me once I came in! We ended up getting a banana, mint chocolate, cotton candy and vanilla which we loved. I know so basic flavors but we will be back for more! My review is based on a Too Good To Go pickup not an actual in store purchase. The Too Good To Go process was pretty simple, parked in the parking lot to the side of the business (street parking is available) and walked right in. There was no hellos when entered and the room is so tiny so it was a bit awkward. As a Hayward native and someone who loved watching Cupcake Wars, I will ALWAYS LOVE and support The Cupcake Shoppe. I have loved them since I first tried them way back in their old location, and they have only gotten better! They are my go to for every special occasion (including my wedding-which oops I was so busy I forgot to take pictures), especially if you want to impress with some very pretty cupcakes! I work in a tiny office so I always buy between half a dozen to a dozen for work related special occasions and they're always a hit. Since I live really close to the Cupcake Shoppe, I've even had coworkers ask me if I could stop by to pick up Cupcake Shoppe for them! Hankering for some sweets after indulging nearby. A smallish bakery but with a lot choices for cupcakes. Ended up getting their buy 5 get 1 free deal of the cupcakes. I got the french toast and bacon, triple threat, Nutella, Oreo, toffee caramel, and strawberry shortcake. There must've been at least 30 different flavors for you to choose from. I've come here about 5 times now. The cupcakes are truly amazing and they have so many different flavors, some seasonal. I've had some interesting flavors such as peanut butter and jelly, French toast, almond crunch, and beyond. There are always interesting flavors and often they are true to what flavor they are teyu The biggest issue about this place is the line and slow pace. Even if I am the first in line with only one person ahead of me, they seem to chat it up and take the longest - I've been the person up next and have still waited like 10 minutes outside (due to Covid) because they just chat and answer questions and there is no rush -- even if there is 15-20 people in line. This place can really benefit from streamlining their orders more since 10-minute conversations with customers should be taking place outside - not holding everyone else up. But the flavors here are unique and good. The cupcakes are just on the sweeter and more expensive side so I don't come here too often. read more

Had a function that I wanted gourmet cupcakes for and didn't want to pre order, hope and wait that they were good. The employees were just there, There was no customer service, good or bad...and maybe that's bad. Ordered my nephews birthday cake from here because at the ripe age of 4, he requested rainbow everything. This shoppe happened to have a rainbow layered cake with rainbow sprinkles. My fam and I decided to drive past the shop the afternoon before we were scheduled to pick up the cake (mostly to see where it was) and decided to pop in and grab us some cupcakes. I had a pumpkin brownie, my sister their birthday cake, and my mom their salted caramel. The cupcakes were fine in my opinion. The frosting was a little sweet but balanced okay with the cupcake part. I also decided to take a chance to see if my order was ready for pickup so I wouldn't have to go back- and it was! We kept the cake in the fridge and pulled it out about an hour or so before we wanted to serve it. My nephew loved all the colors. The cake on the other hand wasn't really our vibe. It was super dense and the frosting was overwhelming sweet. We might be back to get some cupcakes or try the other desserts as there were non cake options. Cupcake shoppe won on Food Network's, "Big Time Bake." I got to know about this place on Instagram and their Wednesday specials had me wanting to explore this confectionary establishment. I'm very loyal to Small Cakes in the East Bay. This place is distinct and here are my thoughts... The cupcakes are pricy ($4) but JUMBO size. The icing is thick and the cupcake is a dense cake texture. The variety of flavors offered are creative and well thought out in construction. Meaning, there appears to be many details put into one cupcake. The s'mores cupcake had actual marshmallow paste oozing from within. I enjoyed the Boston cream pie that had a whip topping dipped in a chocolate hardened mixture. The custard filling was thick and hearty. The customer service was attentive with the helper making sure to explain all the flavor options. If you want to save money, consider trying their day old cupcakes ($2) because the horchata cupcake had a pipette with actual horchata beverage. My kids were visually stimulated by the creations. I personally found the flavors to be forgettable. The cake consistency all are relatively the same texture. The game changer is if it has filling or not/ the icing enhances that cupcake base. I think it boils down to going after the flavor you want (check daily menu options on website) and sticking to that one cupcake that becomes the holy grail. I did notice a customer came in and asked for the last animal cookie cupcake that we had appeared to get! I just tried the cupcake that looked minimal in supply to decide which was popular. This process of elimination may help you also! I liked how when the server was busy she let her customers know she would be right with them or let them know what she was working on that creating a delay. Excellent place to pick up some celebratory cupcakes! I have bought them for kids' birthdays in the past, and yesterday we picked a bunch to bring to the nursing home for my dad's 92nd birthday. It was hard to choose, but we got a dozen variety of the regular sized, and a dozen of the minis, for those who only want a nibble. All were delicious, and we shared with the friends and staff. I'm not even a "sweets person," but The Cupcake Shoppe has convinced me that a little bit of sugar every now and then will satisfy that craving! I can't believe I didn't find out about this place until this year. I first tried their cupcakes through someone else, and I liked them so much! The thing I love about them is that they have something for everyone. They can get a little on the sweet side, but I usually don't eat a full cupcake. I like to get half a dozen of jumbos and sample from each of them. The shop is super small and with COVID, only one customer is allowed at at time. I usually go at really odd times, so it's never packed. Their customer service is also sincere and superb! My current obsession is the pumpkin cheesecake! I hope they serve it year round. I came around 2:45pm on a Tuesday. Strawberry Shortcake was already sold out. So if you are laying around browsing Yelp, get up, now, go, it's worth it! A coworker of mine kept telling about this place. I had the opportunity to stop by on my day off. It's a small shop on Main Street. There is limited street parking, but don't fret, there is a parking lot in the back of the building. Upon arrival there were two people in line outside. There was no signage stating capacity, but it looked as if only one customer went in at a time. I bought a frozen banana cupcake along with the maple bacon. Both were scrumptious, but that maple baaaacon!!!! It was off the charts. (P.s they also have alcohol cupcakes ready to buy) I had intentions of only getting cupcakes, but i decided to indulge. My son wanted to try a cake pop. It was chocolate on the outside, i believed marble inside. He inhaled it. So my assumption is he liked it. We also couldn't walk out of there without trying the chocolate covered bacon. I could absolutely eat those slices everyday! The sweet of the chocolate along with salt and chew of the bacon meshed perfectly together. They have a batch of brownies that sit at eye level right next to the register. I felt like they were begging me to take them home. They were big and thick, and looked moist and chewy. I was tempted but decided I had enough sweets for now. Love the variety of cupcakes here! Located in downtown Hayward, there's a lot behind the place with plenty of parking on a weekday lunch. It's a tiny shop with no space to dine in, best to order takeout. I ordered ahead online a few days earlier and thought there was no need to do that. When I arrived they put together my order based on the inventory they had in hand. I didn't get one of the flavor that was on the website for that day, so I guess its just based on what they make that day. There's a variety of flavors from tres leches to chocolate to mint chocolate to oreo... the list goes on. The cupcakes looked very appetizing as well! They also serve other desserts such as cookies and krispies. Less than $5 per cupcake, but there's a buy 5 get 1 free deal. I was able to get half a dozen cupcakes for about $25. Not bad! I bought them during lunch and left them in fridge during day (wasn't sure if I could leave them out but wanted to be safe). They were still good towards 830pm after dinner. Most people enjoyed the dulce de leche flavor, but I personally enjoyed the snickerdoodle. I didn't know the triple threat was just chocolate/vanilla/red velvet, for some reason I thought it was 3 types of chocolate. That would be the least favorite for everybody. I have always loved this place until it came time to order a special cake. I was emailing someone regarding decoration, flavoring, filling, and date of pick up. I ordered sugar cookies and asked my boyfriend to pick it up. When I saw it, I asked why is the box yanked? My boyfriend said it was handed to him like that. I was supposed to use these cookies for elderly who are high risk, health wise. I was not allowed to give it to them due to the box being yanked and has a hole that exposed the cookies. I paid this with my own money and company would not reimburse me because it wasn't our fault. It's the shop's fault. How have I not reviewed this place yet?!!! I've been coming to The Cupcake Shoppe for a few years now and what sparked my very first visit about 4 years ago was their Hennessy Red cupcake. Man this was one of the strongest alcohol infused desserts I've ever had in my life, it was like taking a shot of Henny straight up lol but it was good. Ever since then I've been somewhat hooked. The cupcakes here are really good, I've not had a bad cupcake. They are baked fresh, there are many different flavors to choose from and they are always coming up with some unique and out the box flavors. I've had quite a few different ones but my favorites are the Red Velvet, Chocolate Chip Cheesecake and Cherry Cheesecake. Those three are just amazing! The cupcakes are so moist, decadent and the frostings/fillings are always on point. The customer service is always great and whenever I have questions about several cupcakes and what they are filled with they have no problem helping me out lol and giving their recommendations. I don't get here too often since during the week it's hard to get here by the time they close and they aren't open on Sunday's but they now have a cupcake truck so I can get my fix when they come to Fremont Street Eats or other events. So look out for their truck if you can't come to the bakery. I also like that the prices are contingent with the size of the cupcakes, some places charge $4 for a petite cupcake but they do not do that here! And if you follow their IG they will sometimes post promotions and if you're lucky they just might post that they're open on a Sunday. I definitely would recommend this place, honestly great cupcake shops are very hard to come by especially ones that make a moist cupcake with a great frosting.
