Tried to enter at 2:21p and the doors were still locked.

Placed an inquiry for large order in November, didn't receive a response even til now (today is 1/3/2025). Or at least a notification that my inquiry was reviewed despite being past due. Went in today to make a small purchase and they were closed (for a break? Which they're entitled to) with a sign saying "be back -2:10). The door was still closed at 2:21pm. How am I able to give great credit when the service isn't great. At least they answer the phones, but the answers are not detailed and continue to refer to website versus what they personally recommend.

Maybe located in an interesting area but this shop does NOT miss. This has been my go to place for the past few years to pick up cupcakes, grocery store ones weren't hitting anymore. Customer service is GREAT. Everyone here is very nice. Including the owner(?). I have been here many times and never felt received a hint of attitude or uneasiness. They are welcoming and open to explaining the flavors available. However, I don't understand the tip system for putting the cupcakes in a box but that's not important here. Everyone loves the variety of flavors and quality of cupcakes! Tiramisu, NY cheesecake, carrot, etc. This place has so many different kinds that I can't help but purchase at least a dozen, two if there are flavors that pique my interest. The frosting is delicious, the cupcakes aren't stale or too moist, the perfect amount to hold shape and the frosting on top. They also sell cake pops, banana pudding(?), and slices of cake. They may do custom orders but I feel I have a great experience perusing the different options on display that I don't need to place an order ahead of time. Overall, love this place. Will be my main cupcake shop indefinitely.

I love all the flavors here. It's so hard to pick! The cupcakes are a large size than most bakeries which is a plus. The owner is so sweet! She greeted me once I came in! We ended up getting a banana, mint chocolate, cotton candy and vanilla which we loved. I know so basic flavors but we will be back for more! Omg we also got the banana pudding, it's literally sooooo good. I felt so guilty how good it was lol. Def it was a treat!

Note to self:: come back for a henny red cupcake asap! I have been here several times and always left satisfied! They had so many cute and new flavors today! My review is based on a Too Good To Go pickup not an actual in store purchase. The Too Good To Go process was pretty simple, parked in the parking lot to the side of the business (street parking is available) and walked right in. There was no hellos when entered and the room is so tiny so it was a bit awkward. Once the customer before me was done I just let the cashier know that I was there for a Too Good To Go order and she said one second. She grabbed a few things and placed it in a bag before wishing me a good day. The Too Good To Go order was $5.99 and I got a chocolate cupcake with Oreo cream frosting, a sprinkle cake pop, a chocolate cake pop and a rainbow rice Krispy treat (which for that price was a a steal of a deal)

Okay you guys I came down from Oregon to attend a funeral and I had to go get cupcakes and of course I came to the Cupcake Shoppe. I got a day old key lime pie and it was so moist and flavorful as if it was just baked. I gotta tell you they make the best yummiest cupcakes around.

Look at that adorableee concha! (This was during the Latin music festival in DT Hayward)

As a Hayward native and someone who loved watching Cupcake Wars, I will ALWAYS LOVE and support The Cupcake Shoppe. I have loved them since I first tried them way back in their old location, and they have only gotten better! They are my go to for every special occasion (including my wedding-which oops I was so busy I forgot to take pictures), especially if you want to impress with some very pretty cupcakes! I work in a tiny office so I always buy between half a dozen to a dozen for work related special occasions and they're always a hit. Since I live really close to the Cupcake Shoppe, I've even had coworkers ask me if I could stop by to pick up Cupcake Shoppe for them! Of all the cupcake shops I have tried, they are probably still my top. No one beats their suuuper moist, dazzling decorated, and creativr flavored cupcakes.

Hankering for some sweets after indulging nearby. A smallish bakery but with a lot choices for cupcakes. Ended up getting their buy 5 get 1 free deal of the cupcakes. I got the french toast and bacon, triple threat, Nutella, Oreo, toffee caramel, and strawberry shortcake. There must've been at least 30 different flavors for you to choose from. Love that the actual cake is not super sweet and the frosting makes up for the sweetness. Will be back to try other flavors as well. Oh their banana pudding is to die for!!!

Called in yesterday to order 12 cupcakes for a gender reveal this weekend, I was told had to be special ordered in advance and it would be $60. I paid expecting it to be decent considering the amount I paid...I got basic small cupcakes with blue and pink swirl on top. So very disappointed.

I visited the cupcake truck and the cupcakes were amazing. Price (3/5): One cupcake is $5, which is a bit much. Food: (4.5/5) I had the tres leches cupcake and it was amazing. It has been better than cakes I've had. I've tried to make them at home and it's hard to get the texture right, but they nailed it. Just make sure you are sitting when you eat it because it will fall apart. In conclusion, I would consider getting another cupcake despite the price.

I'm just going to start by saying saying these cupcakes are hella GOOD! I've been "meaning" to stop by for years and never made it. I had them bookmarked and all. Had a function that I wanted gourmet cupcakes for and didn't want to pre order, hope and wait that they were good. I came in and immediately noticed how many different cupcakes they had and how well made they appeared. The employees were just there, There was no customer service, good or bad...and maybe that's bad. I would recommend a simple hello, thanks for coming in, or did you see/find everything when you pay...maybe a greeting of anything; but the cupcakes were amazing, PERFECT & the reason I'm giving 4 stars. This would be a 5 star business and it could have been an off day for the employees, but they need a little pep in their step. I've already recommended them for their cupcakes so I'd definitely be back.

Being a native of Hayward, I always like to find and support local businesses. The Cupcake Shoppe is one of the those Hayward treasures. I love going there every chance I get. The cupcakes are amazing and the staff is always willing to help you in your choices. The Margarita Cupcakes with a shot are amazing. It is a small place but the inside is amazing with the murals and it always smells good inside.

I usually go to the Pleasanton spot but happened to be nearby and wanted to get a cake for Mother's day. I understand that because it is a holiday that they were going to be busy, but it was incredibly disorganized inside with people cutting in and out of line at the counter and the staff were too busy to redirect customers or take orders. Incredibly frustrating as there were several instances of people just cutting their way in line and just placing their orders/getting served ahead of everyone else by just walking straight up to the register. When it came to my turn the staff asked for my order then turned around and instead went and took care of someone who had cut in front straight to the register to buy bread when I had already been waiting in line for awhile. They did not even bother asking if they had been waiting there before or had cut the line, the staff just skipped me just because that person had gone straight up to the register. Incredibly frustrating situation and I just did not want to get into it with the line cutter or the staff. Was still able to pick up the cake but I would skip this place since they can't even set up a system for a line/queue. Go to the Pleasanton spot instead and skip this spot.
