I really love shopping here. I have always loved thrifting the thrill of the hunt and not knowing what you will find. Eco Thrift has NO fitting rooms so plan accordingly. I wear layered clothing or leggings and a slim fitting top. The store is well organized and sections are clearly marked. As with many thrift stores there are different colors marked down every day please listen for the announcements or check the board. I would recommend grabbing a cart because last time I went I found quite a bit and was carrying around my treasures. As with thrifting you never know what you are going to discover. The last time I went I came out with two fantastic finds one a H&M black cotton dress suitable for work wear and take you straight into evening or happy hour. The ruffle tiered dress I admit I paid more than I wanted to but Google came to the rescue and I saw several original retail prices and I found it over $ 100.00 brand new so I decided to splurge and purchase the dress. Service I can't comment on because I usually don't ask for help and there is self checkout available. But I don't know if my last encounter with customer service I should be flattered or insulted. I was checking out my items and the lady that was working at the front thought I was stealing my OWN jacket that I came in wearing! I said this jacket is mine check the cameras I was wearing it when I came in here! All in all a great thrift store but give yourself time because there is so much to look at. I find if I give myself time I find more treasures rather than just rushing through. Also, keep your finds close at hand with the case of the orange ruffle dress after people saw me put it on they were asking if I was going to purchase it while I was trying it on! I've had a frustrating experience with the opening hours. Every time I call, I'm told the store opens at 8:00 AM, but when I arrive at 8:00, I'm told the store actually opened at 7:00 AM. By then, many of the best items have already been picked over, which makes it really difficult to shop. I enjoy shopping here and understand that opening times can sometimes change, but I would really appreciate it if the information given over the phone matched the actual opening time. Accurate hours would help customers plan their visits and have a fair chance at finding good items. read more

One of my favorite stores! This location is huge and I enjoy coming here. They have plenty of parking in their own lot and street parking also. Come early as the parking lot can get full. Always grab a cart because there is so much good stuff. Or not-up to you. I like to peruse almost every aisle, looking at each item of clothing- I got a whole system down. Of course I'm paying attention to the color tag sale of the day, but if it's cute, it's going in the cart. The women's section is great but the men's section is good too. Their racks are packed full. They don't have fitting rooms but there are mirrors if you'd want to pull something over your clothes to try on. What's great is that they also have bathrooms. Very convenient especially when you're shopping a long time. The store also has kids clothes, shoes, small furniture, housewares, toys etc. Did I mention they have a lot of stuff? The store is clean, organized and the employees are friendly. Some items can be pricey, sure, but it's all about rummaging through to find those hidden gems and getting a good deal. I think it's fun. I love Eco Thrift; they have a great selection of products at various prices. Lately, some prices seem higher than average, but you can navigate that depending on how you shop. There isn't a fitting room, so I generally try things on over my clothes. While most of my experiences have been good, the staff hasn't been as nice during my last few visits. I wasn't aware of the no-tag rule unless a specific lady was there to change the price. An employee quickly took an item from me, telling me oh well come back tomorrow. ABSOLUTELY APPAULED by how my sons were treated in EcoThrift. They went in to look for jeans & when ready to pay a woman stood but inches away from them hovering over their shoulders as they scanned their items. How uncomfortable. When scanning jeans there was a sensor on a pair & they asked for help from an employee to remove it but she then became, what I can only describe as suspicious of them. Employees mentioned something about the "damaged tags." A Caucasian man with a beard & glasses came up to one of my sons & SNAPPED A PICTURE OF MY SON'S FACE & said, "You're not in trouble this time but if you come back we're going to watch you & if you do it again we're going to ban you." WTF??? Mind you my boys were literally paying $15 for each pair of used jeans!!!! I was ready to drive back & speak to management but the store was closed. I've been here a few times and have found some really good deals. There are specials by the tag color and it's posted on the back wall. I usually have an idea of a few things in particular I'm looking for. The selection is pretty good and they have some items grouped up in bags in end caps like yarn and sewing supplies which is nice. Prices are no different than retail. Staff are not helpful or friendly and English is a problem with them. If you need help with something you're out of luck, they will look at you like a deer in my headlights. Especially the lady that works at the jewelry is rude. Firstly, let me just warn everyone to stay the hell away unless you want to waste time that you'll never get back. I had about 30 minutes to spare in the area so figured I looked around and tried to be an ecofriendly gal. The preowned items averaged from $2.99-20.99+ with extra discounts off on specific colored tags, cool. Pretty normal with thrift stores. Upon searching, I saw a pair of sweatpants that I liked, within my thrift store spending budget, cool! Like many other thrift stores.. you tend to often find a diamond in the rough. Because I was on a time restraint, I happily proceeded upon the self checkout process with my single item, scanned and paid. I then proceed to let them check my receipt to ensure that the item was paid for prior to SENSOR removal and the Caucasian man with tattoos said "oh there's no way this is priced correctly, go pick something else out, perhaps some hair ties and candies that's equivalent to the amount you just paid because we don't do refunds." I very calmly proceeded to express my concern about how that was strange and asked how much the item actually costed since there was a "wrong pricing" on them. He replied in the most snarky attitude "if I find out are you going to buy it? Because I'm not going to stand here and argue about the price with you" in which I just looked at him very confused, because well who the hell was even arguing with him and whether I want the item or not after a new price is found DEPENDS. We're talking thrift store.... I always budget myself under $20/clothing piece at a thrift store because let me be the one to remind you that YOU'RE SHOPPING THROUGH peoples old DONATED/FREE items.. Ok, moving on, I asked him AND a FILIPINA LADY employee if they were able to assist me in the direction to items that are around the same price range by the front (AS I LITERALLY HAD NO TIME TO LOOK THROUGH THE STORE AGAIN) and the lady 1, ignored me, and 2, the man said "I don't know, just pick something. The longer you stand here, the more time you waste." Woooooow. Just wow. What an absolute mess. Save yourselves time. The staff is EXTREMELY rude. I've been hearing a lot about Eco Thrift, so today I decided to venture there. This is a huge and very busy thrift store. The parking spaces are on the smaller side - so bigger vehicles take note. Walking in the store is sort of overwhelming, as there is just so much stuff. Due to how busy it was , stuff was a little messy - well that is my assumption. Not necessarily their fault, as you would legit have to having someone just fixing racks to stay on top of it. There is a huge selection of everything, but all of their nicer brands are priced ridiculous. Seven 7 (not 7FAM) were $32.99. What the what? Calvin denim jacket, $42.99. Umm, no. New Levi's $32.99. Hard pass. I did like that they have 3 color tags on sale at a time. So, you have a chance of finding a discounted item. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again, as it was just - meh to me. read more

I think EcoThrift is fun. You never know what you're going to find. I like that they have 3 tiers of discounts going on at a time (based on the color of the day, one color is 75% off, another is 50% off and the third is 25% off). Their selection is grand. So much to look through. Shoes, dresses, jeans, purses, misc. home, sports items. They do not have a fitting room and all sales are final. If you plan on looking for clothes, I suggest in wearing fitted clothes (leggings, biker shorts, tank top) to try on the clothes over that. They have several mirrors where you'll find people posted up doing the same. I've found some really great deals here. Make sure to check your clothing for any holes, stains, rips at the seams! Staff have been helpful the times I've had interactions with them which is mainly at checkout-- they direct you at the self check out machines which are straight to the point and you see the immediate markdowns if items are discounted. If you need help, staff can guide you with that process. Only issues I've had is parking! It can get backed some days and I've parked on the street. Also, they are closed on Sundays! read more

I frequently purchase puzzles at Eccothrift, fully aware that buying used puzzles can be a gamble when it comes to completeness. I always inspect the boxes carefully, as some considerate donors take the time to note if any pieces are missing. There is nothing more frustrating than spending hours over several days assembling a 1,000-piece puzzle only to discover that one or more pieces are missing. Before beginning a puzzle I recently purchased from Eccothrift, I decided to remove the store's price label, as I intended to pass the puzzle on to a friend once completed. To my surprise, underneath the label I found a piece of masking tape on which the original donor had written that one piece was missing. It became evident that a store employee had deliberately placed the price label directly over this note to conceal that information. This act was not a simple oversight--it was a deliberate attempt to mislead customers, and it reflects a serious lapse in honesty and integrity on the part of the store. read more

Specifically searched for black jeans, found two pairs that fit perfectly and paid about $10 for both pairs, what a steal!! Ecothrift always has a vast selection of everything and is great for looking around at everything... I set a time limit for myself to control overconsumption. Your typical organized-and-more-expensive type of thrift store. They definitely mark up items that they think are better brands. That said, selection is huge and you will probably find something good if you really really look. There is also a bunch of (new unopened) candy and snacks .. it's giving Marshalls but used items. If you want to spend some time in a filthy building getting charged new-clothes prices and treated like trash then by all means, check this place out. I used to love this place and came often a few years ago when I lived in Fremont; they had a huge selection, great deals, a nice dressing room area, and friendly staff. I was in Fremont recently and decided to stop by; this place has gone so far downhill. The clothes selection has dropped off significantly, both in terms of quantity and quality. The prices have gone up ridiculously high (see photo), to the point that I could easily pay $25-30 they ask for anything of decent quality for brand new items at Old Navy or Target. There was a Jean jacket that I put back because they wanted $60!!! Then the staff was rude & wouldn't let me take the cart out to my car even though I had a baby & there was no way I could carry both my baby and the clothes I bought at the same time. Then to top it all off, something set off the security monitor at the exit so I had to stand there while a rude staff member took all of my items out and put them on the floor to check them. It also really irritates me that they got rid of all their dressing rooms, yet they still don't do returns. Why would I buy overpriced jeans when I don't even know how they'll fit? Do yourself a favor and use an app like Mercari, or just go to an affordable department store and buy new. & please don't donate; these people are scamming low income people; your clothes donation would be put to better use elsewhere. A lot of their prices are more expensive than brand new at Ross or t.j Maxx!! They are not nice there at all. I could not believe how horrible it was I have been donating to this place for so many years. But I've only gone in a few times. Do not go there without money. It was so much to buy. It took me a long time to view almost everything. If I wasn't on a budget, I could have easily spent a hundred dollars. The cashiers are nice. I've been coming to this thrift store since high school because they used to have a great selection and reasonable prices. It was always one of my go-to spots for unique finds and budget-friendly clothes. Lately though, it's just not the same. The quality of the clothes has gone way down and the pricing has gone up ridiculously. I saw pants priced at $30, which makes zero sense when I could just go to Target and buy something brand new for that price or less. Really disappointed in how far this place has fallen. Horrible experience. I spent $141 and was accused of shoplifting a $3 umbrella. I was surprised and offered to pay immediately but the clerk Mathew, would not let me. I apologized and tried to explain this was completely unintentional but he insisted I stole it. (If he saw me steal it why didn't he offer to help me? From now on I'll avoid self check out.) I offered $20 for it, no. I offered to make a generous donation, no. I offered to volunteer to clean the bathrooms, asked if I could do anything to make it right, he said NO. He said he doesn't want me there ever again, he said he took my picture and I will be escorted out if I ever come back, I'm banned for life. He also said I need help and he hopes I can get the help that I need. I asked for the store manger, to get a second opinion and he said he's the manager. I'm so frustrated. read more

I came here today and found so many beautiful dresses that I got myself. I don't know why I even buy clothes anymore considering I never have a single date but hey maybe someday. I just bought several items of clothing, only liked one out of the 6 I bought. So now I'm stuck with items I do not want. They should at least give you a store credit. Ahhhhhh thrifting. An eco-friendly way to embrace consumerism. It's an exhilarating experience to "hunt" for treasure-must be hunter gatherer instincts! Eco thrift is a big store (around the size of a Safeway) and it has colossal amounts of stock to show for it. Clothing takes up the majority of space, but there's bric-a-brac, art, and furniture in the back. I was in the market for some hiking boots and snagged a pair in my size in almost new condition! If you're just browsing, there's a great selection due to the sheer amount of stock. I was able to find some well known brands like Calvin Klein and Vince Camuto . Your mileage may vary on the value of items though. I'm used to seeing lower prices in general but it wasn't consistent within categories. Case in point: Genuine leather sandals with minor wear for $10, but generic sneakers in a beat up state for $25. Giant oil painting for $7, but a tarnished metal bowl was $30. There's certainly amazing deals to be found, but you may have to sift through some higher prices. The bad: I did deduct a star because the lanes/corridors are very crowded. The carts and baskets are pretty large (and baskets roll on the floor!), and there was barely enough space to squeeze by. I usually had to push myself partially into a rack to let others pass. Around 10am there was a decent crowd- the parking lot was full as well as the adjacent street area so I had to walk a bit. It's self checkout, so you're rushed through by attendants if lines are long. I did have a few questions about tag colors but didn't get the chance to ask before attendants directed me to the exit. It's definitely worth a look if you're in the area! read more

One of the best places to thrift in the Bay Area. Best to come early morning or not on a weekend - really have to hunt and be willing to look through racks to find something. Only annoyance is that they use staplers to attach tags - so you either have to be super careful when removing it and also have to assess whether or not it will damage the item once removed (for more delicate fabrics). read more

Their pricing is getting out of control. I saw a film camera that sells for under $100 on EBay, priced for $399 today. Definitely no bargains to be had in the boutique section! The clothes can sometimes still be reasonably priced but they're sprayed with some kind of super smelly chemical (anti bug maybe?) that can't easily be removed with a regular washing. I have to soak the clothes I buy here in baking soda water and then wash a couple times, and they still smell a bit like whatever chemical they're using. They are still, however, the best option remaining in the east bay for sheer VOLUME of thrift items available. read more
