I first shopped at Savers when I lived in Phoenix, AZ, and I've been a huge fan for over 10 years. Everything is donation-based (obviously), so what's available will always vary. PROS: Super clean and very well organized!! Great home goods and shoe options. The few items that caught my eye were very well priced, and overall it felt easy and enjoyable to shop here. CON: The selection was a bit lacking, and I didn't find anything particularly exciting or unique. Lots of very basic pieces, though they did have a large variety of jeans. It's nice to have a Savers in town. While I personally have never found anything I liked there, Devon found some nice leather boots, so I know good things trickle in. The prices are aligned with goodwill, and the workers there are helpful, like their spirit hasn't been broken, which is nice. Their donation system is real hassle free--you literally just pull up and see the big green bins, and toss your stuff in there. Find an employee near the green bins and they'll give you a 20% off coupon. That's it! No selling or anything, just dump your stuff and get a coupon. read more

If your into thrifting a fun place to go but you have to look out for prices and value - some things I found to be over priced some things probably a good price. Books, home goods, clothing - this place does have it all. I paused at some very old collectibles - but they were very very high in price. Store was clean and the workers there great. I especially liked the lady who had a strong, commanding yet friendly voice and personality. She let people know the store was closing soon. I spend lots of time at the EV charger just a couple doors down and a great way to pass the time. Usually 45 minutes at the fast charger gets me from 20 to 80 percent which is the sweet spot you want to keep your EV at. read more

This store literally looked clean, wasn't too busy. Came looking at electronics. CD player (8.99) cheap but had no remote. Got a radio with a player for audio CD (6.99). Had plenty of help from associate. Tuesdays are 30% off for shoppers over 55. 20% discount for donations of clothing, etc. some items not applicable for discounts. Savers is a for profit thrift store. Some items seem high. Hearsay pricing is done by a computer program. Self Check out credit card only. No cash. Got assistance. Courteous, Efficient. I started visiting this store a few months back when they were still relatively new. The place was clean, organized and well priced. I've been visiting more recently to find home decor, however the prices have been insanely overpriced recently. $9.99 for a 5 galon harbor freight bucket(typically $3.99 in stores) $5.99 for a bag of hotel soap(typically free) $4.99 for a milk pin(Less than $2 online) Oh, I also found a pair of hiking pants marked at $49.99! I'm new to thrifting. I don't know where the price point on used items should be. My inexperienced opinion is that the clothes and book prices are great. The store is huge. It was formally CVS located in the Lucky supermarket plaza. Rows and rows of clothes! There is a reasonable selection of plus sized clothing as well. I had no expectations. I was just browsing and ended up picking up a few items. I was hoping for a better selection of accessories. That inventory was lacking. read more

I called this Savers location to ask if they would accept our convection oven that is in great working condition that we are only needing to donate because I bought my parents a new smart oven pro with air fryer. Amanda was pleasant to speak with and asked for further assistance while we were speaking over the phone, to confirm if they can accept our oven donation. I was relieved to hear they would accept it. My family and I decided to take advantage of this trip and donate more kitchen goods. Upon arrival, thanks to Amanda's clear instructions, we drove up to the donation center where their bright green cones are set up. Staff greeted us and helped me carry our donations from the car to the donation drop off area. The staff even provided us with a discount coupon for future shopping in Savers. We appreciate the kind staff here. We hope our kitchen goods and appliance will be of good use for the next person, or maybe even families, who might need these! This is a pretty organized store. Pretty much everything is laid out and set up pretty good. For instance, we were looking at the hats and you can tell that they were nicely organized, and easy to look at and nothing was stuffed and one location to where you could not access it. Basically you can walk around and get everywhere. read more

The employees are great and the store is well organized and clean. Large selection of everything. I seem to find EXACTLY what I'm looking for every time. The book section is pretty good. Women's jackets are a hit or miss. Houseware section is great, you could find practically new appliances or glassware. Pricing is questionable. Items are at least $2-$3 more than they should be. (They are definitely taking after known thrift stores practices lol) They have coupons emailed to you that come in handy, wish they sent them more often. read more

With this being the second Savers I've been to in two days, I can say that I had two bipolar experiences. First off, the selection here is very limiting. I didn't come here to buy clothes so I cannot speak on behalf of anyone looking for apparel but when I came to everything else, it was very hard for me to find items that I needed and also that appealed to me just in general. Like the other location I had been to in Dublin, the prices were more than fair. It's very easy for me to see why there is such a dedicated and persistent base of customers that shop here in comparison to other high-end businesses and department stores. So I started off with my negative which was that I wasn't fond of the items that they had for sale. However, what I will absolutely attach to is the incredible, helpful, kind, and considerate staff that they have here at this location. With this being only the second time I had been into a Savers, I had no idea that there was no return policy on any items other than clothing. I purchased a printer at the Dublin location yesterday, thoroughly inspected it, and was excited to use it only for me to discover that it was impossible due to the software of my computers being incompatible. I explained my situation to a staff member upon entering the store and even though it was against policy, after hearing me out, the staff member agreed to let me exchange it for items equal two or more value of the printer. She even brought me to the manager to explain the situation where she was more than happy to accommodate me. Even more, when I found the items I was going to exchange for the printer, a gentleman on staff who wasn't aware of the situation, trusted my word, and assisted me with the checkout. These were such bipolar experiences to have the past two days. Dublin was filled with lots of awesome stuff, but a majority of unfriendly workers and some incredibly rude patrons. Alameda did not have the best variety of items but has incredibly professional and genuine staff members that truly make coming here worth the experience. Is also significantly quicker to donate items here in comparison to Dublin's by a longshot. Here there was no line, anybody could literally pull up, drop their items and take off. It seems like in Dublin anytime you donate there you're gonna be waiting for it seems like an hour, but in reality is no more than 15 to 20 minutes. It's also worth noting that, I don't blame the store for a lack of variety given everything for sale here is entirely based upon the items donated. So please don't take my critique of the selection personally. It's just something I know that's worth informing others about. I hope Dublin can take away something from this location. It shocks me that they have a higher rating on Yelp, but of course, each their own. This location gets 5/5 and I hope to come back sooner than later. read more

Savers in Alameda is one of the most surprisingly spacious and well-organized thrift stores I've been to. For a thrift store, the layout is above average in terms of cleanliness and organization--everything is neatly arranged by category, and it's easy to browse through items without feeling overwhelmed. They have plenty of staff on-site, which probably helps keep everything in order. The store includes fitting rooms (a huge plus) and bathrooms, making it comfortable for longer shopping trips. Prices are generally pretty reasonable, though a few items felt a bit on the high side. That said, they run rotating color tag sales, and if you catch a 50% off tag, you can absolutely score some great deals. Another bonus: they have self-checkout registers, which makes the checkout process quick and convenient. Never seen this in a thrift store before. Came here after seeing they opened this location on Instagram. I go to alameda on Sundays so perfect timing. I got there around 10:45 and there were some people already. Browse through the bag section hoping to find vintage coach but no luck. Brows through the coat section hoping to find vintage pieces also no luck. Looked at things in the glass case but also didn't find anything to purchase. When through the home section to find glassware and this area is almost empty. Although I didn't find anything to purchase, would come back here again to check Service was ok, there were greeters and that were nice. I went there for the ribbon cutting before 10am on opening day. Terrible terrible terrible. I understand it's their first day but jeez, used pants are going for $13 a pop. Saw a SHIEN dress for $20. Another woman found jeans that she says goes for $50 brand new at her store for $99.99. All their t-shirts regardless of quality are $8.49. Not even the Redwood City Savers is this pricey. I'm used to getting my shirts for $3.49 and my jeans for $5.49 in a more affluent area of the bay, which is so ironic. I checked the bags they had in their luxury area, and all were fake. A red Prada bag was there for $80 when the tag said "made in China" and had zero Prada embellishments on it. The coach bags had their logos falling off and they were charging $140 for one small Coach bag I know they sell at the outlets brand new for $99. When I brought up the fake merchandise to one of the employees, all he did was shrug. I also brought this up with the manager and he didn't care. Among other things, NONE of the coupons worked and will not work for the first WEEK. They don't put this notice ANYWHERE except when you're finally checking out, which is very "gotcha". They also sent an email encouraging people to show up on the first day to get a free reusable bag. That was also a lie and they had no good explanation for the false advertising. If we had known, we would've brought our own bag. Thrift stores exist to help their customers save money. Yet a lot of what I saw here today is the opposite. Most things were pricier than the brand new/full price versions, and the fact that they know that their "luxury items" are fake but won't remove them... This Savers screams "sketchy". The Alameda Savers is already starting off on the wrong foot on day one. I think I'll continue spending my gas money going visiting the Savers in Redwood City and Dublin instead of revisiting this new store close to home. If you're looking for good deals on clothes, drive a little further to South Shore and go to Ross or TJ Maxx. At least their items are brand new and cheaper in price. read more

It's a love/hate relationship with Savers! I'm a thrifter & a part of being a thrifter is taking the time to sort through items and find the hidden gems marked at a great price. I love finding my deals (& have found some here). However, I am always left genuinely curious as to how they price the donated items they receive because there's been a good amount of times where I've thought to myself, "ohh, they're trippppin." ie. old navy regular flip flops for $19.99 and those Virgen de Guadalupe candles you can find at the dollar store for $3.99 while being all used & burnt. It's funny to me & know it's a deterrent for some people to want to come back. Anyway: Love: -easy donation drop off & 20% coupon provided with donation (glad they continued with that & it wasn't just a grand opening promotion) -50% off items pertaining to a certain color -I've noticed at times the items are color coordinated throughout the store so you can spot the discounted items in a group -I think it's buy 3 get 1 free book -organization of inventory and a lot of variety -you can return for an exchange clothing items within 14 days and possibly shoes (I think I overheard a staff member tell someone that recently) with tags on item + receipt. I appreciate this as there's no fitting room. -staff have been helpful the times I interacted with them -parking is easy -they have a point system with your phone number (you get an additional discount after you redeem a certain amount of points & easily applied at checkout) -check out is mainly self check out. They have a staff directing you to a certain machine depending on what you're paying with. They can help you as needed and there is one register where they have checked out folks before. Don't love: -bizarre over pricing of items, especially when you can get the item new at a cheaper price at original store and the items were received as donation. This alone affects my view point of a thrift store's integrity. Do I still shop here when I get the thrift urge though? Yes, and purchase only when I feel I've found a thrift price deal. Just look for the color coded deals and use your coupon. read more

Clean and well organized. Selection is good if you go on the right day (Tuesdays from what we were told). Prices are a little more than expected for thrifting (minus one star). I go because my son loves coming here for hoodies. Service is always great - even when we stroll in 10 minutes before closing, we get a warm and happy greeting. This was my first time to this Savers, as it's a bit out of my normal thrifting area. I can honestly say I am happy I ventured out, as it was super easy to get to and there was ample parking. It is a good size store and selection was great. The pricing is a bit inconsistent, as it was good for some of the items I picked up (mostly work attire), but a bit crazy for some of their purses, new slacks, and bags. I grabbed one brand new (name brand) slacks and someone marked them at $49.99! Yikes. Not realistic for a thrift - promptly placed back on the rack. Designer purses (that I saw) were in average to good condition and were $59.99 to $79.99 - which is at the high end IMO for thrift prices. The staff was out restocking in many areas and the gal at the front was very friendly and engaging. The store was clean and people were buzzing all around. I recommend and will return. read more

this place has pretty good service and a huge selection. I went when it first opened, so there were tons of workers there. My issue is with prices. The prices are insane. It is a thrift store. I do not care if the items there are brand new, and from "elite" brands, thrift stores are not meant to be expensive af. The prices are also off. They had a pair of pants from Everlane going for $10....but clearly old sweater from Abercrombie and Fitch going for $50. Some of the prices I saw were prices that I could pay for the items NEW. I found a cute pair of rag and bone jeans. Why tf are they $100? Never going back or donating. I recommend going to Ecothrift in Hayward. It's about 20 minutes away, but their stock is constantly changing, and they are always having a sell. They have tag sales. I assumed Savers would and they do not. read more

Lately, although it is still well stocked and clean, prices are trending towards the higher side, in line with what these items would cost new. It may be good because it means I'll make fewer impulse buys but they may want to reexamine how they are assigning value. Also, I'm not sure if this is a sign that they do not pay their workers for time they spend doing closeout duties or what, but I arrived tonight to find that the doors were locked 15 minutes before the posted closing time. I did notice some things to be donated are a little pricey. I was able to find some things. If you donate you can get a coupon with 20% off so that's pretty good. DONATION review only: My mother-in-law is kind, gracious ... and the neatest packrat, but a packrat nevertheless. Due to her health issues and our collective horror of her near-hoarding, the family has swooped in to clear out bags of bags, dishware, suitcases, never-worn clothes, a giant plush Christmas goose in a plastic bag, ye-olde-English figurines ... and oodles more. I've usually dropped off at Oakland Chinatown's Salvation Army location with its easy pull-up lane behind the store and good service, but they wouldn't take a console table. A desperate Yelp search yielded this nearby Savers. In the past month, the family has dropped off piles a dozen times (did I mention the near-hoarding???), pulling into a clearly marked donation area with a few parking spots painted with bright green lines. Wheeled bins are at the ready and service has been impeccable. Drop-offs get you a 20% off discount. I look forward to actually stepping inside the store one day. Despite the negative reviews, I would highly recommend you visit Savers for yourself and form your own opinion! This location was extremely clean, organized with plenty of parking. The staff was friendly and there was a big selection of clothing in comparison to another very well known Thrift store. Yes I will agree that prices are hit or miss but on my trip I found plenty of treasures from clothing, books & home goods...all for reasonable prices. I really enjoy it here. I'm not much of a "thrifter" but after stumbling on this store I'm kinda getting into it. The donation process here is clean and easy with designated donation drop off spots. They have green carts that rolls right up to your trunk and attendants that do must of the unloading for you. They always are open for donations, I've been turned away at goodwill a few times because the donation center was closed. If you need to get rid of stuff Savers. Will. Take. It. And it's super easy. That being said. savers is for profit and you do not get a tax write off. but as long as it's out of landfill AND they make it fast and easy I'll let that slide. I've had most my luck in home decor and books. I'm not big on used clothes but from what I've seen they have some pretty nice clothing that's well sorted and easy to go through. I've had tons of luck with finding pretty new books for myself and my 8 year old reader. I think the most I paid for a book was 2.49! I really like it here and from my experience I think it's a 5 star thrift place. No offense to goodwill and the good they do in the world.. but saver is MUCH nicer. read more

The manager was extremely rude yelling at everyone! As my mother and I were exiting with the cart she screams that she would like to see us try to get out of the front door with it with us not knowing there was a pole not allowing the cart to exit. As a manager you should never yell at your customers as we did not know carts weren't allowed outside as there was also zero signs stating that.
