Very expensive! I went in to buy supplies for my son's school project (a castle) and dropped over $50! A block of 12" x 18" x 1/2" should not cost $9.00. It's foam, not a commodity. The value here is finding the craft supplies you need that Walmart/Target/etc don't carry, but again you pay the price for it. What a complete and utter disappointing experience! "Jeff" at this location is the most atrocious manager I have ever endured at a retailer. Because of my interaction will him, I will not give this particular Michael's a dime of my business moving forward. EVER. Jeff took a situation and completely ruined it where where as a manager, he could've demonstrated less attitude and showed better service. Perhaps the regional hierarchy needs to do some coaching for improvement. I stood in a line of several people to purchase an item. I inquired with the cashier about the return policy should there be an issue with the items performance (a $180 item!). She consulted with him via radio and he never came to the register (although nearby). Jeff came up with a completely unheard of return policy "for this location only" and stated the item could not be returned because they would not be able to get credit from the manufacturer if it were to be used (despite the reason). Where the heck is the customer service!?!? This is NOT the way Michael's operates. Mind you, I only inquired if it had a performance issue (spattering, lack of quality or craftsmanship, etc), not just used it and suddenly up and decided I want my money back (basically abusing the policy). So, because of this encounter with him as I was leaving the store where I had to approach him and re-inquire, because I still couldn't believe what had just been communicated to me, I exited and turned around and came right back in, stood back in line, and returned the item. Out of sheer principle, I'll visit another Michael's and purchase the item. This store isn't getting my sales dollars to support their payroll with someone like him in charge. Sorry, not sorry. The checker called additional checkers up and the lady with red hair that came up took the lady at the end of the line and had her follow he to her checkstand! I shop at this Michaels because it's the closes craft store to my home. It is organized and I usually find what I need. Customer service is horrible there. The store manager Jeff is Rude!!! I didn't realize he was helping another customer when I approached him. I said excuse me..he looked at me with a mad look..I was like"oops I'll wait" I stood around the isle where he was assisting the other customer. He finished with her and he never came to answer the question I had for him. I completed my shopping, and when I went to pay he looked right at me and walked away. I asked the checker for his name. She said he is the store manager..Jeff. I believe that the store manager of any business should be an example and carry himself in a friendly manner so that his staff can do the same. I have been a custom framing customer of Michael's since 2003. I'm new to Menifee and have been working with Tomoko the framing manager. She has an amazing eye for any framing task. I brought in 8 pieces limited edition in May for custom framing. I got chills multiple times from the frame selection and mat collaboration. The only occasion i go to this store is when I don't have time to run to Jo-Ann's in Temecula. Today I checked on line for a particular yarn I wanted, and the Michael's website said (still says) the Menifee store has it in stock. I could buy it on line and pick it up at the store. Fortunately I decided not to purchase, but to go the store and just get it. In the yarn area, the shelves are messy, labels are missing (must have them!), and that department generally looks awful. Not just now because it's the holidays, but EVERY day. There were about 15 full boxes of unstocked yarn in the aisle. My sis and I went through each box (each contained a variety of yarn brands and types). There was another lady there also searching. None of us found what we needed. You would think that when customers are going through unshelved inventory still in boxes, some store employee would notice. Nah...they just walked around us. Would love to have a great yarn store nearby. This Michael's is not a reliable supplier in any department. The store is always messy and doesn't look clean. Too bad, but I will just go on to Jo-Ann's in Temecula in the future. read more

This store is very complete selection-wise, but it the store has some personnel issues: If you happen to bump into one on the sales floor, they are to busy to ask if you are finding everything okay. There's almost always a long, slow-moving line at the checkouts. The cashier will ask if you are a "rewards member" without introducing the program or offering to check if you already are member. Also be careful of their prices: They seem to be targeting high income artists because some of their stuff is pricy. i.e. the $90 pencil sharpener. read more

I make phone cases and I've been buying mod podge and e6000 glue for over 4 years now at Michael's. I went last week to get mod podge and they wouldn't take my coupon saying it's now an everyday value item and the price is the same no cheaper value price. So then I went Saturday cause there was a 60% off coupon to buy my glue and again wouldn't take it they said sorry it's an everyday value. I've always used coupons and now I can't they could have least dropped the price. So pissed guess I'll be driving to hobby lobby where they take coupons for everything not on sale. I just spent over an hour shopping here only to find out their chip reader doesn't work on B of A Mastercards. Apparently, they have been aware of this issue for some time and their solution is to have the customer contact their bank to resolve the issue. My card works fine every where else, so in the future I'll just drive a little further to Joanns or hobby lobby. read more

Whoever was in charge of online order pick ups on Friday was incredibly rude and not accommodating. I have two michales accounts one in mine and another in my husbands and honestly don't even know why that is, but anyhow I made my online order mistakenly on his account and when I went to go to pick up I couldn't bc he was not present! Even when just the evening before I had just picked up another item!!! Seriously, over a 20 dollar cutting mat?!?!? I said I had the credit card on me, she could talk to him via phone bc he was at work, I could even FaceTime if needed for goodness sakes! If you have small children please do not bring them to this location. They will squash all the creative juices in your kids. My 6yr old daughter received money for Christmas and wanted to buy some craft supplies. As we were in the paint section looking at paint she went to the sharpie test station to look at markers. She was writing her name in all different colors when suddenly the manager of framing Tomoko came up (without seeing me) and proceeded to be very rude to my daughter. Telling her that those are not for coloring they are for paying customers. My daughter came over to me in tears and asked if we could go home. We went to Michaels in hopes of finding a good creative outlet for my girl and left empty handed and angry. Also Jeff the store manager was right there and didn't say anything when I confronted them. I went yesterday to get some things for my daughter's school project and hoped to find some Christmas bulbs for a wreath. I was a bit too early for the Christmas items. Found everything else we needed and a few extra things. The checkout line was long but it went fast and the kind young man who checked us out helped me find the coupon on my phone and was all smiles, we joked about how I was too early trying to find Christmas stuff while him still being quick and efficient. Annette Gonzalez is fantastic. She has taught me a slower knitter all kinds of things like making a purse, wallet, cell phone cover, scarf, beanie, pom poms, and more. It is great therapy for people who have time to be more productive and save money on gifts. I have seen the cutest baby clothes and other things that Annette brings in and have taught to many that come in handy for baby showers and such. Terrible service. I went to get an original movie poster framed earlier this week with my main concern it being ready by Father's Day. The girl who helped me the day I dropped it off was nice and reassured me it would be ready by Father's Day and put notes to have it expedited and everything. I called today to see if it was ready and her manager answered the phone and was pretty much like, "Sorry it won't be ready till Monday". Absolutely no feeling or concern in her voice. "Sorry you're sh*t out of luck" was her tone. I told her what happened and she said even if there were notes in there it doesn't matter. I told them the only reason why I went along with it was being told it would be ready by Father's Day. I would have rather just given him the poster on Sunday instead of not having anything to give him. And if I'm paying nearly $200 for a service, I really don't expect to be lied to and then have the effing manager act like it's no big deal. I very seldom post reviews, but this one is a must for me!! I had a critical timeline for a custom frame job for a wedding I was attending this past weekend. I cannot find enough GOOD words to express my gratitude and respect for the service and outcome I received from Jacqueline (Jackie) in the framing department. She took my timeline to heart and personally tracked the order all the way through the process, right down to the time when UPS was going to deliver the final materials needed to assemble our final masterpiece. From start to finish, she was attentive to details, picked up on the basic vision I had for this project, and made valuable suggestions without being too pushy, in coming up with the actual design. And the final product was perfect in every way! I was so surprised to see the low ratings for this store. Every time I have visited, the experience has been pleasant and successful. As lovely as big box craft stores can be, go to the ones in Temecula or Murrieta instead of this one if you can help it. This Michaels is ridiculous with not having employees to work the register or give help. The lines are unnecessarily long and it's difficult to find someone to help locate items. Also, it's difficult to leave the store. The only exit is blocked off and you practically have to go through the line to get to it. read more

I have had the exact same experiences with items not being stocked, especially those advertised. If you go in the morning of the sale, items aren't even priced yet and employees have no clue. I just changed my strategy and rearranged my priorities - I buy what I need a season ahead of time. So, when the "holiday" is over, then I buy it on sale and save it for next year. I get to buy some really neat stuff and benefit from the unique items Michael's carries and the store is in the neighborhood. It may not be exactly what I want, but most of the time it works out just fine and I'm happy at all the money I save on stuff I give away anyway. It just takes a 12 month cycle to reap the benefit of a little planning and scheduling holiday purchasing this way. Then I'm not disappointed and I don't care about the rude, inattentive employees because it doesn't matter. For things I MUST have, I use the 40% off coupons that are in the paper each Sunday.
